I've never really worn or been into makeup much. If I'm going out somewhere fancy or want to do something to my face, I usually slap on blush and apply it so it's super round on my cheeks, and I look like a clown. Clear or pink lip gloss typically gets applied and disappears within the hour after I eat or drink something, or sometimes I absentmindedly lick it off. Thinking about it, I realized I wanted someone to help me try out makeup and see if I could add new products to my sad-looking bag of makeup that comprises products way too old that should probably never touch my skin again. Looking at the Sephora website, I saw a beauty lesson class and made an appointment at the Sephora near me (this one is in the Ventura Mall). There, I met Jasmin, who took me through a 75-minute lesson. She asked me what I usually did with my face and what I wanted to do with my face. Because I wasn't interested in doing the whole 10 yards of foundation, blush, concealer, eyeliner, mascara, etc, etc, etc, I just asked for something simple I could do when I wanted to dress up. Did you know there are tons of makeup, glossy, matte, etc. There are tons of decisions to make! Jasmin helped me make these decisions, and Jasmin would expertly apply these products to one side of my face. On the other side of my face, I'd shakily tried to replicate what she did with the products I like. I looked like Harvey Dent's two-faced at the end of the lesson (Jasmin's expertly applied makeup on one side of my face vs my Pablo Picasso side). The lesson cost $75 for 75 minutes (gratuity extra), and I didn't feel pressured to buy any of the makeup we used, although I bought some. I highly recommend the lesson, even if you're a beginner to makeup or advanced and want to improve your skills. Jasmin was super patient, professional, and friendly with me. She helped me decide between the thousands of makeup choices they have, so I was only experimenting with makeup I thought looked good and wanted to try. Later that night, I applied my makeup and was pleased with the results.. As my husband said when he saw me dressed up and my makeup face, "Not bad at all." Swoon. read more

I went to Sephora to buy a perfume and went up to the cash register to ask about it. One of the employees, who was wearing a Christmas sweater with candy canes on it, told me in a somewhat blunt way that it was in the cabinet if I wanted the 1.7 ml size (she was on the left counter)I felt a little put off, so I just walked away and continued shopping. Later, when I was ready to check out, I stood in line and listened to how the employees at the counter were speaking to other customers. It seemed like that same tone was being used with everyone. Sephora carries great brands that you can't always find elsewhere hence they're pricier. The store is pricier and classier than Ulta so I was a bit surprised by the overall customer service experience. It wasn't terrible, just not quite what I expected from a store like that. read more

Went to return some items I bought online, I had them for about 10 days. The cashier with blue hair and glasses thought it would be appropriate to treat me like a teenage thief. She had a poor attitude. She opened every single item, including the liquid lipsticks to see if there was product inside. This isn't JUST specifically for this location although I've have several bad encounters here. This is a review for Sephora locations customer service and service. I have a $50 I got for my birthday (this is the only thing I asked for) when I removed it from the packaging a few of the numbers from the card number came off. Everything else is fine, pin, barcode and swiper. I went to 3 locations now to try and use it but they tell me I can not use it bc some of the numbers are off. I even called customer service and they said they can't help me either. Naturally I'm very upset bc every is saying they can't help me. I'm very disappointed!!! So, I have been into your store a few times. The last two times was a joke. Both times I have walked in sales associates huddled together chit chatting no eye contact no help. Ive been into fragrances lately and wanted to purchase my new scents for 2025. I walked into this Sephora around noon yesterday and it was so dirty and unkept. The shelves were incredibly dusty, many of the tester fragrance bottles were broken, cracked, or completely empty. Not one employee offered help throughout my hour in there and I was so bummed. Sephora is one of my favorite stores but I sadly walked out, went over to Macys and bought the three fragrances I really liked. read more

Testers seemed kind of messy. But I noticed they got busy really fast so it seems like all their time is spent helping customers so I understand they are doing their best. What really made our trip was the help we received from Alex the aesthetician, she went above and beyond and gave exceptional customer service, even furthering suggestions and showing us some skincare items. We hadn't even come in for skincare but after some demonstrations and Alex's shared knowledge we ended up purchasing skincare. For many years I always had issues finding the right foundation. When I stop by for a quick look Gabriel the sales employee helped me pick a shade and brand. I seriously thought it was going to be off. Something I always struggle with. Well I took it home and tried it. My face looks flawless. The foundation was light yet it gives me full coverage. I'm 45 years old and trying to look and feel young can be a challenge. I even get compliments of how young I look. Thanks to Gabriel for helping me find the correct product. I come to this Sephora usually for my Buxom lip gloss, which I'm addicted to. I came yesterday afternoon around 2 pm or so, and they seemed really busy. There were lots of staff around, but I couldn't tell if they were helping other customers or not. So I just found one and asked her my questions. Besides my lip gloss I also wanted my Stila mascara. If I don't come in dressed up nicely I get no help and just followed to make sure I don't steal. I'm a VIB and spend more money than I should at Sephora. If I could give zero stars to this Sephora I would. Yesterday I spoke to Heather in person about exchanging something and she said she would leave a note for her team to make sure they exchange the item for me the next day since I didn't have it with me. Today I came and Selina is refusing to exchange the item, even though I spoke to the other lady yesterday. Heather knew the item was over 60 days and she agreed to exchanged it. I spoke to her in person. I would've understand if she said no, but she said yes, so why make me waste my time to come to the store to put up with someone as rude as Selina. The first time I visited a Sephora was 12 yrs ago in Los Angeles, picture a kid in a candy store, I thought I'd dropped into makeup heaven. The clerks at our local store have always been extremely helpful, they enjoy helping you find new and exciting products that you may or may not know about, they were the ones that introduced me to Makeup Forever, best foundation change I ever made. They also introduced me to Benefit Mascara, and they adore the Sephora liquid eyeliner as Much as I do and for $12 who can blame us, right? If I had just one nitpick it would be to lower the music, while I realize the music sets the vibe of young, fresh, and Now... I think a little volume control could go along way. Normally I go to ULTA, but Sephora has brands that aren't available at ULTA and Sephora has a much, much better selection of products. This particular Sephora now has a Instagram (@sephoraventura) so you can know when they'll be having product releases, upcoming classes, stock updates, makeup inspiration, and beauty education. How awesome is that?! Also, offer mini 15 minute makeovers on single-feature looks, mini 15 minute facials (targeted skincare solutions), and free 45-90 minute beauty classes for Beauty Insider members! They also color match you by scanning a few areas on your face/neck instead of applying several foundations which in reality is just a waste of makeup. The computer will then give you your color matches from lots of different brands and then you can test them out to see which foundation best suits your needs. read more

Love this store! The only thing they lack for me is MAC makeup and my two favorite fragrances: 1. Angel by Thierry Mugler 2. Alien by Thierry Mugler But aside from that, they have an array of products by some of the finest lines of makeup. Their skin product section is off the hook awesome! My personal favorite is the Caudalie line with the Grape Seed Extract. It keeps your skin fresh and young. The Sephora store is located in the Pacific View Mall. Very poor service the last few times I've been in the store. My last experience, I went in to complete a return and the staff was not friendly or helpful. There were two reps at the counter helping other guests, which is fine. The store was not busy, and I was next in line. I was not greeted when I walked in, none of the staff at the register acknowledged me either, which again is fine. The issue was that once one of the reps was finished with their guest, they turned around grabbed items they saved for themselves and asked another Sephora rep to ring them up. Whilst all this was happening, none of the employees said a word to me, just ignored me. Then third Sephora rep finished the purchase for the first rep and they both left!!! I was still standing in line holding my items. Finally, the other rep finished with their customer and still did not say anything to me. I made my return and quickly left, but it was so strange the way the employees just ignore customers now. There's no Customer Service or people skills nowadays. Tragic! read more

I came in to buy foundation. I also ended up buying a Fenty MVP eyebrow pencil. It was really good, but, it only lasted 10 uses. WTH?? It was about 17.00, so 1.70 per use!?!? Such a ripoff. Very disappointed about its quantity. On the flip side, the cashier gave me a sample of a lip sleeping mask by LANEIGE. It's amazing, my husband even commented on how soft my lips are lately. I was very disappointed with the employees in this store. I walked in hoping to get some help finding my correct shade in a new foundation as well as a few other products I was hoping to buy in store rather than online. However upon walking in the store I was not greeted by a single employee and when I asked for assistance, the employee asked me to find someone on the floor as she was busy working on something. Out of the 5 employees in the store this morning, not a single one approached me or even offered their assistance. They were more consumed with their personal conversations than trying to assist a customer. I notice that some of the employees here help the women that look older or girls my age that have makeup on. Because of those experiences here, I don't go to this particular store. The Sephora in JCP has employees that actually greet you and try their best to answer your concerns. This store should get a good lesson on customer service and not judging a book by its cover.
