Saltwater Safari was my first experience with Alaska charter fishing and it certainly did not disappoint. I fished with them on 6-19-2023 and had an incredible time. A knowledgeable and experienced crew put us on fish after a 3 hour shot out to where the fish were found. Hit my limit in Halibut in a couple hours or so and rock fish by the end of the day. Had a great time and can't wait to come back next year.

Went on a Saltwater Safari Charter on Thursday Aug 5, 2021 and had a BLAST...! Captain Steve set us up on the halibut first thing in the am (after a 2 hr cruise out to the fishing area). The bite didn't start right away but slowly creeped up until the entire boat had their 2 halibut. No monsters but we were feeling good after hearing on the radio that some other boats were still looking for their first fish. Then we made a move to an area where the Rockfish were holding and we hit our limit after just a couple passes. Next stop was back towards Seward where we piled up to a well known spot based on all the boats around and OMG did we put those nets to work! Gotta give a HUGE shout out to Jeremy & Dalton- the best Mates we had all week. Those guys were always prepared with bait, a gaff or a net. This was our 3rd (& last) charter of the week, and as they say, saved the best for last. If you're considering a Charter, I'd call these guys first. If you have questions, I'd be happy to answer them.

Fun times.

What a great fishing experience. Our boat limited out on halibut and Rockfish. Justin and Maka were great. Boat was always kept clean and safe. Had a blast.

The best deckhand on Alaska.

Great trip. Bobby & Noah worked their butts off. We'll book again. They were right there every time we needed bait or assistance. I was really impressed with their assistance and the knowledge that they shared with us. I hope they are both on our next charter.

J-Dock Sport Fishing - Hayden with his 1st King Salmon

J-Dock Sport Fishing

The J-Dock team was fantastic. Very responsive as we planned our trip, and great in the execution…read more Captain Kyle and crew members Bryson, Andrew, and Melody ensured that our trip was safe, fun, and productive. Our large catch was already filleted by the time we reached port, and we opted to have J-Dock individually package our fish (salmon, halibut, and rockfish) for us to bring back home (they offer shipment as well, but we choose to bring ours back on the plane). Boat and equipment seemed well-maintained for our end-of-season trip. We would absolutely use J-Dock again on a future trip. Note that we were absolutely exhausted by the end, and had a 90-minute drive afterwards -- consider staying in Seward overnight after this trip.

Unfortunately, this trip I was severely sea sick, but my spouse caught a 95 pound halibut and even I had some success with the "smallest halibut". Captain Kyle and crew were fabulous. They all worked very hard during the entire charter. Our captain is a nurse and he helped me with my situation and the three-person crew checked on my welfare and ensured I continued to fish. I whole heartedly recommend J Dock to anyone visiting Seward Alaska but recommend you book in advance. Depending on the month you are visiting will also decide the fish you can keep. The silver salmon derby in Seward is epic in July. Remember, Fish On!

Crackerjack Sport Fishing Charters

Crackerjack Sport Fishing Charters

First the positive: Our captain was very friendly, the boat was very nice. We all got fish, and…read morealmost all of us got halibut! Now the narrative: My brother (who's into fishing like I'm into Yelping) came up to visit from FL. He booked for, and paid for this charter. On the day of, our captain had cancelled due to poor conditions. However, my brother still wanted to go out (I outfitted him and my Mom with my waterproof, warm mountaineering gear), weather be damned. After some confusing communications, Crackerjack made it happen. They put us on a boat with a captain and six passengers: us (a group of 3), a couple (2), and a guy from California (1). The other people on the boat were friendly and we started the day in good spirits. The water quickly got really rough, but we endured. No one got seasick. After getting beaten on the waves for over an hour, we got to a spot that was slightly more calm. Within an hour, I caught a halibut! Then my Mom! Then my brother got a salmon! Then the boat started catching less fish. I'd say most of the fist were caught in the first 4 hours. And ALL of the halibut were caught in this time. The seas were ROUGH, and my Mom and I were out in front. Constant wind, constant side-ways rain, and consistent 5 ft swells battered and chilled our bones. (I'm a part-time photographer and I brought my nice camera, I took zero photos because I was afraid of the swells slamming it against the boat and out of my hands, seriously. This is my mountain/ice/snow/rock climbing camera, mind you.) As noon approached the captain asked us if we wanted to do a half day instead of a full day (which was what we paid for)...it was an emphatic yes from the 3 of us, and from California guy as well...who was looking very pale. Then noon hit and my Mom asked the captain "So is this when you go back for a half-day?" and the Captain said "yes, this is when we *would* go back". A hush of horror came over us. Wait...what? We are staying for more of this punishment? (at this point no one was catching anything) My Mom pressed further "are we going back now?". The captain said nothing out loud, but shook his head in the motion of "NO." This was a complete communication breakdown. I'm assuming the couple didn't want to go back when he polled them? Even so, if 4 of us wanted to go back, but 2 of us don't...the 2 overrule everyone else? I guess these boats are not a democracy. We stayed 3 more hours and caught nothing. California guy was grasping onto the boat, trying not to fall over, as he puked. I still have no idea what actually happened, and why we stayed out for another 3-4 hour brutalization. My guess is that Crackerjack wanted to get that sweet, sweet full-day money for all 6 people. So they didn't much care that one person was puking and the other 3 were checked out and catching nothing. Probably a good charter if the weather is good, though.

Captain Jeff rocks. Kept his cool while dealing with 6 full grown children making grotesque jokes…read morethe entire time. He maximized his time fishing and got us a lot of King/Silver/Pink rockfish and halibut.
