Partner brought me home a burrito. There "carne asada" looked more like boiled meat. There was no maillard coloring to suggest it was grilled(maillard is the reaction proteins have with intense heat that makes it appear with color and signs of being grilled/seared. Or flavor for short ). It just tasted chewy and sour(probably a citrus marinade that's heavy with lime). I had to remove it from the burrito to at least enjoy something to eat. There red salsa is also very heavy with garlic. Like way more than any Asian foods and just over powers the entire bite. In this case, it was okay since it helped hide the sour taste the meat left behind with the beans and rice within the preprocessed flour tortilla. Might want to keep driving down the street closer to E LA to get tacos with the quality points this place read more

I have been coming to Sergios for years and I can easily tell you after trying tacos from hundreds of other places this is my favorite place on the planet to eat these 3 types of tacos. 1. Cabeza = meat from the cow's head (no brains just the great meaty parts) very flavorful, green sauce. 2. Tripa = type of cow intestine, usually tripa de leche which comes from the cows udder and tastes simply amazing, red sauce. 3. Lengua= beef tongue very tender, green sauce. I understand some of these are not your average taco (of choice) but seriously if you have never tried them or are to scared or grossed out, this is the place to try your 1st because you will not be disappointed, I have turned everyone who has tried it for the 1st time into tripa taco lovers. If you can get it out of your head that you are eating something strange this will be totally worth it and rewarding. Seriously there is crazier stuff in the medications you take and dressings you use on your salad. read more

If you are not gonna serve people after 10p with the claim that you are cleaning then just change your hours to 10p. Dine in restaurant with no restroom???? I like to wash my hands before my meals, just the fact that a restaurant has no restroom but serves customers in their dine-in area is a disappointment. I don't understand how the Health department here in California allows businesses like this to get away with not having any available restrooms for customers, I would understand if they said it was out of service but they have a big sign posted above the counter that reads "NO PUBLIC RESTROOMS" The burrito was great but the fact that I left to wash my hands made this a horrible experience. read more

Once inside the cooks don't greet you and speak to you as if your just some perros that are hungry. Waste of money. I dont know why everyone keeps telling me to try this place. I asked for 3 burritos with no onions! They ignored my request and pack all 3 with so much onions . One of the burritos was literally ripping down the side spilling everything out. THE WORST PART IS, i didnt know until i got home and my kids said theres something wrong with their food. If i didn't live an hour away i would drive back and have them remake it but i guess i got robbed for this meal. Now i have to find something els for my kids to eat and spend more money i dont have. My recent visit to this restaurant left me extremely disappointed. I had not eaten here in over two years, but I remember it being amazing. However, when I walked in yesterday, I was greeted with a blacked-out menu and a filthy counter. The ceiling light fixtures were covered in dust and dirt, giving the impression that the restaurant was not in business. There was a tall man behind the counter who was not polite from the beginning. I asked him if they offered any vegetarian options like a bean and rice taco bowl or burrito. Instead of answering my question, he guided us to use the dirty touch screen to place our order. We placed our order and paid for it using the touch screen. The man then came toward us, clearly angered, and told me he had already made the bean and rice taco bowl that I had asked about. Although I had only asked him a question, his anger made me decide to cut my losses and take it. He then made me pay $2.25 which was the balance was the difference from what I actually ordered on the computer versus what he was serving me. I paid the difference on another card. When we got to the park to eat our lunch, my friend's lunch was not even in the bag. The man had not asked which one of us ordered the fish tacos and which one ordered the quesadilla, so we received the wrong orders. The stale taco shell, overcooked rice, and slightly hard beans did not meet our expectations. The guacamole was black and had clearly been sitting out for a while, while the fish tacos were in a corn shell that fell apart immediately. We were happy to leave that dirty place with the extremely unhelpful and somewhat rude man. We like to support small local businesses, but this entire experience was completely unacceptable. It's a shame because we have had several good experiences with this same restaurant years ago. I love Sergios. Been coming here for years. But I moved to studio city which is a 35/40min drive from me. I had a rough weekend, really wanted comfort food, I leave my house on Sunday (today) at 9:30pm and since they close at 11pm I'm not worried about time. I pull up around 10pm but there's a line and a sign that says "cash only" so I drive up to the most dangerous part of town just to get to an ATM and pull out cash. I drive back and as I'm walking up, the manager is walking the last couple out and locks the doors. It's 10:25pm and I say "what time do you close, I just drove very far and pulled out cash for this" he tells me "10:30pm sorry WE'RE CLOSED" and he's waiving his hands and shooing me away in frustration. WORST SERVICE I've ever had with them and also made no sense. Had to drive 35min back to LA angry with no food now late at night on a Sunday when I had work the next way. I can say that I only eat it here and settle for king taco if I can't make it out here. You can add yellow cheese to your burritos if u like that. They're always stacked with meat. The red sauce is super spicy and flavorful and one of the best ones out there. The horchata is milky and sweet, it's perfect! This is the best taco shop for carne asada period. You don't come here for customer service people, ur in the hood. Order your food and how about you be pleasant? You want a smile and how was ur day, get a therapist. These people are busy. It looks just like KT until you grab the salsa. My boss brought it for lunch and I got excited because I thought it was KT. I grabbed the crane asada tacos and took a bite since the sauce was already on it. I immediately thought, 'wow, it's not as salty anymore', but when I grabbed the salsa in the container to pour more onto the taco, it wasn't KT salsa Roja. Tacos are way better and they aren't skimpy. Salsa... Well no one beats KT. I suggest you get KT sauce and eat it with their tacos. Apparently they do catering, cart included. I knew I was headed in this direction. I was driving on auto-pilot and was supposed to be on the 60. Apparently it was something drawing me onto the 5 freeway instead. Before you know it, I was on the wrong freeway. Instead of turning around or whatever, I got off on Atlantic Blvd. I knew exactly how to get here. Almost side swiped by some asshole in a Dodge dually, fucker, I ended up following him down a side street. No, I wasn't going to kick his ass in my tiny Honda vintage vehicle. I made a right and then I was there. I forgot I had already tried the lengua, didn't care for it much. My blood sugar was low, my thoughts were clouded, so I ordered a lengua burrito with no beans and a small horchata. The rice was ok but the red sauce was spicy. The horchata was sweet but a satisfying drink. For those of you who are a bit squimish, then don't order the lengua. They take a big chunk and actually chop it up on the block for your order. So it's good that it's sort of made to order but I wanted the carne asada. Damn my memory. Also, if you can't take spicy, the green sauce is like a tomatillo green salsa. It's starting to remind me how King Taco taste like in the earlier years before they became industrialized and franchised. read more

I went again today at about 10:45 am because I swear there couldn't be a better carne asada taco then King Taco. With more confidence I can say It's definitely better than King Taco's carne asada tacos. The guy pulled out a chunk of carne asada, chopped up the meat, then used the tortillas to grab the meat. Plopped them in a foil, and dropped the onions and cilantro in bam bam bam. This was better than the show at Benehanas. The red hot sauce isn't as spicy as King Taco but it's also more controllable. The meat is truly a thing of perfection. You do have to remember that King Taco makes theirs in a commissary so it's stored in vacum packed bags and reheated on the griddle. That may be a key difference in the juiciness and tenderness of the carne asada here. What ever it is I have now have a new number one carne asada place to enjoy. By the way I did notice they have a location in Montebello as well so I'll have to make my way down there to check it out. Heard about this place on The Great Taco Hunt and thought id give it a try..I was not disappointed in the least bit....The Carne Asada is some of the best i have had and was similar in flavor to the Carne Asada Prepared that i get at Sanchez meat market in Culver City.....My Tacos were hot and fresh except for a overcooked corn tortilla on one...The meat was moist and had no fat or grizzle....My mom didn't fair as well and in 2 of her 3 tacos she had grizzle...Ive never had a grizzle problem at King Taco and i hope that the grizzle my mom had in her Carne Asada is just a isolated incident or im dropping this place one star..
