The nurses are nice, well trained, and for the most part, the appointments run on time. What I do not like is every single time I try to check out, the receptionists ask if they can sell me anything else. I am certain this is due to their training and I don't blame them, but it makes the checkout process longer and awkward because I just want to schedule my next appointment and leave after having half my body lasered. The last time I checked out, I was told about how I will need 'maintenance' hair removal (because my current results may not last forever) and was recommended to purchase a pack of 12 sessions to use one every 6 months. I quickly declined and the receptionist (very nice) asked why and I didn't have the heart to tell her that I not only found the price crazy but buying a package I will be using years in advance is not of interest to me. I said I would maybe consider purchasing this on black Friday and she said there usually isn't deals on maintenance laser hair removal at that time and only when I'm checking out after my last few regular appointments. That policy isn't her fault but definitely makes me not want to use this company again-prices should be published online and be clear for everyone and up front. My daughter is a dermatologist and recommended Dr. Hendi to me after extensively researching MOHS surgeons in my area of the country. Dr. Hendi's office is a good two-hour drive from my home, but it was well worth the effort to get there. His practice is located in a very nice suburb of Washington D.C., and there is a Marriott Courtyard just down the street from Dr. Hendi's office, (a very short walk away). I booked a room in the Marriott since my surgery was scheduled to begin early in the morning and I didn't want to fight rush-hour traffic. There is a Metro station (again, a short walking distance away), so we rode into the city for a nice dinner the evening before my procedure. The hotel was very accommodating about allowing a late check-out the next afternoon. Dr. Hendi's office and waiting area are very well-appointed and comfortable, but being able to walk back and lie down following the procedure while waiting for the staining process to be completed, (to ensure no additional tissue needed to be removed -- a lengthy process), was a real advantage. I cannot say enough about Dr. Hendi's skills. I had MOHS surgery on my cheek on August 21, 2019. The area that had to be removed was much larger than I imagined it would be and I fully expected some evidence of the surgery to remain forever given the amount of tissue that had to be removed. When planning the placement of sutures to close the wound, Dr. Hendi had me smile and make normal facial expressions while he planned and drew a pattern for his sutures on my cheek. Now, just a little over a month later the wound is fully closed, and even family members can't tell that anything happened unless I point out the area. I have started the massage procedure that Dr. Hendi included in his very comprehensive and easy to follow post-surgery instructions. His assistant assured me that after following the massage regimen, no one but Dr. Hendi, his staff and myself will ever know anything happened. I fully believe that, although with the way the wound has currently healed I am perfectly satisfied if this is as good as it gets! I hope that I have developed enough renewed respect for sunscreen that I never need MOHS surgery again, but if I do there is only one place I will be going for the procedure, regardless of where I live or how long a flight I have to make.... Dr. Hendi and his crew are that good!

He is the reason for the 5 star review--not the Advanced Dermatology company (see below). However, the front end access to AD is horrible (e.g., making appointments with a specific Dr, reaching a real person). It is so bad that at times I have thought about switching to another practice even though it would mean losing Dr. Barnett. They have automated access to the point that it is virtually impossible to reach a real person to get help with anything that is not able to be handled by their IT front end (like unusual/non-typical circumstances that you may have that require speaking to a live agent). I find it extremely frustrating to deal with their front end and it seems to be getting worse over time. AD is a huge company that has obviously invested heavily in IT, so it does not have to deal/talk with real live patients. Based on my last interaction, they are employing AI bots (not just chats) to communicate with patients. And worse news, companies like AD have taken over virtually all independent practices so that it is extremely difficult to find an alternative independent practice that might provide better customer service.

We tried to take our 84 year old Father to this office to get a skin lesion on his head checked…read moreout. He is immobile and needs to be transported to his appointments by ambulance. After we took our Father to see his GP, our care givers tried to take our Father in a stretcher over for his appointment. Note that we had a $500 out of pocket expense to transport our Father to his appointment in this manner. The office staff refused service because they said the office was too small. It is hard to understand why they couldn't get one of their providers to at least take a look at the lesion on his head out in the hallway given the effort taken to try and get seen. Their best suggestion was to go to their Rockville office which is bigger and can accommodate a stretcher. I can understand there are limitations and set backs but given the circumstances I would have liked to see a bit more flexibility, compassion and service instead of recommending he spend another $500 to get transported to their other office. This level of health care and laziness is extremely disappointing.
