First time here, had brunch with some friends. The restaurant is nice and clean . The lady at the register was nice and friendly. But the numbers they pass out need to be taller. The waitress has a hard time finding our table she walked around at two different times look for our number and when she found our table she I'm sorry those numbers are hard to find. I think the numbers should be taller so the wait staff can see them. Anyway the food was good and tasty. But the falafel bowl is kinda dry and the tzatziki sauce tastes like sour cream. It come out of plastic container. I added Greek dressing to my falafel bowl. It was better. ( please work on the falafel bowl no one likes a dry bowl) My friends had gotten the Hot Mother Clucker is was so delicious . The nitty gritty bowl my friend says it was good but there were burnt flakes in it she wasn't sure what that was. Pearl Sugar Waffles were good by way to sweet. The "Big fatty "breakfast burrito was very small and thin for $12.00 not worth the price but it was delicious. I know this is a small town and heard this was a great place to eat. So we decide to try it out. Needs a little tweaking between the servers. Free water cups are 4oz , they should actually have clear plastic water cups that are a little larger. It would've also been nice to have a pitcher of water or something over by the tea. So you could fill up your own glass. When the Resturant is busy you had to wait to ask for a refill by then your food is cold. This place could be good if tweaked. If you're not sure about my review check it out yourselves. Decided on having a nice breakfast while here on vacation. We saw the menu and had to try it out. We walked in and immediately loved the spot. It was nicely decorated, spacious and had a very relaxed atmosphere. We had an opportunity to meet the owner and chat and he was the BEST. We decided to order the waffles and cinnamon bun, and it was absolutely. Fresh, light, and a taste was perfect. The hot chocolate and coffee were also good. We will defiantly be back to visit this spot. read more

My takeout order took 10 minutes despite the restaurant not being busy. I was excited to try the falafel, but extremely disappointed at the open faced sandwich: 2 small falafel cut in half, on quite dry bread and thick cut (can only taste the bread), quarter slices of cucumber sprinkled about, very minimal tzatziki and feta. Just a general note- falafel, tzatziki, feta- taste combo doesn't go with rye bread! It was an experiment for me that just didn't work In short, not good tasting and poor value. read more

My visit to this location was both satisfying and slightly disappointing. I visited on Easter Sunday 2025 and seating was not a problem. At the time of my visit no one greeted us or sat us at a table. We inquired about seating and were directed to take a menu and select our own seating, we could then return to the counter and place our orders? This was an awkward initial experience. Service was attentive but also awkward. I ordered the Nitty Gritty Bowl and it was very good! The disappointment came when it was served in a plastic take out container with plastic utensils. I really wasn't expecting this in a downtown sit down restaurant. The food was good but.the overall service vibe just wasn't what I expect from such an establishment. (to include paying with tip included before being served) In my opinion the service model needs to be revisited to make the customer the center of the experience. read more

Came here for brunch with friends while in town. 1 of my friends suggested this place after hearing great reviews from others. I loved the layout of the restaurant. Couches, tables for dining, an upstairs area( it was closed on our visit). There were so many yummy options to choose from, being able to see others food brought out helped us make a decision. The pastry display near the counter where you order your food lures you in!! I ordered the Cali breakfast sandwich with fries and had to try the chocolate sea salt caramel bacon lol. My friends got the chicken and waffles and croissant breakfast sandwich which they really enjoyed. The bacon was great!! Balanced very well, not too salty. The sandwich was good, initially I wasn't too sure about the mustard that came out it but it wasn't bad. The employees were very friendly and attentive. The owner also came around talking to guest, Such was great. You can see how his personality and intentionality shows up in the restaurant. While the decor was cute. As an eatery they have much to learn. inexperienced staff. The food is cooked ahead of time and they are unwilling to throw the eggs back on the grill to make them well done. I have never experienced a food establishment refusing to cook eggs to order. We left. read more

Sunday brunch is our fav so we are back again today. We tried the strawberry cheese danish and it is a MUST! Sooooo good! I ordered my nitty gritty bowl and they were sold out. A bit bummed since it's only 10:30 am, but I opted for the waffles because they are my second fav! They are so unbelievably sweet and super yummy. Also I just realized today that they changed the soda prices from $3 to $2. Much better pricing! I also tried an iced mocha today. It wasn't too sweet or too bitter. Will order again. read more

Wanted to post an updated review for people looking for an awesome breakfast place! Not disappointed with anything we got. My brother and I both got the Gold Digger biscuit and drip coffee. The staff here are very friendly and the owner/manager guy walks around and checks on you-really nice guy! The lighting in the place is very bright and natural. Plenty of seating with multiple floors and outside options. 10/10 would recommend and will definitely be coming back. read more

We stopped on the way to Sugar Mountain. It was a very nice looking place and the staff was friendly. The food was good too!

Hours of operation online and on door state 10-2 on Sundays. We were able to get food but at 1:15 heard owner tell customers no food will be served. Ordered 4 breakfast platters. Disappointed with eggs. They were powdered eggs...! No taste. And toast was hard, could break a tooth. But a Few positives, Bacon is always good and they do check on customers. For a brunch restaurant please make fresh scrambled eggs and we will return! And please serve full menu during hours of operation read more

I really love everything about this place and I'm super excited we finally have an adorable new brunch spot. The bagels are absolutely fantastic. I definitely would have like a bit more of that solo that was on it because it was a little dry as a whole. But the bagel was my favorite part. The coffee was divine! I'm going to begin with what is most important to me when visiting any venue to enjoy a meal: the service and the cleanliness. When you walk through the front door a friendly voice greets you; it's not unusual to begin scanning the area for an available table, and, noticing once again the cleanliness of the cafe is on point~inviting one to wait for a table. On more than one occasion I have been invited to join a person sitting at a table by themselves who invited me to join her. Most often the customers create the happy ambiance. Now, if Dan was only able to bring his sweet dog and lovely wife to work with him and the remaining staff ~ all would be % plus ~ equivalent to shear perfection. Try Cafe on Main. Finally a place around here that merits my review! Look, this is first world breakfast compared to the third world diners around this area. Chicken and waffles? Not simply that, on a pear waffle with candied bacon on top, great quality syrup and fresh chives. The chives gives it that touch. The thing that keeps me from giving them five stars are the long lines I experienced. Only one person taking orders. The other two things I would love to see is coffee served in ceramic cups and table service. Will be coming back. read more

Me and five others were traveling home and wanted to go to a local restaurant for breakfast. The pictures looked great. However, the food was horrible. I ordered the pancakes with two fried eggs instead of scrambled. I was served cold food. Not warm cold! The pancakes look like they came from a frozen package and the eggs were identical, overcooked through and again from a frozen package. It was disgusting. My friends ordered the breakfast bowl, which was also cold. The cheese was sprinkled on top and not melted. I will say the only nice touch was the fresh avocado added to it. Their scrambled eggs were overcooked and dark brown. Only one employee was assembling each each meal yet. There were many employees walking around. We waited a long time for food to show up. Mind you it took a long time to receive cold food. I will not be back on my next travel to Lake Lure They are strawberry danish was delicious. I doubt they made it. Great food, we eat there at least once a week. The upscale bagel and season fries are an aweway to start your day.

This new cafe is a welcome addition to our town. The food is well prepared and the atmosphere is quaint. There are a few suggestions I would like to offer. I attempted to order the Knitty Gritty bowl and was informed they had just sold the last one....? They had only been open 30 minutes. Is the food prepared before hand? There was not an option for unsweet tea. I agree this is the south however, there are a number of diabetics who appreciate tea also. I felt the biscuits were almost perfect except why drown them in a relatively bland sausage gravy. Use more seasoning and less gravy. These opinions are mine alone based on my taste buds and snippets over heard from others. I watched at least 10 people walk away due to the line.... Perhaps table service would be a better option? Again, I am thrilled to see this option in the RC and hope with a few tweeks Maples on Main will thrive. read more

Great people nice renovated $$$ bake goods dry and mediocre. Over baked causes them to be dry. The bagels small and tasteless. Being a New Yorker I know Bagels. My wife hade the croissants they also where very dry. Coffee was good. Outside sitting pet friendly. Great Staff! Owners are friendly. good people. We spent close to $50 for breakfast. Baked goods included. Which we took home. Was not worth the expense. Just go to Ingals for your baked goods. Save yourself some $. Or pick up some Dave's bread Bagels. read more

Cute place and location. We got there about 50 mins before closing. The cashier watched us look over the menu for a few minutes before telling us they ran out of food and the only food available are bagels and powdered waffles. We should've left then, but wanted to give it a try. Plus, owner is nice. Anyway, while waiting for our powdered waffles, other customers came in and ordered another item on the menu and weren't limited to powdered waffles and bagels. We were also not told where to grab our drinks from. It was unfortunate, but will try again next time we're in town. The powdered waffles were mediocre. read more
