The very large playground includes a shaded bench for the grownups while the little ones are on one of the two climbing frames or the large swing set. Picnic tables and the pavilion can be reserved. There is a good dog park in the shade that is completely fenced in with regulations posted. It's interesting how much sponsorship they have going here. I think that's great. Two friends and I each rented a one-person, sit-on-top kayak for the day. We spent a few hours just shootin' the breeze, wandering around narrow water ways and attempting to make our way to the waterfall of legend. Unfortunately, the water level was quite low when we went and we couldn't get quite that far up the stream to see it. It was a beautiful and breezy day with hardly anyone visiting at the time due to coronavirus starting to pick up but quarantine not yet required. Worked out in our favor and was a calm day out. The guy running the shop was very funny and easy going. The kayaks and paddles are a bit beat up from lots of use - it's a good idea to inspect what you get before heading out so that you don't have any issues. As mentioned, prices seem a bit high. However, the prices are for a full day rental. The owner recommended bringing a cooler and getting there early to spend the entire day out on the water drinking beers. Sounds like a good plan for the next time we come out.

The best part about this is that I can honestly say/write that this is a trip worth making from Charlotte or other cities. The little place is run by a man and his brother who helps out. They don't look like the most friendly guys on the planet but you'll find out that they're good people once you start talking to them. The best part about LIPS is that the route they suggest leads you to a small but beautiful waterfall. It's a serene, cool experience. I didn't post pics of the waterfall because I want you to find it yourselves. Can't promise that everyone will like it but it's more interesting to search for something rather than to just paddle from point A to wherever. Lastly, I do want to mention that though they have single, two, three person kayaks, there's only full-day rentals unlike some places with half-day options. Hope you have fun!

Playground is suitable more for older children, but our toddler still enjoyed herself as well. Bay View stables is not just a place to take your child or yourself to sit on a horse to sit on a…read morehorse and look pretty like a statue. Bay View Stables is an amazing place that is a family that doesn't turn horses or people away. My kids have autoimmune conditions that other places wouldn't allow them near the horses. When I called Bay View over a year ago, the owner, Christy did not hesitate and told me to bring my kids in. Not only that she actually researched my daughter's conditions and worked on a plan to help them grow and keep them safe in their riding journey. My youngest daughter is more of a casual rider but my middle daughter started competing only two months after she started her lessons and won in her class. But the best part about Bay View is that the instructors actually teach the kids and adults how to ride horses. Sometimes that I have noticed going to competitions is that the horse are like robots and I have seen the lengths that some stables will go to and I have heard about medicating horses. At Bay View a high Majority of the horses are rescues. So these horses are not perfect but they are as sweet as they can be. They love the kids and the kids love them. Some do get scared some freeze up and need their rider to give them confidence, and some need their rider to let them borrow their energy. At Bay View Stables you are truly learning to connect with the horse and ride them. My middle daughter is becoming an absolute amazing rider. That is all thanks to Mrs Christy, (the owner, head instructor and head trainer) and Ms Kayla (Instructor and assistant Trainer). Mrs Christy truly has a super power to read both her horses and her riders. She knows when to push and how to help both horse and rider grow and work as a team. Ms Kayla has one of the biggest hearts I have ever seen. The kids connect with her extremely quickly. She has a way of understanding them that most adults don't. She is very special. Mrs Christy and Ms Kayla are an amazing team together and they complement each other beautifully. If you are looking for a stable that your child is going to learn to truly ride a horse Bay View is the place to go!! There is nowhere better. Plus you get to get a true part of American heritage, the American Saddlebred is an important part of our history.

It's fun seeing familiar faces - both human and pup. I like how it's separated into two spaces for both large and small dogs. We've only have wonderful experiences at this dog park :)
