Just visited this location a few hours ago & was quite shocked at how bad the customer service was. I went in solely looking for a new foundation and wanted to try out 3-4 brands that I had in mind. I had hoped to have an associate help me in picking the closest shade to my skin. The place was packed, which is understandable on a Saturday night. Yet, there were a lot of staff who ignored me and overlooked me to ask other customers if they needed help. Some were too busy applying their OWN makeup in the mirror! I almost flagged someone down but they all seemed too busy gossiping, laughing and cursing with each other so I swatched the foundations myself. Thankfully I knew what I was looking for and have basic makeup knowledge and found my product. I still love Sephora as a company, but the staff need some serious training. Us ladies (and guys) are paying good money to keep you employed, so the least you can do is acknowledge & help us. read more

Usually I've found the staff at most sephoras pretty knowledgable about makeup and skincare but whoever I got at this store was insulting to me and my friend who asked questions about a product. I wanted to talk about an experience I had in the Sephora that is withing the Galleria mall in Houston. I walked into the store with my best friend (white) when we were immediately greeted by a woman. She asked if we needed help and we said no thank you. She seemed really nice and genuine and I thought nothing of the question. The associate then turned to me (black) and says "Okay, we will be watching you." I have never had this happen to me before so I really didn't know what to say. My friend and I just walked away and found a non-racist associate to help us. I didn't get her name, which is something that I regret but I wanted to speak up about this racial profiling and the horrible treatment at this location that was completely racist and unnecessary. Like I said she greeted us immediately, I wasn't even in the store looking at anything or being suspicious. If this happens again I will be sure to get their name, but I shouldn't have to. I hope Sephora takes action against these type of people, and do not allow them to work for the company. This happened a year ago, and I have not been in this Sephora since. read more

I love this location! Everyone is always so nice when I go in. I like that I don't have to have a FULL face of make up and they will still treat me like a star! I refuse to go to mac for that very reason. Here, they treat you like a princess. Will recommend things if you ask them to. Ask them to match your skin tone with their apparatus. I love their perfume selection as well as customer service. I do wish they carried a few more of the natural brands I love, but I generally can find something to meet my needs. Not my favorite location for a store that I could happily spend time and money in. Although I believe that they will be expanding - they are taking over the Tory Burch shop next door and quite possibly the next shop also - the current location is small and they don't always carry what I am looking for. Also, the staff seems a little distant and at times unprepared to answer questions on the store's products. Shouldn't a pre-requisite of the employees be that they know what they are selling? And where are they always running off to? Because they seemed to be moving with purpose, but it wasn't towards waiting customers who were obviously hoping to flag one of them down. All in all, Sephora remains a favorite of mine so I will continue to shop there. But on my next visits I think that I had better make a list, study up on what I want to buy so that I know what I am getting and then walk in/buy/walk out. Window shopping and experimenting with new stuff just isn't as much fun if I can't get any guidance or elicit some enthusiasm to try something new. read more

Two stars for having the largest selection, but the customer service is still suck-tastic. I realize they have no incentive to improve it because this store is in the Galleria, and regardless, people are going to shop here. I get confused about who to ask for help because sometimes I'll ask for assistance only to get referred to wait on someone else for help. Why aren't all employees trained to help in all capacities? It's inefficient to hire people who are inadequately trained such that they have to ask someone else to help them help you. During my most recent visit, I was exploring different foundations. The first employee I encountered was friendly and helped me try a couple foundations right away then let me be with some other recommendations for me to explore on my own. She said when I was done to just grab her and she'd give me samples of whatever I wanted. Of course I couldn't find her again among the hoards of people crowded here on a Saturday, so I snatched up another employee, who bustled me to the makeup counter, put my name on a list to be color matched, and just left me there. I sat there for almost 10 min without help, and another lady sitting behind me had been waiting even longer. We were being completely ignored. I finally hunted someone down to give me the two samples I needed, which took like two minutes of her time, then left. That's all they had to do to begin with. Over the past year, I've come to the conclusion that the only thing Sephora brick and mortar stores are good for are trying things on by yourself so that you can buy them online later. read more

They act like they don't want to make any money. I understand you work at Sephora, and you feel important .. but don't get besides yourself. Not that different from any sephora, except this is the only sephora in which I've ever been correctly matched to my foundation shade! They actually take the time to apply and reapply multiple shades of foundation on you, and they create samples of the correct match (to take home and try out before buying) without being asked. I've been to many Sephoras all across the nation and even a few in other countries, and this is honestly my favorite! read more

Hot and crowded all of the time and nothing I need is ever in stock. The samples/displays are so torn up and so are products made for purchasing. Like I can't even buy any makeup because people can't keep their grubby hands off but I guess it makes since because alot of samples are missing(stolen). And then there's the infamous Galleria customer service. This guy took forever to ring me up! He literally paused to have three conversations and stopped to hug another employee. Then he lazily threw the red tissue into my bag and simply said, "Here you go." Futhermore, he "forgot" to give me back my VIB card(I'm a VIB rouge by the way) and tore off half of my receipt. I wouldn't even bother coming here. Go get your cosmetics fix at Macy's or even Neiman's or Nordstrom. Yeah the people are snobby sometimes but at least the makeup is in decent condition. read more

While I love Sephora, I cannot say I'm a fan of this one here at the Galleria at all. I've been here several times and no one is helpful or friendly. One time, I asked an employee for help finding something and she just disappeared. Another time I asked for help trying to match my foundation shade, and the employee was really snappy and snatched an item out of my hand, scratching my hand with her nails in the process. I complained, but even the manager seemed to be nonchalant about it. Fortunately, there are other Sephora locations I'm in love with, and I've even began looking into other businesses that sell high end make up. What's funny is that my boyfriend came in here to buy some cologne and a moisturizer for me and he said the female employee that helped him was REALLY friendly and tried to give him her phone number. This review is for the free Contour and Highlight beauty class. The class is listed to be 90 minutes and it ended right around that time. My instructor was Cynthia. She was very professional and very knowledgable. She used one side of my face to show me how to perform the steps, and then I would perform it on the other half of my face. She would give me feedback and helped me with my side of the face.This class is very interactive, and I was able to get a lot of one on one with the instructor. What I loved about the class was that the instructor really wants you to learn versus trying to sell you products. You are not obligated or pressured into purchasing products they used. However, it gives you the opportunity to try products you have not tried before. If you not a make up expert and just want to learn more, then this is the perfect class for you. read more

Sometimes the sales associates at Sephora are snobby or lazy, but Kathryn was amazing and extremely helpful. She has impeccable taste and I really enjoyed the experience. 1 star because yelp one let me give 0 stars! Worst sephora I have ever been too! It the closer than the other ones I've been too but I regret even coming here. First when I walked in with my kids it seemed that the employees rolled their eyes when they looked at us. My kids are well behaved and when we walk into to a store the first thing they do is put their hands in their pockets because they know they are not allowed to touch anything. They staff saw me and not once offered to help. I asked for help and they ignored me! I was so frustrated! My husband got upset and he walked over to asked them to come help me politely. They said they would go in a minute since their conversation seemed to be more important. Cursing and trashy talk around my kids! Smh. Anyways I waited and waited and nothing! So again my husband so upset went over with the peach palette tester and asked if they had it in Stock. They rudely told him no! And went back to their conversation. I was so mad! I don't really know where to begin on this review. This is not a review on Sephora in general but of this location. I love that Sephora offers custom makeovers for special events. I've had one done at this location for my birthday last year (January 2014) and at the City Centre location for Christmas (December 2014). Both experiences were fantastic. I scheduled again at this location for my birthday party this year. I arrived 15 minutes early and met the guy doing my makeover. He was on the same page with what I wanted. He went to collect the makeup and another woman was supposed to "prep" my skin. She handed me two cotton balls with a blue liquid on it and told me to wipe the eye makeup off that I was already wearing. I started to clean my right eye with the product and my eye immediately started burning -- not the skin but the actual eye. My eye quickly became irritated, puffy, teary and bright red. I told her this and she said she never had any problem with using it with customers before. She proceeded to continue wiping my eye and face and told me how awesome the product was and how I needed to buy it. Meanwhile I"m still crying from one eye and becoming extremely frustrated. When my makeup guy finally came back he asked what was wrong and I told him what had happened. I then asked another employee if the stuff that the first lady put on my eye was supposed to be in contact with eyes. She said no which set me off even more. The manager of the store came up to me and said I could come back to the bathroom they have for the employees and flush my eye out with water. The woman who had put the product on my eye in the first place came into the bathroom and said she didn't know what had happened. I told her that what she gave me was not supposed to be put in contact with eyes to which she responded "oh well you're not supposed to get it in your eye." What person doesn't get eye makeup remover in their eye when they are trying to really get off all the long lasting mascara and other makeup? Especially if you don't know you should be extra careful not to make contact with the eyeball. After flushing the eye, it began to calm down a bit so I let the guy go ahead and do my makeup. However, because the eye never stopped tearing, the makeup did not match on each eye and I was unable to use false eyelashes which is always my favorite part of the makeover. I was over 30 minutes past my appointment time so was late for everything that evening. Also, I didn't appreciate the person doing my makeup helping other customers while doing my makeup. Especially since I was already running late. I will not be returning to this Sephora. I gave them 2 stars instead of 1 because the manager did try to make it right. They sang happy birthday to me and gave me a bag full of samples and a gift card. However, I hope that woman was reprimanded or fired. You can't have someone putting product on customers unless they know the directions and harms if used improperly. My eye is still irritated 3 days later and I believe it could have been much worse. read more

Sephora Galleria is THE BEST store you could ever visit. I'm the pickiest and the most complicated person so trust my review word by word. I spent today 1500$ there. And I don't regret it thanks to the amazing team they have: Carlos, Jorge, Josh, Alyssa, Tati and more... I had a huge transaction issue that I thought no one will be able to fix but Carlos the cash lead fixed it with no problem while making my journey so pleasant. Jorge, Josh and Alyssa (skincare & hair) are the skincare DIVAS I blindly trust them with all my heart. All the makeup team including the guy with glasses, Tati and the chubby guy with a beard are so nice as well ( I'm sorry I don't remember the names). I spend time with skincare specialists more than makeup that's why I memorized the names. They all put up with my challenging questions and concerns. They never show me attitude nor be upset at how much of a hard time I give them. Again THE BEST! Hands down Sephora. You're lucky with the amazing team. Not the best sephora. They have tons of staff standing around...not helping a single person. I can't tell you how many employees I walked by and not a single one asked if I needed any assistance. But the story changes once closing comes around. At 9 o'clock EXACTLY, I had at least 3 employees come up to me, ask me if I needed anything, then tell me that the store was closed. I love how big this sephora is and all the merchandise it offers, but they need to do some serious spring cleaning when it comes to who they are employing. read more

Very disappointed in the Sephora inside the Galleria because of the rude service. I went there on a Saturday afternoon and it was packed. And I still see many employees just standing round chatting with each other. When I approached two of the chatting employees and asked a question, they looked at me as if I was interrupting their important conversation. One of them answered me rudely and said "She is not working and I'm only skincare. You need to go to the color section." And then turned away like she didn't want to talk to me anymore. If you are not working, why are you still wearing your uniform and standing in the store like an employee on a busy Saturday afternoon? Don't know why some people are paid to just stand around and chat. I didn't feel like I was welcomed as a guest and definitely will not return. read more
