This company is not worth it. The owner only cares about the financial part of the care. Charging residents for care they don't receive. And if it was up to owner residents would only be allowed to be in rooms 7 minutes for all care. Impossible to care for residents thoroughly these residents deserve the best care not worried about if someone is going to check on them throughout the shift. They have lived a long prospering life at the end of their life they should be cared for truly. Very few caregivers actually care for the residents. And the ones that do care get accused of not doing their job. Overall not a good company to work for or care for residents. Please take your family members elsewhere to get the quality care they deserve. read more

if I could leave no starts I would. I quit the first month I was hired on. I've worked in this field for over 6 years at the point of hiring. The work environment was very unprofessional. We were understaffed daily. they expected two staff to take care of over 70 clients. Nobody needs are being met. meds are being left on administered on my first day. They dropped a med and I went to retrieve it and discovered that underneath the medicine cabinet there was dozens of meds that were un retrieved so I ended up having to retrieve many medication's that were left to get dusty under there. none of these were the reasons why I quit I quit because there was a group chat that had everyone hired on, including Lizette, the boss and Tammy, the HR. One of my coworkers made a mistake, a feminine mistake. us all being females on the job site. You would think that there would've been a little bit more amenity and respect and compassion, especially in this line of work. I quit due to bullying that was going on between other staff members, it was going on through the group chat for the entire company to be able to see. It was very childish. It was very ugly and I let them know right then in that chat that I was quitting that I did not want to be in an environment that felt like I had step back into high school at 30 years old. A week later the one that was being targeted for bullying quit because she was left on a shift to run by herself. All 70 people with just her to try and run the show. It is a complete shit show and the owner only wants money. She even bribes the client to go across the street to go spend their money at her restaurant so she double dibs as often as she can! If you love your loved ones at all, do not let them live in an environment where Lizette is running their healthcare!!! read more

If you want your loved one or family friend to be taken care of here, I would highly recommend taking them someplace else. The care is horrendous and everything may seem alright in the beginning but the caregiver to client ratio is like 20 to 1 a lot of the time. They don't even care about the residents they are taking care of. Charging residents for showers that are not being given. Residents laying in their own filth for hours on end. The owner lizette is not vaccinated and now has Covid, majority or all of her staff also not vaccinated. They now have Covid!!!!Covid outbreak at Shasta estates, lizette and staff going in and out of rooms unvaccinated often seen without a mask!!!!! How is this possible?? Lizette was very responsive when my mother was alive but tiring to get a refund for the month when my mother passed, I gave up, Lizette will not return my calls. I've been very happy with the care that Lizette and her staff provides...especially Amanda, she's great. my Aunt is 98 and has been bedridden for the past 3 years. They keep a sign-in log in her room that shows when they check on her and what service they have done. My Aunt is now on Hospice and they seem to be working well with the Hospice staff. read more

My mother has resided at Shasta Estates Senior Living Facility for the last 5 years. As her mental and physical condition has worsened, I have had to depend on the care facilitators with Serenity more and more. I have found them to be dependable, communicative, caring, and responsive. Some of their duties would be difficult and demanding for anyone, and they perform it admirably without complaint. And there rates for care are reasonable and can be negotiated. I highly recommend Lizette and her staff if you have a parent who needs senior care services. read more

Since day one - which is over a year ago, the gals from Serenity have bent over backwards to make my Dad as comfortable, clean and happy as possible. They always go the extra mile for him and keep me informed of any and all changes. I wish they didn't have as much turnover as they do - since it takes quite a while for each new caregiver to learn all the details about each client but as long as there are at least a couple of the girls who know him really well and can teach the new caregivers, all is well. Also, anytime I've had a serious concern and contacted Lizette - she has quickly resolved the issue. Because of these caretakers, I have not had to move my Dad to a care facility. We hired this caregiver service for mom-in-law who was a resident at Shasta Estates in Redding. From the second month after hiring them, the owner kept calling to increase her services because they were necessary. The worst part happened when she started hospice care. The owner Lizette Ybarra asked for $2,500 for the month of June and after only providing 2 weeks of service, asked for another $7,800 for hospice care and refused to credit us for half of what we paid for the month of June toward the hospice bill. Then, after being paid for a full week of hospice care, sadly my mom-in-law passed away. The owner took our $3,900 for 7-days of hospice care when she only provided 2 1/2 days of service and again refused to properly refund the family for services she did not render. This woman only cares about the money she can get from vulnerable families -- she pretends to care about your loved one when all she really cares about is taking as much money from you as she can get. Living high on the hog on money she is not rightfully entitled to. She finally agreed to pay the money she owed the family, but never made good on it. She refuses to return phone calls, faxes or letters. We are now looking at pursing her through an attorney. My advice is to shop around and find another service. If you are using this service, do NOT pay this woman until AFTER said services have been rendered because you will never see one dime of that money after Ms. Ybarra stuffs it into her already full pockets. She is a sheep in wolves clothing! BUYER BEWARE!!! read more

When we moved our mom into Shasta Estates she was relatively independent but her needs quickly began to change and the Serenity caregivers were able to step up to the challenge all along the way. We were worried she would have to move again but that turned out not to be necessary. She could be difficult at times and resisted the increasing help she required, but the girls knew how to approach her respectfully to provide the needed care, and she developed good relationships with them. Eventually she became unable to walk and required hospice care and Serenity was there to provide around the clock one on one attention. Was it expensive? Yes, but that is the nature of end of life care and Lizzette explained everything up front and seemed to know just what to do exactly when it was necessary. The caring and compassion shown for our mom was really impressive, and as a family, we were so relieved. We certainly didn't know the territory but Lizzette and her staff do. They made our mom's last days the best they could be. We have no regrets and are so grateful for the service Serenity provides. read more

I had a similar experience as Emily. Lizette collected money she was not entitled to and refuses to return it. She appears understanding and sympathetic but plays on your emotions and charges a lot, then pays her workers the bare minimum. Thankfully the workers we had were good and gave good care to my dad, but Lizette charged me for hospice care for days before he was even in hospice, and for 2 days after he passed away. She does not return phone calls, or respond to emails. I have a judgement against her in Small Claims Court that she has ignored, so will be taking further legal action against her!! DO NOT USE HER SERVICES - she will rip you off!!!!!!! read more

We has been using Serenity Care Services for the past year. Our mother resides at Shasta Estates and we are very happy with the care she is receiving from the care givers at Serenity. Our family does not live in the area, so it has given us great comfort to know Mom is being taken care of. They have always called us with any problems and keeps us posted on how she is doing. The BEST! Every employee at Serenity gave my Dad their all! Dad started receiving their care back in Sept of 2013. Just simple things like medication reminders. Then progressed to shower assists because of his balance issues. Then over time more time helping my Dad. Dad started becoming bladder incontinent, so I started to supply Depends because that is a family cost. The girls did a great job keeping him dry and comfortable. Dad's condition continued to decline over the last year and a half. More time by Serenity to get him ready for bed and dressed in the Mornings. Assisting him if he needed help getting down to any of his meals. I never had a complaint. Dad loved all the girls for how they took care of him and treated him with respect. If I had an issue with anything or a question it was taken care of immediately. If Dad had a doctor's appointment I would let them know and they would have him dressed and down stairs waiting for me to pick him up on time. Dad started needing all night care, they would check on him hourly for incontinent issues or him trying to get out of bed. I give them a lot of credit for what they had to do. And they were always pleasant. I didn't want to move him to an assisted living facility because he would not know anybody and not get the same one on one. Dad lived at Shasta Estates from March 2011 until his passing last month. He was on Hospice care the last two months of his life and that was all paid by Medicare. I still had costs because he was being hand fed every meal. The Serenity Girls were fantastic with him all the time I have no complaints. Lizette would go over any cost increase with me due to more time spent with Dad. So for myself my brother and my Dad they are all Terrific! Thank You Serenity. read more
