I'll be brutally honest. I've passed by this karinderya-looking restaurant a number of times, usually to go to more popular restos in the Kapitolyo area. I mean, the whole resto just looked so sad from the outside. Whether we like to admit it or not, we'd like our restaurants to look nice. Simply put, Ser Chef just didn't look like a winner.
Now, having said all that, something about Ser Chef kept nagging at me. Some weird inner-voice thingy telling me to check this place out. At the very least, if it's a bust, it's a cheap bust. So one day I took the chance and dropped by.
As expected, the resto was sad-looking in the inside as well. It just didn't care too much about their interiors. However, a logo on their celebrity photowall caught my attention. It was the logo of Mitzi's. Dear Lord, Mitzi's.
Okay, for those who don't know, Mitzi's is a very, VERY popular food outlet in 168's first foodcourt. It was reasonably cheap and the food was absolutely yummy. Their most popular dish would be their Lechon Macao, as it is well-cooked and such a knockout. With that logo prominently displayed inside their restaurant, did it mean that Mitzi's and Ser Chef were related? As it turns out, Mitzi's and Ser Chef was one and the same!
My goodness, Mitzi's was in Kapitolyo all this time, AND I HAVE BEEN IGNORING IT. I'm so sorry I judged this book by its cover, but I'm going to make amends now.
Of course I ordered the Lechon Macau rice toppings, and it is exactly as I remembered it! Nice, crispy, not too oily, and crunchy down to the last bite. I paired it off with a stick of lobster balls and scallops, and their signature Raspberry tea which was absolutely delicious. All of that for P250. Not a bad bargain at all.
I am so going back. Like running into a long lost friend, we have much to catch up on. read more
