I have moved quite a few times in my lifetime & American Movers is a 5 star company! Dee Hughes helped me get things all set up for the move & then into storage, & they did not disappoint after Dee retired! I was "on hold" waiting for my 2 month commitment to end then found out I had to extend my rental for 6 months! The 4 professional movers were very respectful, kind, helpful, conscientious, & did a fabulous job! I've ALWAYS had complaints but during this move I had 0 complaints! I'm very impressed!! read more

American moving was supposed to move me about 350 miles from Fl to GA. They contracted my move out to Oceans Moving who was absolutely terrible. Don't listen or trust what they say cause everything they have you sign says something different than what they verbally promise you. They sold out my move to a company that has awful awful reviews and I feel pretty betrayed. The sales guy was nice, I trusted them and I regret it I still don't have any of my belongings and the drop off date keeps getting pushed back. American might have decent reviews but THEY WILL SELL YOU OUT. read more

If I could give them ZERO stars I would. I have moved over 15 times in my life and many of those moves were cross country. Most went well and not many issues. But the move that American Moving & Storage did for me was a team that did not know how to load & unload as American uses part time temps to get their costs down with no training. They mishandled many items, had too small of a van, jammed the items in and actually did not sequence the load properly, expensive oriental rug was not even rolled but thrown in to the van, not enough pads, did not properly cover most items, the supervisor did not address the issues as we both saw them happening. Even mattresses were torn/ how can that happen??? The unloading was even worse and there was damage to the condo destination as well as to the house in Pooler. Hard wood floors damaged, walls scraped, busted Henredon desk, curio cabinet chipped and broken glass/ , and many other damages. This move had a claim of over $30,000. National came several months later offered a fraction of the damage, so I had to get an arbitrator selected by National & you know how that went. The arbitrator who is in Michigan and never visits and reviews the claim off site, came in with a LOWER number. I never experienced anything like this and lessons learned. Most important is to read the moving company reviews, if there are only a couple then ask for a phone number of a customer so that you can call them---verify they use full time, properly trained employees and not people off the street, STOP THE MOVE IF ANYTHING DOES NOT SEEM RIGHT AND HAVE THE AGENT COME TO YOUR PLACE, and if the people do not look like they know what they are doing, shut it down. It still frustrates me that customers have so little recourse with moving claims due to industry regs, and take note that all claims get a depreciation factored into the settlement. Verify the company and do not take your eyes off the moving team on both ends of the move. Research is needed and consistently review the team on site during the move. read more

This All American Moving Pooler and Savannah, GA., hires dishonest and unscrupulous help. Had (2) of their guys move my expensive custom made furniture this past Saturday. Was a short 2 hour move. I was helping as well. While I was assembling the bed at the new location the guys were unloading the truck and removing the packing blankets. At some point they dropped one of the $3K chairs and chipped and broke one of the legs. They turned the chair towards the wall hoping I would not notice. I actually had tipped these two guys prior to seeing this damage. I called the owner Rick, he said he would send out his "wood guy". That's fine for a cosmetic issue. Extent of the damage at this writing is undetermined. Point is : Do Not Trust these guys! If they damage your pieces They will not admit it, They will cover it up, hide the evidence and They will drive away with an undeserved tip. Scum bags. read more

American Moving and Storage recently moved our family (my wife and I) to Idaho. It wasn't a large move (one bedroom apartment), and consequently, wasn't a huge cost. But Dana Gaudry and Brooks treated us like we were their only client. Never in my life have I been treated so well by the owner of a company. Any questions we had, we could email customer service or call American Moving and Storage. Dana was very prompt in his responses, answering every email the same business day, and in the calls we made to AMS, if the representative we were speaking with couldn't answer the question, they didn't lie to us just to get us off the phone. They truly took the time to ask whoever could answer us, and again, made us feel like we meant the world to them. The moving team arrived at our apartment promptly at 9:30am, moved everything from our old home to the moving truck in a matter of hours, and unloaded our belongings to our new home in an even shorter amount of time. Even with our 350-pound California King mattress and other large items, the moving team was very efficient in how they moved our belongings, even when having to navigate the small stairwell leading to our 3rd floor apartment. American Moving and Storage made this move very easy. I cannot thank Dana, Brooks and our moving team enough. Our move was nearly stress-free, all thanks to AMS. read more

Horrible, horrible experience with them. If I hadn't been so exhausted, I would probably have sued them. I set the date a full month in advance and then they screwed me over for some more lucrative military jobs and tried to bump it to a Monday, which was impossible. When I held them to the date, they bumped it to Sunday and gave me the D-Team who were literally--literally--throwing my furniture onto the truck. They took 12 hours for a two bedroom bungalow to go 5 miles and gave me zero satisfaction afterwords. These people are all talk. read more

Was impressed with Rick all the way through. But lesson learned: if you have anything of value, especially breakable and of value, move them yourself. Aside from small damages to furniture pieces here and there... Mostly dings and abrasions from pads I assume... We lost a 5 foot cast bronze crane statue, one of a pair that are not replaceable, nor repairable ( can't easily fix cast bronze). One of the movers tried to hide the two broken pieces under the golf cart seat. He claims he didnt know it was so fragile, that is after walking the whole team thru my house, pointing out important items, this pair of cranes, especially. Golf cart and zero turn mower were not properly tied down inside a second truck, and one of them clipped the cranes legs clean off. If you use this company, watch the workers like hawks. One other example: taking 4-5 small boxes of breakables, clearly marked as such, down two brick stairs viaa a handtruck. Ok if you take it slow.... This guy banged the handtruck down the stairs and I could hear the dishes rattle inside. I stopped him, told him not to handle our stuff that way and marked those particular boxes again to check carefully at the end of the move. Luckily no damage. But cant say the same about the crane and 4 wood pieces damaged, and a dented/scratched washer & dryer. So, take your important stuff yourself.. Even if it means a few trips, or a small truck. I am sure this company has some great movers... We got the B team. UPDATE: all furniture repairs were covered by this mover and the work was professionally done by Weathersby Restoration ( they were fantastic, from initial assessment visit to final repairs). Now if only the crane could be fixed..... read more

Do not use this company. The day before we moved Chris called and said the quote increased by $800 and if we did not oblige, they would not pick up our stuff. The day of drop off, our boxes labelled "Fragile" were returned to us upside down, dishes and glasses smashed. A full length mirror they packed was broken. Boxes were in horrible shape - liquid stained, inside products melted and broken. The movers add "Long Carry" fees because they stated the "length of the truck itself" was longer than 75ft and therefore required extra work. They tried to charge $100 for every 50ft, instead of the $75 for 75ft on the signed contract. When speaking with Chris, he said we had to pay the $100. This company lacks integrity, strong arms its consumers, and is overall unsafe. I would strongly recommend another company. Please look up their record in the National Consumer Complaint Database before making a terrible decision for your precious goods. read more

But the owner of the company refuses to handle any claims you may have or return any phone calls and conducts business in the most unprofessional manner. This company is truly as good as it gets. I had a scheduled move with a large major moving company. They did not show up to move me. I had to go to the closing of my home with my stuff still in the house, I was beside myself..not knowing where to turn. My realtor suggested American Moving and Storage. Rick not only said he would help me at the spur of the moment, but treated me like his own family member. I felt as though angels from heaven had come to rescue me. This company quite literally saved this widow from losing the sale of my home by rushing to my aide. The young men he sent were courteous, professional and trustworthy. The worst phony broker company. They charged me $1000.00 beyond the cubic feet. They never answer calls, and delivered my furnitures after 4 weeks with broken dining chairs and tables. Hey, make sure you shop well before you endup in thieves hands. read more

American Moving and Storage recently moved our large family (of 12) across town. We had planned this huge move and were concerned when it started pouring down rain. However, the men were unfazed. They worked ten hours straight while children and pets ran around and the thunder clapped. Frank and Walker were excellent movers. Most impressive was their creative maneuvering of our enormous 4 poster bed and granite armoire from the second floor. They snaked their way down and we did not have to remove the rails, it was an amazing feat! We are pleased to post this review as we are grateful to AMS. They truly made the move painless. read more
