Arabesque gray backsplash with gray quartz counter
    Karen L.

We had our kitchen and bathroom remodeled, including copper repiping. Jorge was the 5th contractor we interviewed. The other ones were either overpriced, had a long projected timeframe (3 months!) or unlicensed. Jorge quoted a reasonable price and projected a 6-week completion date which he fulfilled. He and his team were on site everyday. Their showroom in Glendora had very good samples, and we got all our floor, wall tiles and backsplash there. To save money we went with pre-fab kitchen cabinets, but Jorge added some nice moldings and panels (some he built himself) and made them look more customized and finished. When we ran into some unexpected issues (e.g., kitchen counter looked different than expected), Jorge provided solutions and took us to some stone vendors to choose other options. We chose a nice gray quartz countertop (from Genuine Quartz) that complemented the rest of our kitchen design. We wanted a herringbone design on our kitchen floor and Jorge did that beautifully. We got so many compliments on it! We had a hard time choosing our wall paint (went through 6 samples!) and Jorge was so patient. He values safety (made sure glass shower door was done right). He scheduled all the city inspections and everything passed with no issues. A nice touch was he offered to recycle one of our old kitchen cabinets and installed it in our garage for free as additional shelving! We highly recommend Jorge if you're looking for a team that is professional, reliable, respectful and trustworthy.

We contacted Jorge on a recommendation from friends and we are so glad we did. He gave us an excellent quote for our Kitchen/bath/laundry room remodel and then helped us stay within our budget. He also finished the project very close to the time frame he expected (we had a few complications due to the age of our house that were unexpected). Jorge's crew was very friendly and professional and did excellent work. We really appreciated how they interacted with our 4 kids, conversing with them daily and also keeping them safe during construction (since we were all at home because of COVID, which was not our original plan!). We LOVE our finished remodel; it turned out just like we wanted! We would definitely contact Jorge for any future work we need done for our house!

Jorge and his team did an amazing job remodeling our kitchen. They were a first class company with a high level of attention to detail. They showed up every day on-time and made sure our project was their top priority. Would I choose them again? Absolutely! Would I recommend them? Yes

After 30 years, our family decided to remodel our kitchen and one of our bathrooms. My dad searched around and hired Jorge Serpas for the job. Our plan was to gut out and rebuild the entire kitchen and one of the bathrooms including floor tiles, cabinets, and new appliances. We wanted to finish by Thanksgiving, which was only 3 weeks away, which Jorge promised he could complete. Jorge and his workers were here everyday and worked diligently and completed the job exactly in 3 weeks. Throughout the process, Jorge and his workers were on time, courteous, and most importantly professional. Our new kitchen looks much bigger and brighter than before. The new bathroom looks updated and more modern. We have had two parties at home since the remodel and all of our guests commented that the kitchen and bathroom look beautiful. We will definitely recommend Jorge to our friends and relatives.

We have been at our home now for a little over a year. Serpas Building and Remodel, remodeled our home from a 2 bedroom, 1 bath home to a beautiful 5 bedroom 3 1/2 bath. The process took them approximately 6 months. Mind you, they had to tear down the old garage and back property and most of the property was concrete, so they had to break down concrete for the whole back exterior in order to begin their work. If you saw our old property and looked at the new pictures, you would not believe your eyes!! It is a complete transformation. We are so pleased and grateful for Jorge and his workers. They did a gorgeous job! Worth every penny!! And we absolutely recommend them to everyone!!

a bathroom with a toilet and bathtub

I had my one, and only one bathroom remodeled in May. Jorge was recommended by my neighbor, and I am so glad he was the guy I picked! As soon as I got the ok from the HOA, Jorge was ready to start. He answered all of my questions, and offered some really great advice on tile and tub. Jorge took mercy on me and left the toilet in as long as possible during the demo. Jorge has the best crew in town....Anthony and Laurant are amazing - the tile work they did is so impressive. They even installed the hardest toilet ever to be hookede up.... and I LOVE IT. My bathroom is the centerpiece of my condo right now! They worked fast, and I never felt like they were doing 5 jobs at once. Jorge and Anthony took great care of me and did an amazing job at a very fair price. They even came back after the job was complete, to hang my mirror for me. They never left the house a mess, they even had a person come in and do a thorough cleaning at the end which was a really classy thing to do. Their work speaks for themselves. I have the best looking bathroom in Pasadena, and I am more than thrilled with it! Will use this team anytime, any day! You won't find anyone that works harder than this crew.

We recently had our kitchen completely remodeled by SBR. They did a great job! Jorge, the owner, and his team managed to completely gut our original crumbling 50s kitchen and bring it into the modern age. Budget wise they kept it right on target with the only exceptions being extra things we threw at them during construction. Every detail was addressed, they did plumbing, tile flooring, widened our doorways, rebuilt walls that had pocket doors, ran electricity, to stay on budget they used high quality manufactured cabinetry and customized when necessary, lighting, painting, glass tile backsplash, installed a new front door, fabricated a new bottom foot board/step for the front door. They really did a lot of work and it all came out beautifully, all the while in 100°+ heat. Anna, co-owner and Jorge's wife, helped us in their showroom to pick finishes after Jorge had designed the layout with our requests, couldn't be happier. All-in-all a great company to work with, on budget, on time, took a lot of the stress out of a big remodel project. They really went above and beyond our wildest expectations, it truly is our dream kitchen now.

Communication was always clear, and he kept us updated on progress, timelines, and next steps. The kitchen came out beautiful, the layout feels much more open and modern, and the quality of the work really shows in the details. He identified the issue quickly and highlighted the lazy workmanship from our kitchen installers (Taranto Construction, Inc in Claremont, CA) who were subcontracted through Lowe's (who we purchased our kitchen from). The shelves collapsed because of loose screws from lazy installers at Taranto Construction, Inc. It's infuriating to have to pay someone to come solve an issue that goes back to completely loose screws in the hardware that would've taken an extra 5 seconds to properly tighten at the initial install. But they know people won't see it, so they cut corners. DO NOT EVER USE TARANTO CONSTRUCTION INC in Claremont CA for a kitchen install, or any Lowe's in the surrounding area, as this is who they refer the work to. After spending a short amount of time with Walter, it's clear he knows what he is doing and is a professional. He even tightened and adjusted other cabinet doors in our kitchen he noticed issues with that had nothing to do with the cabinet shelves he came to fix. He was a very nice guy and I was glad I called him. Thank you very much.

Walter worked with us to pick the right product and colors. We went with Shinnoki real wood veneer panels. They are beautiful and durable. Once they got the veneer up, they routed then hand-filed all of the openings. Then that meticulously painted the face frames to match the veneer. They even painted around the drawers where you can see very little of the painting they did. That shows a lot of pride! Walter also gave us the look of frameless cabinets even though we would have had to replace the cabinet boxes in order to make them frameless. That's a lot of extra work. We got a custom job for less than the price of a non-custom job. In the photos you can see the detail I'm talking about. I've included before and after pictures. The before pictures are all dark, ugly drawers and doors. The after pictures are the modern, two-tone look. In one photo in which I have a drawer pulled out with hot pads in it, Walter designed that and made it fit. There was not a drawer in there before because it's under the stove and the gas line was in the way. But Walter moved it. Walter's very conscientious and not afraid to tell you if he thinks something is not going to look good. He'll do whatever you want, but we learned that he knows what he's talking about. While there were aspects of the design and finished appearance that we liked, the overall experience left us disappointed. One concern throughout the process was the pressure to finalize the closet layouts. Although I had largely designed the closets myself, when I requested a revised drawing after changes were made, I was told not to "take this so seriously." As a homeowner making a significant investment in a permanent installation, I felt it was reasonable to want to review and confirm the final design before construction. Additionally, I made a minor rod color change to one closet the day before installation. This change was brought up repeatedly and was later cited as the reason the installers did not bring enough hardware for several hanging rods. As a result, portions of the installation could not be completed properly. The missing hardware was sent approximately a week later, and we ultimately had to install and replace components ourselves. The most frustrating aspect of the experience has been the post-installation service. Communication with Rolando, who oversees installations, has been extremely difficult. Responses regarding installation issues, corrections, and warranty items have been inconsistent and often unavailable. Our contract provides for a one-year warranty. However, when we contacted the company regarding items that required correction, we were told they were ending the working relationship rather than scheduling the repairs. At that point, several punch-list and quality issues remained unresolved. I understand that no project is perfect, and I would have been willing to work through the issues had there been consistent communication and follow-through. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. We are now exploring other avenues to have the remaining warranty items addressed. My recommendation to future customers is to carefully inspect every aspect of the installation before making final payment, document any outstanding items in writing, and ensure all punch-list work is completed before closing out the project. If the company ultimately honors its warranty obligations and resolves the remaining issues, I would be happy to update this review.
