I had a Labor Induction Massage session with Kaelyn at exactly 40 weeks. The set up in the room was super calming and welcoming. Kaelyn had everything set up to accommodate my bump and ensured that we were comfortable. The massage was like a standard Swedish massage with the addition of focusing on a few acupressure points to stimulate labor. The pressure was great, the music was relaxing, and the whole vibe was exactly what I needed. Afterwards, I was provided with water and tips on things I could do at home to extend the effects of the session. I didn't go into labor and I'm actually getting induced at 41w2d, but I'd still highly recommend Serene Relaxation's services to an expecting birthing person

In response to the prior review where they claimed to offer the "full amount of the service". I was asked if I could wait for a late therapist. Unfortunately I could not because of child care and said I would have to reschedule. I was immediately told to look at last minute cancellation policies. They could have said "no problem, sorry it didn't work out- we will reschedule you." But they didn't, they told me their "policy" meant this was a last minute cancel on my end. Now they're trying to say they offered me the full amount of my service- This never happened. No refund offered. No reschedule offered. Incredibly rude and not accommodating. The therapist never even called to discuss with me directly about another day/time that might work. Just had someone else texting indicating that I should check out their policies. Weather happens, traffic happens but when that happens, you apologize and reschedule the client who is waiting on you if they can't wait- you don't tell them to look at the cancellation policy if they can't wait for you. They continue to say, "there's nothing we can do based on the policy". You can, you can refund the service, can and reschedule for another day at no additional cost the client. There are so many things you can do when you have to cancel on someone last minute for something out of your control.

This place is amazing. Easy to find and plenty of off street pro care parking. I arrived 15 minutes prior to my appointment was greeted by my massage therapist. I filled out client paperwork, and began my massage at my appointment time. My massage therapist asked which pressure I preferred (gentle, medium, deep) and inquired about my problem areas (ex: neck, back, legs, hips, etc). The pressure was on point and I felt her massage out spots of tension and pressure points. My only gripe is that I wish I had a longer session. I will return and recommend that you do as well!

Ask the Community - Serene Relaxation

Do you offer “ear candling”? I moved here years ago and still havent found anyone who does it. Thanks, Terri

Do you offer in-home prenatal massages?

We will start this service again once COVID-19 gets a bit better for our community. As of this moment we are offering in office services due to easier sanitation for our clients.

How much do you charge for prenatal massage?

It would ultimately depend on the length of your massage that you would like to indulge in. We do range from a 20min massage at $35 dollars up to a 90min massage being $120, you can do anything in between these time frames. Our massages for… Read more

She is committed to home birth as a better birth process, and because of her background she really knows what she is talking about, both about the problems that can come from hospital care and how to watch for serious medical issues that require that hospital care. Renee attended the water birth of my son (she supplied the tub). She helped me through the complication of early water breaking (four days before deliver). We had a successful home birth without pitocin, but I was confident that if we had needed to, Renee would have made the call to transfer to the hospital in a timely, non-emergency manner. Her calm, confident presence at the birth made all the difference for me. Though it is unusual, I had a tear from my birth that required stitches (normally tears can be left to heal better than sewing, but mine was a different kind) and Renee sewed me so well that several doctors who examined me since commented on what an amazing job the person had done on my stitches. For prenatal care, Renee isn't in a hurry, she gives as long as it takes to get your questions answered. She orders routine prenatal labs and ultrasounds when you need / want them, but doesn't force you to get tests you don't want. She also takes care to help mothers prepare emotionally for birth and parenthood, and she welcomes dads at prenatal visits as well. Also, she can really feel what that baby is doing inside you. Even when I couldn't tell, she knew exactly where he was and what he was doing in there. I have no regrets whatsoever about choosing Renee for my home birth, and I only hope that if I have another child I will be able to have her again, or find another midwife at least half as good.

My husband and I decided to hire Amy (back in April) for the birth of our second child. After interviewing with several doulas, there was no doubt Amy was the perfect doula for us. We conveniently met at a local coffee shop for our initial interview. Once we arrived, Amy had already set up a table with materials for our perusal and water for our enjoyment (talk about attention to detail)! She explained her practice to us and listened attentively as we described our birth-plan vision to her. At the end of our meeting she provided great materials for us to take home (including evidence-based articles, pamphlets, and the River Bend contract/policies). During our pre-natal home visits we bombarded Amy with questions. Not once did she waiver, and she provided thorough responses and reassurance. She showed us several relaxation techniques and exercises to implement during the early phase of labor. She walked us through the entire process of what to expect and how we would work together to achieve our ideal birth. On the big day, we agreed to meet at the hospital. She arrived well before we did and was ready to hit the ground running. As my husband parked the car, Amy wheeled me in and handled the registration portion and helped me set up in the delivery room (she had memorized all of the vital info/details and was able to answer the hospital staff's questions). Not having to do all this myself was such a relief. She suggested a better position at the time of pushing, continually offered words of encouragement, and wiped the sweat off my forehead, etc. She knew exactly what I needed without me having to say a single word. All of this as I'm yelling at the top of my lungs! After the birth she helped take pictures and even set up my meal. The post-partum visit followed in similar River Bend fashion (Amy will cater to your specific needs). Overall, our experience working with Amy at River Bend was magnificent. We cannot say enough good things about the service and Amy's admirable work ethic. Thank you so much Amy!

As a doula, she is extremely capable, professional, and supportive. When I first connected with Shalin via videochat for a consultation, she instantly made me feel comfortable. I decided to go with Shalin based on how experienced and knowledgeable she seemed, as well as how comprehensive her doula services package was. Over the course of my pregnancy, Shalin visited my house several times to educate my husband and me about the birthing process, evidence-based approaches to birth, and different ways to prepare my body for birth, and to go over my birth plan. The whole process made me feel really prepared for the birth and gave me a greater understanding of what I wanted for the birth. I also appreciated that I got to know Shalin more during the pregnancy so that she didn't feel like a stranger at all. In fact, she is so warm and friendly that she felt more like a friend! She didn't push any particular views on me but wanted me to feel supported in my birth preferences.  When I went into early labor, Shalin was very responsive and kept checking in on me to see how labor was progressing, and when we decided to go to the hospital, she was super quick to meet us there. She was prepared in every way and set up lights and candles for the room. The hospital room was a vibe and very peaceful! Since I gave birth in a hospital setting, it was also important to me to have someone who could help advocate for me. When my hospital care team asked me to do certain things, Shalin checked in with me to see if I wanted to proceed with what they were asking. During the labor, she suggested different laboring positions and did counterpressure and other comfort measures, which helped me tremendously in coping with the pain. With Shalin's help and support, all my birth preferences were met! I had such a positive, empowering labor - something I never would have thought possible after my first delivery experience (without a doula).  I loved having Shalin as my doula and I highly recommend her! I can't stress enough how having her as my doula made such a difference to my second delivery experience. I am so happy with how everything went and really couldn't have done it without Shalin!

She did a very thorough interview with me and my husband, fully understood what experience we are looking for and made amazing recommendations. She recommended me with a hospital I wasn't aware of that has great staff and with midwifery care. Since I was late stage pregnant (32+weeks), she pulled all her strings to help the new hospital accept me as a patient. And all the way up until the delivery date, she was only one text/call away for any questions I had. The birth was still painful, but with the midwifery care, Tashina's preparation with me and my husband, the hot tub setup, and her being there as my advocate, the birth was quick, smooth, and no manual extraction of placenta! My second son was almost 8lbs and no tear or stitches. Even weeks after birth, Tashina came visit and always checked in with me to help me with breastfeeding issues, baby colic issues etc. Tashina is so knowledgeable, caring and loving. And trust me when I say I am the last person who would feel confident about being able to do that. She actually (at our request) gave us a baby care boot camp - way better getting childcare info from her than from the classes at the hosp. And then she was with us for the whole birth - which we did at the hospital, might I add. She certainly does midwifery and home birthing, but I wanted a hospital birth and just the emotional support. She was terrific. When the doctors/nurses changed shifts, we still had her. When they made suggestions, we had her to ask what they meant/what she thought/advocate for us. When we told the OB we were taking a Bradley Method class, she was very pleased - in her experience, it's been the absolute best preparation for natural birth. We had a phenomenal birth experience, and I credit the class with Megan and Jordan completely. We learned so much from them and were given so much confidence in ourselves. My husband was a full participant because he had been through the class with me, and knew all the ways to support me during the weeks leading up to delivery and during labor. We ended up with a beautiful, healthy baby without any pain medication or other interventions. We knew exactly what to expect at each step of the way, and we were able to be calm and actually enjoy the event. All of the nurses at the hospital commented on how remarkably relaxed we were - that was a state of mind and approach that we learned and practiced with Megan! Participating in a Joy Love Birth class was by far the best investment of time or money we've ever made. Childbirth is an event you'll remember forever, and being well-prepared and in control will make all the difference in the world as far as how you look back on it. Not every type of birth class will prepare you to feel like your own body is in control of the delivery, and I'm so grateful that we found one that did.

We both looked forward to class every single week - each lesson offered a gold mine of valuable, applicable information that was passionately delivered by Megan and her husband, Jordan. After each class, my husband and I would talk for hours about what we learned and felt inspired to dive into more research about evidence based birth. I absolutely loved that the incredibly well-informed Megan and her fun, clear, powerful teaching style led my husband to start trying to teach his co-worker buddies all about it! Thanks to her Bradley Class, Eric and I were super united from the beginning and we built so much trust together leading up to the birth. He ended up being an amazing birth partner and we owe much of that to Megan's efforts to train us well! I also really appreciated her help drafting and fine tuning our birth plan - she pays such attention to detail and really tailors her efforts for each student because she CARES. This isn't just a job for her, it's her joy and her mission to help mothers and their partners have the best, most informed pregnancy/birth adventure. We also had the ultimate privilege and blessing of Megan's support as our doula. Having become so motivated to have our choices respected and to have a natural, unmedicated birth, we knew we needed Megan in our ranks. This woman is a powerhouse! Seriously so tireless, endlessly patient and calm, prepared for anything. For nearly 20 hours, Megan provided the absolute best encouragement, love, and strength. I needed her! The hubby was well trained, and I definitely needed him there to hold my hand, sway with me, hold me in the shower, etc., but the comfort of an experienced, knowledgeable, strong and loving female to understand me and what I was going through was irreplaceable. There were times when she was right there kneeling on the floor with me adding essential oils to my shower that brought peace to my body and soul and always had a warm washcloth to keep me from getting cold, times when she squeezed my back and hips to help steady the power rushing through, times where she sweetly and reverently watched over us as my husband did his best to support me. Every minute, she was in tune with the process. Though the labor was a long one, I never doubted our mission because of her presence. She is a truly amazing guardian of the birth experience. My husband and I felt so safe in the hospital setting and at home with her on our team. Also, her ability to build up a wonderful rapport with the medical staff helped create a harmonious and happy setting for the birth. We will treasure the months we had with Megan that led up to the greatest moment of our lives!!! Couldn't have been better! We highly recommend her class and her doula skills to any that are lucky enough to snag her!! PS on top of EVERYTHING else she was doing to help us, she also took some wonderful photos of our labor and delivery!! #MVP
