The Refill Shoppe is such a fabulous little gem in Ventura! From the moment you walk through the…read moredoor, you're greeted by the most delightful smells and beautiful, thoughtfully arranged displays. It's the kind of shop that immediately makes you want to slow down, browse, and take everything in. The staff is incredibly friendly, welcoming, and genuinely helpful, which makes the entire experience even better. There are so many wonderful products to discover, and the whole shop has such a charming and inviting feel. If you're in Ventura, The Refill Shoppe is definitely worth a visit. Such a lovely local business and a place I'll happily visit again!

I noticed that the shop moved out of downtown Main Street and moved to Mid-town. The new address is 1727 E Main St. 93001. I was running low on my shampoo bar and conditioner but decided to go back to liquid; and what better way than to not waste plastic bottles of product each year by doing the refill method. I walked into the shop today and was greeted by Orianna. She was extremely helpful. I had told her it was my first visit and that I didn't have bottles of my own. She guided me to the bottles and explained how it works. I chose my bottles and then chose my scent which was Vanilla and Lavender. I also bought a linen spray that was matched to my current laundry scent of Lavender & Bergamot. I also got a face soap bar that I like to keep in the shower to wash my face at the end of the work day. I love how you can customize your favorite scents and I look forward to exploring more scents in the future. I feel the prices are very reasonable. They have a ton of products available besides shampoo and conditioner. There were other beauty products and laundry care items too. Definitely a must check out!

I've never really worn or been into makeup much. If I'm going out somewhere fancy or want to do…read moresomething to my face, I usually slap on blush and apply it so it's super round on my cheeks, and I look like a clown. Clear or pink lip gloss typically gets applied and disappears within the hour after I eat or drink something, or sometimes I absentmindedly lick it off. Thinking about it, I realized I wanted someone to help me try out makeup and see if I could add new products to my sad-looking bag of makeup that comprises products way too old that should probably never touch my skin again. Looking at the Sephora website, I saw a beauty lesson class and made an appointment at the Sephora near me (this one is in the Ventura Mall). There, I met Jasmin, who took me through a 75-minute lesson. She asked me what I usually did with my face and what I wanted to do with my face. Because I wasn't interested in doing the whole 10 yards of foundation, blush, concealer, eyeliner, mascara, etc, etc, etc, I just asked for something simple I could do when I wanted to dress up. Did you know there are tons of makeup, glossy, matte, etc. There are tons of decisions to make! Jasmin helped me make these decisions, and Jasmin would expertly apply these products to one side of my face. On the other side of my face, I'd shakily tried to replicate what she did with the products I like. I looked like Harvey Dent's two-faced at the end of the lesson (Jasmin's expertly applied makeup on one side of my face vs my Pablo Picasso side). The lesson cost $75 for 75 minutes (gratuity extra), and I didn't feel pressured to buy any of the makeup we used, although I bought some. I highly recommend the lesson, even if you're a beginner to makeup or advanced and want to improve your skills. Jasmin was super patient, professional, and friendly with me. She helped me decide between the thousands of makeup choices they have, so I was only experimenting with makeup I thought looked good and wanted to try. Later that night, I applied my makeup and was pleased with the results.. As my husband said when he saw me dressed up and my makeup face, "Not bad at all." Swoon.

I went to Sephora to buy a perfume and went up to the cash register to ask about it. One of the…read moreemployees, who was wearing a Christmas sweater with candy canes on it, told me in a somewhat blunt way that it was in the cabinet if I wanted the 1.7 ml size (she was on the left counter)I felt a little put off, so I just walked away and continued shopping. Later, when I was ready to check out, I stood in line and listened to how the employees at the counter were speaking to other customers. It seemed like that same tone was being used with everyone. Sephora carries great brands that you can't always find elsewhere hence they're pricier. The store is pricier and classier than Ulta so I was a bit surprised by the overall customer service experience. It wasn't terrible, just not quite what I expected from a store like that.

Worked here for 6 months or so during my early college years and the prices are awesome! The prices…read moreare so awesome that some customers actually think the fragrances are fake! I'm sure if they were, the company would be in huge trouble! ha! This store sells some perfumes that are not boxed, and it's a lot cheaper - yes, you're paying extra $$ for that box that ends up in the trash! If it's not a gift, it's worth getting the unboxed fragrance. This store has the "hard to find" fragrances, like fragrances they discontinue. Looking for that favorite perfume and can't find it anywhere? Go to this store, you might just be lucky... you can even ask to order it and you will be contacted once your order has arrived. :) There are locations in a few outlets such as the Cabazon outlet or the Ontario Mills, that's called "The Fragrance Outlet". :)

I've been hunting for one after doing my research on whether to get the Mia 1 (retail price $99) or the Mia 2 (retail price $149) but it really came down when they only had one Mia 2 left in the limited edition Bordeaux color :D They had the Mia only in a pale yellow (kinda ugly color) for $75 and the Mia 2 in a blue color for $120. Difference between the two is the travel case and the 2 speed options in the Mia 2 where the Mia original lacks them. Pretty good deals if you ask me. I also saw they a limited collection of Urban Decay makeup on sale (which I have been looking into getting the Lip Junkie lip gloss) in Flushed for $5. They also had some bronzers and eyeshadows but didn't do my research for those lol Overall, I'm definitely planning to return to purchase the Mia 2 replacement brush heads and possibly more makeup. It's a small store but they got all the good stuff :D

I was looking for a perfume I used to use in my 20's People in stores would follow me around and…read moresay I smelled so good. I had just bought Dior not long ago but no one liked it on me. So I thought about the one that mixed well with my skin only they don't make it anymore. So I told all this information to Genesis R. She is like a perfume expert. She looked up all the different ingredients in my favorite perfume and asked me if it was flowery the smell and I said yes. She then got a paper and sprayed some cologne on it and that was it. It smelled really good on me and had all the ingredients as my last one did. She had me out of there in 10 minutes and had also taken a phone call helping someone at the same time. She reminded me of that Christmas movie with Marla Maples and Mimi Roger's called The Christmas List. In the movie Mimi can tell which perfume is what simply by the smell. Genesis was wonderful and they have a free club you can sign up for to get additional savings on future products. The store was immaculate and fully stocked. It's part of the Camarillo Outlet stores. If you want a cologne that will make you smell so good go here! Genesis will fix you up and you will leave with a smile on your face.

You were absolutely wonderful in helping me pick out the perfect fragrance for my husband and I. I'm not a fan of shopping and I was thrilled to be in and out in such record time. One Star - Dishonest Return Policy and Terrible Customer Service…read more I rarely leave reviews, but I feel obligated to warn others. I purchased a fragrance from this store as a gift, but tried to return because it wasn't the cologne that I needed. When I tried to return it within the timeframe stated in their return policy, they flat-out refused, offering a string of excuses that made zero sense. Their return policy is clearly just for show. The staff was dismissive. If you care about customer service, honesty, or even just getting what you paid for, avoid this place. There are plenty of reputable fragrance retailers out there--this just isn't one of them. After claiming they only do exchanges, I pushed for a gift card at the least, and they had to call someone over the phone to do that. Will not be returning.
