    Honda...beginner

LADIES!!!! This review mainly for you. I'm in the very beginning stages of researching the best beginner bikes for me. Context: the last time I was on a bike, I was a teenager. I'm 58. So, I rolled up to SF Moto & I'm greeted by JASON. Told him what I was doing, and he asked some follow up questions & sent me upstairs to CHANA. I told Chana what I was looking for, showed him a picture, and he immediately said, "no you need this..." then he called TONY. Tony suggested some bikes, then he pulled out two: Honda (fave) & a Kawasaki (good too). He let me sit on them, take a look, and then he offered some tips. He did not rush me. He did not make me feel dumb. He was patient, especially to someone who was not buying. Next he said let's go & talk to TONY. Tony took more time than I thought he would as he walked me through the countless gear. He shared not buying a "Lexus" helmet in the beginning, until I have some rides under my belt. I learned so much. All & all ladies. This is a male dominated industry, and it is easy for men to make women feel small. Not these guys! I cannot wait to get started. Thank you to: JASON, CHANA, JIM, AND TONY. And I am going to give a shout out to the sweet man, talking to Chana when I arrived. He gave me some good advice too. Unless you are an experienced rider, please listen to whatever advice these guys give.

    Stopping in Seattle.

The SFMoto crew helped me ensure that my Africa twin was all good to go for my ride from SF to Vancouver, BC and back. They always provide great service. My bike performed beautifully.

Just purchase a Bike from SF moto. Jason was my sales guy and he was fantastic - very knowledgeable, kind and friendly. Recommend him highly. Preston from parts department was great as well making sure I had the right accessories and gear. Thanks to Eric as well from the business department. Overall pleasurable experience - thanks SF moto!

Upon picking up my bike the mechanic was trying to push more services which was odd because what he was pushing had just been done. Then on my trip home my storage box fell off my bike on the freeway, so I went directly back to the shop, they immediately got defensive and tried to blame me or my installer. When I asked for the owner it was deflected claiming he lives out of state. They took no responsibility. I would have at least taken an apology or sorry for putting you and or the public in danger. Lastly, I originally had my two tires replaced, very costly compared to other spots, but testing out the bike, it is shotty work. It doesn't feel balanced and feels shaky and slick. Im gonna have to take it somewhere else to get it looked at cause I definitely dont trust these mechanics. The shop seems okay, this is strictly about the mechanics and the work they've done. Another odd thing that really stuck out to me was how exact the timing was on the finished work, 1 1/2 hours... and I mean exactly. I do not recommend coming to this place, you will end up feeling unsafe, feel like you got ripped off and if something going wrong, it's your fault. I had to go to a different place and spend another 100 to get a new storage box and will be spending more to have someone look over the sloppy work this place has done. They dont care if you get killed out there, there take is, it wasn't them.

I brought my vintage motorcycle in for three specific issues: to have the carburetor checked because it was coughing under load going uphill, small oil leak, and to have the rear tire replaced because it was slowly losing air. When I picked the bike up, I was told the work was complete after inspection. At no point was I told the clutch was worn out or that it needed replacement, nor was there any mention of it on my invoice. The very first ride home, I immediately noticed the motorcycle wasn't riding the same. Downshifting became difficult, the shifter would stick, and it became much harder to find neutral. None of these issues existed before the service. I reached out simply to understand what had changed. I asked whether the oil or any adjustments could be contributing to the difference. Rather than answering my questions, I was repeatedly told I needed a new clutch and to "learn how to live with it" because the bike is 45 years old. What concerns me is that the clutch only became an issue after I reported the bike wasn't operating the same. If the clutch was truly worn to the point that it required replacement whether cable or complete system, I would have expected that to be identified during the service, discussed with me when I picked up the motorcycle, and documented on my work order. It wasn't. As a woman, I left feeling dismissed rather than listened to. I wasn't accusing anyone of causing the problem, I was asking reasonable questions to understand why my motorcycle behaved differently immediately after the service. Instead of a professional discussion, I was met with defensive responses and told to accept it. I understand that vintage motorcycles require maintenance and that components wear out. What I expect from any reputable shop is clear communication, transparency about anything discovered during the inspection, and respectful treatment when a customer has legitimate concerns. It's disappointing because my first experience here earned my trust. Unfortunately, this second experience lost it.

I first reached out to them about my leaking fork seals, and I had the pleasure of speaking with Shawn. He told me I could bring my bike in for a quick inspection, so I stopped by and they took a look at it and gave me an estimate. From the beginning, Shawn was transparent about the pricing, what work needed to be done, and what I would be paying for. Before coming here, I had gotten quotes from other shops, and TokyoMoto's price for replacing my fork seals was significantly better. I was so happy with the price and how they treated me that I decided to have them replace my chain as well. Obviously, adding another service increased the original estimate, but everything was explained clearly and there were no surprise charges. I had seen a previous review mentioning unexpected or last-minute charges, but that was not my experience at all. Shawn was very straightforward about their pricing and what each charge was for. I always felt like I knew exactly what I was agreeing to. They were also fantastic with scheduling. Since my motorcycle is my daily commuter, they worked with me to find an appointment that wouldn't interfere with my schedule. Luckily, I ended up being able to bring it in on one of my days off, and everything worked out perfectly. The whole crew at TokyoMoto was friendly, responsive, professional, and transparent throughout the entire process. My bike came back riding great, and I genuinely appreciate the work they did. They've definitely earned my trust, and TokyoMoto will be one of the first places I call whenever my bike needs service in the future.

Nini at the front desk was absolutely perfect for the job imo: compassionate, reassuring, and exactly what a first-timer needs before throwing a leg over a bike for the first time for real. Freddie and Henry were great too, really easy dudes to talk to and very helpful with sharing tips and other pointers for me. I'll be honest, I dropped the bike an equal number of times on both sides over the weekend, all at zero mph (embarassing af). Symmetrically bruised ego, perfectly balanced. Returning it felt intimidating, but the whole team handled it with zero judgment and genuine professionalism. I didn't try to hide anything and they made the whole process painless, albeit with some monetary penalties caused by my inexperience (I own up to this though). I'm leaving with my wallet lighter but with my heart genuinely fuller for the experience. The environment this shop creates for nervous beginners like me is genuinely rare, and it made me feel supported and motivated to come back and do better next time. Will absolutely be back for my next rental and keep getting ride time in, because real experience gained like I did is priceless. The human element of the shop is just cherry on top, and makes me feel good I'm supporting a local business. Shoutout to Nini, Freddie, and Henry. You made a squid feel welcome.
