The office in Seward was closed up tight and no vehicle was in the parking lot. By the time of departure still no one had shown up. Calling the office number for Seward resulted in a "this number is no longer in service" message. The Anchorage office rang but no one answered. This has completely ruined our family weekend that was planned and resulted in additional costs to try and salvage the weekend for us. I have zero faith I will receive a response from my email or phone call. And zero faith the money spent will be returned. read more

DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY!!! They kept us waiting in the cold and left for Anchorage over an hour late, causing several passengers to miss their flight. The shuttle and bus were disgusting, covered in grime, and smelled of dirty diapers and cigarettes. The waiting room smelled of urine, and the bathroom floor was covered in urine and animal feces. The owners, Manny and Nancy, were incredibly disorganized, clueless, and rude--taking no responsibility and offering no apologies for leaving multiple customers stranded at the airport after causing them to miss their flights. The bus driver said he was too afraid of losing his job to tell them we needed to leave on time, so we were left to our own defenses. It's a scam. Booked online. No response when we called multiple times over multiple days. Showed up at the depot on international blvd well ahead of our scheduled departure time. No one showed up. Place was totally locked up all around with padlocked. Waited till 15 mins after then called another ride to go to the civic center for a different bus company. The website shows your busses and when we showed up the parking lot looked like a graveyard for dead passenger vans and 8 person vehicles. I was looking forward to seeing the views and be able to take photos along the way. Well that was not going to happen. This is the most disorganized excuse for a common carrier I have ever seen. We tried to take it from the ship terminal in Seward to ANC. It took 3 passes through Seward to find all the reserved passengers which took about a half hour more than expected. The bus, a 26 passenger van, was filthy with food containers and wrappers on the floor. It is a 3+ hour trip and there is no bathroom on the van. And there are several stops along the way from the ship terminal to the airport, including a stop at the "office" to collect an extra $5 to get an airport drop off. Not sure if there are many other operators but I would put this crew at the bottom of your list. read more

We needed transport from Seward to Whittier on a Saturday morning and I guessyou get what you pay for. No, you don't get the nice, big, white buses they show on the web page. You get an old 8-passenger van driven by a retired deck hand. He did pick us up on time but almost clipped a stop sign driving through Seward to pick up other passengers. No commentary, no explanation of what's going on, no estimated timeline. Made a potty stop at a rest area then met with a van coming down from Anchorage near the Whittier turnoff. Moved to that van which had a much friendlier, more conversant driver who took us through the tunnel into Whittier. Bottom line: we got where we wanted to go but it was neither fun, comfortable, or entertaining. But it was cheap. read more

I hadn't read these reviews when I first booked and after reading them was worried it would be a disaster but this wasn't the case at all! It's true that the "bus" is more like a large minivan but the A/C worked very well, the driver (and fellow passengers!), were great. Additionally, Manny, one of the owners, is a really friendly sweetheart. He drove us to our hotel and entertained us with interesting stories about Alaska. It's not a luxurious trip but definitely gets you from point A to point B, and all of the staff were great. read more

Like others have said, zero stars should be an option. The website offers an image of a scenic tour down the country side with a tour guide in a clean newer bus. The reality is an unairconditioned, older hotel shuttle, run by very nice but very "interesting" locals. The legroom for a 5'6" person had my knees firmly pressed against the crammed in rows of seats, and to top it all off, half the seats carried mail packages b/c this is 90% a courier from anchorage to Seward that realized it could make a few extra dollars carrying passengers to cruise port. And our scenic aspect, the landscape is nice but slowing thru highway scenic turnoffs but not stopping, was a waste. Omg it was the worse experience of the trip. When we booked the tickets the web site showed these coach white buses but when they showed up it was a whole different story. They arrived 30 minutes late with what appeared to be a shuttle that has been out of service since 2000. One lady feared her window was going to fall out while the overhead storage bin almost collapsed on our heads. The shuttle was filthy, broken front windshield, broken tail lights, and to make matters worse the only way to secure the back door that held our Luggage was with a string. The trip from Seward to Anchorage was like being in a freight train from the noise the transmission was making.. There we moments we thought we were never going to make it. I am not a person to complain however don't make the same mistake! Do your research prior to booking your shuttle ride. Lastly I would have to say the driver was very nice however the shuttle office and parking lot of the company was a total mess. read more

I made my booking by phone from New Zealand as the company website wasn't working and nobody ever answered emails. I had everything sorted... date, time, cost etc and I gave all the information to Nancy who read it back to me correctly. I asked her to send me a confirmation email... which never arrived. When we arrived in Anchorage I rang Nancye to once again confirm our booking... and she said You dont have one... and when I questioned her further she found us booked on an afternoon bus when we should have been on the morning one... no apology and everything blamed on me. We had a tour booked at the destination for the afternoon so it caused us real trouble. PLEASE DO NOT EVER BOOK ANY TRIP WITH THIS COMPANY -YOU WILL PROBABLY NOT GET TO YOUR DESTINATION. Our bus broke down in the middle of our transport between Anchorage and Seward. Luckily we were near a rest stop and the bus driver (who was incredibly nice) used the emergency call box (no one had reception where we were) and contacted a state trooper to contact the company to send another bus. We were pretty much stranded on a super hot day for almost 2 hours. The second bus came and took us on our way except it the A/C was also broken, and none of the windows opened. The conditions were terrible as the whole bus became super heated and humid(we started to think that the heat was actually on). My partner and I had trouble breathing b/c of this heat and some of the other passengers were getting quite irritable too. Thankfully the bus driver spotted a random food truck at another rest stop in which he advised we stop again so that all of us on board could get cold water. We were lucky that there wasn't anyone with major medical problems on board. We got to seward on time for our cruise, although very late and with heat exhaustion. The bus driver advised us to call the company the next day to try for a refund b/c of the conditions of our transport. I then called, and the owner on the phone was incredibly rude, and of course found no reason to refund my partner and I for this horrible bus trip that we endured. She ended up yelling at me on the phone. How can you not give anyone a refund for that transport we just endured? This is by far the worst bus line I have ever taken anywhere. I know they are a small company but the customer service and the fact that none of us got a refund for a trip like that is unacceptable. They are definitely a cheating company, and is lucky that no one on our bus had medical issues from such conditions during that trip. Because they could potentially get sued if someone had some problems from the over heated bus, and waiting 2 hours in the middle of nowhere. They need to fix their damn buses, refund their passengers for terrible conditions. I can see why the bus driver complained about the company as he drove us to Seward. To alaska visitors who are trying to get to Seward, take your money elsewhere, or find better transport. read more

Zero or negative stars more appropriate for this sham of a business. We had pre-booked the tickets for travel from Seward to Anchorage departing Seward at 2:00pm. We were asked to wait outside our hotel at 1:45 pm for pick up. We waited for over an hour and were finally picked up at 2:50pm. During that hour we made numerous phone calls , but were said the same lies - "the driver is on the way and will pick you up shortly in a few minutes". The van that took us from Seward to Anchorage was filthy. I wish we had taken some pictures to post here. On the way to Anchorage, the driver made a number of stops for other work for the owner of this shoddy bus line. The final straw - when asked to be dropped at our hotel in Anchorage which was on the way to the Anchorage bus stop (business address), the owner refused and instead we were taken to the bus stop. We then asked the owner if we could be dropped to our hotel which was 1.1 mile from bus stop, the owner asked us for $30. We instead called the local taxi and got to our hotel for less than $5. If I could give 0 out of 5 stars I would! I regret not looking at yelp until it was far too late. Please take your money and time elsewhere for your own sanity!!!! My experience sounds very similar to the other review. This was the most poorly run business I have ever witnessed (and I travel often!!!). The owner is running the place basically by himself and can't even keep up with the phone calls coming in on a leisurely Sunday. He is stressed and radiates that through every phone conversation I heard. The phone was ringing nonstop, going unanswered most calls. Irritating for any customer as we had that issue getting a hold of them while waiting for them to pick us up at the airport. The website is a lie... Not only are they not at the location listed (since moved to a shady, seedy building near the airport) but they also have a different schedule, and their "luxury" bus has seen better days... It no longer has air condition or a working bathroom, or even windows that open! It was hot and hellish on that bus and that was only the beginning... After a few stops for the bus overheating, we thankfully made it to Seward and on our cruise.... But gosh I have never been so concerned about making it safely read more

I'm sorry but these reviews do not reflect our experience. Our driver picked up 11 of us early from our hotel. Gave us all kinds of advise and told us amazing local stories and history on the way to our backpacking drop off point 2 hours from Anchorage at Coopers Landing. Our driver took part in playing along with the bachelor party theme we set up and got us to our spot on tine. He picked us up at the pick up spot with a ton of smoked salmon and beverages for our thirsty souls. All around great. Maybe a little rough around the edges but it's Alaska - got more than our money's worth. read more

Road bus from Anchorage to Seward. This was the worst bus ever. The bus was filthy dirty and smelled bad the driver was coughing the hole time and said head had the flu. He was weaving all over the road. My wife and both got sick from this contagious driver. Stay away from this bus service at all costs. read more

STAY AWAY!!!!! Problem 1st started when booked online, Never got a confirmation email or receipt. Never told where to pick up bus in Seward. Once on bus, it was a fiasco. Driver makes several stops to pick up passengers and packages. Safety issues galore. Left luggage and packages in aisle which would be an issue in an emergency evacuation. At the airport driver was unloading other peoples luggage and yelled at me for not helping him unload other peoples luggage. Bus in terrible condition and it was a miracle luggage did not fall out of the back as it was held together by rope. read more

Our experience was also quite negative. While nothing went array with our reservation and purchase, the bus left over 45 minutes late with no information provided to the many customers awaiting departure. Only after directly asking the manager did we find out that the owners were awaiting a separate shipment for delivery to Seward. Rather than upholding their promise to customers to depart at 2pm, this company gives preference to their pockets rather than good service. This, even after I was assured over the phone when making my reservation that we would arrive in Seward at 5pm. Instead we arrived after 6 and no apologies or information were given to customers. In safety issues, there was not enough room for our baggage due to the "shipment" SBL was also carrying, so objects were placed in the front of the riding area of the bus. If there had been an accident or the like, these objects would have been a serious hazard to customers. read more

As others have said, stay away from this business. I hardly ever write reviews (good or bad). But in this case, I had to. I had reserved a bus trip from Seward to the Anchorage airport. They told me that I was confirmed for a 930am departure. Even emailed me a photo of the reservation. I was away from my cell phone for a few minutes at 900am when they called. They left a message saying they were at my hotel and I wasn't there, so they were leaving. I called back at 905am and it went to voice mail. Hoping they would come back, I waited. Finally called the office at 930am. The guy yelled at me for not answering my phone, not calling them. Luckily I found alternate transportation to the airport and made my flight. Called Seward Bus Lines to ask for a refund. At first they said they would, but it never happened. Emailed them to remind them twice, and they ignored it. read more

I wish 0 stars was an option. I never really leave reviews but my experience was so bad that I had to leave one. Where to start? I signed up for the sightseeing option from Anchorage to Seward (which costs more). Sightseeing should be a joke. Our driver then said that he was going to leave us at the wildlife center enroute for maybe an hour or more while he did something else. Concerned about the arrival time, he lied and said he was leaving us due to "construction" delays and we would arrive late despite several of us asking why we would even be going to a wildlife center which was never on the itinerary. Expressing concern about a late arrival with unknown time (some of us had weddings or tours to get to), he changed his mind and said we would just idle at random places. Turns out, they did a side agreement to pick up some passengers coming for Seward and made an unscheduled 2 hour long detour to Wittier to drop them of. Suffice to say, there was no sightseeing happening unless you count a gas station or a pull out on the side of the road (with no views) sightseeing while we waited for the extra passengers and went 25 miles out of our way. So not only did we arrive late, after our driver repeatedly lied to us about what was going on and saying it was construction delays (he tried to guilt trip us into going along with his plan to abandon us while he did his detour 2hr drop off), we were ripped off as we were charged extra for sightseeing that never happened. We couldn't even complain at the office as it was locked up when we arrived with no one there on arrival. Other riders wanting to go the other way mentioned when they called ahead, the owner said they could pay at the office and the driver didn't care. Just said he didn't have keys. Don't take this option. It's a rip off and you are better off taking the train. read more

My experience is nearly identical to the other two reviews. One star is earned because we did actually make it to Seward from Anchorage relatively on timeline. However, I also experienced the following points. --The business overall is poorly run and maintained. I've traveled through many third world countries and seen better pride in investment. The fact that nothing improved in the year since the first review is telling. --In fact, all that did change was moving to a different location and changing the bus schedule, none of which are reflected accurately on the answering machine or the website. Important details if you're trying to catch a bus! --The owner needs to hire more staff. I feel fortunate that my phone calls were (eventually) answered, as I heard perhaps 100 calls while waiting for the bus an hour (remember the time was wrong? Plus we didn't depart on time, of course) that went unanswered because the owner disappeared for several hours leaving his bus driver to handle everything while running errands. --Everyone is stressed and it translates to the customer service and permeates every aspect of the business. --Maintenance is terrible, both in the waiting facility/office and the bus itself. No restrooms on bus (and barely in office), no AC, and an overheating issue that made me extremely worried about making it to my destination on time, especially since we would have been stranded in an area with no cell service. --All in all, nothing is as advertised: time, location, amenities, vehicular safety... Spend your money elsewhere. if you don't and have an experience like this or worse, you only got what you paid for. read more

As with others, we booked return travel from ANchorage to Seward with Seward Buslines in August 2015. The buses are small and old shuttle buses not coaches. The organisation is also poor and our return booking appeared to have been lost and they did not turn up until we called to check that they were picking us up. Once in Anchorage, we had difficulty getting from their office to our hotel when we had already paid them for a hotel drop off. We received no email or paper confirmation of any booking, but they had taken our money. Do not use this service. read more
