I've been using them for several years. Very honest and great service. I would definitely recommend them.

Aram is a stand up guy - one of the only honest mechanics around! I have been here multiple times and Aram has always offered the lowest prices, best work, and a word that he will keep. This time I was doing a large repair with my car for preventative maintenance, he gave me a very good quote and even worked off some money due to the labor time he would save if we combine services. I was hoping the repair would take 2 days like they quoted but it ended up taking a couple more days due to unforeseen issues, things that lesser mechanics would have brushed off and sent me on my way without repairing. Instead of leaving me without a car for longer than expected, Aram offered me his own do drive to and from work. He is upfront, easy to work with, and when he agrees on a price, he keeps to it and does the job right! I will be going back to Aram with any and every car I have in the future. read more

I give it not even 1 stars (just had to), the bullshit I was put through due to the shit this place put me through , For two whole weeks My car had been shaking and the engine light on I got it checked before I sent it in to this place that the guy I bought the car from (yes I barely owned the car for less than a week)!I decided I really liked the car ide be willing to wait which shouldn't have been that long Literally had me feeling as if I wasn't getting my car back I had to go back n fourth to this place almost every other day cause I felt something shady was goin on Everyday I would call to see if it was done and everyday Aly ady whatever his name was would give me a different excuse for why it wasn't done . He told me and my friend that they had to put the codes in and the system was down one day supposedly had some guy who he introduced us to that he was paying his 250$ an hour ,comes walking up to us with a cig in his hand (no professionalism about the guy) And anyways I had to fork out 400$ for this places work the total was 1,400 that was supposed to be paid to them And that he got from the guy who sold me the car who paid it and Aly had not mentioned to me that he was already paid in full when I gave him my money luckily only 300$ but he said it was okay that I could come by the next day to pay him the other 100$ What a fucken scam artist straight up wouldn't recommend this place at all nor recommend driving near this place imtheres bad written all over this place and the owners in its, long story short after the 2 weeks of them having my car and my friend telling his it better be done soon he calls me the next day says he fixed it all couple hours intondrivingbthenengine light turns on and immediately noticed he fucked up my air conditioning which worked before I gave them my car and the shaking was still happening! What the hell did they do with my car that they had it for 2 weeks and not one thing was fixed ? What was this guys plan my intuition was telling me very strongly that something wasn't rite ! I'm lucky I got my car back ! It's sad , pathetic, scumbaggish , no good words for them . read more

It's great that I can walk in and ask for an oil change, and it gets done right away. I have known Saeed many years and I can highly recommend him as a man of integrity. His shop is really good at fixing cars, too. I'm glad I moved over to his side of town so he can take care of my Prius, which I rely upon for my living. read more

I have been going there for over 15 years and have never had a bad experience. They ( Especially Saed) always goes out of their way to be helpful and they are honest. I highly recommend them. If only every company did business this way read more

This shop is a great place to go to if you need help ASAP. I bring my car in whenever I need to and every time I am met with friendly and respectful staff. I am not car savvy and they take the time to explain to me what my car needs, the cost, and my options. They dont patronize you for not knowing about cars like at other places and for big jobs try to work with you in terms of budget. They are patient and kind. This is literally far from where I live and make myself go here because they are honestly the best. read more

The owner stated that he did not believe in COVID-19 and refused to put on a mask. He believes it has been blown out of proportion. Once we stated that for safety and that it was very real, he jokingly said that he hopes he gets it to prove its real. Obviously this is a serious health code violation and complete nonsense. He should not be in operation if he doesn't follow the mandated guidelines. The man who worked on our car was great and actually wore a mask. It's a shame he works for someone like that. read more

By rear brakes were not releasing and car was smoking and I was unable to drive it anymore. I pulled into a gas station and was trying to locate a tow company. I walked into Set Apart Automotive and even though they were closed, the owner came out and looked at my car, stored it overnight, diagnosed and fixed the problem for far less than the tow charge would have been. Amazing service! read more

This place is the best! The owner, Saeed, is the nicest, most soft-spoken man who really knows his business! His prices are very below competitive, so I always go away feeling like I got a bargain! read more

Did you think you'd never see the words "auto mechanic" and "honest" in the same sentence? Well. Shut the front door because this is your day! For nearly 20 years, we've been taking our cars to Syeed (forgive my spelling) at the Set Apart Auto - all of them - old ones and brand new ones. We found him through a friend referral and have since referred everyone we know to him. If he were only honest, that would probably be enough, right? But this gentleman is also excellent at what he does, competitively priced, and a true gentleman. My hubby and I hope you stop by and give him the opportunity to help you maintain your prized auto. read more

If I could rate them 20 stars, I would. We were referred by some good friends of ours. They have been taking their cars to Saeed for a decade. The catalytic converter went out in our Hyundai SUV and the dealer wanted $3500 for the repair. Awk!!! So we took a chance and took the car to Saeed. He was able to do the repair for $880. Wow. I'll be a customer forever! Plus, he is super nice. I know he gets really busy but the good guys always do. read more

My first visit here was after leaving Pep Boys who tried really hard to up sell my mom and I tires and a balance for an insane amount of money. We stopped here because they sold tires. The mechanic took one look at our tires and said we didn't need new ones for a while, which was a relief! He did the balance the same day and left satisfied. The second time, my car needed a few issues fixed. Saeed knew what my cost limitations were and worked with it. I'm glad I stumbled into his shop because so far, it's been nothing but great service an most importantly, honesty. read more

My whole family has been taking our cars, old and new, European, American, Japanese (or you name it) to Saeed over the span of more than 20 years, always getting the best and most trusted service! It is great to have such an honest and caring mechanic that can offer a perfect service over so many years! Thank You Saeed, read more

If you are looking for an honest mechanic - then you can stop right now !!! I've been taking my cars to Saaed for over 16 yrs. (and the buddy who told me about them was going there 8 yrs. before that & had nothing but good things to say). How often does a mechanic give you a quote & when you notice the final bill is LESS than expected, tells you "well...we were able to fix one of the parts so we didn't charge you to replace it" OR how about "I didn't charge you for brand-new rotors 'cause the old ones just needed a little sanding & now are working fine." Saeed (the owner) also gives you options ("you can buy the cheapest parts OR get dealer parts OR buy something in-between") and will give you his recommendations ALONG with the reasons for his advice. Finally, Saeed has helped me PLAN my auto repairs by explaining how different automotive systems work together. This has enabled me to fix the MAJOR thing today (to get my car back on the road) but also plan for future repairs so that the whole system doesn't need to be replaced later (because I neglected to fix everything all at once). He knows that most of us don't have an unlimited Auto Repair Budget & tells me what are essential repairs & what repairs I can put-off for now (along with a price estimate so I can start saving for the next time). Can't even begin to tell you how much piece of mind I have had because I know Saeed will always give me an honest opinion & isn't looking for ways to rip me off (like some other auto shops I've been to in the past). His goal is getting your car working again (not price gouging you because you are vulnerable & NEED a car). read more

I am a second generation customer here!!! Grew up with my mom bringing her Durango here and later on her Chrysler. Honest mechanic, goes the extra mile to find cheap or used parts to save us money. Great mechanic to go to if you know NOTHING about cars. My husband was out of town and Saeed popped the hood and explained to me what needed to be repaired and showed me charts as well until I understood (we have a classic diesel from the 70s). Told me to have my husband call him to explain the work to be done! He specializes in old Mercedes which is awesome. Will work with you on a payment plan if need be. My siblings and family friends all come here. Great service, sometimes VERY busy, but great. Family shop kind of vibe. read more

Set A Part Automotive - Auto Repair Near Me - Van Nuys, California

Very honest mechanic. Took my car here because something was leaking from my car. It was the end of the workday for them, so I left my car there. After 5 minutes I got a call saying that he checked my car and the oil filter wasn't properly installed(it was done by another company). He told me to take my car to where I got my oil change so they can take a look. Came back and got my car the same day. He didn't charge me anything and gave me a written statement to take with me. I will definitely be back here and will recommend to all my friends. read more

Set A Part Auto was recommended to my husband 20 years ago by a co-worker when Saeed Rad was at his former location on Van Nuys Blvd. near Sherman Way. Saeed, the owner of Set A Part Auto, is a remarkable mechanic, team supervisor & businessman. He is one of the most modest, responsible, & ethical "businessmen" I have ever met--& as a retired UCLA administrator + businesswoman, trust me--I know whereof I speak! Shame on us for not recommending him a lot sooner! We thank him for all of his excellent recommendations, fair prices, & incredible consideration for driving us home in a time of need. read more

Given that it was the closest mechanic to my apartment, I decided to go there to repair my vehicle. Went there the first time to reattach the hood's lever, and a second time to fix the upstream oxygen sensor and repair the vacuum leak under intake. The owner inspires trust when you see him, you can tell he is a serious man who is not trying to get all your money. He has always been nice and patient when explaining me what was wrong on my car, and he has of course done a great job at fixing issues. We need more mechanics like him, will continue coming back for sure! read more

I've been taking my cars to Sayeed at Set A Part for more than 20 years now. Professional, trustworthy, and reliable are how I would describe the service here. He has the utmost integrity. I once took my car to a Toyota dealership on a recall notice. They told me that it wasn t safe to drive my car and would cost almost $2,000 to repair. I called Sayeed and he inspected the car and it was only minor repairs needed. Since then, I ve never considered taking my car anywhere else. read more

The first time I went to see Said I was referred by a friend 5 years ago. I have been a repeat customer ever since. The first repair involved the cars internal computer that was "broken". I could have replaced is for big $$$$, but Said thought he could reprogram it and I said sure. He was successful and I saved money. I have been going back ever since, even now that I have moved to Playa Del Rey from the valley. Said is very professional and personable and his sidekick Bernardo is a great mechanic. My car is old and it is still on the road thanks to Said. If my friend hadn't recommended him I would be driving a new car, have a big car payment and high insurance rates. Luckily, my 15-year-old Ford Focus keeps on going. Just like the Energizer Bunny. Thanks Said and Bernardo!! read more
