I am unsatisfied with a recent postmates delivery to my house. I ordered liquid foundation, but got powder instead?? Y'all need to verify delivery orders before sending them out. I ran out of foundation and needed it for an event, so I just kept it. However, I am highly disappointed. This is one of the two easily accessible freestanding MAC stores in the immediate Houston area. I prefer freestanding stores to counters because they carry the pro pan eyeshadows, they have the permanent Pigment line, and you can trade in your empties for Lipglasses, potted eyeshadows on top of the usual Lipstick at counters. However if you ever desire "Pro" products, they aren't available here, sadly - nearest Pro store is in Dallas, I believe, or you know, order online like a normal human being! All right, that being said, I kind of don't like this store at all. Given that it's housed in the big bad Galleria, it's sometimes the site of the worst human traffic ever. Saturdays here? Forget about it! Chances are you'll be waiting around for quite a bit to be helped unless you're especially aggressive (with the possibility of angering another frustrated customer). If you're not a brand fanatic, you may want to check out Sephora downstairs . . . it's possibly equally crowded, but at least you can self service. The make-up artists are mostly attentive and helpful, but every now and then one or two of them will seemingly suffer from "stick-up-the-butt" syndrome. Whoah there sailor, it's just make-up, calm yourself! I've never had a makeover here, but a couple of my friends have and they're decent, although MAC tends to be heavy-handed and trendy with their applicaton. Back when I had a ~problem~ with overbuying cosmetics I never use, I used to receive invites to sneak previews of monthly debuting collections. These little parties were always a little bit fun with horderves and cocktails, although again a little overwhelming given the tight space. The location for shopping gets 1 star. I've attempted to come here on more than one occasion and the store is always packed. There's no space to walk around or freely browse. Whatever you do don't come here on a weekend. Mayhem. Now the make-up services 5 stars. Lucky for me my birthday fell on a weekday. I called and made an appointment to get my makeup done because my best friend told me I needed to grow up and try a professional make-up application. So I bit the bullet. Hello you all. I would like to post this review because I feel the need to commend a certain person over there that I feel does a wonderful job. His name is Ruben. He is a supervisor at this location. I am not from Houston but I made it my business to go and visit that Mac store because he was there. He is a person that used to work at another Mac in another city that I live in. He really cares about his customers and he goes over and Beyond to make sure that we have exactly what we need. I just love me some Ruben. He's so down-to-earth and he speaks to his customers as if they were family. He doesn't treat them like Outsiders or like they are just simple customers that he needs to deal with and move on. I wish all managers could be this way. He has the most bubbly personality that a person could ever want to speak to. Whenever you stop by the store always make sure that you asked for Ruben to help you because he takes care of you. This is nothing against the other employees. I'm sure they are just as good but Reuben sticks out because he is the person that I have always dealt with. I guess I may be guilty for not letting the other employees help me but he basically gives me every single thing that I need to the point that I don't have to ask for help from any of the other employees. I believe I am a very laid back and no fuss customer. I usually go up to makeup counters and stores knowing what I want because I've research the color and brand before hand (many thanks to youtube gurus and fashion bloggers). So I went into this particular Mac store on a non-busy Weds. knowing pretty much what I wanted. When I walked in with my friend, I immediately found the two lipstick colors I wanted to purchase. A sales associate came up to us about five minutes after I picked out my items asking if we needed help picking out a color. No worries- I already did that part for you-yay go me! My friend then suggested I tried the colors on to see if they would look nice. Problem was my lips were so freaking dry-ugh. So she ask the sales girl if there was any lip conditioner to which she answered they are out. Really? You can't open another tester bottle for customers to try on? But okay I tried them on anyways and decided they looked nice. I then saw some lip liners to which I wasn't thinking of buying but thought why not since I was there. I turned to ask the sales girl to locate some and found out she had walked off somewhere. Erh....maybe she went to get me the two tubes of lipsticks I wanted? No luck- she came back sans lipsticks and just kinda stood off to the side. So I picked out two different lip liners by myself and was about to ask her grab the items to check out. My sales assistant then started to say something- AND this is when I thought she was trying to be more social-able and helpful BC it's obvious I was not trying to waste her time and am actually purchasing something. NOPE no such luck-she wasn't talking to me but to a fellow co-worker who just came in who she ran up to hug. I am no huger nor do I expect you to wait on me hand and foot- BUT COME ON NOW!!! My friend saw that I was getting no where and started to walk towards her and ask for my items so we can go. I stopped her and said let's go. I don't want the store nor her to make a sale from me today. I've work in customer service for over 15 yrs-to which I am often very understanding if a sales associate is busy or forgetful. It happens. But when you blatantly choose not to do your job?!?! Yeah I don't need the product that bad. Which is a shame because I was a sure sale-just didn't like the lack of customer service from this store. The first time I walked into this Mac store was to buy concealer. I couldn't remember the color I was using and asked for help. The associate literally just threw a bunch of different colors on my cheek and asked me which one I liked best.... it's your job to help the customer match makeup & skin tone? They were not friendly, and didn't act like they cared to help. I am a MAC fanatic & always use there product but lately the service has been sub par. I might stick to purchasing make up online. I also went to the Nordstroms Mac Counter in The Galleria to purchase eye liner. I knew what I wanted and found it quickly myself. I then proceeded to stand around and stare at the associate playing on his phone for 15 minutes. He then looks at me and says " Oh I am off the clock- someone should be coming." & Then he walked away and left the Mac area unattended. Stood around probably for 5 minutes or so and decided to take my business to NARS where i was quickly greeted by someone, got a recommendation on some great eyeliner, and checked out in under 10 minutes. I came in for a makeover on Saturday morning (10:30 ish) for a photo shoot I had that day. I was taken care of immediately by Cathryn (AMAZING make-up artist). She sat me down and asked about my skin, make up preferences, look I was going for, etc. I showed her several pictures of what kind of style I wanted and we discussed everything very thoroughly. She got to work right away and explained every step of the process, which was really helpful. She even picked out the right foundation / concealer color without even putting it up to my skin, and it was spot on! The make over took about an hour (she got interrupted a couple times and had to tend to customers), but she was very attentive to detail and did an EXCELLENT job. I was worried that I would be too "made up" since it is MAC, but she did exactly what I wanted and always asked me what I thought along the way. Also, regarding what everyone else said about not being tended to, Cathryn greeted everyone the second they walked into the door, and also went to help them if no one else was around. Just in case you're curious, their make overs are free, but you have to purchase at least $50 worth of items (which is not hard). If you make an appointment with them, there is a $50 fee (not purchase) since you will have your own make-up artist and no interruptions. Otherwise, it is a first-come, first-serve basis. I would HIGHLY recommend, especially if you want to get dolled up for the day/night and are needing some new make up goodies. Ask for Cathryn - she's awesome! read more

Tonight's trip makes me wonder why I even bother with MAC. The price increases annually have gotten out of control, and the employees are just SO RUDE, stuck up, and condescending. This store is always amazingly dirty - the counters had products spilled over on them and crumpled up tissues - and the testers always look like someone chewed on them. After years of holding 6+ empties in the back of my car, I finally redeemed them for a lipstick. Thankfully, I knew what I want, and asked an employee for help. The initial lady who I spoke with was actually quite nice (she had a sleeve), but I am assuming she was busy since she kept asking other associates to help out customers. One person who stopped in before I did left because no one was there to help. This other associate got the lipstick for me, and I waited to check out. While waiting, I saw this other associate who was trying to ring up a lady with a tax-exempt (what?) purchase, arguing or venting in frustration with another employee about said purchase. The customer who was there stood there awkwardly with a blank look on her face. I feel your pain, lady, because I too experienced secondhand embarrassment. The guy who pulled my lipstick rang me up, and he asked me for my name, which I begrudgingly gave; apparently Back 2 MAC requires this. Now, I really don't mind doing so, but I HATE it when there are so many people around, and all of your private information is being announced. I was not entirely willing to give my address out either, but he said that he'll make up something, so I wouldn't have to. I appreciated that and apologized for the inconvenience. That being said, he pulled another customer's information out of the database and put my Back 2 MAC on another person's account! I found out that this was my old address that I had completely forgotten about, but still... That just seems totally sketchy, especially if the customer was another active customer. If I ever buy MAC again, it won't be from this store. When I do Back 2 MAC, it won't be with this store. Frankly, there are just way too many cosmetics companies and counters in this area where I have to put up with bad attitudes, so that I can have the privilege of being a customer. If, like me, you are a total moron where makeup is concerned, if your mother never helped you pick out makeup or helped you put it on, or if you just want to work right out of the box and not have to "experiment" with it, then this is the place for you. I come here because I need serious help when it comes to knowing all the silly little things we girls are supposed to know or understand when picking out makeup. I come here for the same reason that I go to a hairdresser to help me pick a hair color. For a female who wanted to play with her brother's matchbox cars more than a Barbie, the artists who work at this store are just heaven-sent!!! They've suggested items I would have never thought of on my own - like eyebrow color so that they match my hair! And it's not just the suggestion of products, but I also wouldn't have known what "tools" to use to apply this stuff. The makeup artist who first handled me (and isn't there anymore) suggested a few good tools that could do multiple jobs. I like this MAC location the best. Yes, the store is small and it gets crowded on a Saturday, but I've never had a problem with service because of it. I'm very disappointed with the service I received from Gabby the store manager at MAC store at the Houston Galleria and I won't be returning. I will not give my business to a business that doesn't seem to appreciate their customers. I recently purchased some eyebrow gel online during the 20% off promotion and noticed when I got it that I got the wrong color. So I drove all the way from southwest Houston to the MAC store at the Houston Galleria to exchange it out, buy two makeup brushes and trade some lipsticks in using the recycle program. When I walked in the store Shannon was the first to greet me and help me. She was so sweet and knowledgeable. I told her what Makeup brushes I was looking for and any questions I had she did phenomenal in assisting. When I told her that I accidentally purchased a brow gel online and need to exchange it out, she said they could return it. I asked her if I would get it at the same price if I'm just exchanging it out. She didn't know so she grabbed the so-called manager Gabby. Gabby was very condescending and disrespectful when she approached me. She said, "no we can't adjust the price. You need to return it online." I told her I've never had this happen before usually when you exchange out merchandise and purchased it with a discount stores normally adjust the price. She laughed at my comment and said, "you need to return it online and maybe they can help you." I also wanted to take advantage of the Back to Mac program and Gabby also refused to take one of my lipsticks because she said it came in a Christmas set. So she wouldn't except it. I called to the Mac store in Houston Galleria. I spoke to Sara - operation manager. I ask if she can look up how many recycle makeup case I had in my account so I know how many more I need to get my lipstick. She look up my account and there was ZERO. I had open the recycle account in 2016. I know I came here several of times bring back empty makeup cases. I was shock that the system show nothing. Sara decided to add some cases in my account to see if it would take it. Sure enough the system did not accept it. So throughout the last 2 years the system has not accepted any of my recycle make up cases. Sara gave me the 1-800 to call customer service & let them know about my account. I spoke to Joanie. She had me on the hold around 30 mins. Joanie was trying to figure out who can assist me. Joanie finally got back on the phone she said she was told that I should have collected the 6 empty cases first. Than bring it to the store to trade in for a lipstick. I told her that is not what I was told. The reason of the recycle account is that customers can bring it anytime. Once u have 6 empties cases u can get your free item. Joanie said someone from customer service will call me back 24-72 hours. I called back to Houston Galleria, spoke Sara. Explain to Sara what Joanie from customer service said. Sara agreed with me that Joanie was incorrect. Sara said she called technical service on her end and got it taken care of. Thank you Sara for being so nice with great customer service from the time u answer my phone and after our phone conversation. Sara was so friendly & professional. MAC always delivers great products no question about that. This particular location for me is my last choice simply because it takes a lot to make it here. I have to park and walk and fight the crowds. They do seem to have the largest inventory so when all the other mall spots run out, you can almost always come here and find it. I just want to thank Laura Ponce for her AWESOME work and kindness. To make a long story short, I had a gala to attend and I scheduled an appointment a week or so in advance. I was so busy with work that I had the incorrect time. On the day of my appt, I was running around like a maniac and made it within the 15 min grace period. However, I was informed that I was actually an HOUR late and my appt was cancelled. By this point, I literally wanted to cry(the gala was in 2.5 hrs and I suck at make-up). My collective experience (Galleria + Rice Village locations) has been so bad that I've stopped using Mac cosmetics altogether. I used to see Samantha at the Lincoln Park location in Chicago, The store was lovely with natural sunlight. I could browse as long as I liked, but( friendly, knowledgeable) help was available when needed. Unfortunately, that's not the case here in Houston. The shops are way too small, which can't be helped, I suppose. But the rudeness should be addressed. I ended up walking out of the Galleria location after standing there for 10 minutes trying to get some help. I get it, you're busy! But at least acknowledge that I'm standing there! The Times Blvd location is no better. I had some woman "helping" me pick out eye shadow for my Quad compact....she assured me they looked good with my coloring, but in reality only two or the four work. Of course, there are no returns at Mac, so I'm stuck! But the killer way when I was trying to pay (over $200 on that little excursion) and Miss Thing was too busy squealing when some of her friends came in the store. Today I can confirm that the rudeness comes from the top as the manager refused to exchange a powder that they themselves gave me the wrong color and by the time I realized it the receipt was long gone. I literally wanted the same product in the color that I need. What is the point of giving our names and phone numbers at the register if they can't use this as a way to exchange a product? It's obvious that the employees are rude to customers because that's the way the managers tell them to act. I have always wanted to try out their products, but never had the chance to make it over to one of their stores until recently. When in the store, I was greeted promptly and assisted. I made an appointment within the hour to get my make-up done. Kyla is who I was set up with, and she was so very nice and friendly. Overall, I ended up discovering the BEST foundation and eyeshadows/liners I have ever used. I LOVE the full coverage foundation that I bought. I wore it today, along with the shadows that I bought, and I must say that I looked gorgeous ALL day long...even after a long day at work, my make up still looked FRESH! That never happens. I did NOT have a good experience at this store. I was in there for about 15-20 minutes and nobody approached me or even told me to hold on for help. I noticed one particular employee that did not even look up at me to acknowledge me. I was browsing the lipstick section on my own (looking for a particular color ) and another customer started talking to me. She was very sweet and started helping me look for one color I was looking for ( I didn't ask her, she volunteered on her own!). This sweet lady even decided to ask the employee working there to find it. The employee asked her "Oh are you looking for the___ color" and she said "No, this young lady is". Even after all of this, the employee STILL did not help me. I am not going to go up to an employee or any manager to help me do something I can do on my own. I walked in on Tuesday, September 10th, 2019 and I was feeling like total "meh." I specifically came to purchase a studio fix powder in C2. The young lady that assisted me was super nice and very helpful. Her name is Janessa R. Very compassionate, direct, wasn't pushy whatsoever. -Can we please talk about sanitation??? I mean if I was the trainer, she would be rated 100% across the board. Station was flawless, hands were sanitized, and every product used was wiped down along with eyeliner being sanitized. Brushes were clean to a T. I was observing her precise work and I have to say it is very impressive. I kept looking at her winged liner and just couldn't resist but to ask her if she could wing out mine. I can wing my liner to a T. I just wanted to be pampered for 15 minutes and end my day on a positive note since make-up makes me feel happy. I felt like a kid in a candy store. Janessa R. deserves all the accolades. In fact, I literally just called back the MAC store to ask for the spelling of her name and to my surprise she recalled who I was as well as the items I purchased. -Now how is that for customer service? Oh wow, so I'm not the only one who was ignored at the MAC galleria location. Seems like the reviews are repetitive that the employees don't help you out. I knew exactly what liner I wanted and the shade. I looked through the store, and couldn't find it. I asked several employees, and before I could even finish asking them for the product they would respond, "Someone will be with you shortly!!". One directed me to a box of samples and told me to look through them. FINALLY one offered to help. I asked her for the product, and she responds, "we don't carry that in stores. It is only available online". Why is it that the other employees I asked before couldn't tell me that earlier? This MAC store hires VERY RUDE employees here. I made a trip to the MAC store inside the galleria a couple weeks ago because I wanted to buy a nice lipstick and blush for everyday wear. I would try to go up to an employee to receive help in choosing a blush but they would just blatantly IGNORE ME. I was literally standing inside that store for a good 40 minutes and still no one would attend to me or asked if I needed help like they should do. New customers with a face packed full of makeup would come in and the employees would rush to help them find what they needed as opposed to me being fresh faced without a single ounce of makeup. Just because I'm not wearing makeup doesn't mean I'm not going to buy anything from your store. The employees here are stuck up, rude and discriminating. Recommend to not go here. Rude staff. They never approached me when I entered and I had to call them several times to get attention. I asked couple questions and they made look like they never understood me. So rude. I bought a foundation and asked for brush recommendation. Turns out the guy gave me powder brush, not foundation brush. Such a douche. Never going there again. I read all of these bad reviews, but I actually had a good experience at this location on a busy saturday afternoon. It was very crowded, but I got help within a minute by a very cute guy who helped me pick out what I needed for contouring, and also did a quick contour on me. He was very nice and efficient and I walked out of the store with fresh makeup on and a smile on my face! read more
