posting on behalf of my brother (Darren) who received the worst service:…read more ScamRight Customer Service: 1/5 Price: $$$ Don't come here! They are unprofessional. You will receive poor customer service and be mistreated even if you are computer-literate. Save your hard earned money, this business stays afloat by lying to you and over-charging. I had a laptop keyboard replacement done for 250$, while my laptop was originally 1000$. 25% of the original cost is absurd given it was just a keyboard replacement. You can even find a video on Lenovo's website how to replace the keyboard. They will force you to spend your precious time trying to get status updates. They also refuse to give original receipts for something you paid for. You basically have to do their job for them. Keyboard Part ~$80 Standard shipping ~$25 Labour ~$144 Issues: When I brought my laptop in I told them everything that wrong. Roger the receptionist told me I'd have to pay for a diagnostics test up front, which was $82.95 after tax. The ~$83 would be subtracted from the total cost if I retained their service, so I went ahead with their service. I had to remind them 3 times, about the extra problem, and Ben the owner even had the nerve to ask me "What else is wrong with the laptop?" A diagnostics test is supposed to determine what is wrong. I was quoted approximately $70 for the keyboard and $20 for standard shipping (2-3weeks). Conveniently both numbers were underestimates. One could argue that the estimates were all before tax, but as a customer you want to know how much money you are going to pay not the subtotal. $50 extra charge for taking my broken laptop keyboard out again, and putting the replacement in because I had changed my mind to retain their service after they had taken it out once. The video on Lenovo's website and youtube page for Lenovo Thinkpad clearly shows that the laptop keyboard can be taken out with ease. I asked for an original receipt for the keyboard part 4 times. The first 3 times I was given their company invoice which I had already received. The 4th time I was given the brilliant response "We can't due to security reasons" by Ben, and when requesting again I was told I could pay $85 after tax to obtain it. Telling me that I can not possibly receive the receipt due to "security purposes" then explaining $85 could sweep away the security issue does not add up. I had to email them almost if not everytime a deadline came up.

Don't bring your computer here…read more ClickRight stays in business by mansplaining expensive, unnecessary 'solutions' to computer-illiterate customers. I brought my main computer to ClickRight back when I was working two full-time jobs. I'm highly technically skilled, I build and program all my computers and servers myself- but at the time, I quite literally did not have a spare minute to repair my own computer. ClickRight was a few blocks away, and their hourly rate was affordabe. I went in and I explained the exact work needed- one failing component needed to be upgraded. I figured this would be a simple, straightforward transaction. It would be a 2h job that would be handled while I was at work. The technician looked at me dubiously and said they'd 'have to run tests' to be certain of the problem, as if I had no idea what I was talking about, but I had no time, so I left my computer with ClickRight and figured any tests they ran would correlate with my own diagnostics. I didn't hear back from them for three days. On the third day, I phoned them and asked what exactly was going on. I was told that there was a whole assortment of issues with my computer, that my hard drives' data would need to be recovered, and most of my hardware replaced, a task that was going to cost $950+ with labour. I actually started laughing, because I couldn't believe what I was hearing. The tech was dead serious. I decided to cut out of work immediately to retrieve my computer from the clutches of ClickRight. When I got there, I demanded my computer back. The tech was reluctant to do so, and told me that I should leave my computer with them. I reiterated the simple problem, the timeframe it should have been completed in, and my frustration with the situation. Again, the tech told me, to my face, that I was wrong, and, not in so many words, that they knew more about the problem that I did. So now I'm pissed; my time had been phenomenally wasted, my computer still unrepaired, and I'm being talked down to. I informed the tech I was leaving with my computer and that I would pay them two hours of their repair rate. The tech 'took pity on me' and didn't charge me at all, but patronizingly suggested I come back 'if' (when) I ran into difficulties. I drove straight to NCIX Coquitlam, bought the necessary replacement parts for $120, went home and fixed things in less than an hour. My HDs didn't need recovering, my memory didn't need upgrading, no reinstalls or other parts were neded. It seems to me that ClickRight's capitalizes on clientele with rudimentary computer knowledge, much like car repair shops insisting on a differential rebuild when you only came in for an oil change, because they're not making $$ on simple fixes. I understand that in highly specialized fields, you can't always go with 'the customer is always right', but I was crystal clear about my level of expertise. I stated the exact problem, how to fix it, and even what part model I needed. If my computer knowledge was still questionable after all that, ClickRight could have confirmed my statement in under half an hour of testing. So they either didn't perform diagnostic tests at all, or they did, but felt they could 'upsell' the problem. Either way, that's terrible, and dishonest business practice. Being in any kind of specialized service means you need to be able to effectively support customers of ALL skill levels, and not make any assumptions about your clients. And that's exactly where ClickRight falls short. In fact, I highly doubt their ability to handle any actual high-level tech diagnostics and repairs, especially if they were faced with a problematic non-Windows machine. To those non-tech-savvy readers of this review- whether or not you choose to take your computers here, or anywhere, I highly recommend getting a second opinion on your repair job- every. single. time. It's very easy to be scared into making expensive, and unnecessary choices, especially when the phrase 'hard-drive failure' is tossed around. Don't fall for that scam. I didn't really understand what a racket tech support services were until this charming incident. But now I do, and thanks to this, I've made it abundantly clear to all my friends and family that if they ever need tech help, I'm100% willing to assist, lest they end up going to ClickRight or the likes. Vorsprung durch technik.

He suggested that the problem was to do with my SSD. He let me know he will repair it and replace the SSD with a new one with more GB over the weekend and install Windows 10 on it and have my system boot up to the new SSD he installed while my old SSD acted as a hard drive so I can transfer old data I had to the new SSD. Got my computer back and I was happy with it for a month as my ram usage was down and it felt like it was performing better. However, my computer started to have the same issues again but it got even worse to the point where I would get the blue screen of death right away after I just started my computer. So I decided to go to Jon's Computer Repair near my local area and I dropped off my laptop there. An hour later he calls me saying that he opened my laptop and checked my motherboard and he found out that the SSD the MIT computer repairs person installed was a cheap Chinese SSD that he does not recognize and the way someone installed it was horribly done and it looks like someone who doesn't know how to repair computers has done this job. He also let me know that the cause of the problem was a RAM issue, not an SSD and I should be using the old and better SSD that I already had when I bought the laptop. So he reverted it back so that my laptop boots up to my old SSD and removed the cheap Chinese SSD. He also cleaned up a lot of dust that was there which the MIT Computer owner never cleaned up even though another cause of the problem was a lot of old dust can overheat the laptop which leads to the blue screen of death. He also checked my RAM and ran tests and removed unnecessary software that was taking up a lot of my RAM. After that, I watched tutorials on how to put a new memory stick onto my laptop and just did it myself and my computer has been performing so much better with no issues. Don't go to this guy since he actually made my computer worse with a low-quality SSD, installed Windows 10, and charged me 180 dollars. Told us he can take either cash or credit but doesn't charge tax for cash (Obviously trying to avoid his taxes). He also asked if I don't use my laptop anymore, he would take my laptop for the parts as he said the hardware quality like memory and CPU was really good. Makes you wonder why he would replace the SSD with a lower-quality Chinese SSD from AliExpress.
