Was in your store today shopping and browsing ... had my mask on but pulled it down long enough to try some lip gloss I had applied to my hand (because samples are available again), just as I would do if I was eating in a restaurant ... and an associate approached me to inform me that my mask must cover my face during the entire time I'm in the store and that I may ONLY try samples that I would normally put anywhere but my mouth. And when I asked how I would try the available samples of lip products, she snatched the lipstick in front of me and drew on her hand and then looked at me with the snarkiest expression I have ever seen. Unfortunately, there was no signage to inform me of the specifics of mask wearing, nor did your door greeter explain this to me as I walked in, so if your lip samples are out, but no one can pull their mask down long enough to see what it looks like, you might as well tape those fuckers back up. She basically shamed me in front of the public and there were so many other ways to approach me that would not be resulting in this complaint. I get the world is strange right now, but deliverance is key, and she was beyond rude. read more

This is a nice Sephora. There have a wide selection of cosmetics and the employees are (usually) very helpful. Employees will match your foundation color, or do a quick They don't even mind if you help yourself to some samples. It is conveniently located and has good hours. They are GREAT with returns. If your product is the wrong color, breaks, simply not what you wanted, they will accept it no problem. They have always been very accommodating in finding a replacement product, or giving my money back. No judgement or side-eyes. Minus 1/2 star for the occasional unfriendly employee, minus 1/2 star for products often sold out. **Note: if you want to schedule a make-up application, be sure to do so 1-2 weeks in advance! Had a great experience until today. One of the cashier calls the next person in line (me). I go, then she picks up the phone and I'm standing in front of her. She doesn't say anything. Then another cashier calls a person next (thinking I'm already been helped) which was fine. Then the cashier on the phone calls another person in line and I'm standing in front of her giving her the death stare. Other cashier notices and says "I'm sorry I thought you were being helped." Came in and bought several things from Kim. She was amazing!!!! One item i wanted to wait on though was a highlighter from becca, I believe the name was. Kim was soo polite and understood i would be back later that day, just so i can see how it looks throughout that day. Annoying part, came in and i believe "becky", is her name, supposedly a manager?, tall, round lady with brown hair , Any ways, i showed her my highlighter kim put on me and wanted a dash of more highlighter, and something more that can pop. She was rude to me, and even did a finger wave to me, saying that i dont know what im talking about and she walked over and showed me the nars pallete and put a swipe on her hand, i was not asking to do my whole face i already had some on. This Sephora is only one of the few that I've gone into and the staff is stuck up and rude. What I don't understand is why? Why be in an industry where customer service is required yet you look like you hate your job. Whether I walk in all glammed up or in my gym clothes, they never seem to want to help. I literally have to hunt someone down just to ask if they have something in stock. The lady in the skin care department with a short pixie cut always says the same thing, it's almost like it's scripted. It's been 4 separate occasions that I've gone in there asking for the Boscia peel black mask and she said they were out of stock even on the website but she recommended a clay cleanser instead but I decided I'd come back in a week or so. I go back and she tells me the same act same thing. So I went online and they actually did have it in stock. The last 2 times I went I wanted to see if she would say the same things and she did. I just can't believe she didn't recognize me. My husband wanted to surprise me with an entire new make up set so he went into this store and asked if they had a big make up case (like a caboodle) but he's a man, he doesn't know any better lol. The woman just told him "no sorry we don't have those here". He said okay and went into the JCPenney Sephora and he asked them the same thing and the lady there actually helped him pick out make up so that I had everything from primer, bronzer highlighter pallets, eye shadow palettes, lip sticks, eye brows pencil and he asked them he also wanted brushes and they helped him pick that out to. read more

I usually don't post negative reviews but this one I have time for .... every single time I walk into this Sephora no one EVER Helps me. I'm like I have money to pay with what's the problem?? I always find things on my own and when I got to the register they always ask "Did anyone help you ?" I always say NO. I stood around for 20 min without anyone acknowledging me or greeting me. I started to feel like I was being discriminated against. I never go in there or shop there. I just go to Ulta where everyone is friendly and willing to help. read more

Now that there are 2 Sephora's in the mall it's makes for a nicer shopping experience at the Sephora establishment. For what one lacks the other makes up for and vice versa. If they are out of stock of a certain product I'm looking to purchase you can usually always guarantee the other one will have it. As for customer service it's hit and miss. The original Sephora you usually have to ask for help to get it otherwise if you stand there and wait for someone to ask if you need it you could wait all day. But majority of the time when I do ask them something they aren't rude and are thorough in assisting me. And at the JC Penney Sephora almost every girl working there on the floor will ask you if you need help with anything at least a couple times, but it seems forced and like they hate their job. Actually I feel like they think I'm a shoplifter or something because they tend to be up my ass more then what feels just like your normal overly attentive employee/sales rep. And also once you do ask them for help none of them have been friendly towards me and act like and have a look on their face like I pissed in their corn flakes. But actually I find it annoying and more bothersome when employees are too attentive when I'm just browsing or when I know what I'm there to grab. So I don't have any complaints when they don't ask me if I need any help because if I need it I will initiate it and ask someone specifically whatever it may be I need help with. Otherwise I'm generally pretty comfortable and knowledgable with makeup and know what I like and what works for me individually so unless I have a specific question about something then I'm ok with handling my shopping experience there. Like I said dealing with their employees anyways are about a 50%/50% of getting a employee who is PMSing or who has an appropriate attitude towards you. But other than that if your a beauty junkie like me then there is no not loving this place. Don't let bitchy employees ruin your experience here. I come for the amazing staple brands and products that I love. Dont get me wrong I love my drugstore brands and products too. But who doesn't like and deserve to treat themselves to some real quality shit ya know?And I just love coming here and discovering new things when they come out or that are just new to me. You could spend hours here and spend all the money in your wallet while there. I know I have! And I know that may sound slightly ridiculous to some but I'm not ashamed to say it. Short version: Highly disappointed with the customer service here. The store itself, as in the selection of products is EXCELLENT. Customer service on the other hand is a laugh and a half! Majority of the employees had attitudes, and appeared to be bothered with having to assist customers and let it be known. Long Version: Went in with my mom over the weekend and out of the many employees there only ONE was pleasant. The rest walked around looking as if the customers they were helping were a burden. I went in looking for Ka-Brow and for a good primer and my mom was looking to get help with finding a concealer. I admittedly don't know much about makeup so all I knew was I wanted a better primer than the one I've been using. The woman that helped me with the primer was fantastic! helped me find one that fits exactly what it is I was looking for. I forgot to ask her where I could find the Ka-Brow. Again, I don't know much about name brand makeup and what not, so I asked the nearest employee who wasn't helping anyone if she could help and direct me to where I can find Ka-Brow. She scoffed and said in a condescending tone "don't you mean the Benefit products?!" So I responded " Well .. Not exactly sure, but I suppose if Ka-Brow is a benefit product then yes." She ROLLED HER EYES and pointed saying "All the benefit products are in that corner". I found my Ka-Brow and it was my mom's turn to look for what she wanted. Again, there is a HUGE selection so for someone who doesn't quite know all these brands and what not, it's a little intimidating in terms of even knowing where to start looking. Just so happens one of the employees was helping someone else near by with concealers and helped a woman put some on. My mom seeing how well it worked for her asked another employee for help. She says excuse me to an employee and the employee turns around as if my mom had bothered her and rudely says "YYESSS???" So my mom tells her "I just saw another employee showing a concealer from this rack to a customer and I was wondering if you could help me pick out a concealer, I need something for---" the employee cuts off my mom and says "What?! What are you talking about?! I don't even know what you're talking about!" Uummm I'm sorry, but my mom was asking a simple question of the employee, if she can help her find a concealer suitable for her. I can ALMOST understand an employee taking the tone that she did with my mom had my mom been obnoxious and what not, but NO .. she just asked a simple question. If the employee didn't know what she was talking about then she should have asked for clarification in a much different tone. Again.. HIGHLY disappointed with the customer service!! We were going into this store KNOWING we were gonna be paying a pretty penny for any of the products we found in this store and to get such horrible customer service from majority of the employees here makes me not want to come into this store again. I'd rather order this stuff online from a temperamental computer than having to deal with the poor attitudes in this store. read more

I was at the checkout with no one Infront of me and two girls were standing at the register talking. They saw me, one of them asked the other if she had clocked in yet she said no. I purchased one item, Lemonade by Benefit on 12/19/14. On Friday I received an e-mail asking me to review the items I had purchased, HOLD ON, "ITEMS"?! I only purchased ONE item. Apparently my Beauty Insider was open and the second transaction was for a "Tria" hair remover for $299.00, which I definitely did not purchase! The kicker here is that whole 299 points were added to my Beauty Insider account and whomever made this transaction redeemed 500 points, thereby taking 201 of MY points!! I know it's not physical money, but they took a major chunk out of my hard earned points that I can use for other promotions and products!! I called Sephora and my Beauty Insider points were reinstated as a "One Time Courtesy". I don't want just a "One Time Courtesy", I want the cashier to stop stealing customer's Beauty Insider points. I recently went in to the Sephora in Ventura and I just have to put it in print that the last two times I came into this specific store was great!! I was helped by Star who help me find my shade in foundation. She was very friendly and patient with me. When I was looking around Gabriel ask me if I needed help and when I told him I did she got someone to help me. He was so attentive, friendly and welcoming. Even when I checked out Gabriel asked me if I found everything I needed with a great smile. When I was leaving another associate thanked me for coming. I told her that it was one of the most positive Sephora visits I had ever had. I live in Santa Barbara and I don't like visiting Santa Barbara Sephora, they are not friendly, when asking for help they act it seems like it bothers them. I know my stuff inside and out when it comes to all things makeup and skincare. I never ask for assistance unless there is a product I'm looking for that isn't on the floor, or if I need to get shade matched (which is something I only do every 2-3 years on average because most of the time, I don't need any help with that sort of thing). Anyhoo, Sammie was a complete doll. She was very knowledgeable, didn't try to upsell me on unnecessary products, and really listened to me. I used to really enjoy going here, but it seems like they have gone downhill a bit. Yesterday, I purchased an item (CC Cream) and there was a sign next to the CC Cream advertising free products with purchase. There were no more freebie boxes next to the CC Cream, so, I asked the cashier if any were left. She said, "I haven't seen them in awhile, I think we're stopping that." She then did contact someone over her smock mic, and ask if there were any more in the back. Then she started checking me out, including the CC Cream I just handed her (to ask about the freebies; she did not ask if I still wanted it if there were no freebie boxes left). After she had finished and I paid, I had to ask her if there were anymore freebies in the back, as she never told me. She just said, "no." I did not get an apology, no offer of a different freebie; I never even got my 3 free samples as I usually would! There were also not many picks left of the 500 point freebies (so I didn't get any) and in general, the cashier seemed uninterested in me or my purchases (I spent about $175!) She wasn't RUDE, but she wasn't nice either. She didn't ask me any questions, ask if I needed anything else, nothing. When I walked in, an employee on the floor (not the same person as the cashier) asked me if I wanted a basket to carry my items, but offered no help other than that. Lastly, when I was in line, there was a much younger girl than myself (I'm 42) that had got a makeover, and they were gushing over her. They definitely treated her differently and with more enthusiasm. I have been enjoying ULTA, and will probably just go there now. read more

The customer service at this Sephora is terrible. I was going to a wedding in the afternoon, so I made a hair appointment at JCPenney and a makeup appointment at Sephora months in advance. My hair appointment was running a few minutes behind, so I tried to call Sephora to let them know and no one answered the phone. I finally finished my hair and ran over to Sephora just 10 minutes late and they turned me away because they already took a walk-in in my place. They said they have a 10-minute waiting window before they take walk-ins, but I then went to the Sephora in the JCPenney who informed me that the waiting period is actually 15 minutes and I was lied to. There is zero excuse for not answering the phone when customers call, and they made no attempt to contact me despite having all of my information and despite the fact that I made the appointment months in advance. I ended up BEGGING the wonderful women at the bareMinerals counter in Macy's to do my makeup, because otherwise the whole ordeal would have eaten up all my time and I would've had to go to the wedding makeup-less. read more

I came to sephora to grab my foundation and like any other girl can understand, I have to look and swatch other products. The girls kept looking at me, whispering in their headsets, and following me, not asking once if I needed help. I can feel them staring at me like meerkats with falsies. I used to work in retail and whispering in your headset in front of customers was a big NO. I know that I might look like a mess after a 10 hour shift but c'mon! I couldn't stand to be there a minute more so I literally dropped the foundation at a random spot. I'll never go back. I've heard soooo many complaints on this store. It might not matter to the employees if they lose customers but without us you wouldn't have a job, and if you don't like your job all you have to do is quit. No one is holding you against your will. I wish I knew who helped me with my eyebrows but ugh she deserves a medal or a raise. I recently bought the Urban Decay All Nighter foundation and it didn't work well with my skin. I brought it in and had no problem returning it with a full refund. When I asked about finding a comparable BB cream to my current one, I was directed to the wonderful skin care expert, Lauren. She was amazing and so helpful with figuring out which one to go with. She gave me a free sample of the BB cream I liked best (after letting me try multiple) so I didn't have to go through another return process if it didn't work.
