Love me some Barry's. Now that I've started, I'm hooked. Cheers to my friend Alex R for getting me in the groove and Gabi M for starting our week together here. Alex's Monday morning class was epic and I love the set up at this location. Easy to park, convenient smoothies ready for you after class, and a great studio. read more

if you're looking to be motivated by a man in a skirt...or instructors with no muscle definition and low energy this is the place for you. i have been going to barrys for about 8 years because of motivating, strong bodied instructors in nyc, venice and santa monica. i dont know why but this business has gone to shit over the last 2 years i have expressed my disappointment to managers, they agree - do not waste your money $35 per class to listen to shit music and chubby flat tire instructor read more

My very first Barry's class and absolutely lovin' it! My friends who know how much I loce running have kept asking me to go and saying I would certainly be hooked and they're nothing but right! I went to the Venice one and the spot was actually much bigger than it looked from outside. Alex, the trainer for my Run and Lift early morning class, was super welcoming and totally delivering top-notch first-timer experience for me, paying detailed attention that I got the instructions correctly and did the right movements. The intensity of the workout forced me to my limit, but they did let people do it on their own pace. The complementary facilities like locker, shower room, and even free towels made bunch of plus points, though one downside might be I'd prefer it to be cleaner (read: the women's bathroom might need more frequent cleaning especially with shedding hair). You did have the option to indulge post the workouts by getting their smoothies, which was also available to be pre-ordered and tailored to your preference by customizing the ingredients. Not to mention, the Venice one had plenty of free parking spaces! read more

Best location of Barry's in LA and of all the ones I've been to. Wonderful amenities, attentive and friendly staff, amazing trainers and fun classes. They know their classes are pricier but they deliver on the quality to ensure its worth it. read more

Name an instructor at Barry's Venice and I'll tell you why they are amazing! I take Alex, Klaudia, Larry and Martin on a regular basis. They all kick ass and this work out is not only challenging each time but builds confidence and resilience. 10/10 highly recommend! read more

I absolutely love Barry's Bootcamp!! The workout, the instructors, the facility, the people at the front desk, the free and easy parking, and the music; are all 10/10 and make Barry's so great. They have two studios at this location. The upper studio is only for LIFT, where you work with dumbbells, bands, etc. The lower is RUN & LIFT; it has treadmills and benches where you rotate between cardio and weights. This is actually my favorite combination. I love to start on the treadmill and go on the floor to do some strength. You rotate twice between the treadmills and the floor. The people who come here are mostly all in great shape. I find it Inspiring! The women's bathroom has clean showers, towels, a hair dryer, tampons, deodorant, etc. Note: If you are beginning your fitness journey, I think you will find Barry's too fast-paste. There is only one instructor for each class and not enough one-on-one guidance. The class flow moves fast. The loud music and dark red light make it a bit more challenging to get the instructor's attention for assistance. read more

The best Barry's studio in So Cal Westside. Compared to Santa Monica and Brentwood, it's just so much roomier. The red room is massive and you don't feel so cramped. Also helps either the high ceilings. The second floor has their smaller lift room and also a little stretch area. They recently did a little facelift in decor. It's starting to feel a bit dated where they should try to spruce up the locker rooms but tbd on that. Also, they have a huge parking lot. It's shared with other business but at least it's free without anything validation. Solid Barry's with great accommodations and some of the best instructors in So Cal. read more

The team at Barry's Venice is truly outstanding. From check-in to workout to post-class they are always 100% customer focused. The workouts are extremely well run by expert instructors with great music and I always feel uplifted after. Highly recommend if you haven't been. The investment is well worth it. read more

Stopped my membership at Anytime to find a new gym. Ive tried most gyms in the westside and Barrys is by far better than Orange Theory and F45 if you like class type/HIIT/tabata type exceercise. I appreciated they had an affordable 3 class pass. Steffan is awesome! Upbeat, funny, and knowledgeable about working your body. Really kept us motivated during class. I took him same day and time and he had a different floor routine which I appreciate they switch up. The front staff is also super nice. Especially the employee with the freckles, Idk his name but hes so friendly and welcoming and answered my questions!! Venice location has free parking lot and smoothie bar. Unfortunately I am quite poor at the moment so I will get a membership later in the future. read more

I took my first class at Barry's using Class Pass. I've always heard great things about Barry's so I was excited but also nervous to try it out. I'm not a runner so I was slightly intimidated. Check in was super easy and the people at the front desk were super kind and helpful! They walked me through the whole process and explained the structure/layout of the class. They also showed me how the treadmills operate which was nice. Parking was super easy, with a huge lot in the back. I came for a 6:30pm class after work and while the lot seemed kind of crowded, I was able to snag a spot as someone was leaving. The womens locker room is very nice and clean. They have two Dyson hair dryers, lotion, lockers, towels, showers, tampons, etc. Really everything you could need! The class itself seemed to go by pretty fast. I started off on the treadmill just to get it out of the way lol. The instructor is giving directions throughout the run, but you can really go at your own pace, which is nice. I loosely followed directions, but followed along at lower speeds to accommodate my level of endurance. The first run was about 12 minutes, then we switched to the floor workout, then about a 10 minute run, and then another floor workout (with a short stretch/cool down to end things). The floor workouts were good, but very fast paced. It felt like we only focused on one exercise for maybe 30-45 seconds before moving onto the next. Because of this, I found myself not really focusing on my form (which is really my own fault, but with loud music and an instructor on the speakers directing 2 halves of the class at the same time, can you blame me?) Another problem that I had was that I couldn't really see or find the instructor at times, and so sometimes I felt a little lost on what to do (they use specific terms and don't describe the workouts/correct form before starting). Generally, you can see what the people around you are doing to follow along, but for a beginner that is not familiar with dumbbell workouts and/or doesn't know correct form this could be challenging (and potentially dangerous in terms of injury). Overall, I'm glad that I tried Barry's. The instructor was super friendly and nice. I liked the atmosphere and the amenities were great. I'm not sure that I would come again, but I would be interested to try just the lifting classes. Maybe when I'm in better shape I'll come back for more lol. read more

Huge studio space, locker rooms, and parking lot! Honestly one of the most underrated Barry's locations! People here are nice, welcoming, normal, and not intimidating like some other locations (aka Weho). As always, the instructor determines the vibe of the class. Definitely recommend if you live or work in the area. read more

Steven at the front desk was very helpful answering my questions about pricing. I paid $60 for the LA Metro First Timer 3 Pack (expires 14 days from the date of purchase). My first class was RUN X LIFT Abs & Ass led my Steffan. He was so awesome and I fully appreciate the Barry's Bootcamp experience because of him. The custodial staff was extremely friendly as well! I brought some work to do in their spacious common area. Tip: Barry's has a sale during the holiday season. read more

The workout itself is structured well, and I enjoy the sweat and strength I feel after. My issues are with the staff. The guy at the front desk was unfriendly and seemed to have an attitude for no reason. I'm not super surprised though, the front staff at this Barry's isn't particularly friendly and smiley in their greetings. I probably wouldn't have even written a review for this, but there's the instructor. She came up to me because I was doing a different exercise and show me what she instructed the class. I let her know I was just going to do lunges, and she sounded annoyed and did a little eye roll and stormed off. I was doing a different exercise because I have back issues and need to switch things up at times. Usually instructors are supportive and offer help and/or let you do what you need. Maybe think more about individuals than your ego. read more

1. This place is beautiful inside. 2. Steffan is one of the best instructors I've ever had. 3. Barry's reminds me of a more sophisticated cross fit. 4. Organization: The front desk is always welcoming, friendly, and helpful. 5. Workout: The workout is excellent and exactly what I need. The pace is fast and the routines are intense. As a Sports Medicine graduate I say the following: People who don't have a background in fitness or intense training should not feel obligated or pressured to go all out when starting this workout. I don't think it's designed for people who are new to working out. I would advise people to make sure that they do a thorough warm up and cool down to avoid injury. Be gentle with yourselves; grab weights and run speeds that work for you. The instructors are great, they don't pressure you to keep up but they are very encouraging. 6. Amenities: Smoothie Bar : Pretty cool selection. There is also an area for sports drinks. Merchandise: There are lots of cool branded sportswear options. 7. Storage: there are lockers in the front and in the locker room. Towels are available in the locker room and the showers are large. read more

Long story short: if I can do it, you can do it! I was intimidated coming here for the first time, but everyone from check in to the studio was so helpful and sweet. This class is challenging but doable-- I am by no means a runner, but the treadmills are so comfortable, running felt effortless, which is really really crazy since I haven't "ran" since 2020 lol. Also, there's ample parking in the back, so you don't have to worry about being late, or crying trying to find a spot on Lincoln. I love this for us read more

Love, love, love! I took my first class on Christmas 2024 and I have not looked back! I am 100% obsessed and addicted with the workout. I love the studio space, it's massive! The showers are great, the staff has always been so welcoming to me and they have theraguns and therarollers for you to use. I have a pretty strict schedule so the majority of my classes are with Celina and I love her. She has great energy and curates an awesome workout. Julia, Alex, Gayla, Taryn...literally every single instructor is amazing. I was treated extremely poorly by a manager named Briana this morning. I reserved my class and was there on time. However, the line was long and they gave away my spot while I was in line at the desk!!! Unbelievable! Then the manager Briana was extremely rude about the entire thing. I ask Barry's to please ask their managers to be more courteous in the future. People take time out of their day and spend a lot of money here, it's unbelievable that a manager will take you out of the class while you are in line at the studio. To make matters worse, this manager claimed I would not be charged. Not surprisingly, that was a lie. And I had to follow up to have my credits refunded. This is not acceptable. read more

After almost 50 classes taken with many instructors at various locations across LA, my original theory that "teaching quality is negatively correlated to the number of insta followers an instructor has" still stands. In Venice, Alex and Sean are absolutely everyone's fave. Marley is newer, so not as many ppl know about her, but she's also one of my fave instructors. I'm also pleasantly surprised that the Studio City location has the highest concentration of phenomenal instructors - I absolutely LOVE Erik, Scott and Martin. You know what these instructors have in common? They are all certified personal trainers that really care about teaching, and NONE of them are Instagram (or OnlyFans) influencers. read more

Ive been to Venice and WeHo. The WeHo is packed and really small. The Venice one is apparently one of the largest in the nation. I recommend that one. Here's my take: I'm try and true to reformer Pilates at my home studio in culver, but decided to incorporate some more cardio and went to Barry's to try. Context-my cardio is mostly soul cycle but I wanted to branch out. I don't know if I'm too much of a zen gal, but the format of this class is a sensory overload. The fitness space is very dark with red lights in the corner. Your basically going back and forth between power lifting, ab work, and sprints. I felt like the structure of the back and forth was a bit too erratic for me. There was moments where our instructor named James would be like "3,2,1 go" and I'm like where are we going what are we doing lol. There were several instances where folks would be looking around because the directions weren't clear yet the movement was complicated. Don't think this is for me, I can see how this might be more for people who like very typical gym workouts. But happy I gave it a try. read more

When I need a good full body workout that includes cardio and strength training in 50 min that leaves me feeling sore (in a good way), I come here. The Venice location is the closest to where I live so I prefer going here. I tried both the red room on the main floor and the upstairs lift studio (no treadmill) and enjoyed both types of classes. There's plenty of free parking in the back and the lobby / waiting area is large enough so it doesn't feel cluttered with people waiting for their class. I highly recommend this location. read more

Barry's Venice - Dressing room - Interval Training Gyms Near Me - Venice Beach, California

This Barry's is located on Lincoln and Palms and has a very large parking lot behind the studio. Parking is free. It's a pretty large space. Classes run about $30 per class, $145 for 5 classes, $280 for 10 classes. They also offer monthly memberships from $275-$375 per month. You can purchase everything online of if you have and iPhone on their app. They release classes a week in advance and you can reserve your spot online. You can choose to start on the treadmill or the floor first, but either way you will get the same workout. I like to start on the treadmill because I like to do that before getting on the mats for weights. You do either 2 or 3 rounds switching back and forth from the treadmill to the mats. At Venice, you can also pick the "DF" mats, which means you will skip the treadmill and do double floor. When you arrive at the studio, you will check in with the front desk. You can also pre-order a smoothie that will be waiting for you after class. My favorite is the Barry's and Brunch (390 calories). The studio is spacious, there are tables to sit at next to the smoothie bar with free wifi. There is also a stretching area upstairs with rollers you can use. They provide towels. Bring your own water or purchase at the studio. When you walk into the "red room," you'll go to your station. Tread and floor will be going at the same time, but the instructors are very good at making sure you know what you're doing. It's a 45 minute workout. It will zoom by, but you will feel amazing after. They will also provide fresh cold towels after class. Lockers are provided. Bathrooms and showers are nice. Tons of amenities - hair ties, gum, ear plugs, shampoo, conditioner, hair dryers, hair straighteners, towels, etc. read more

I then asked someone else about it after class... they said yeah it happens to everyone who's placed in the back .. like WTF read more

This is my first yelp review I've ever done... To set the stage, I'm no stranger to fitness classes - I've done Crossfit, F45, OrangeTheory, Peloton Tread, you name it - and I've lifted weights seriously for the past 10 years. But I purchased a 2-week unlimited pass to this studio, took a couple classes (regular Tread + Floor) and decided to never came back. 1. Heard great reviews of Barry's workouts but was very unimpressed by this studios programming and overly packed class size. The treadmill portion was fine, but the floor workout was very basic. You're crammed side-by-side for the floor portion (not even enough room to do a dumbbell chest fly without punching someone in the face next to you). Both classes, we barely even used the weights and did mostly body weight exercises (ex. one class, we did 15 pushups with 15 tricep dips and a set of ab crunches). It felt like an at-home workout put together from a quick Google search. Especially for the people doing the "Double Floor" portion of the class - paying $30/class for an instructor to tell you to do just pushups and tricep dips (plus without correcting form at all) felt like a scam. 2. Need more instructor Quality Control on programming for inclusivity and safety. I had an instructor end a class telling us "what we should be eating during the day to look fit and get skinny". I don't need a trainer closing class by giving out unwarranted nutrition advice to a group of 35+ people with all different fitness goals - it's toxic, outdated, and negligent. In another class, the instructor told everyone to complete a dumbbell shoulder circuit 15 times as quickly as possible and whoever finished first wins a free class... People were frantically flailing their weights around with uncorrected form. 3. Poor customer service. My first class, no one explained to me where anything was - even though I arrived 15min early. My second class, there was no one to check me in... so I was charged $30 for a no-show. I called the studio 8 (!!!) times over 2 days to resolve and no one answered. (After emailing, they ultimately refunded me, but still...) Another class, a classmate's Tread was broken and that classmate decided to take my friend's Tread while he was in the bathroom. Instead of the instructor or staff asking the classmate to give the Tread back to my friend, they told my friend to do Double Floor (AKA 15 pushups and 15 tricep dips over and over again) instead. Didn't even refund my friend his class due to the mixup. 4. No one cleans their equipment! The instructor did not even request for classmates to wipe down before they leave (even though there are wipes in the room!) People used benches, mats, and shared weights (covered in sweat) and just put them back for the next class to use. 4. Giving a star for the music - instructors played good music. Maybe my experience was a lemon. I'd say I'm not out on all Barry's in general, but I won't be returning to this studio until they can get some quality control for the programming and the customer experience. Hopefully this review helps. read more

Barry's Venice is literally a palace. Coming from San Francisco, I was SHOCKED when I saw the size of the place. There is an entire upper floor dedicated to stretching, complete with foam rollers. The locker rooms are gigantic, with tons of lockers available. Sounds stupid, but some other locations have legitimately ~15 lockers... What? Also, the Dyson hair dryers by themselves are enough to drag me to come work out here - my hair has never looked so sleek! The actual classes are solid. I like how they have 5:30 AM classes to cater to those who work early hours. The instructors are on par with classes I've taken in SF and NYC aka I feel like dying during class and then am on an endorphin high for the rest of the morning. Love the juice bar, too. There are sofas and tables for you to actually sit down and do some work while you sip on your smoothie (Barry's n Brunch is my favorite!) The wifi is really fast.
