Dr. Gburek saved my life. I was referred to him after an ER visit that not only took my dignity,…read morebut my reputation. Over the course of the last 3 years I can confidently tell you what an amazing man and hidden gem he is. A crisis in our country is the state of the healthcare industry and the toll it takes on providers. Providers can become so overworked or burnt out that they forget to see their patient as a person or have so little time that spending any extra time advocating can seem daunting. Dr. Gburek found me at the lowest point in my life. By simply listening to me, treating me like a human being, and advocating for me; he made all the difference in the world. He carefully made care plans based on my life goals like having children and factors such as my age to refer me to specialists. I had a unique case where I became medically handicapped in terms of medication. Steroids and NSAIDs cause me to develop stomach issues I had never even heard of. Stomach issues that caused me to be unable to eat regularly for nearly an entire year. I was wasting away to nothing while I waited for Cigna or any doctor to help me. I had lost 20 pounds unintentionally in 365 days. He tried to send me to specialists that could find an answer for my symptoms, but to my dismay, those specialists had no answer for me or even any ideas of how to help me. If you've ever been in that position you know how lonely and desolate it can be. It was traumatic To even be brought to that point I spent years of my life arguing with Cigna that my life mattered but, naturally, they only want to hear what the doctor thinks. Even if that doctor has not throughly completed an assessment, offered any treatments aside from medication, or been inappropriate with your care. Dr. Gburek is not one of those providers. He takes your health and goals seriously and will advocate to give you your life back. He is the only provider who advocated for me with Cigna over the last 3 years. My health struggles robbed me of my identity and I believed there was no hope. Dr. Gburek did not leave me with no hope and he did not leave me without solution. Instead, he fought for me and saved my life. By giving me a life with manageable pain, I am able to pick back up the pieces of who I used to be and who I want to become while continuing to help others as he helped me. I want providers like Dr. Gburek to know how important their care is so they don't lose sight of why they do this and continue to help people. I want patients to see this and know that there is hope for your case. He deserves all the praise and I am incredibly thankful for my healthcare hero. Experiencing a chronic health struggle can be dark but hopefully you can find someone like Dr. Gburek to turn on the light.

Unlike the neurologist I've been seeing for over a year, they did not dismiss my symptoms and actually listened to me. They are compassionate and don't make you feel like your symptoms aren't real. Awaiting a full spine and brain MRI they ordered with no hesitation. They really made me feel at ease, and I know they are determined to get to the bottom of my complex situation. They really care and I highly recommend them to anyone, especially if you are needing doctors who truly listen. They told me they we get me back to having a better quality of life, and I believe they are determined to do this. Highly recommend.

For a long time it's felt like somebody was just poking me 24 hours a day really hard in the shoulder and back and I have not been able to relax or get a good nights sleep. Dr Mark Malone was focused, he spent time with me, listened to me, explained all of my options far in advance, discussed what I could expect and I am so grateful for his help. He has a gracefor bedside manner. He really is just a gentle, kind soul guy, exactly someone you trust working on you. Not to mention everybody else involved. Couldn't possibly praise Dr. Stevenson enough or every staff member. Every single person explained to me exactly why they were there and what their role would be. Everyone was nice and gentle, it was great. They have a great operation at APC. Highly recommend.

I have never in my life left a negative review. But I need to say something about my experience…read moretoday for future new patients. My situation is I am moving here from out of state. My current pain management doctor in the other state has me on medication that I don't particularly want to be on. It isn't any major meds everyone talks about but it is physically addictive and I need help with other pain management options. I am totally open to other options. Because I'm moving and getting a new doctor I called for an appointment and said I am open to any new ideas, BUT, I said, in truth and real life, I am on medication and I will need help getting off of it - if that is possible. So...I need a doctor who is willing to work with me on new ideas and medication, at least for now. I was told when making the appointment that capital pain institute doctors did that, but there was no guarantee, etc., to which I said 'of course, totally understandable'. But, again, they Do Handle Pain Med Management. It says they do on their webpage, and there's a sign at the check-in desk that says medications will be submitted by 6 PM. And, I even spoke to the girl who checked my vitals and asked if she enjoyed working there. I asked if people sometimes got mad about mixups with their meds, because I had witnessed that in NV, and she talked about how patients have been really nice at that office so far. POINT IS, they obviously do medication management. BUT, for some reason, NOT FOR ME. I meet with the doctor and I tell her exactly what's going on. I talk to her about the medication and needing someone who can prescribe it at least until I can stop taking it because other options will hopefully be available! I talked to her about how I don't want to take the medication forever and I that my NV doctor and I spoken about it several times. But without options, I cannot work or live outside of pain without it, at least for NOW, but I am praying not forever. I NEVER ASKED FOR MEDS TODAY. I take my meds correctly and don't need any today. It never even crossed my mind. Sooooo, after all that, the doctor says that Capital Pain Institute does not provide pain medicine management so I am not a good fit. Seems strange that they don't provide it per this doctor, considering all the other signs that they do provide it. But for whatever reason I was referred to go find another doctor. I am a 60 year-old professional woman. I can think of no reason why I would be looked at or treated as somebody who is out pill searching. I did not ask for pills today. I made all of this clear when I made the appointment, and when I was at the appointment. My issue is either the doctor, for no apparent reason, did not want me to be a patient with them, or their advertisements are NOT TRUE. One way or another, this morning wasted 3 1/2 hours of my life. And I was ultimately belittled if they do offer med management but just not for me. I hope that whatever the answer is Capital Pain Institute chooses to handle their other patients a little better than this. I absolutely despise pain management and the stigma that comes with it and I know there are a lot of other people that feel like me. We don't enjoy spending our lives in pain. I WILL NEVER KNOW THE TRUTH OF WHAT HAPPENED TODAY. But if their system is fixable and it prevents this from happening to people in way worse situations than me, then I am glad I took time out of my life to write this. Blessings to the other people like me who have suffered under the incompetence of pain management in America!! I am giving 2 stars for the staff in the office who were lovely. The doctor seemed nice and caring, so I am giving her the benefit of doubt, and I am hoping this is an advertising issue Cap Pain Institute will fix.

My experience with Pain Specialists of America's Round Rock office, particularly Dr. Arias, was…read moreextremely disappointing. During my appointment, Dr. Arias volunteered that she did not become a doctor because she needed the money, explaining that her family was wealthy. I found this highly inappropriate and irrelevant to my medical care. The office schedules patients only 15 minutes apart, yet my experience was that appointments took much longer. My appointment was at 9:30 a.m., but I was not seen until nearly 10:45. When I raised my concern about the delay, Dr. Arias became defensive and said she would spend as much time with me as necessary. That missed the point entirely. I expect a physician to provide thorough care, but I also expect the practice to schedule realistically and respect every patient's time. I was also required to undergo a test that I did not believe was necessary. After the results were available, Dr. Arias insisted that I return for another office visit rather than communicating the information another way. This left me feeling that generating another billable appointment was more important than avoiding an unnecessary expense and inconvenience for me. Finally, when I mentioned the healthcare company where I work, she criticized the company directly to me. That was unprofessional and had nothing to do with the care I was seeking. In my 65 years, I have never encountered a physician whose manner felt so unprofessional and dismissive. Based on my experience, this practice seemed more focused on billing and volume than on respecting patients' time, money, and concerns. I cannot recommend Dr. Arias or the Pain Specialists of America.
