If you are visiting Seward - please book with Seward Ocean Excursions! I was in Alaska for a very short work trip and was only able to take one personal day...and this is what I choose to do. I woke up early to drive from Anchorage and it was so incredibly worth it. I was on a full tour - which was only 6 people - and the boat was great; enough space for all 6 people to either be inside or outside on the deck. We had exceptional weather (our guide even said the most rare thing we saw was the top of the mountain range) and it made for a great trip. We saw sea otters, mountain goats (from afar), harbor seals, bald eagles, jellyfish, and were able to follow a pod of orcas for an hour! Our guide was amazing - she was able to help us identify the pods and tell us their story - as well as she had great knowledge of the area, history and all the wildlife we saw. This was absolutely hands down the best experience!!! Connor was absolutely fantastic, the ride was absolutely beautiful and we really loved every second of it. They keep in touch with all the boats to make sure you miss NO opportunity to see all the wildlife that are presenting themselves. It was a tiny boat so it made it feel so much more personal rather than the bigger boats. It was heated in the cabin if you stayed in there but so nice to be able to move around the boat and stay outside the whole time. We were a party of 4 and we had the whole boat to ourselves. Easy cruising through the bay telling us about the geography and history of the area. Spotted bald eagles, stellar sea lions, puffins, seals, and sea otters. An awesome tour service and our favorite excursion a weekend trip to Alaska -- we came a little after the peak tourist season and were having a hard time finding activities, but they operate year-round and I seriously cannot recommend this crew enough! They take out smaller boats of ~6 people -- we were able to see a lot more than some of the larger boats, and get stunning views of the glaciers in Kenai Fjords National Park. The boats are comfortable and have a heated cabin, and the back deck is perfect to get some fresh air. They're communicative and helped us navigate to the dock when we were a bit lost, as well as kept us in-the-loop about weather conditions. We got lucky with the most beautiful sunshine in late September! The guides are knowledgeable and attentive -- we had requests to see wildlife and beach the boat. It was no longer orca season, but we saw sea lions, lots of bald eagles, jelly fish, otters, and more. We stopped over on a small sand bar and got to explore the land, and our captain had hot chocolate waiting for us when we got back! Resurrection Bay is beautiful and these folks are the best people to show it to you -- I cannot recommend it enough, and can't wait to be back for another tour during the summertime! read more

Woah!!! This boat tour could not have been better. I HIGHLY recommend taking this rather than the larger boats where you have to crowd in with everyone to try to see and the large vessel scares away the wildlife. We were guided by Capt. Andrew who is a self-taught naturalist with a radio voice and the most warm and pleasant demeanor. We had the best time! The weather was perfect.. we saw a humpback and got so lucky and saw a few Fin whales.. so many sea otters and sea lions and I spotted a mountain goat way down low.. even impressed our captain.. I just completed my excursion. I'm up here in the winter. Just got off the boat. I did the 3.5 hour tour with Captain Joanna. Loved it. She was great. Scenery was spectacular. Saw many bald eagles, goats and sea otters, but the highlight were the Dall Porpoises. Even though it was below freezing outside, it never got cold. The day was clear with no wind. Boat was comfortable and warm and only 5 of us guests. I'd highly recommend. And again a big shout out to Captain Johanna! She was great! read more

As a lifelong Alaskan a whale watching has been on my bucket list and I finally got to cross it off. I chose a smaller company to avoid the crowds and I'm glad that I did. There were four of us plus the captain. Calley was super friendly and knowledgeable not only about the marine life we were viewing as well as the surrounding landscape and glaciers. We spent a lot of time heading far into the Gulf of Alaska to catch the Orca pod as it was a big to see on all of our lists. We got to see even see one of the new Orca calves! We also got to see humpbacks, sea lions, many different marine birds, orcas and porpoise. There were lots of glaciers to see. We didn't see some of the stops as we were chasing Orca, but next time :) read more

I took this tour at the tail end of winter, and got super lucky with great weather that enabled our boat to fully enter Kenai Fjords National Park. I contacted this company to ask questions by phone and the staff was really helpful. I later booked online and am SO glad we chose this company for our Fjord tour. Our captain, Callie, was so great and we loved having the experience of being on a private boat tour that only seats 6 as opposed to one of those massive boats. Our trip was perfect. We had the pleasure of a half-day tour with Captain Joanna. I am so glad we did this tour! We saw a lot of wildlife and got a great overview of the coast and critters along the way. You can tell that Joanna is serious about the local flora and fauna and loves sharing the experience. We even got to see a pod of orcas and have some dolphins play a game of chase around the boat. I hope we find our way to Seward, again, and we will go back out with Seward Ocean Excursions. Oh, and the boat was comfortable, with clean cushioned seats inside the cabin and a stable deck at the back for photography.
