Drove about 20-25 minutes to this location for a simple hemming of three pairs of pants. I was told the turnaround time would be about three weeks, which seemed unusually long for basic alterations. When I asked about the timing, the owner showed me the amount of work currently in progress behind the counter, which appreared to be a relativily small volume (about the size of half a closet). Based on that, the extended turnaround time was surprising. I was offered a faster turnaround of one week, but with an additional $100 fee. That pricing felt excessive for straightforward hemming. The customer before me appeared to be receiving a quicker turnaround at a lower cost. The customer was receiving her item in five days for $50.00, which added to the confusion about consistency in pricing and timelines. I ended up leaving without service. I would recommend calling ahead to confirm turnaround time and pricing before making the trip. read more

This alteration shop has been in business in Winthrop Town Center for 17 years. I had several slacks, shirts and a sport jacket altered over the years. Karen is excellent. She is very busy and her turn around time is usually 3 weeks. Her work is worth the wait. If you need a garment done properly, especially expensive items, she is the seamstress to go to. Just plan ahead. Her shop is in the back of the center. Can be hard to find at first. read more

Great service great price very speedy and fast. Excellent job highly recommended local five star establishment

I cannot say enough good things about Sew N' Tell Alterations! I had searched everywhere from Sun City Center to Brandon and couldn't find a place that answered the phone and had good reviews--until I found this gem, and now I understand why their reviews are so great. My bridesmaid dress arrived late, and I had less than 2 weeks to get it altered before flying out. The owner was absolutely amazing--she actually answered the phone, welcomed me to walk in, and immediately gave me helpful input on what the dress needed to fit better. She was honest, didn't upsell me, and even charged less than I expected. Best of all, she didn't tack on an outrageous "rush fee" like other places might. Her little shop is adorable, she's incredibly kind and professional, and she had my dress ready ahead of schedule for a fraction of what I thought I'd pay. The whole experience was stress-free and such a relief during a hectic time. I will definitely be bringing all my items back here. Highly recommend--if I could give her 10 stars, I absolutely would! read more

She does quality work, but is overpriced compared to others within 15 minute drive. So, great quality, not so great value.

Very helpful. Could not complete work I needed done, but explained in full why, and offered suggestions that were very helpful.

First, I'd like to say that these ladies are SUPER kind and knowledgeable. I presented a very unique pair of pants that were huge around the waist- they were sagging. Had about 3 inches taken off and you can't tell they were practically taken apart! The service was great and my pants were finished a day early. I will trust them with any garment. read more

I came here with what I think is not a common request for a seamstress. I had an order to crochet a baby blanket f or someone and she had an expensive personalized label made for it. I was not comfortable hand sewing it on so I brought it here to see if they could do it. Karen, the owner, said no problem. She quoted me a price, said it would be a week before it's ready, and I said go for it! I had two labels actually, the personalized one for the front and my label on the backside right behind the other one. showed her where and how I wanted them and off I went. one week later I returned to see if it was ready and Karen said it had just come in (I believe her sister sewed it). She showed it to me and I could not have asked for anything better. I was thrilled. Karen was very friendly, as a matter of fact we had a great time talking and laughing. I would definitely recommend Sew N Tell for all your sewing needs! read more

I dropped into this little alteration shop one Saturday morning. The woman, Karen, I believe, working in the shop was super friendly and greeted my wife and I. I had two pairs of jeans and one shirt that needed to be altered. She let us know prior to getting the process started that it would be about a 3-week turnaround for the items. Perfectly fine by us. I tried on the clothes and Karen made the measurements asking for my feedback and offering her expertise along the way. Karen made light conversation with my wife while I tried on the different articles of clothing. She was very friendly. My clothes came out perfectly. Both the jeans and the shirt. Now I can wear them! My pants always need to be hemmed and I already have another pair that need to be done. We will be back! read more

Ya'll, Karen, I think thats her name, who owns the shop is THE sweetest!! Her little shop is so cute and homey inside. I came in to have 2 pairs of pants hemmed, and the turn around time was about 3 weeks, which was fine because I was in no rush! When I came in to give them the pants and measure, it was Karen and another lady and both of them were so sweet and welcoming. I felt very comfortable here. And for the price too, it was much cheaper than other places I've been to! So since I'm on the shorter side, I now know where I'll be going to get all of my pants hemmed! :) read more

I was searching for someone to alter a bridesmaid dress , that I was using as a bridal dress. It was off the shoulder (but too big for me), and too long. After going to one place in the area that wasn't open, I decided to drive over to Sew N Tell, as I just remembered there an alterations shop in Winthrop. They were open, Karen was friendly and made everything easy. She did a wonderful job with all the alterations and even fixed a bad zipper on the dress that David's Bridal "fixed" and sold me. Run, don't walk...to Sew N Tell Alterations. Karen is a true professional at what she does! I'll be taking everything to her from now on, for alterations! read more

I stopped in here on a whim needing my daughters pants altered in time for the Harry Styles concert. We went in and even though she was booked she made sure to squeeze it in knowing that this was SUPER important. She said they'd be ready Saturday, latest Sunday early. I was fine with that and said let's do it. She charged a rate that I was thought was fair and provided a cash discount as well. The pants were ready by Thursday! I stopped in and picked them up and she even said that if there were any issues just bring them back by for her to fix. I'm a customer for life! It's so hard to find reliable alteration service and Sew N Tell provided that and more! read more

Karen was great! I stopped by to get a minor alteration done on a pair of pants, and she stopped what she was doing to fix it for me. It was so minor that she didn't even charge. She is awesome and I will be back any time I need a garment altered! read more

Had a huge issue with my grandsons FFA jacket. So we called Sew N Tell and she reworked and had it ready the next day. Could not have been happier read more

These ladies are awesome! Every time I've been in they have been friendly and fun, their work has been outstanding, and they have completed the items by the time promised, if not before. On my most recent visit they were very busy, operating on a 2 1/2 week turn-around. I pled that I really needed my jeans earlier for a trip, and they kindly agreed. Then they even completed the work earlier than promised! I do wish they were open on Saturdays, which would make it a little more convenient for those of us who work during the week. (They are open until 5:30 through the week.) read more

Beyond amazing! She was super knowledgeable, professional, friendly and had my item done ahead of schedule and under budget. Thanks so much. Will definitely be back! read more

Great service for a fair price. I have become a regular client. Had several shirts altered

Very friendly and professional. During a busy time as prom season was around the corner I was still able to get four pairs of pants altered before I needed them. I would definitely come here for any of your alteration needs! read more

I had a uniform EMERGENCY and didn't realize it until the 11th hour...naturally. I just got married and my name tapes were sewn on the wrong uniform top. I couldn't go to work "out of uniform" even if it was something as simple as having my maiden name still on my uniform. I arrived at Sew N Tell and this wonderfully kind woman, who was weaving her magic on her sewing machine greeted me and listened as I unfolded my dilemma. She asked me when I needed the alteration to be complete and told her I needed It by close of business because I had to report to work with it the next morning. Little did I know it's the middle of prom season and her alterations calendar was booked for the next two weeks! She took amazing pity on me and squeezed me into her unbelievably hectic schedule. Less than two hours later I received a text message that my alterations were complete! The alteration charge was ($10.00) and ($10.00) rush fee. $20+tax was my total. I regret not getting her name so I could praise her specifically on this review...but thank you tremendously for your assistance today! read more

I have been to Karen multiple times. Every time I am satisfied. She even went above and beyond one time to have her son come by the shop during closed hours to get me an order I forgot to pick up and needed for vacation. She has had all of my orders done in time for anything I have needed them for even being booked out for two weeks. I won't go anywhere else. I love Karen and highly recommend Sew n Tell. read more

After calling ahead to several other shops for help with a last minute problem with my custom bridesmaid dress (made by a different shop) Karen was the first to say "come on in and let's evaluate the situation". I brought it in and she was so amazing to commiserate with me and the awful original work done on the dress and even though she's so busy, was willing to brainstorm and help me fix it in less than a week! I'm so thankful for her compassion and good humor during such a busy time (hello prom and wedding season). I'll update this review as soon as I get my dress back but I know it's in good hands. She has to clean up quite a mess, and yet I know she can do it! Thank you Karen! read more

Victoria is no longer here and has her own business called Seams Legit Alterations, so I have taken my business elsewhere to her as she was the only reason I came here. The other lady isn't very friendly and there's been times where the doors were locked during business hours, so it was frustrating for me to drive there with items that needed altering just to find the business to be closed during business hours... read more

Karen does great work. My clothes were delivered few days earlier than promised. She knew I had a birthday event coming up and got alterations completed ahead of scheduled. Then one item need a minor adjustment. Took it back and she did it same day for me so I could take to my weekend birthday event. The alterations are top notch and my clothes fit perfect. My first experience at this shop, but I will be back. Thanks Karen. I'm gonna look great on my birthday. :-) read more

I simply cannot say enough nice things about Karen and her business, Sew N Tell. This review is long overdue as my wedding was December 28, 2019. I went straight into nursing school after our honeymoon and am just getting a break, but didn't once forget about needing to write this review - I love this place that much. Karen, is amazing. She handled altering all 5 of my bridesmaids dresses, my 2 flower girls and my 1 ring bearer - it was a lot and it was not easy, but Karen did not flinch. Karen took on the challenge of handling all this and keeping me, as a bride, calm and assured everything would work out perfectly. Karen is extremely personable, very transparent and a hard worker. I plan to continue using Sew N Tell for my alterations and would very highly recommend this place to anyone and everyone. read more

I've been here a couple times and these ladies are very friendly, talented and timely. They text you when you order is ready which is a great help and their services are fairly priced! Also, this location is perfectly placed. read more

Karen is rude and overpriced. Walked in and walked out. She quoted me $180 on a dress she didn't even have me try on. She simply looked at it. Told me it was 5 layers. Alterations should NEVER be more than the retail price. Went to Carmen's on Kings and am having it done for $125. Btw, the dress is only three layers. Buyer beware. Don't @ me Karen. read more

We had two flower girls dresses and one bridesmaid dress pinned. Victoria gave us an estimate and said she had to check with the owner for exact cost. The cost was more than we paid for all 3 dresses combined! Needless to say, we will be picking up the dresses and we don't plan to use their services in the future. read more

2 weeks ago, I dropped in 2 pair of pants to be altered for an upcoming trip I was taking. I was assured that they would be ready in time, which they were. The price for each pair to be altered was $20 each, as they both had cuffs. I went back today to pick them up. When I got them, I noticed the hem lines were showing and were very evident. I started to share my frustration with this and the owner/operator became very defensive immediately. She blamed the manufacturer, and took no responsibility for the the poor end result. I reminded her that she was the professional, and I was just the customer. She did offer to try to fix the problem by removing the cuffs, but I told the cuffs were the reason that I bought the pants to begin with. She continued to be very defensive, and started to raise her voice at me. I asked her not to raise her voice, reminding her that I was her paying customer. I reluctantly decided to give her the opportunity to try to fix the problem by removing the cuffs, against my better judgment. She then said, in a very hostile tone, " You can leave my premises now". At that point, I'd had enough of her unprofessional attitude and said I would accept the full refund, which she earlier offered in a very insincere manner. I took my pants to a professional cleaner, who could not believe the poor workmanship. They rectified the pants for me. Needless to say, I would not recommend this business to anyone. read more

I love love love this place. The owner is so sweet and down to Earth. I needed a dressed hemmed for a wedding and she did a phenomenal job. Best alterations specialist I have ever met. I'll be recommending her to everyone. The prices are great too! I was quote $70 for the alteration I needed to my dress at another alterations spot here in Brandon. I found Sew N Tell and was so glad I did! I paid only $25 for my alteration and it looks perfect. The shop is super cute and clean too. I'm a very satisfied customer to say the least! read more

Karen has helped my family and I on so many big occasions. Even if it was last minute, she was more than gracious, and helpful. Being that her and her business keep quite busy she really does what she can to take on every project. She is honest about her time and what alterations she can take on as well as the practical time span for how long it may take. She also does an AMAZING job!! I've never been happier about the way a dress fit me, being someone that doesn't wear or like dresses, she has helped me to feel comfortable and gorgeous in them. Could not recommend her more! She's the best. read more

I have used this location a few times with success and payed a bit more than the standard going rate for the convenience of location. I was incredibly disappointed today. I am moving to California in 7 days and desperately needed a basic dress hemmed. I wanted to wear it on my trip as I am driving with a toddler across the country and wanted to be comfortable. I was told I was out of luck due to prom season- meanwhile, the girl sitting there sewing a pink dress told me that the dress she was working on was same day request. It made me feel like my previous business was not valued. I strongly recommend going a mile or so out of your way for a better price and perhaps more consideration for a massive life need. read more

Excellent Service! Provided same day service for my daughter's work pants. We are new to the area and she was given her uniform in the morning on the day she was suppose to begin work at night. I googled same day tailor and came across Sew N Tell. The owner was very accommodating and said bring them right down and you can pick them back up in a few hrs. She got them done quickly and texted when they were ready. Great experience. Highly recommend and sending the other daughter in this week with her work pants :) read more
