Dr. Gburek saved my life. I was referred to him after an ER visit that not only took my dignity,…read morebut my reputation. Over the course of the last 3 years I can confidently tell you what an amazing man and hidden gem he is. A crisis in our country is the state of the healthcare industry and the toll it takes on providers. Providers can become so overworked or burnt out that they forget to see their patient as a person or have so little time that spending any extra time advocating can seem daunting. Dr. Gburek found me at the lowest point in my life. By simply listening to me, treating me like a human being, and advocating for me; he made all the difference in the world. He carefully made care plans based on my life goals like having children and factors such as my age to refer me to specialists. I had a unique case where I became medically handicapped in terms of medication. Steroids and NSAIDs cause me to develop stomach issues I had never even heard of. Stomach issues that caused me to be unable to eat regularly for nearly an entire year. I was wasting away to nothing while I waited for Cigna or any doctor to help me. I had lost 20 pounds unintentionally in 365 days. He tried to send me to specialists that could find an answer for my symptoms, but to my dismay, those specialists had no answer for me or even any ideas of how to help me. If you've ever been in that position you know how lonely and desolate it can be. It was traumatic To even be brought to that point I spent years of my life arguing with Cigna that my life mattered but, naturally, they only want to hear what the doctor thinks. Even if that doctor has not throughly completed an assessment, offered any treatments aside from medication, or been inappropriate with your care. Dr. Gburek is not one of those providers. He takes your health and goals seriously and will advocate to give you your life back. He is the only provider who advocated for me with Cigna over the last 3 years. My health struggles robbed me of my identity and I believed there was no hope. Dr. Gburek did not leave me with no hope and he did not leave me without solution. Instead, he fought for me and saved my life. By giving me a life with manageable pain, I am able to pick back up the pieces of who I used to be and who I want to become while continuing to help others as he helped me. I want providers like Dr. Gburek to know how important their care is so they don't lose sight of why they do this and continue to help people. I want patients to see this and know that there is hope for your case. He deserves all the praise and I am incredibly thankful for my healthcare hero. Experiencing a chronic health struggle can be dark but hopefully you can find someone like Dr. Gburek to turn on the light.

The injections were quick and smooth (not going to say painless because that would be lying) but if you can't have it a little pain, they have the option for a local and aesthetic. If you are dealing with back or hip pain or pain in general your body, I would highly recommend scheduling a visit through your doctor.

I had the opportunity to have him do a nerve block on me in 2011 and found him to have a wonderful manner. But, make sure if you are looking for Dr. Manees you realize that he is no longer with the practice. After being a patient since 2009, I left CTPI and went to another Pain Management Practice. I also have been to their associated Surgicenter, my Pain Mgmt Dr has performed two Nerve Blocks on me and I have had GREAT relief. I have found the staff at their Surgicenter to be efficient, wonderful, and just very perfect when you are in pain. Also, their billing is integrated with the Doctor (you can go somewhere else) but I have not had any billing issues, where I had significant billing issues with the Pain Relieft SurgiCenter. I wish I could still give this place multiple stars, but after going elsewhere and having my care integrated with a management plan well looked after--no frustrations where I'm worrying about are they just trying to get the "track" that will give them more money--I cannot give the Pain Relief SurgiCenter anything. I wish I didn't have to give them a star at all. Find another doctor. The staff is nice but you can find better.

After going back and forth with his primary and not getting anywhere we sought out the assistance of Dr. Rafii. Dr. Rafii cared, listened and tried to get things figured out with my husband. After a few visits with Dr. Rafii and no real sense of relief for my husband Dr. Rafii did something he said he's never done and ordered a brain MRI...where they found 13 tumors on my husband brain. With the evidence in hand as horrible as it was we had an answer. We later found out that my husband had small cell lung cancer that had metastasized to his brain and he passed just a year later. If it wasn't for Dr. Rafii I don't think we would have even had that year. I am forever grateful for Dr. Rafii and his team for their compassion and care. May God be with you all.

I hardly ever write reviews... but this one is long overdue…read more I had been seeing Dr. Raffi for about a year, and due to personal reasons I had to switch Dr's for maintenance of flair ups. I'm starting an intensive physical therapy program and hoping I won't need maintenance for too much longer. That being said, I am grateful for the time I had with Dr. Rafii. Dealing with a chronic pain condition can be stressful for the Dr. and patient both. But navigating those waters of trial and error didn't seem bad at all with him. It felt more like a team collaboration. Even when times were easy to give up and refer me out...he didn't. It was actually that exact act of kindness that made me want to explore outside of the box of just traditional pain meds. I felt like I had a cheerleader as cheesy as that sounds. It's really hard to find a good Dr. these days and especially one that makes you WANT to get better. Kuddos to you, Dr. Rafii. Thank you for your help. I would definitely refer you to anyone in need.

I have been seeing Ascent Pain Management in Killeen for well over a year. As of March 31, 2026 I…read morewas informed that it would be the last appointment at this particular office due to it being closed permanently. On that day I was made an appointment for a pain stimulator as I had recently had an ablation on my lower back and I was still experiencing excruciating pain. It was explained to me that I would need a psychiatric evaluation prior to having the trial stimulator placed. I had the appointment for that on April the 14th. From that I was approved to go forward with the process. Shortly thereafter I received an Explanation of Benefits that showed multiple charges the most concerning being the one for the pain stimulator as if it had already been installed in me. I contacted the office several times and had to leave various messages due to no one ever answering the phone or voicemails. When I finally did make contact with someone the employee advised me that it wasn't a charge but an "authorization." I contacted the VA to clarify that I was correct in that a charge had been made and it was not an "authorization" because the clinic already had that and it would not have come in that form from billing. I later called and left several messages that this would need to be rectified or I was going to report them for fraud. After this I was once again getting the run around. On May 6th someone named Craig called from Ascent Pain Management apologizing numerous times during the call that a charge was definitely made and the person responsible was terminated. He then advised me that the procedure would be taken care of for me at no expense to me because of what had taken place. My appointment for this procedure was scheduled for June 1st. He couldn't give me a time and said someone would be in contact. Fast forward to a few days before June 1st I had still not heard from anyone about a time. So once again I called the office, still not able to get anyone to answer. I left a message and let them know at this point I felt as a patient to their office since they left the Killeen office I felt abandoned. The next morning I called again and no answer. A few minutes later someone from the clinic called me back and asked how could they help me. I let her know that since leaving the Killeen office this whole process has been nothing but confusion, I felt abandoned and it was extremely unprofessional on their part how I was being taken care of. She placed me on hold and came back telling me that an office manager would call me back in a "few." I didn't receive a call until the next day. I can't recall the gentlemen's name but he wanted to know specifically what I was told by Craig. I told him about the discussion we had. He went on to tell me that I wouldn't be able to have the procedure done on the 1st of June because they needed to send the payment back. Since then I received another letter from TriWest showing they tried to bill under my husband's insurance (active duty) and it was denied. I'm not actually sure of how his information was provided seeing as I am the Veteran and I went through the VA to be seen for all of these appointments. So now I'm still dealing with pain, I have no appointment for a follow-up, I'm not sure when exactly that my authorization expires and I'm extremely frustrated. It was already going to be an inconvenience to me to have to travel to Austin from regular treatment. Now this whole process has made me not want to go any further with the clinic and I want to file a formal complaint. I would also like to see another provider that is outside of this facility. Every few months I was having to see a new provider because they were quitting for whatever reason. This is the most unprofessional, stressful medical experience I have ever had and if this is the way they treat their patients veterans or not I want nothing else to do with them. Now when I had the ablation procedure the process and everything else was fine. But afterwards the service has been extremely horrible!
