The home is truly very well cleaned and maintained and keeps all of the charms that a loved one would keep in a family home. Each bedroom had a theme which just tugged at the heart to love it a little more. The master bed was spacious and has a hot tub on the back porch just steps from the room. We enjoyed it almost every night! The heating in the bathrooms is a real treat to keep it warm post shower. We found the kitchen to be fully stocked for last minute platters needed for holiday cookies or a container to serve a rotisserie chicken in. The array of cups and glasses was vast and my favorite find were the vintage soup mugs to use for morning oatmeal! The patio and sheltered outdoor dining area are excellent to use and so incredibly functional it put us in awe. We had dinner every night at sunset with our families in the covered dining area. The sunsets are truly exceptional and the outdoor and new dining area are prime viewing spots. We used the fire table and hot tub on a nightly basis. The deck is so functional, it still has me in awe. The whole home's functionality and flow is just fantastic and we could not have been blessed with a better home to spend the holiday visiting family. We stayed with two dogs one of whom is handicapped and unable to use her hind legs. The access to grass for the dogs and sheer joy they experienced laying out on the deck in the winter sun warmed our hearts and truly brought joy to our furbabies. Every afternoon they would lay in the outdoor dining area and watch the chickens graze like it was doggie tv. Just happily observing. The whole vibe, energy and love of Cloud 9 just fit with our vibe. Any leftover food went into a bag in the freezer we kept for the chickens to peck at. They have a list of what the local area recycles so we could place in the proper trashcans. This truly fit in with our family's practices and beliefs and was refreshing to be somewhere that embraced this. Hearing about the passive heating the father who designed the home employed in the building and experiencing the sun warming the home on crisp winter days was a special and joyful time. The light pouring into the home only added to the warmth and charm which had us head over heals in love with Cloud 9. I would not hesitate to return, recommend to anyone and certainly am happy with the value. Janet was a gracious, present and communicative host. We are so very very happy we chose to spend our Christmas at Cloud 9! P.S. At Christmas Janet assembles and decorates the cutest and most heartwarming tree in the family living room. It was gorgeous and made our stay that much more lovely and holiday themed.

Grab a cut open milk jug from the shack and get to picking. You might even see Janet working in the field like we did. Kind and extremely helpful, she gave my littlest a jug and pointed us in the right direction. It was a hot summer day so we didn't stay forever but we still managed to pick enough blueberries for pancakes, muffins and scones. Payment is by the honor system so bring your cash and dollar bills. An entire milk jug is $16 - I wouldn't know what to do with that many berries! We probably picked about 2 pints worth and gave $5 to the money jug. Next year I will pay more attention to when the raspberries ripen in early June.

We stayed at The Pines Cottages. We were in Cabin #1. It was built in the 1920's. It was so quaint…read moreand cute! It has a fireplace too! The cabin is big enough for 2 people. There is a little kitchen stocked with cookware and dishes. We loved making coffee in the morning. It is pet friendly. It was such a wonderful experience. I was looking for something unique since we were celebrating our 29th wedding anniversary. Rebecca made our stay very special. She brought us a card, flowers and a bottle of Biltmore Estate wine. That was so sweet of her. We got to meet Hugo! What a sweet and gentle kitty. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for an amazing, cozy little cabin.

We were there during the week and had our whole section of the campground to ourselves and we had the pool completely to ourselves 2 days in a row The 1st night there was a whopping thunderstorm and our yurt was so cozy! Lying in bed watching the lightning through the skylight and hearing the rain on the canvas will always be a favorite memory for us! The whole resort is so well thought out and the people are super sweet! Thank you Nancy for being so kind and accommodating!

They refused to refund our wedding after Hurricane Helene forced them to cancel the date we had…read morealready paid in full for, citing a clause in the contract which allows them to wriggle out of giving you back any money you give to them. They would only offer to reschedule. We were obviously disappointed but managed to whip up a truly incredible wedding locally in Raleigh instead. We decided we wanted to have a small vow renewal next year at Homewood so we could have the ceremony we imagined while also keeping our money in the Asheville community with our vendors. We asked if they would reschedule our date and give us a partial refund as the scope of the event would be significantly reduced. They again refused, again, citing the clause in the contract. We made a completely reasonable request - requesting that we be refunded the difference between what we booked initially and what the new event would have cost and they refused it. The entire situation left a really bad taste in our mouths and now we want nothing to do with these people. They showed themselves to be cold, cynical business people. They can throw a wedding in an empty room next year for all we care.

I'll start with the cons: Cons: -Julie showed us around the property today. She knew our wedding date (1/16/21) and that we wanted an outside ceremony because I am hoping for snow. There were multiple times that she said "oh, I won't show you that because you're having a winter wedding and you won't be outside" -WOAH! Please PLEASE show us outside because we expressed our specific desire to have it OUTSIDE!! -The bridal "suite" was a complete joke. First off, you are overwhelmed by the smell of mold when entering. It is not actually a "suite" at all, but rather a dark room with a separate cramped bathroom to get ready in. No bridal dress would even fit in that teeny tiny room. -During our tour of the property, Julie interrupted a bridal party who was actively engaged in their rehearsal. She made two elderly women get up from their chairs so that we could sit down at a table in the ballroom and look at some photos of the property while Julie disappeared into an office for twenty minutes while she "ran numbers" for us. We found this to be extremely unprofessional. We should not have been interrupting another family's special moment and she should have taken us back into a private office to speak. While she left us alone for what felt like a century, we kept asking eachother if we thought we should just escape while we could. Yikes. -The ballroom is beautiful but the venue is TINY! If it were up to Julie (who, remember, doesn't think you should have a ceremony outside in the winter!) both the ceremony and the reception would take place in the same small room. Nooooo thanks. -The linens are not included. (....what??) -The "decor" and plates that are included are super bland and almost purposely boring. There is only one set of dishes to choose from m. PROs: -During Julie's 20 minute absence, she created and printed out an estimate of cost that broke down all our expected costs. She didn't want to go over it with us, she just handed it over and said "it was nice meeting you both!" Soooo yeah. We will be getting married at The Farm in Candler. They've got it so much more together there and everything is included. Update: We have received several badgering emails from Homewood basically asking "have you picked us yet? Do you have any more questions? Hellooo??" When none of the either venues we toured behaved this way. Just leave us be!

Jen is WONDERFUL: passionate, creative, incredibly responsive, and genuinely invested in making your wedding everything you've dreamed of. Kimberly, our day-of coordinator, was also 10/10 FANTASTIC. She went above and beyond for us and made sure every detail was taken care of so we could actually relax and enjoy our day. Honestly, the entire staff is so friendly and clearly cares a lot about this business. My family couldn't stop talking about how wonderful everyone was! And speaking of the big day... it was perfect. We owe so much of that to the Haiku team and their ability to bring our vision and dreams to life. Asheville weather is a bit finicky in regards to rain, so we decided to hold our ceremony, reception, and dance floor indoors. The outdoor area has many seating areas or spots for pictures, including a fire pit and a koi fish pond. We got so many compliments on how beautiful the venue is, one couple even said they may have to book this venue too! The bar was one of the highlights of this venue. Drinks were delicious, and kept flowing. The staff here is absolutely fantastic, Dawnn was our coordinator and she made everything flow so well. Things were set up and packed up behind the scenes. By the end of the night, everything was packed up and ready to be brought to the car.

I requested a "boho/country" style and Celeste came through with vintage decor and gorgeous locally grown flowers. It was truly perfect and I couldn't have planned it better myself. When I tried to reason with her she said that I already signed the paperwork and I would have to take her to court. I will never stay here again which is a shame because I did enjoy my stay at the time. Don't get ripped off!
