I'm a little hesitant to write this review since it's only been six weeks that I've been training with Daniel but with my previous trainer I waited 7 months before writing a review and things went downhill shortly after that so I guess if I'm jinxed and destined to repeat that cycle then it's better Daniel is out of my life sooner than later, right? Wrong! Wrong in that I know that cycle has already been broken.
This has been a bittersweet process for me, bitter due to my relationship with my very first trainer not working out, sweet because of finding Daniel. I came to Daniel with a lot of baggage but was open about it with him before we ever met and had our first session and I will say he handled it like a champion, not to mention a true professional. I won't say he held my hand or just told me what I wanted to hear, because he didn't, what he did do was with my concerns and issues find the positives between us and how those were a good fit for us to be able to have a healthy and compatible working relationship. Daniel truly is balanced!
Now on to the training... First I should say I found Daniel on my own, his bio posted below on this Yelp page spoke to me as did his skinny man program that he offers. And now after training with him a while Bia N's review really resonates with me as does Lucy Y's. After the first couple of sessions I thought his workouts were pretty comparable to my previous trainer's. Actually during the first workout I thought I was basically walking through the session until I realized that this second time around was different, I wasn't starting from scratch, that I started with a good foundation and the basics garnered from my past trainer and was able to do the exercises without as much correction as I once did. The real tell tale sign that I didn't just walk through that first session was when I escaped to my car afterwards and sat down in the seat and discovered my t-shirt was absolutely soaking wet with sweat...lol!!! I was so nervous that first time that I forgot my normal routine of changing out of my wet top before getting into the car. Then it was about week 3 or 4 that my head cleared and I knew I had not just made a lateral move but instead had moved on to the next level and was being challenged with every step, squat, curl, etc... and along with that getting nailed right and left for my form...lol!!!
The one thing none of his clients' reviews prepared me for was how much attention Daniel pays to YOUR diet and what an integral part of his training program it is. I avoided other trainers simply because all they talked about was that your diet is as important if not more important than what you do in the gym. So ultimately I ran right into exactly what I was trying to avoid...ugh! One week I made the mistake of telling him I only had McD's once that week. I have found Daniel does not guilt you, nor preach to you, nor treat you like a student even though you are in essence one, instead all he did was say to me "Please, no more McD's" and since then sadly I have not consumed a single French fry nor anything else from McD's. I miss my fries! Another time I mentioned that I usually had potato chips with my sandwiches at lunch. Again, nothing more than "not good" and I haven't eaten a single chip since. It's eerie I tell you! I told Daniel he's like a Trojan computer virus that infects your computer, you don't know that something other than you is in control of it. He's taken over, really he has...lol! Luckily my anti-virus/malware is holding up in the coffee area although it is becoming increasingly difficult to enjoy all the afternoon cups I used to savor now that I am at least consuming equal amounts of water to coffee. Yeah, he mentioned hydration to me hence the water intake. One last thing, I found Daniel is not into using sports/workout supplements and in place of them he expects you to eat your way there so you've been warned.
Know that Daniel only preaches what he practices, he doesn't ask or expect anything of you that he himself doesn't or wouldn't do. Although I still have hopes of corrupting him and getting him to cave and eat an entire box of Girl Scout cookies in one sitting...lol!!! read more
