Today I witnessed a dangerous event at Serentlity Dental. As a Surgical Nurse Practioner for 27 years. I took a friend to a dental appointment. She needed a ride as she stated she was being sedated for a procedure. We were early to the appointment and we witnessed an elderly small framed lady trying her best to hold up her very large husband between her body and the wall until she got him inside to sit down. He was totally out of it. This is scary as he could have fallen on the sidewalk, cracked his head open or worse they both could have fallen and been seriously hurt. When the staff called him back, they did not have a gait stabilized walking belt or wheelchair. The girl who was taking him back said to him, don't fall or we will be both fall. This is so dangerous and unprofessional. These patients should not be sedated without a medical doctor and medical staff present especially an MD for sedating patients. This is a dental office. My friend had an appointment she was completely sedated. She is 79 they called in her sedation medicine a week in advance, they did not call, or confirm that she had transportation or a caregiver. She took all the medicine that they had given her only to find out she did not have an appointment today. So she was sent home drugged. This is very reckless and disturbing and I would not recommend this unsafe dental office to anyone. No medications should be called in a week in advance, only 1-2 days prior a procedure and the office should confirm the patient has a caregiver and speak with that caregiver, so that there are safety precautions in place and the patients are at their appointmens on the correct dates. I still fear for the patients safety as I seriously doubt this office would even know what to do in the event of heart failure, a fall, or any other type of emergency. If they are prescribing sedating medications they need a Medical Doctor on site and know how to transport patients safely and confirm that they have adequate caregivers by confirming with the caregiver. Very concerning and dangerous place. I do not recommend this place to anyone. read more
