They did NOT fix the sewing machine and gaslit me that is was "fine" after waiting forever. Do NOT recommend!

Bad experience with this store which did not have to be. We purchased the machine and were promised that it would come in 7-10 days. Called 1x per week for the next three weeks. They kept assuring us that it would come but would not explain why it was delayed. Without our asking, the owner sent us a full refund. She didn't even have the decency to get on the phone after this to explain. Bernina helped connect us with another dealer who could not have been more helpful and customer service oriented. We do not recommend that you go to this store in Paramus or East Hanover. read more

In 2018 I brought my serger / coverstitch machine here for repair. I was told a part needed to be replaced. It took 6 weeks to get my machine back. They charged me $300. The machine ended up worse than before I brought it in. I brought it back. Upon pickup the repair guy made it seem like the problem was that I didn't know how to use the machine even though I had been using it just fine for 10 years at that point. I then took it to a different repair place and they fixed all of the issues for half the cost of what Sew Jersey charged and told me that the part that was replaced didn't need to be replaced. read more

Moved to East Hanover and was overjoyed to find an amazing store so close to my home. Jackie the owner was wonderful helping me in purchasing my first Brother Embroidery Sewing Combo. Always took my calls and helped me in every way I needed. Had my Machine serviced by Skip and he also was excellent. I went in to inquire about quilt repair. I left knowing nothing except I will never give these people my money. The woman who "assisted" me couldn't have been less helpful or disinterested. One copy of "Customer Service for Dummies", coming atcha! Btw: they do not repair quilts. read more

Too bad their repair department is so terrible. I like the fabric selection but I had an awful experience with their repair department. Brought one of my BERNINA machines in for service. After two months of very poor communication I went in to retrieve my machine and bring it to my former repair place. They repaired it in less than 24 hours. I'll never go to Sew Jersey again. read more

I just came out of the store... planned on buying a few yards of fabric and a book on 3 yard quilts.. they were short handed (only 1 person working) and when I asked about the price of the book he couldn't find it in the computer. There were many things with no price on them. I don't like shopping like that... I told him not to worry about it and left... There was a little boy screaming.... it was just too distracting to shop and I figured it would take too long to get any fabric cut... It's a shame because I love the fabrics... read more

Great store, selection, staff and repair work!

I love this store! The owner is a font of knowledge whose advice is essential to me when choosing the one missing fabric for any project. All of my favorite designers including Kaffe Fassett and Tula Pink are in stock along with Cotton and Steel and a great variety of other choices. I buy almost all of my fabric here and always take an extra bit of time to enjoy the new arrivals. I do plan to purchase a new sewing machine at some point, and this shop will be my first stop. The onsite service is so important to my peace of mind, and Jackie the owner will stand behind my purchase I know. Bottom line, at a time when few quilt shops are flourishing, this one is a great source of all you need to become a happy fabric artist. Lucky us! read more

After looking long and hard for an embroidery machine for my small business in New York. I figured I take a trip to sew jersey. Not far away I thought this was a great option. Unfortunately, I was very wrong. Not only did the sales women attempt to sell me a single needle machine for 5,000 she had no interest in asking me what I was using it for, or demonstrate her other machines. I was truly bothered by this because I wanted to be able to have options in person rather than having to walk away. Originally, I told her I was very flexible with my budget, which in her mind must have meant I did not want to spend anything. Well, low and behold with her poor remarks and attitude I went to Sew & Vac in East Stroudsburg PA and spent 12,000+ on the proper equipment I needed. I am not impressed with sew jersey, nor am I impressed with the awful women they have working there who seemed like she was more interested in the price tag than actually getting to know what I wanted. read more

The worst service I have ever experienced in a small business in my life the only lady there which I think was the owner was very rude and short and offered very little help so at this point I lost interest in what I came for. Actually she disappeared and left a gentleman to help me which he was very knowledgeable of most. I also spoke with a friend after this experience and immediately he mentioned to me that he experienced the same. ILL NEVER RETURN HER AGAIN. read more

This place charged us 250$ for a machine repair and it is in worse shape now then it was prior. They will give you a run around saying the owner isn't available to talk on the phone blah blah blah. The selection of stuff in store is typical and nothing special. I can say with extreme honesty that their repair service is a sham and should be avoided at all costs. read more

Where to start... The first time I went to the store, I loved them. Very pleasant and friendly. The whole store was involved in my minor purchase of finishing fabric for my quilt. It was an easy decision to bring my quilt top to them to be quilted. I went in twice more. Once before dropping the quilt and once after. The second time they accidentally charged me double and "caught it" on my way out when they saw my studying my receipt to determine why the price was so high. Ok, people make mistakes. Not a huge issue. They fixed it. I brought my quilt top and discussed it with them and gave a date I needed it back, approximately 2 months away. The topper is a memory quilt of my mother, for my dad. So there is deep emotions attached and I did not really want to send it away. They assured me if I brought it in within the next week or two it would be done in time. I stressed that is was extremely important as my dad is coming in from 2500 miles away for my daughters wedding and it was important to give it to him in person as he will be quite sentimental. I dropped off my quilt with a reminder again that it must be completed in 6 weeks or so, giving them an exact date I must have it back. They were in complete agreement. They strongly suggested I purchase new batting for a better finished product. I spent an additional $40 for the suggested batting and again reminded them of the pick up date necessary. We discussed design, placement, and finish binding of the piece. I assume all is well. A week to 10 days past the due date I called and requested to pick up the finished quilt. They stated it has not been started. They assured me it would be started that day after making many excuses as to why it was not completed. I agreed to pick it up in two days. I gave them three and called to pick up. Again they tell me it hasn't been started with a list of reasons, none of which were valid. Several days later, same scenario. Now I am getting pretty upset. I need to add work to the piece and my daughter is getting married. I don't have time. Eventually they give me a pick up date, several weeks late. I go at agreed upon day only to find it is not completed. They again, are completely nonplussed by this and tell me "it's a good thing you didn't travel too far since we didn't call you". I get a call that night that it is ready to pick up. I come the next day as the store is closed. I didn't examine the piece well as I needed it and it didn't much matter. I did ask about many puckers and was told "you should have used cotton batting (which I originally brought) not wool. Whoever told you that was wrong. Just as importantly, the binding was not done. Their response "we don't do that anymore. You can send it out if you want". Three weeks late, I don't have time to fit it into someone else's schedule. It needs to be done and ready to give to my dad in 4 days. They looked at my purchase order and saw I did indeed request binding. Not their problem. I am now going to bind it myself. I sit down to finish it and get ready to bind it. I see up close what a terrible job was done. Many puckers, uneven edges, random squares not sewn at all. Not only this, many squares had rips and tears that were absolutely not there before. The rips and tears were not even in seams, just random places. I have no choice but to work with what I have. Did I mention I am days away from a wedding that has many of its own details to attend to? And yes, despite it all, they changed me more than the agreed upon price. No apologies along the way. They seemed to think that "we got rid of the girl who took this in. She made a lot of mistakes". And "it's not our problem", was sufficient in place of any graciousness. I was so happy to find them in the beginning. I had plans to purchase many thousands of dollars of equipment there, in addition to using them for all my future pieces. Please do not make the same mistake- avoid at all costs unless you are simply purchasing fabric and perhaps taking classes although these I can not guarantee either. read more

Came there with my pe:800 embroidery machine, An older woman assisted me. When showing her my warranty she simply said email it which I did. I get a call 2 weeks later saying I owe $75. I explain I have an warranty an younger woman very rudely in tone saying it's not covered. I explained I was still within my year and my warranty covers parts and labor.still with an attitude saying they're moving and I need to come get my machine. Mentally being drain over the phone I drove from Brooklyn nyc to the shop which is over 27 miles to get my machine. The man that was there said I never had my wire, which is odd how will they know what's going on with the machine. (so I couldn't power the machine on nor I can see if the problems with the machine was fixed.the machine was so dusty like it was left in the middle of the dirty rode .When telling him of my problems he says I have to pay beanch* fee ($55)which is pretty much labor (which I'm covered in my warranty!!!) I didn't argue I just paid and drove home. When getting home NO FREAKING WIRE!! Also a piece of my sliding bar was off! So I had to buy one off Amazon(wire). Machine still have a bad noise when powering on. Heard they moved to 36 route 10 I will not be supporting! read more

I have been coming here for several years and service has gone down greatly. Its great that someone always answers the phone, but should that person not know the answer, you will NEVER get a call back. And the thread that broke the camels back now for me was I had my machine serviced and it came back in worse condition than I dropped it off in. I called the store the next day after picking it up, and Jackie in the background saying "let me talk to Skip and I will call you back, I got you!" Yup, that didn't happen and I am just done. Spent $300 on that "service" if you want to call it that. Now have to pay for another service on it to get it working properly. read more

I'm A fairly new quilter and discovered Sew Jersey about three years ago. I don't often write reviews but it just seems a must when everything falls into place . Sew Jersey has tons of beautiful fabrics, all the most popular collections, notions, machines, patterns, you name it it's there. As good as all of that is I find the best thing is the wealth of knowledge in one place. The owner, Jacki, as well as the other staff are extremely patient , very very knowledgeable , and really quite creative. You need help, you've got it, you need an opinion, you've got it, you need guidance you've got that too. I've had all of my quilts quilted at Sew Jersey and have NEVER been disappointed . They also repair machines and offer classes in all areas of quilting. Next time you need some fabric or advice, give it a try you won't be disappointed! read more

My mom spent months making a quilt for her daughter. She bought the material here and took it back to have it quilted with batting and a backing material, all bought from here. When she picked it, they damaged her quilt! They did show her where they "repaired" it , and said the lighting is bad in the store. They over sold her the backing material because they over cut it! On further inspection at home, while they were piecing the back they turned a section and its very obvious! The batting in is crimped in a spot and made a lump. On the front exactly on the opposite "repair" is a HOLE! There is many threads that have to be trimmed that they left! The kicker is they charged her FULL price ! Dont use them , they ruined her quilt top! read more
