Juvie is an amazing Coach. I'm a Coach and Gym owner from about an hour away in the South Bay, LA. (1440 Athletics & Fitness). This is a well run gym and I've gone out of my way to drop in to be Coaches By Juvie and enjoy their facility and great community. Logan the owner is a great guy and Od recommend this gym to absolutely anyone at any fitness level. read more

Fell in love with this gym after trying several on the West Side. It is so much better for my needs than everything I have tried. What is funny is that I live nearby and I have passed DEUCE so many times without considering giving it a try because I found it intimidating from the outside. I am in my 40s and an avid tennis player but strength training has never been my jam. I have decided recently that it was time for me to get serious about strength training, else I would continue to lose muscles, a recent trend since turning 45. I strongly recommend you give DEUCE a try. What I found is that they are the opposite of intimidating: all levels are welcome, the personalized coaching you get is incredible (and much needed in my case). Not only I love this Gym but now I even look forward to going to the Gym. Thanks to DEUCE I read more

Meredith is by far on of the best coaches I've ever met. I've been doing CrossFit since 2015. Over the years I dropped in many different boxes, outside of the state as well. I can honestly tell you that a coach like Meredith is hard to find. She demonstrated the correct form for each one of the movements, and made sure I perform them correctly. I told her I recently had a baby and trying to get back in shape. Even thought I'm not new to CrossFit and I'm familiar with most of the movements, she made sure to break down each movement, kept a close eye on me, suggested scaling versions when needed and kept me motivated during the entire session. The workout itself was challenging but doable. Super fun and motivating environment. COVID-19 precautions: Dropped in on 07/08/2020 at 12pm. I wore a face mask upon entering the gym and was allowed to take it off during the workout. They took my temperature and gave me hand sanitizer. We were only two athletes at that time so it was easy to keep social distancing. read more

DEUCE Venice is absolutely amazing. I've been playing sports and working out my entire life, so I'm no stranger to fitness - but DEUCE is a different ball game - the level of knowledge and professionalism amongst the staff is just ELITE. Although I've only been there for a couple months, I feel like I've already learned so much. No matter how many people are in the class, the coaching staff do a fantastic job of checking in with you The attention to detail with injury prevention exercises has been amazing for me and honestly something I've never worked on - but it's been a gamechanger in staying healthy. Highly recommend. read more

Venice vibes in a dope gym. Take Strongman 101. You won't regret it. One of the most welcoming, badass, fun workout environments I've ever been in. You'll find so many kinds of people here - fitness freaks to total newbies looking to change their lives for the better. It's an amazing feeling to walk into the garage and get shit done. read more

Very friendly staff, convenient location, well equipped gym with indoor and outdoor workout area. If you're a drop-in, you can either pay the 25$ drop in fee or pay $25 and get a t shirt. Their classes weren't exactly what I was used to. My box usually has gymnastics, Olympic lifting and WOD in every class. The class I went to at noon here only had stretching and 16mins of WOD. I didn't feel the pain the next day like I usually do. So I wouldn't have minded if the class was a little more challenging. Also tried Paradiso in Venice. I preferred Paradiso (sorry)! read more

As a spectator, I was able to witness the fluidity of the coaching by Emily, the communal engagement going on outside of the scheduled class, and the coolest garage gym that I've ever visited. If you're looking for a fun place to train, DEUCE is it. If you're looking for somewhere to tan, DEUCE is it. If you're looking for community, DEUCE is it. read more

They don't need this review but doing it anyway... Kinda crazy, I did a review of a dry cleaner and auto body shop before reviewing DEUCE Gym - a place that is reshaping members fitness goals, priorities and overall well-being on the daily. Here's the deal, you will get the best programming/coaching available in LA at DEUCE. The coaches are amazing - engaging - and can help you hit new goals, avoid injury and prescribe workouts for all skill levels whether you're just looking to get into shape or make it to regionals - all in a chill environment. Logan has created a super positive vibe at the garage that seems to attract some of the best folks you'll come across in this city of Angels. After training here for 2+ years I'm always challenged and always looking forward to my next workout of the day. Check it out - free community workouts once a month - it's how they got me!! My wife and I dropped in to train at the box while in holiday. The staff and rest of the class were brilliant. From the moment they arrived everyone made it seem like we were regulars. We learned some new skills and were invited to an evening event too that unfortunately couldn't attend. Would be back in a heartbeat. read more

Deuce Gym - Post WOD - Interval Training Gyms Near Me - Venice, California

Hands down one of the best Crossfit gyms I've been to. What makes you feel the most welcomed? The staff greeted me and made sure I knew where to check in and that we'd be starting shortly. The members talked with me and asked about my visit and reason for being in Venice. From a professional standpoint, the coaching (Emily) was phenomenal. Her management of athletes, equipment, warm-ups and time was nothing short of impressive. The location is super convenient and the weather was gorgeous, thanks LA lol. I was there a few minutes early for the 0900 Saturday class. The coaches were doing group training and feedback and that is so necessary to keeping coaches sharp and fresh and offering a quality product. Don't miss this box if you're in the area! read more

Being a crossfit box owner I am always skeptical when trying to find a quality place to train. As much as I love training at my box I feel it's necessary to train in different environments, learn from different people, see how they teach things, and see what they do that makes them special. Deuce Gym is by far one of the best training environments I've ever found. I've been doing strength and conditioning for 17 years, and sports from pre-school to college...over half the time of my existence on this planet has involved training. This box is filled with positive people and positive attitudes! In training this is extremely important, we all have a bad day and occasionally our buddy needs to put us back on track! The coaching! It is legitimate to say the least, as the crossfit brand gets more diluted the few great coaches find boxes to teach and train at that harness the necessities to performing and coaching functional movements to the highest degree of excellence. Yeah that's what Deuce Gym is all about. Logan, Lindsey, and Danny (the only coaches I've met) are top notch motivators, they'll bring the best out of you and put you right where you need to be in order to succeed in your fitness goals! read more

I've been to a dozen Crossfit box gyms in California and other cities. Initially I was a little put off by Deuce 2's location right on Lincoln Blvd. It felt kind of like it was right out on a busy street. But I've run in Central Park and London and San Francisco -- so what was I worrying about? Maybe it just felt different... But kinda GOOD. Most box gyms are pretty much the same with familiar weights, ropes, bars etc. You can't get any extra credit in this area. Crossfit is not about having exotic equipment, it's about basic fitness. Core stuff. Deuce 2 gets it's 5-Star rating because of a friendly, knowledgeable, committed staff of coaches that really raise the bar. I've seen plenty of trainers since the first time I walked into a gym (1978) and I've been an Arthur Jones-certified Nautilus trainer myself (1984). I've seen fads come and go. And I've seen the prima donna trainers operating at the fanciest most expensive gyms in New York and LA. The Deuce 2 crew is great. I don't know how these coaches found each other and decided to create Deuce 2, but the attitude, ethos, and authenticity is spot on. I've seen Danny, Logan, and Lindsey coach classes and they are all good. I am not surprised they are getting great results with the people training there. Highly recommended to Crossfit fans. read more

This place is pretty amazing. Granted, it's small, but everything is put together very well. The coaches in charge (Logan and Danny) are both great, and the programming is superb. You won't find yourself in any danger of injuring yourself knowingly or unknowingly under their expert guidance. Parking can be a bit of an issue but that's LA. And, there's a Whole Foods right across the street to refuel after a hard workout. read more

Deuce Gym - BirthFIT! - Interval Training Gyms Near Me - Venice, California

This place is amazing!!! They provide the best workouts to hit your goals for every body type and level of fitness. I just had a baby and they tailored every workout to fit what I needed for maximum performance and results! Each workout is different. I can't imagine just running on a treadmill now...yuck!! No more boring monotonous workouts. The owners and the community that comes with this gym are some of the best people I have met in LA. There is no place like this on earth. The vibe is so fun and chill that they accomplish more in this small space than any gym I have ever been to. One of the finest experiences you can find for both your body and soul. I am a lifelong gym goer and focused mainly on the basic weight training movements, so I was looking for something similar to high intensity training in the crossfit realm. Needless to say you find that and more at this facility. The Deuce is so much more than any one definition can provide: it has a brilliant sense of community, dare I say family vibe, with no pretension and simply fun people that want more from a workout. The true value of this place are the trainers from Logan on down. Each one offers an amazing level of lesson plans and workouts to test yourself physically and mentally. Logan is as knowledgeable about fitness as you can find in LA and will take the time to cater the workouts to you and your limits. He understands the value of coaching to inspire, not for the paycheck. I personally also recommend Chris, Emily and Lindsey as well as they've all went out of their way to teach and inspire us in great ways. The equipment and atmosphere are also top notch and there's no shortage of high intensity tools to challenge yourself. Plus, being outdoors in Venice makes for a unique and awesome vibe. This place gets the highest possible recommendation! read more

If the thought of joining LA Fitness and plodding away on a treadmill while you do some Smith machine squats on your way out seems like a mild version of fitness hell, then DEUCE really is the place for you. When I went for my intro, they explained that this is a school of fitness, tailored to your goals, and I haven't found that to be anything but true. Yea, you go to workout, but more than anything you are going to class. With a strong emphasis on community and fun, just do yourself a favor and a least go to a free private intro. You won't regret! read more

I know being "in shape" isn't an all-or-none thing, but for simplicity: If you're already in shape: If you're healthy and strong but bored with what you're doing or have bigger goals than your current regimen allows, general physical preparedness (GPP) at Deuce is probably a great fit. There's variety in the workouts, and the people there--coaches and other members--will help you improve and stay motivated. There are specialized courses too, but I've only done GPP. If you're out of shape: I was in the worst shape of my life when I started at Deuce. If you've also unwittingly become a schlub but don't want to be, there's structure in the workouts to give you direction, and there's a really positive community of people who are encouraging and foster accountability. You should also know that the workouts are hard. They "scale" so you'll be able to do them, but there's no denying they're going to be challenging. The things I think I appreciate the most are that the coaches know their stuff cold, they help you understand why you're doing the exercises you're doing, and they make sure you're doing them right. I think it's completely possible to just show up, listen to directions, bury yourself doing the exercises listed on the board, and become incredibly fit. But, personally, understanding what I'm working toward in a technical way has helped me a lot. That's the first thing you go through when you show up for the assessment/intro session, and it keeps building. You can choose not to worry about most of the technical kinesiology stuff or geek out on it. The coaches can accommodate you either way, and everybody else there will still be super cool. read more

Oh come on, you've driven by like fifty times already wondering what it is, just walk on in!

I am not the youngest person in the world and I am not in the best shape, and I have a few medical challenges. I considered joining a "machine mill" type gym where I could just go in and keep my workout to myself... but I don't know anything about working out and instructions on how to use a machine I didn't think would give me what I needed. The folks at Deuce are amazing. They talked to me, found out what I could do and what I couldn't do and have made sure I push myself in all the right directions. Plus the other folks I have met at the sessions are awesome people! Great people. Great workout. Great spirit. Great vibe. I love it. read more

Great gym. Owners are awesome. Trainers are awesome. I've been there for almost 7 months now, and this place is a game changer. Exercises can be challenging but they scale the workouts for beginners to seasoned pros. The membership is what keeps people coming back. They tend to be motivated, nice, chill people looking to break a sweat and have a good time. I would recommend this place to any person I know willing to step up their fitness regiment. read more

With great experience and attention to detail, the coaches at Deuce Gym have created a community based on safe, effective, and varied fitness with the ultimate goal of making you better than yesterday. Coming into an environment where I know I am not being overlooked and where the coaches are committed to each and every student is why I love this gym. The best part of this place is of course the people! I will probably never step foot into a regular treadmill gym again because I can't imagine working out by myself! If you're looking for a legit Crossfit gym this is the place for you. read more

I literally "dropped in" here this past week as I am temporarily living in LA for a few weeks and Emily and Logan gave me a super warm welcome. These guys totally get and understand how to run a small business! Not only are they knowledgeable about their subject matter (which definitely shows:)!, they have also built a community around their business. I love that this place looks rough and tough right off the road and close to the beach. Totally SoCal feel! I had a great workout and will be making CrossFit a part of my lifestyle. Thank you Logan, Danny and Emily! read more

If a Crossfit gym is nothing but a box, what makes the difference are the coaches inside. The amazing coaches at Deuce Gym bring out the inner athlete in everyone and anyone and are among the finest and funnest people I've met in LA. Who knew that getting your ass kicked could come with such joy and sense of purpose?! I love these guys..you won't regret giving Deuce an introductory try. read more

I live near Deuce and joining was one of my best decisions of the year so far. I've worked out in gyms for nearly 20 years, and what I love about Deuce is working out in community, under the tutelage and supervision of their amazing trainers. The workouts are definitely intense, but in a healthy way, and not impossible. You're encouraged to go at your own pace and be safe. Everyone is super friendly and encouraging, and you can't beat training outside. I can't recommend Deuce highly enough. It definitely beats going into a gym with headphones, staring at yourself in the mirror lifting weights for an hour. See you there! read more

I dropped in to the box to hit a WOD this weekend. Hands down one of the best boxes in LA. Danny and Logan are SUPER knowledgable about movement standards, range of motion and how to properly instruct/train athletes, people are really friendly and they have a rig set up outside! You can tan and train at the same time! THE definition of a SoCal Box! read more

I can't say enough good things about the training or the people at this gym/box. Good people who who at the top of their game a trainers --crossfit, strength, gymnastics and especially strongman. I just love these guys! I've been training with them for more than a year now and they are by far my favorite exercise gym. All of the coaches are highly qualified and personable and I particularly enjoy the specialty courses. I've taken their Strongman Course with Logan which was THE BEST, a must for really anyone who is interested in becoming stronger and more efficient in their way of training and moving in general. I'm now 33 weeks pregnant and I am currently taking a pre-natal course with Dr. Lindsey Mathews there as a part of her BIRTHFIT program. I mean, come on: a Crossfit gym that caters to pregnant and postpartum women?! It really doesn't get any better than this!!! These guys are awesome and they truly provide a community of not only knowledge but support on all levels of life. I don't feel like I'm a client here, I feel as a part of a family. read more

Amazing experience! Me and 3 other girlfriends dropped in from out of town! This gym was half indoor and half outdoor! It had a great atmosphere, quality coaching & very friendly members! Great workout!!! Would 100% recommend!!! read more

To put it straight, I have not had as much faith in a gym and its coaches as I do now for Deuce. These people literally eat, sleep and breathe their values, training techniques and integrity. I have been training with deuce as a part of their specialty class, strongman 101, which relies on functional human movements utilizing odd tools such as tires, cement atlas stones and kegs. It is the most weird, challenging fun workout I've ever endured, and I'm already feeling stronger, leaner and more energized because of it. An important thing the coaches do exceptionally well at is teaching; teaching by example. They take the time to explain and show you correct, safe form of a movement and then watch you try, always critiquing and/or correcting. Though offering a solid amount of reinforcement and motivation, the coaches provide you with the opportunity to dig deep within yourself, break barriers and reach new heights. It's an empowering feeling, and along with great community support, you never feel alone. I believe what they do and the knowledge they provide is the best, no B.S., just straight up awesome workouts that will turn your life around. read more

Growing up doing competitive team sports and then trying to isolate yourself into a typical gym setting is nearly impossible. I was starting to lose hope in my fitness goals and then I was introduced to Deuce. Not only are the coaches extremely knowledgeable, they actually make working out there a lot of fun. Whether 630 in the morning is your style or even 630 at night, they bring the heat with every single class in between. With workouts that change daily, you never get bored with their regimes. Although some people hear the word crossfit and panic, as I initially did, they do a great job not only explaining the workouts but also going into detail as to why we are doing them and what we will be gaining in doing so which is extremely comforting to a newcomer. So if you are looking to just try out crossfit or really challenge yourself to lock in and pursue your fitness goals, I highly suggest you stop by and give this place a shot.
