As someone visiting from out of town, I immediately got the sense that I wasn't particularly welcome. The staff were cold, disengaged, and made no effort to be friendly or helpful. It was hard not to feel like an outsider. What was most disappointing is that even after making a fairly sizable purchase, I didn't receive so much as a "thank you." No smile, no acknowledgment--just silence as I walked out the door. It's unfortunate, because the space and product selection are great. But a store's energy is shaped by the people who work there, and in this case, it really took away from the experience. Hopefully, the staff can work on being more open and kind to all customers, not just locals. My visit was the week of 6/19/2025. Do better ladies.

Shoppers BEWARE…read more Yesterday I purchased what I believed was a genuine black leather purse from this shop (along with other items). The purse was tagged and sold as leather for $300+. When I got home, I discovered it's actually vegan leather. Even worse, after wearing it briefly, I developed an allergic reaction around my neck. My skin is very sensitive to synthetic materials. I called the store the following day and they admitted the bag was vegan leather--but refused to offer a refund or any solution, citing a "final sale on accessories" policy. This is misleading marketing and false advertising. Charging leather prices for non-leather goods, then hiding behind a final-sale policy, is unacceptable. Do not shop here or if you do please double-check everything before you buy. I would not trust their labeling or policies again.

Ojai Ave. It's the kind of place that instantly feels welcoming--you're always greeted with a smile, and even if you don't find something that day, the browsing itself feels like a small joy. That said, I always seem to find something! I still wear a cozy sweater I picked up there last year, and on my last visit, I found a pair of earrings that I absolutely love. The prices are reasonable and the items are in great condition. Since they're a consignment shop, they do accept items for resale--you get a percentage back when your item sells. If you're thinking about bringing something in, it's best to call ahead to check their process and which days they're accepting items. One more reason to love The Lennon Closet? A percentage of their sales goes toward Traumatic Brain Injury charities, making every treasure you find there even more meaningful. It's a win-win--shopping with joy, supporting a great cause, and finding pieces that feel like they were meant just for you.
