The bad - I was given an estimate of the time it would probably take for the move. I asked specifically if the estimate was firm or by the hour. I was told 2 men, a truck by the hour. When it was time to pay, the cost was much higher than I expected. I inquired and was told that travel time TO/FROM the location(s) was counted. That's like getting paid to drive to/from work. I would never have agreed to this had I known. This means they charged me 1.5 hours for travel time outside of any work being done and not when stuff was in the truck. They arrived at 10:30 and were done at 2:20 and we were charged 5.5 hours. I've moved a ton and no reputable company would do this. And the kicker was a $175 truck fee. The truck was a U-Haul I could have rented for $30/day. Even adding gas etc we are nowhere near what was charged. This was a local move mind you. Distance between locations maybe 15 miles. Exercise caution regarding undisclosed charges. Despite signing a contract with a specific price,…read morewe were subjected to an additional $700 in charges upon the delivery of our furniture. This situation constitutes a deceptive practice. A company lacking in trustworthiness should not be awarded any positive ratings. Additionally, be cautious that they may damage your property and subsequently hold you responsible for the incident. Their moving truck left an oil stain on our driveway, and they are claiming that due to the delay in paying our bill (as we were disputing the charges, but we promptly informed them of the stain the very next day), the stain set in. Despite their efforts, the stain remains, and it is not our fault. You sent a damaged vehicle to our property, causing the damage. This is a lesson learned, never again.

American Moving and Storage recently moved our family (my wife and I) to Idaho. It wasn't a large…read moremove (one bedroom apartment), and consequently, wasn't a huge cost. But Dana Gaudry and Brooks treated us like we were their only client. Never in my life have I been treated so well by the owner of a company. Any questions we had, we could email customer service or call American Moving and Storage. Dana was very prompt in his responses, answering every email the same business day, and in the calls we made to AMS, if the representative we were speaking with couldn't answer the question, they didn't lie to us just to get us off the phone. They truly took the time to ask whoever could answer us, and again, made us feel like we meant the world to them. The moving team arrived at our apartment promptly at 9:30am, moved everything from our old home to the moving truck in a matter of hours, and unloaded our belongings to our new home in an even shorter amount of time. Even with our 350-pound California King mattress and other large items, the moving team was very efficient in how they moved our belongings, even when having to navigate the small stairwell leading to our 3rd floor apartment. American Moving and Storage made this move very easy. I cannot thank Dana, Brooks and our moving team enough. Our move was nearly stress-free, all thanks to AMS.
