Mitchel has been in the business over 50 years- he's a true master craftsman! Easily diagnosed my machine, and got me on my way. Will definitely be going back to him for technical direction and machine related parts and equipment. read more

Located on Central Ave. in Hartsdale, this place is like sewing machines gone wild. I didn't inherit my Mom's 70+ years seamstress genes. So when I needed zipper repairs, sleeves shortened, slacks hemmed, etc, I'd take my stuff to her- to avoid paying an arm and a leg at the cleaners. Plus I love when she fixes my clothes =^-^=. Wouldn't you? But I've been amped up the last few months to get my own basic sewing machine for small stuff like stitching, tears, etc. Hubs beat me to the punch though and gave me a portable Singer sewing machine for Christmas. I've kept mine in the box because I didn't know what to do with it. Plus the little bit of sewing I do know, I learned in an old-fashioned sewing machine when I was a kid and felt stumped with Singer's updated models. Hubs told me Mitch (owner) is always here and if I needed brush-up sewing lessons to stop by. Not only did Mitch and I sit together and had me practice threading the machine needle, and using the different stitch design knob- but I also purchased the necessary fabric scissors, small thread scissors and black and white spool threads. He was super patient and I seriously didn't feel rushed. I paid $30 for all my items and he threw in a black thread on the house. Thank you! By the way- storefront parking isn't always convenient. Mitch reminded me I should move my car otherwise I'd be screwed with a $75 ticket on a no-parking spot. But you can park further up by Fantasy Cuisine or...across the street. Mitch is beyond knowledgeable, friendly and more important- attention to detail is all here. read more

Took my Kenmore machine to be cleaned and serviced. Mitch told me that it was made by Janome. I had no idea! I have had this machine for 25+ years and never had it serviced. It runs like a top now and will be my travel quilting machine. Thank you Mitch for the perfect service and extra bobbins!! read more

Knowledgeable and helpful. Excellent variety and honest. Traits that aren't always easy to find in a store owner. Mitch has them all in spades. Highly recommend braving the somewhat challenging parking situation (though there is a public lot across the street) to have your sewing machine serviced or purchase. read more

I brought in a brother sewing machine that attacked me twice. The needle exploded on to me when I was trying to thread the bobbin. Instead of pressing my luck further, and getting no result from taking it apart, I decided to get professional help. Most of my Google searches resulted in Queens locations, which were hard to get to until I found this shop in Hartsdale. Not only did he know his stuff, but he showed me a box of brother bobbin corpses from other people who brought in machines that malfunctioned. Apparently, these machines are notorious for bobbin breakage and malfunction. It has a 6-month life span and I got about 1-month out of it. It would have cost more to repair than buy a new one, but I wanted to exhaust that option first. He recommended a replacement and took money off for my machine trade-in! I'm happy to have found someone knowledgable and reliable to not only recycle my old machine but get me one that will last me for a good long time. read more

Mr. Mitchell is amazing at repairing sewing machines. I took my Janome machine here for a tune up and he fixed it, quickly. He also gave me advice on how to keep it in good working condition for longer since I am a novice sewer. He gave me tips on which needles would work best for certain fabrics. You won't find this kind of service at the generic box stores. I am definitely going to be returning. read more

Very knowledgeable and reliable. He really knows his machines. I have a vintage Singer machine and he helped me get it running.

During the pandemic mask making was one of my priorities and my 20 year old sewing machine malfunctioned. I thought it was hopeless and that I would have to buy a new machine but after my visit with Mr Mitchell, I was hopeful. He exceeded my expectations and thanks to his expertise, my sewing machine is back up and running like it's brand new! read more

Thanks. To the poor reviews!!!! Why I won't fix your 99 dollar machine is because they do not repair well thats why they are 99 dollars. You mentioned you had a good machine but now will not bring to me. Why because I was honest!!!!! After fifty years in biz I don't want your money to fix a model that I know is inferior. Thanks but no thanks. I'll do biz my way and avoid u coming back complaining!!!!!! Mitch read more

I was 100% satisfied with the services provided by Mr. Mitchell. My 40 year old Singer Athena 2000 he repaired is running like new again! I am thrilled and back to sewing regularly. Mr. Mitchell is very professional and incredibly knowledgeable and I have already referred him to everyone I know who has a sewing machine, including my dry cleaner who has industrial sewing machines he hasn't been able to get repaired elsewhere. I just had two machines repaired by Mr. Mitchell at sewing machines etc. - he went above and beyond the call of duty in spending time to diagnose my machines and explaining what he was going to fix and how much it was going to cost. He charged me for exactly what he said he was going to do - didn't charge me for a replacement plate that he happened to have in stock. Very happy with the honest and knowledgable service. I'll be back! read more

After sewing 100+ masks for the local MasksForNY effort, my mom's 1959 Singer (a Cadillac - a 401A) desperately needed servicing since it hadn't been serviced for over 40 years and was acting up. I thought I'd have to wait until after the pandemic. Based on Yelp reviews here, I decided to call Sewing Machines. Mr. Mitchell discussed the issues with me, and I was able to safely drop it off curbside that afternoon. I picked up the machine the following day, in excellent working order. He thoroughly went over the machine, fixed its issues, cleaned, and fully serviced it overnight. Outstanding service. Mr. Mitchell is very knowledgeable about sewing machines. He's been in the business for over 50 years. Highly recommend! read more

Brought 2 sewing machines in for Mitchell to fix. So pleased with the service. He charged exactly what he said, no hidden fees. Discussed issues I was having, because I am not a great seamstress, and he offered advice that was so useful. Not a lot of people sew, so sometimes it's hard to find someone knowledgeable to ask questions of. Work was done in a timely, reasonable fashion. Worth every penny! And Mitchell is such a gentleman with great customer service skills. A true gem! read more

Had an outstanding experience with Mitch today. Guy really knows his stuff. Couldn't recommend him more.
