    I am so happy I found Sessions! I had always been a workout class fanatic (pilates, spinning, hiit, barre etc), but only began to see real changes when I started strength training with a personal trainer. Problem is personal trainers are typically $$$$ and I couldn't continue that long term. Sessions solved this! At Sessions you get all the pluses of a personal trainer, but without the crazy cost. The monthly detailed check in meetings with body scans paired with personal attention at every session help the coaches to develop the perfect individualized program. As I have progressed I have seen the evolution of my programming and have enjoyed the workouts tailored to what I need and changing just enough to keep it fun and interesting. I also love that the coaches always push me (no matter how much I whine) and are always keeping an eye on my form and giving modifications when needed. They don't mess around. Oh and you can't beat the community! I have FUN when I'm there getting my ass kicked. Literally laughing in between dying during sets. The coaches, members, everyone working there - it's good vibes and good energy and it makes me WANT to go train. Check them out!

    Found this place while on a walk with my newborn a couple of months ago. I was a member at another gym nearby, but was ready to really get back at it after having my 2nd kid. I was looking for something that could give me a bit more motivation, accountability, and ultimately, results. Sessions checks all of those boxes. One of the owners, Evan, met with me later that day to discuss my goals, assess my postpartum fitness level, sleep and nutrition, and get me in for a trial Session. I was sold - the trainers are attentive, knowledgeable and encouraging, the space looks amazing, and the personalized programming is challenging yet enjoyable. After years of winging it with different, online, one-size-fits-all programming, it feels great to be connected to a neighborhood team invested in my success!

    I'm loving the gym so far! I came in with some difficulty in my knee, and Evan and Jake have been super accommodating. I wanted to get back into fitness without continuous injury, and for every move, I was provided an alternative or modification based on my comfort level. Now, I'm on week 4, and I can really feel the difference. I can squat again and do push-ups and other core exercises on the injured knee without pain. Mission accomplished. Now, I'm onto the weight loss side of it all, heavily reliant on my nutrition and not just in-session training. I can't wait to see the combined results. Notes: The parking is super easy as they have a garage lot, and they offer 6 am sessions that work perfectly with my work schedule. The 55-minute session has you in and out with no fuss. Plus, the founding member deal they offered with 2 free weeks made the cost manageable. It's an investment, but well worth it if you are a former athlete, have various injuries, or just want personalized workouts based on your preferences. That's why this is different from CrossFit. It's not WOD style workouts.

    I've been going to Sessions for 11 months and won't be going anywhere else! The trainers are approachable, super knowledgeable and fun to be around. The community is a welcoming space and there is PARKING!!! S/O to the whole team for making me a strong, confident woman!

    Sessions is my happiest place on earth. I've been training at Sessions since January 2023 and it's changed my life. I can walk into Sessions having had a terrible day and without fail I leave feeling happier, clearer-minded, and most of all - STRONGER. The team at Sessions provides a safe, comfortable, and personalized environment for every individual to meet their own goals (and no one else's). They push you hard, but never pressure you and I truly feel like I've been met where I'm at. The confidence and joy I get from going to the gym has increased tenfold and time FLIES when I'm there. Beyond the high quality foundation, the team is also committed to continuing to improve their model and client experience. I love the current model of a rotating program so I can track progress in certain areas while also mixing things up and avoiding stale, stagnant workout plans. I genuinely can't picture my week without my afternoons at Sessions - my favorite place with my favorite people!!

Within a year (but it happened within a few months) Michelle has taken me from a person who not only dreaded weight training and even the gym, but felt bad about being so inconsistent. She makes workouts fun, varied, and is committed to correct form -- she can explain as little or as MUCH about anatomy and fitness as you want, as she goes deep and stays current. Most of all, she knows how to work with and motivate a middle aged woman like me going through menopause! I feel more appreciative of what my body can do and notice when I'm hiking or in yoga my stamina and strength is so so much better than it was before I started working with her. And, if it matters, she is also very flexible with schedule changes, which has been a huge plus for me as an entrepreneur that is often shifting with client needs. We have worked in person and remotely, both are top top notch. THANK YOU MICHELLE! You've changed my life in so many ways!

I went to the Venice one and the spot was actually much bigger than it looked from outside. Alex, the trainer for my Run and Lift early morning class, was super welcoming and totally delivering top-notch first-timer experience for me, paying detailed attention that I got the instructions correctly and did the right movements. The intensity of the workout forced me to my limit, but they did let people do it on their own pace. The complementary facilities like locker, shower room, and even free towels made bunch of plus points, though one downside might be I'd prefer it to be cleaner (read: the women's bathroom might need more frequent cleaning especially with shedding hair). You did have the option to indulge post the workouts by getting their smoothies, which was also available to be pre-ordered and tailored to your preference by customizing the ingredients. Not to mention, the Venice one had plenty of free parking spaces!

I'm also an avid surfer and snowboarder and had just let my desk job get the better of me and needed a jumpstart to get back into shape and a real habit of fitness and training. And I got all of that and more. Whitney's technique-driven approach with weightlifting and focus on improving my diet helped me gain 20 lbs of muscle and lose probably 5 lbs of fat/water weight over the course of 5 months. She is a true "coach", which kept me motivated, and she cares about her client's improvements, including not just in the weight room, but outside via diet and lifestyle. It's a full 360 approach. Whitney helped me identify my greatest points of weakness (for me, legs, chest and glutes) and coached me how to properly isolate those muscle groups and I saw gains I've never realized during previous bouts of weight training. She took great care to understand my health and fitness goals before starting our sessions and was adaptable throughout our sessions as my needs changed. Whitney would keep a sharp eye on my form during every session and follow up with helpful tips for nutrition and workouts to work on in between our sessions. I've always been an athlete but was feeling a bit unmotivated and a little unbalanced with my current routine. Jen's knowledge of fitness, yoga and anatomy helped me improve my form, strength and mobility. Many of the exercises targeted tiny imbalances that I would never have trained on my own. But as far as the full CrossFit experience, this gym does not deliver. Coaching: This was the biggest problem here. While a few of the coaches are great (Chelsea and Greg), this was the exception, not the rule. Two big issues: (1) Firstly, there are so many coaches and they don't seem to have set schedules, so it's impossible to know who will be leading your class. This made it tough to build relationships with them, and also made for a disjointed experience since every coach's instruction is different. (2) Secondly, a lot of the coaches are disengaged and seem uninterested in connecting with members. When I joined, *most* of the coaches didn't even bother to introduce themselves to me when I was a new member in their class. Some never did the whole time I was a member. It often felt like they were there to get paid, and that was that. Programming: The WODs here were all over the place. We would often work the same muscle groups multiple days in a row (e.g. heavy Clean + Push Jerks one day, then heavy Strict Press the next), or we'd work full body for no reason (e.g. pairing heavy back squats with heavy bench press). This deterred me from going daily since the muscles in question would often be too sore from the day prior. After 6 months of working out here, I stayed static at best and may actually have regressed in my ability. Community: Most clients here are friendly enough, and there is diversity in age, body type, and ability, which I liked. However, members at both locations don't go out of their way to chat to newbies; the regulars have their cliques and aren't interested in branching out. Additionally, there were rarely partner WODs or other intentional efforts from coaches / management to facilitate relationship-building among members. Unfortunately, I just did not find any real sense of community here.
