There's been a lot of talk about Trosa Thrift store around town lately. I've seen it all over…read moresocial media so a friend and I decided to check it out on a Friday afternoon. Trosa is located on Peters Creek Hwy in the Food Lion strip center at the Clemmonsville exit. It's easy to get to and there's plenty of parking which I love. Right inside the door is their whole furniture section, they have tons of tables, chairs, dressers , etc. they even have a whole section of office specific furniture. The prices are very reasonable. This would be a furniture flippers paradise. Towards the back they have shelves of everything from pillows to whole sets of dishes, sports equipment and the most medical mobility equipment I've ever seen anywhere. I'd say, if you are in need of a walker, a bath seat or portable toilet for someone look here because they probably have it at a fraction of the cost it would be to purchase new or rent. The clothing is grouped all together but they aren't keeping it organized as well as it needs to be. All different sizes were mixed in together and I quickly got frustrated and gave up. Both of us had found an item in the kitchen area we wanted so we headed to check out. The workers were very friendly as well. I'll definitely be checking out Trosa regularly in the future. Trosa supports substance abuse treatment. If you want to donate to them, they offer pick up for larger items or you can bring your items to their donation drop off around the back of the store. Just follow the signs.

I came here as a chaperone to attend a Grace cooking class. The class was wonderful and gave all…read morethe participants a chance to learn great cooking skills. The instructors were all very patient and knowledgeable while guiding each participant proper ways to cut vegetables, and checking for doneness on protein items while making a balanced meal. The theme for today was 4th of July grilling. The participants were taught how to assemble a vegetable skewer, season it and put it on the grill. They also made hamburgers and hotdogs, how to slice tomatoes and onions for the burgers and assemble their meal with condiments and toppings. Everyone got to choose what they wanted to make and which vegetables they wanted on their skewer. They cut the vegetables into smaller pieces and threaded them on the bamboo skewers. They learned how to flip burgers safely on the hot grill and to keep a proper distance from the heat. In the end everyone had a complete meal of a hamburger or hotdog, grilled vegetables and French fries. Second Harvest has many other culinary classes available and I'll be looking into others for sure. The facilities are all very clean and they use all the best food handling and safety practices. I love that programs like this exist to help people of all abilities learn life skills. There is much more to the food bank than just food.

RMH provides this stress free environment not just at the house but also in the hospitality rooms at the hospitals. You receive the same top notch service, with offerings of water, sodas, juice, coffee, sandwiches and snacks. The value is immeasurable because of the peace and comfort you get during a stressful time of your life. Not having to worry about cost is a huge relief for anyone. They also have rolling carts and you can request snacks and drinks from there as well. All their volunteers and employees are caring and polite. You hope you never have to worry e to use their services but it's nice to know they are there.

If you're unfamiliar with Habitat Restores, they often have a combination of gently used donated items as well as new items from retailers like Safavieh. It seems like this location received new shipments of new items about once a week, so I'd recommend stopping in every couple of days if you are looking for a specific item. Prices are very reasonable and the staff here is so great! Be sure to check them out if you have any furniture needs, or again, if you just like to pretend you have furniture needs.
