I don't understand the bad reviews on customer service. I was living near Santee for a year and change and this was my go to Sephora. Every single time I came here the customer service was 10/10. Girls always had positive attitude. Fast service. They walk you to the right place to find the products you need. I would come in and out in 10 minutes. Short lines were also a plus. I recently moved to Eastlake and my go to is sephora on Birch and the lines are so long and slow and no more nice workers showing me where products are. read more

I went in to quickly grab some make up, was given "the rules" upon entering. If you can't even touch the testers to read or compare colors maybe don't have them out. I picked up 2 colors to look at side by side and was scolded like a child. I was told to ask permission to touch the samples because now they have to clean them. God forbid they do their jobs. I ended up buying something, but wish I would have brought my business elsewhere. I'm not sure how they make anything when they treat their customers like children. I won't be going back. read more

The makeup reps of this place are a lot nicer than the ones I've visited at JCPenney's, they are very helpful and accommodating. I had one actually help me within less than a minute of stepping into the store. She actually really listen to my needs and suggested makeup that would be a good fit for me. I didn't feel rushed and didn't feel like they were half ass listening to me like at other Sephoras. I had to exchange eyeliner and the wrong lipstick that another person from another Sephora suggested - of course she was in a rush. The exchange process was a breeze. I understand they were about to close but it was still not a lot of staff to help everyone. Second I asked for a certain perfume and the lady said it's in the back. She grabbed it from the back and put it up in the front. When I paid I was a little confused why it was cheaper than the lady said it was when she helped me out. When I got home I realized she gave me the toilette version when I asked for the perfum one. Now I have to go out of my way to return it and get the correct one. Hopefully it's in stock. read more

Sephora is my go to beauty stop. I specifically go to the santee location because it is closest to me. I have never had a bad experience here. The staff is friendly and helpful but not overly assistive. I usually find everything that I need in stock. I usually do most of my sephora shopping online however when I need something right away this store is my go to. read more

I have never been to Sephora, only Ulta but Sephora has a specific product I like. I know it was after work and I was looking rough but not one employee acknowledged my presence. The only one who seemed to notice me was the security guard who popped up where I was every other minute. I won't read into that because the place is small but if anyone at all had showed an ounce of customer service, I would've likely looked around more and spent more. I decided to get out quick after getting my stuff to get the discomfort over with. Unless I'm getting those two products, I'll pass on going back. She refused to try a shade of makeup on me, stating they only offer appointments now. This exact location gets 1/5 stars. I was so eagerly excited for a Sephora location that's more local than others, unfortunately their employees are all equally rude, unprofessional, and lack customer service skills. I try my best to avoid this location because of how crappy they make you feel once you step a foot inside that store. I've had a few instances but I'll share 2. I went there straight after work in my work clothes with my miniature backpack that is like a purse to grab something quick. As soon as I walked in, I noticed the front door girl grab her little radio and give a description of what I'm wearing and where I'm walking to and then someone approached me to ask if i need help. Im sorry that my work clothes and mini backpack are not up to your standards. You have no idea how that made me feel! I was so disappointed and upset over that behavior. Another instance is a cashier was so shocked to see that I had several items to return-all sealed and unused ordered online. She said "all of them?" With a facial expression. Well obviously all of them if they're all sitting on your counter with a reciept. I didn't even get a thank you or have a nice day or are you ready to get ringed up or even a fake smile!! I've worked customer service so I'm familiar with what I'm saying. All in all, all the employees never smile, greet you when you walk in not to greet you but judge and inspect who's in and out (at least how they make it feel like), and it takes forever to get assistance when you ask. DO NOT GO TO THIS SEPHORA! I scheduled an appointment to have my makeup done for my baby shower on Saturday and was VERY disappointed! First off, I scheduled my appointment for 10:00 am and I made it clear on the phone I needed to be done by 11:00. They didn't even open their doors until 10:05 and the girl was in the "bathroom" for about 10 minutes. She finally came out and finished my makeup in about 30 minutes (note: I am paying for an hour session $50) and I thought to myself, i probably could of done it better on my own. My eyebrows looked like a child had drawn them on. Second, as I was looking for my $50 in products, I asked if someone could try the bare minerals makeup on my neck to color match me. I specifically told her not to put it on my face, and what does she do? Puts it right onto my freshly done makeup, RUINING IT! I was VERY upset, and told her she just ruined my makeup that I am paying for. She smiled and said oh I'm sorry and continues to talk about the product! TOTAL AIRHEAD!! I angrily went over to the makeup counter and explained what happened, and another girl had to fix it. Well I finally got out of there and to my shower. My makeup lasted maybe 3 hours at most which was disappointing, and my skin felt irritated. Next morning I woke up with a terrible rash on my face! I don't know what they used, but I am VERY DISAPPOINTED! COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME! If your going there for the products then go for it, but if your going there for a makeover or good customer service this is NOT the Sephora to go to!! I like to start with 5 stars and then just go with it. This Sephora store is very nice, well set up with a good flow and a nice assortment of the brands that Sephora carries. Was happy with parking outside the store also. But I came close to asking to speak to a manager. I went into the store with no makeup on, being that I was there to look for new foundation...I thought why not come in with a clean slate. And the store is in Santee....not Irvine or Malibu. No reason to get dressed up, but I did not look like a homeless person either. Pretty much ignored and approached only when I had something in my hand that maybe they thought I could easily slip into my purse. Went to the cashier to check out, I had over $150 of product in my purchase, she barely asked me if I was an Insider... Which I am. VIB rouge, for anyone who knows that program. I was told to stand outside on the x while they told me the rules. When I go inside there is always a person that tells me, "Do you need help finding anything." I always say no because I go to this store often, but I'm not coming to this store anymore because every time I go into the store the employees think THEY'RE BETTER THAN YOU and they think they are ALL THAT...but they aren't!!! Its like employees you only get payed like $13 dollars an hour. Some employees are nice, most that work there are not nice at all. And some of them give you eyerolls when you talk to them. Let me start of by saying this is one of the best Sephora I have been to and was very happy after a call to sephora. I have received two free makeovers in sept 2019 that stated it expired in Dec 2020 which I was very excited for. Once the new year came I check my Sephora app to only find out it was removed from my account , after calling Sephora I let them know that it stated 1- it expired in 2020 and 2- it stated clearly in there website any 2019 birthday choice will be honored in 2020. After the lady I was speaking to over the phone thought I was crazy I was contemplating about getting this service done. I'm glad I did. Leanna did an awesome job And was able to manually color match my foundation (which I purchased) and she was able to do a simple yet classy look. Everyone was so nice and there is a lot of staff. It is very clean and not too packed like other Sephora stores. Kudos to the Santee Sephora you guys make the company proud. read more

I am not a huge Sephora fan- the stores are always crowded, it's impossible to get help & the displays are a mess. I only go to the store when I run out of something & don't want to wait for it to be delivered. My daughter wanted to check out the Santee store and I was pleasantly surprised! The store was clean, the displays didn't look like someone ran their fingers through the different pallets. We were greeted at the door & again as we walked through the store. Everyone seemed really nice, the person helping us with hair products didn't know much about Drybar so she asked a co worker to assist us. It won't be long before people realize this store is a gem! You don't have to search for parking, walk around the mall or go to JC Penny, this Sephora has the best of both worlds- great products & it feels like a boutique store. read more

I am new to this area and had my engagement photos last Sunday. Decided to book a Makeup Deluxe: The full face makeover at Sephora. I am very basic when it comes to daily makeup application. When I arrived my makeup artist, Krystin, went right into asking me all the necessary questions for my skin type and what I usually wear. She was AMAZING. So professional and full of compliments. The only reason I ever go to this Sephora is for the convenience of how close it is. Their customer service could use some help. I walked by not realizing it was Saturday and they closed earlier, it was 7:55pm and I opened the door and was told "we closed at 8, sorry" okay, sure, but it wasn't even 8 yet and your door is unlocked. I get it, nobody likes a last minute customer but would it have killed them to actually close ON TIME and let me run in and grab the one item I needed quickly? I work in a type of retail and it's frowned upon if we close even a minute early. Maybe that's just me, but I don't think I'll return to this particular store unless I'm in desperate need of something. Even then, I'll probably head to the parkway plaza one where they at least interact with customers. read more

I know nothing about makeup, and I walked into this store with a confused look on my face and a picture in my hand of what kind of look I wanted... I was SO surprised how fast the artist was able to help me find everything I needed!!! I'm not picky and she was amazing. The products are perfect for me! I went home and did my makeup with what she recommended and I have never been so happy! Went to Sephora with a gift card. Stood outside on my X and watched while they drilled each person with questions about covid and then again about not touching testers and asking for assistance and on and on.... Couldn't stay that long to watch the show so I left and came back another day.....Next time I came, I was the only one in line. YES! Walked up to the lady under the tent and she quickly put up her hands to stop me and said, please keep your 6 ft distance!! I wasn't even that close to her. She gave me the whole spill on covid and how to shop. Then she spoke in her earphones to the person inside the door, I guess that I was cleared to enter. They all had earphones communicating with one another. The guy inside welcomed me asked me if I needed help and also reminded me of not touching samples, and so did the lady in aisle two and three and so on. The guy was watching me like a hawk! I couldn't browse in the store and I felt on edge. It was one of the worst shopping experiences I've ever had! Needed to use my gift card. Never go back!! This Sephora is a hidden gem. It's brand new and you can tell. It is always clean, it is never busy and best of all the people that work there are amazing! I have been in multiple times and everyone that works there are always ready to help with any questions I might have. This is probably the best Sephora I have been in. Normally when I walk into any of them I'm ignored and have to avidly seek out a person for help. This one I walked in and was greeted right away and handed a basket. I came in looking for a gift for my sister in law, I was approached by Leanna she asked me if I was finding everything ok. I told her I was here shopping for my sister in law and needed a blinding highlighter she walked me around and showed me some of the most blinding highlights I've ever seen. I also told her that my spouse was in need of some kind of lip treatment because this winter has been brutal on his lips. She walked us over and recommended a product that she said she personally uses and loves. She was super friendly and knowledgeable. She made sure we found what we needed and never once tried to upsell or pressure us into anything. I wish all Sephora workers were like her!
