Such an uncomfortable feeling I had in this store. and will probably never return. The store isn't that big, yet I was asked by 4 different employees if I needed help or are you still doing ok? They have devices in their ear so I know they are speaking to each other, after passing me one of the employees answered whoever was on the other end "I know" , then proceeds to ask me AGAIN if I was still doing ok. This is my go to makeup shop when I'm in Kapolei & need to get some makeup. Whenever I need a new foundation, I am fortunate to have staff member Julie assist me, as she is very knowledgeable about the various makeup lines they carry ( which is a lot) & she always color matches me!, to where it's on point. She really takes her time to be sure that the colors are correct & the right texture /coverage for your skin type. She is passionate about skin care & makeup. The Kapolei store is always clean , and they absolutely have the best lighting for color matching & it's always well stocked. Customer service needs to be improved by some of the workers. First staff approached me asked me if I needed help. I did but I was actually still browsing. I asked if they had the Estée Lauder foundation and he said they didn't have it. Like the way he made like they don't carry it no more. He didn't recommend to or say anything about other locations having it .he directly said this store don't have it.after I asked him if he means they don't carry it anymore. Then he was like this store we just don't have it. I just didn't feel welcomed at this location. He was a heavy set male with a little bit of curly hair /brown skin.it was like if he was rolling his eyes too. Then I said ok thank you and just walked around and just browsed again. This female I think her name is Angelica she approached me and asked if I was doing ok and I told her yes. I actually asked her if I can do a match foundation on looking at the hous labs foundation for my skin type. She suggest I do try the hour glass tint.since I didn't really want to much coverage. Well she did tell me someone will do a match foundation on me and come to find out it's this guy again.i think he felt like I didn't want him to help me.but then again in the first place his customer service made me feel unwelcomed like no smile no conversations or suggestions on anything. Just made me feel awkward already. So he did match me with the color for my skin tone and I asked if I could just get samples and I would try it at home because I just felt it being weird already. I tried following him while he was moving around in the store to get samples ready but it was just weird for me because I kept losing him in the store like if he didn't want me to follow him and he did not communicate with me like if I was suppose to follow him or wait here and he will be back or like just browse around or I'll be back. I even tried to conversate with him like " oh this is how you guys find the right shade for people now? Which they do it on the phone and take pictures of your skin tone. Before they would just do it by picking which one is close to your skin type and trying it on . But anyways he didn't want to talk I guess.because all he did was nod his head. Well after I got the samples I stood in line to purchase the Laura mercier blur powder. Which I did ask another female staff in front what's the difference from the other one she said that the blur one is really good and it's her fav compared to the other one its the same but an older version.she was ok she suggested something for me and gave details on a product. She was a little bit of an older female. Ok well I stood in line to purchase my item and there is that female that suggested I try hourglass tint I guess she couldn't help me in the first place because she was doing the register. She was super friendly and had good customer service I hope that was her name Angelica or Angelina she looks like shes filipino fair skin . She was very nice she asked all my questions .she even checked for me which Sephora that was close to me that actually had the estee lauder foundation . She suggested a lot of good things. Before I walked away to leave I told her she had very good customer service.she made me feel welcomed and helped me a lot on suggesting on makeup products .if she was the one who matched my foundation and not make me go back to the other guy who made me feel awkward.I probably would have just tried out the samples there and just bought the one I liked. The beauty consultants are knowledgeable and very friendly. There are so many products.... Everything you can imagine for every skin type. Today we went to look for a good, but not complicated skin care for beginners. AJ offered assistance and we explained what we were looking for and she knew exactly what to show us. The price was very reasonable and an easy regimen to follow. I like that AJ took her time and listened to what we needed and made a great suggestion. My recent visit about a week ago, I went in to check out specific items. During "covid times" its become a bit harder to shop in store. There's good things like limited customers browsing, sanitizing, and social distancing floor markers. But then there's the things that you're not used to, like no samples and shelves looking bare and not knowing what looks like what. I had in mind Dior lip products I wanted to check out. I normally only stick to Kat Von D liquid lipsticks, but now with masks... I've been looking at other, more hydrating options that wouldn't smear. Who wants to look trashed when they take off their mask? Not I. Well, not all the time anyways. Dior cosmetics are right up front so I take a look. As soon as I stand in front of the section, someone asks if I need help. Without products being out and seeing what they look like, of course I say "sure". I explain that I'm looking for lip tint that's hydrating LIKE a lip balm, but I DONT want a lip balm. I also added in that I was leaning toward Dior. She directs me to the Honey Butter Beeswax products......... Which is a lip balm, but she said it isn't. I nicely dismissed her and just browsed for a couple minutes before quietly scooting my way out. I know 98% of the time when I go out, I look like a train wreck and probably don't know a thing about makeup. But I don't care to be bothered too much in Sephora because I normally know what I want or am able to navigate just fine. Samples not being out, just throws me off. I should've looked online first to see colors/swatches. I know now. It really was nice of her to help, but she didn't hear my wants/needs. I do like the store for its helpful staff and overall cleanliness. I like the procedures and precautions that have in place. And Sephora really is a nice general place to shop. Hey guys I got this lip perk service yesterday totally totally worth it! I think the guys name was John he did such a good job. If u haven't chapped and cracked lips and your usual lip plump not doing the job it's definitely worth it to stop by. The appointment was super easy to step up and my lips looked way better after the appointment (total session lasts around 15 minutes) and they also give u the lip revitalizing serum for afterwards. Stopped in after dinner at Olive Garden so my best friend could use her gift card. Only planned on looking around since I don't really buy this kind of stuff and had never been in the store. Initially, we did not require help, but my friend needed help finding a product and that's when Destiny came to assist us. What an amazing young lady. By the time we were done, we had been in the store for two hours, my friend spent her entire $100 dollar gift card and I spent $85... I mentioned to her that I don't do any type of skin care regiment, as far as make up, I may wear a little eyeliner and face powder... Ms Destiny took me to school! Lol. The way they followed me around the entire time not thinking I would notice. I came in with no makeup on so I'm sure I didn't look like I belong lol but I was having a rough day and just wanted to do some retail therapy. I couldn't shop without having a worker look at me (while assisting other customers) just constantly watching my every move. I can understand once or twice but the entirety of my time in store? Then my mom comes in the store after I was done shopping and there were 2 employees whispering to each other and looking directly at us and pointing. I look at her and say "yes?" And she says "still everything okay?" And I say "yes." And proceed to check out because I was done with the BS. I couldn't wait to check out with all my products that I PAID for. I hope those workers felt ashamed for judging someone's character off the way they appear. This is a big issue for me because if you can't make your customers feel comfortable and welcome then you don't deserve to work for a company that promotes inclusivity and diversity. My makeup addicted self loves Sephora. It's my personal playground. They sell a wide variety of brands and products. They have testers available so you can test everything out before you purchase it. I've noticed that all Sephoras are the same. It's basically the same set up with makeup in the front and the skincare at the back. They always have a worker stationed at the door to greet you. Sephora came out with a lipstick line called Lipstories with 40 different shades about a month ago. There was this red lipstick, Hong Kong by Night, that was always sold out online. I asked a salesgirl about the lipstick and she told me a lot of things sold out before Christmas. She had no clue what I was talking about. I knew that because the lipsticks weren't even sold in stores at that time. She didn't bother to check. I went up to the cash wrap and asked them there. The cashiers actually looked it up on the computer. They said the lipsticks weren't on the floor yet, but they might be in the back stock. One girl went back to look and found the lipstick for me. She brought out two. She said that they would open one so I could test it. She said that they were going to put the lipstick line out the next day. I was so happy that she found the lipstick for me, as it was sold out online for weeks. I would have given this store five stars if the first salesgirl didn't blow me off. Even if she would have said that she didn't know rather than feeding me some false BS, I would have been ok with that. read more

I have gone to this store in the mall numerous times. I go on my days off of work so not dressed up at all. I walk in with my teenage daughter and staff members do not greet us, smile or even acknowledge us. Right after me, walks in a lady dressed up and is quickly greeted and asked if she needs help. Maybe that was just a one time thing but on my next day off of work we went back and again the same thing. I then tried the one in Waikele outlet and was greeted right away and asked if they could help us. The staff was so nice at the Waikele store. So I have a few must haves from Sephora. I was extremely excited that one was finally at Ka Makana and much closer to home. I had a need for a new eyeliner for the bottom because I can't do those ones that oil up and smudge under the eye looking a hot mess. So I asked the "director in charge" recommendations. She was vague and didn't even show me any of them. Just a verbal and stood at the front door. A needed mention, during my time no one asked to assist or if I needed anything. Usually, Sephora is known for that. I picked an eyeliner and went to check out. Cassandra wasn't very nice either. I had to ask her to enter in my rewards so I got credit. She seemed annoyed (even though they prompt at register at my experience). She seemed annoyed and said she had to void and enter it. She had a sass to her demeanor, not good for customer service. I don't understand how this store has a 3 & 1/2 star rating. But anyways, when coming to Sephora I felt really comfortable as far as COVID precautions and staff paying attention to my questions. Before entering the store a staff member is making sure the line is okay and capacity is okay for customers to enter. While I was waiting she made sure I was signed up for their rewards program because she knew I was spending money. Upon entering, two staff members helped me with my two different products. I am not a makeup person but I do love my skin products. I was there for the Fenty Skin products !!! So exciting. Located behind H&M. There is a post outside due to COVID rules, and the gal in the front was super sweet to let us know their points promo going on that weekend as well as asked if there was anything specific we were looking for. As my co-worker and I entered we were greeted by the workers as we passed them to get to the back wall where the cologne/perfumes were located. Believe it or not, my co-worker has no idea what "Acqua Di Gio" was?! So I needed to bring him there to smell it. When we got to the wall, we were assisted by the worker covering that zone and we kindly asked for a sample - but unfortunately due to COVID, they are not giving samples out. But they will have you spray it on the tester for you to get a whiff of it. I did need to go in and get new concealer and translucent powder, so that same lady introduced me to Kika! OMG Kika with beautiful eyes! She was great! The lady that handed us over to Kika, let Kika know what I was looking for. She was informative about the different Anastacia translucent powders and the purpose of each one. She then mentioned that there was a promo if 2 items were purchased, so I jumped and asked about their foundations, she color matched me and showed me the difference from the vanity light to natural lighting. She helped me find my match. When I got to the register the girl that checked us out was really sweet. I couldn't find my Sephora member number, so she was kind enough to help me with looking it up. Kika met me at the register and she handed me my free gift of purchasing 2 or more items from the Anastacia line. Overall, I love shopping at this location! I came in ti looking for foundation that wasn't oily, applys naturally and stays on without being heavy. One pif tge staff nenmbers were kind eniugh to take my skin tone scan and helped me find the perfect shade and texture. Make up need I say more! Love this place and the workers they are so knowledgeable about their products and personally helps you match the right color and type of makeup for you. I had to return a product line because of my skin sensitivity they honored that and allowed me to chose a different one. The price is on the higher end but you get quality products that are not to harsh on your skin. I go at least once a year to get new products but I need to get the eye liner and mascara more often I was advised of that. But all in all I love the variety of products they carry and I can count on it being great. read more

I have gone to the store at least three times. As soon as you walk in you're greeted with a bright and friendly hello. The store is clean and in excellent order. They are organized I love how products are arranged and easily found. There are a lot of samples that you can use and apply so that you see if the product that you're purchasing is good for you or not. There are knowledgeable staff all over the place that are more than willing to help. I love that they sell smaller samples of things as well so that you don't have to invest in the higher price items without trying them first. I really like how clean the store is as well, their products are placed on the shelves very nicely and in order. They have ample staff that are so helpful and knowledgeable. You don't have to wait a long time when you ask him a question, they go and get the answer from someone if they don't know it right off the top of their head. They're willing to help you try on products that look good on you, and I willing to make recommendations. Overall I would consider all of my experiences here excellent. Makeup junkies! There is a Sephora in Kapolei!!! WHOO HOO!!!! This location is smaller than the other ones on island, but it has everything needed to complete the look! Just like the other locations, I'm greeted right away when I step in. I've been here twice and the employees are pretty helpful. I was able to pick out a new foundation and replenish my primer stash. On one visit, one of the makeup advisors helped me pick a better shade. She let me try 2 products and I was able to walk out with a new shade of foundation. On the other visit, I was browsing and the staff greeted me and asked if I needed help with anything. ahhh, that's why I love all the sephora stores. The staff want to help and love to play with makeup as much as I do! They have a vast selection of products for makeup, skincare, perfumes and other products. There is something for almost all skin types. on another note.... They also have that black mask peel that's all over the web. (grabbed it too for my daughter to try). I got nothing but love for this location! This month, if you got your 500 points they are giving the caviar hair kit!! eek!! I am probably the only one excited, but oh well. I got my kit yo! I'm so shocked with reading the negative reviews about this location?! I mean are we talking about the same place and workers? I just went there yesterday and as usual I had a wonderful experience! Always greeted at the door, asked if I need help looking for something. Offered a basket if my hands look full. Yesterday however, was exceptional! I went in looking for a waterproof pencil liner to go both ways upper and lower lash line. Normally I'm all about the top brands.... there were so many to choose from and I didn't have the time to test each one. So I asked a worker. She took me to the Sephora line and I was like "whaaaa?" After talking to her and testing it, I was blown away and sold! I truly wish I could remember her name (sad face). Not only was this eyeliner the bomb, its only $10 compare to the top brands in there that may do half the job this one does. She was working the register between 10:30-11:30 (very long hair)when I was there.... I'm so thankful I asked her. I didn't give them 5 stars only because there have been times when the product I went in for was not available and no one offered to see if the Pearlridge location had it, I had to venture out there myself. Update 5/25/17 Okay so, being next to two schools, the mall is bound to get tons of kids coming into stores. Unfortunately not all have honest intentions, which is why mall security regularly walk through the store. Having worked in retail management myself, this is understandable. I noticed a lot of people who needed help being sat down at the Beauty Studio. This is a good sign that the employees want to make sure you'll like what you choose by giving a thorough consultation. They even have classes for skincare, how to do smoky eyes, how to get a perfect complexion, and even more. Ask about their schedule when you come - apparently they even have this schedule online. They usually are less busy during the morning and early afternoon on weekdays, so if you need extra TLC, the staff will be more than happy to help. *Jon Jon is especially amazing at teaching you what he's doing and why* Custom Makeovers take about 45 minutes to an hour and are usually scheduled ahead of time by purchasing a $50 gift card to reserve your spot (unless you are a VIB Rouge), which is good towards any products you decide to purchase. A walk-in Custom Makeover, especially on weekends, is very rare to happen fyi! A note to people wondering why the person up front can only "point" you in a direction or have someone come to help you: It is because they are zoned in that area and can't leave; they are there to greet clients and be like the info booth. I know this from having managed a few clothing stores in my time, so please don't take offense to them not being able to drop everything to help you right away - someone will be along soon to help you! By the way, I've met all of their Directors in Charge while just perusing, and none of them were snooty at all! I've always been greeted with a staff member and have always gotten the help I needed. I've been to a lot of Jon Jon's beauty classes located here at Ka Makana Ali'i in the past and I learn something new each time! Plus, you even get to shop earlier than the store opening! My last visit in the past week, I had the pleasure of receiving help from their Director and Jon Jon. I honestly felt like family while in the store. I was very impressed with the consultants at this location. The store was moderately busy. It could be the constant lost look I have when looking at new beauty products, but someone knowledgeable was always nearby to help. They asked pertinent questions and actively listened to my wants and had a few options. AJ help me with the foundation. She nailed my shade in every brand and knew the products. She was very patient and pleasant while I worked out my choices. Chanel was very bubbly and genuinely excited about fragrances. Her taste was impeccable. I have been shopping at Sephora for years but have opted to ordering online because some workers are just so pushy when it comes to buying products. It's okay to let me know that you can help me find a product but damn, let me breathe and explore for myself. It sucks that I can't just explore and look around without 3-5 workers constantly watching your every move and I just know they're talking about me on their damn headsets. When I finally asked for help the worker couldn't help me find the product, which is a mask I use for my break outs, and I asked for suggestions on something else I could use and she looked at me like me asking for help was an inconvenience to her. It wasn't even busy, and if you're gonna have all these workers riding up and down my asshole to ask me if I need help looking for something, make sure your workers can actually help and aren't just saying it because it's required to check if I'm not stealing. I didn't get her name down but I'll definitely check next time which probably won't be for a while. Sephora used to be like a candy shop to a makeup lover like me, now I can't even touch or look at a product without wanting to walk out because there's so many eyes looking to see if I'm stealing product. Customer service much? I came in today around 2pm (1/20/19) and it wasnt busy AT ALL. Besides another customer, I was the only one in the store. Was not greeted at all, yet another associate was all HI WELCOME!! to another person that walked in after me. Like really? I work at a coffee shop and we're running around doing things and STILL greet our customers. There were THREE associates in front talking story. Only after about 15 minutes a lady asked me if I needed help with anything. The cashier was friendly, hence the 2 stars. I will also mention that at the pearlridge location no one bothered to acknowledge or help me as well. I actually came in because I had a gift card. Go to Macy's cosmetics or ULTA - they have much friendlier service ALL THE TIME. read more

First things first, HUGE shoutout to Olivia!! Not only was she very professional and knowledgeable, she was VERY personable. In the technological age where people don't know how to talk to others, it was really refreshing to have a conversation so down to earth with someone and she really went above and beyond to make sure I was satisfied. I came in just to get my foundation color (and God knows I've been wearing the wrong color for years now). I was greeted by Bella right away and she asked if I needed anything. I let her know I wanted help finding my foundation color and she didn't hesitate to put me on the waiting list to try the Sephora Color IQ. I always see the ads for it but never really thought to try it. When she measured for my skin IQ, she referred Olivia to me since I wanted help with skincare (if you suffer from eczema you understand the hardships of dry skin that I go through). Olivia was not only extremely knowledgeable - she made me feel like a million bucks! Our personalities really clicked and I could tell she was being genuine from start to finish. She recommended a variety of items for me (at no pressure at all either) and even the items I didn't buy, she let me take a sample home to try it out. I'm a firm believer you buy into people and I was really impressed with Olivia! I felt like knew her for years and she definitely made sure I was satisfied with all my choices before I left. Though I'd go to this location since I was in the area, I was glad to see the store itself is very clean and well kept, make-up testers are stocked, but one BIG problem is customer service!!! I walked into the store and not one person greeted me, so I browsed around to see if anyone would see if I needed help, NOPE!!! there were two ladies at the register, one lady doing a make-over, one lady trying set up for a makeover but still no one to ask if I needed help or letting me know they'll be right with me. I believe that any business should teach customer service!!! very sad read more
