I cannot say enough wonderful things about SFMOTO--especially Dave B! I have a 2013 Lance Cali Classic 125cc scooter that had been sitting in a garage for about 10 years. She badly needed a tune-up, new tires, and a new battery. I called scooter shops all over San Francisco, but everyone turned me down because of the scooter's age or because they now service only electric scooters. I was at the end of my rope and honestly thought I would never find anyone willing to help me get her back on the road. Then I remembered SFMOTO on 8th Street. Years ago, I purchased my first motorcycle helmet, shoes, and gloves there while taking motorcycle classes, but I didn't realize they also repaired scooters. I was so happy to learn that they are a Lance distributor and service Lance scooters! Dave B was my service representative, and he was amazing from the beginning. He has such a great personality and genuinely understood how much getting this scooter running again meant to me. Although the shop normally doesn't accept vehicles over 10 years old, Dave looked at me and said, "I can't say no. I can see how much you want to ride your scooter, and I love your passion. I'm going to say YES!" And he did! SFMOTO fixed my scooter, and now she purrs like a kitten and is ready to ride into the sunset! I am so happy and excited to ride again. I truly believed no one in the city would help me, but Dave found a way to say yes when everyone else said no. LADIES!!!! This review mainly for you. I'm in the very beginning stages of researching the best beginner bikes for me. Context: the last time I was on a bike, I was a teenager. I'm 58. So, I rolled up to SF Moto & I'm greeted by JASON. Told him what I was doing, and he asked some follow up questions & sent me upstairs to CHANA. I told Chana what I was looking for, showed him a picture, and he immediately said, "no you need this..." then he called TONY. Tony suggested some bikes, then he pulled out two: Honda (fave) & a Kawasaki (good too). He let me sit on them, take a look, and then he offered some tips. He did not rush me. He did not make me feel dumb. He was patient, especially to someone who was not buying. Next he said let's go & talk to TONY. Tony took more time than I thought he would as he walked me through the countless gear. He shared not buying a "Lexus" helmet in the beginning, until I have some rides under my belt. I learned so much. All & all ladies. This is a male dominated industry, and it is easy for men to make women feel small. Not these guys! I cannot wait to get started. I had the mini service and front brake replacement today. When I got home I noticed my left front signal was dangling. I then found out that there are two missing screws. Not sure if it's my fault for not checking before leaving the service dept. OR they don't do QC before they fixed a motorcycle, which is bad if you need an engine tuning because you won't be able to see the inside. Now i need to come back tomorrow 9.22.2026 and miss 30 mins of work. Again. This is why I'm reluctant to do the other "maintenance" that my bike is overdue with them. This is the second time that they didn't do a good QC. Last time my seat was loose because they forgot to screw it. I understand we all humans and we make mistakes, but like any workplace, there should be a very good QC protocol as this is or could be a life and death situation. Lastly, they parked my motorcycle in the usual spot but the key was left on the ignition. It could've been stolen, SMH. read more

I came in to the shop with my son who recently purchased a motorcycle to take a look at helmets a while ago. My son thought he knew which one he wanted before we even came into the shop. We were lucky enough to be helped by Tony who knew just about everything there was to know about helmets and advised us as to why the one my son wanted wouldn't be the best fit for him. Tony was knowledgeable, friendly and incredibly helpful in guiding us to the perfect helmet for my son. He didn't even try to upsell us, as the helmet he suggested was actually cheaper than the one my son had his eye on. As a Dad, we want to know our kids are as safe as they can be out there and Tony (a Dad himself) knew just how I felt. This place is a hidden gem. Everyone I talked to was super cool and easygoing. I scheduled a short test ride on a bike I thought I wanted, but it turned out not to be the right fit for me. Here's what stood out though: instead of feeling like it was time to dip out after the test ride, I ended up staying there for several hours just talking. Not because anyone was trying to "sell" me something the moment I walked through the door, but because they were genuinely great to talk to. I mostly worked with Josh and also spoke with the manager (super chill and easygoing) and a couple of other employees. At no point did I get the sense of "this is what YOU need." Instead, it felt more like, "Here are some options, let's talk bikes," with a few jokes thrown in along the way. In the end, I went with a different bike that they didn't sell. But the experience still left me wanting to support this shop any way I can. They have plenty of bikes that a great for most riders in the city, a knowledgeable staff, and fair pricing. SF Moto gave me such a great experience with purchasing my first motorcycle here! Chana was my main point of contact in sales, and he has been amazing and patient with working with my budget and needs as a beginner motorcyclist and sending me different options when I was shopping and deliberating which motorcycle would be the best for me for my first one. He sent me info on a 2016 Honda CB300F in August as an option. In late August, I decided to head into San Francisco and check it out in person. After trying out that bike and sat on a couple of others, I knew that it was the one! Eric in finances walked me through all the paperwork and payments, which were all very straightforward. He answered all the questions I had, and was very patient when I was processing all my credit and debit card payments and had to call the credit card companies to get them to approve my payment. After payment was squared away, I got a walkaround of my new bike, and ordered frame sliders from the parts department. They shipped it over in a blue van to my address once the frame sliders came in over a week later. I was absolutely thrilled with my purchase, and proud to call myself a motorcycle owner! read more

Total scam shop and they wrecked my CBR500. I called to ask how much the first service would cost and the quoted me 160 but no more than 180 and I asked what about my serve plan that I laid for and he said it didnt cover that and im like ok. But I called the following week to reschedule. My appointment for its first service and I asked to reconfirm the price as and rhe manager who was in charge of the service department said oh don't worry I can see you have a service plan that includes your first service free and I go un are you sure why did the last guy I talked to quote me 180 and he said he didn't know what the last employee was talking about and sorry for the mix up. And I said are you sure becuase if its going to cost more than 200 im just going to take mt cbr500r to motojava. And that's when the guy on the phone got super defensive and said no I swear ir will be free and tou wont have to pay anything. Then I take my bike in for service and I find out that my first service wasn't included and that they wouldn't honor what the manager intalked to said and not to mention they charged me 400 which was way more than the 180 qouted. And Eric the shop owner pulled a bait and switch. But at thay point I Just bit the bullet as my cbr was already 200 miles past the point where it needs its first service and motojava was busy for the day. So I pay and tell them fine do the service but dont touch or tamper with the brake ratio the cltuch and throttle wires and especially dont move the shifter. And lord and behold when I go back to pick up my bike they ignored all of what I said and the mechanic said he made the changes but he could change them back for another fee. And at that point im already mad. But Im super angry know becusee they ruined my bike. My cbr500 redlines even going uo the smallest hills to get started. Thr bike has no power anymore and it gives me the shift indicator when going more than 45 mph when before I would get it when my bike reached 55mph. The handling is messed up and it turns like a tank now. Plus the most dangerous of all the bike shifts into neutral by itself. And u figured it out when I was riding it home. And it did jt twice more on the way back. Im super angry and im never going back to this shop and the wrost thing is that I bought my bike from here so im not sure how they messed up this badly. Im pursing a charge back with my bank and legal action because im not sure how much its going to cost to fix the damage this shop did to my bike read more

I see some bad reviews here but I had a decent experience at SFMOTO buying a GIVI case. They were knowledgeable and helpful explaining how I should install the new case I eventually chose to buy from them. Overall all the employees I interacted with were friendly or friendly enough. I don't expect red carpet treatment. Just sharing of knowledge is enough. I will update this review after I have my bike serviced at SFMOTO. read more
