This Sephora, in terms of having the products you want, is fine. It's smaller, but it's fine. This store is serviceable, and if you need something, they'll probably have it. Hence, they getting stars at all.
I've got to take 1 star away for the parking situation. It's nothing they can help, but it's awful and makes the process of going to this Sephora a difficult one.
The other two stars are deducted because the people who work at this location are just so incredibly unhelpful. I found one helpful person who worked there...one single person who knew the products well enough to help me find something I wanted. Unfortunately, she worked almost exclusively in the fragrance department; once I was finished there, she handed me over to someone who was supposed to be one of the makeup specialists. I should have been a dream to someone working on the makeup side... I had a few specific things I was looking for, but I had a big budget for the day and was open to suggestions for new products on which to spend my money. Basically, she was going to earn Sephora some easy money. What I encountered was such a blasé and (honestly...this is the most accurate adjective, not trying to be mean) vapid saleswoman, that I was just frustrated. I asked about liquid liner, and you would have thought I had asked her to run up 10 flights of stairs to fetch me something... she seemed so inconvenienced the entire time she was helping me. When I asked about what products they had in the store that she was excited about, she just didn't have any suggestions, and shrugged it off in an, "I don't know" sort of way. I just gave up and went looking on my own.
I spent another probably half of an hour in the store. Every sales associate I spoke with (most of whom were either standing around and not doing anything, or talking in a group with other employees... i.e. not at all interested in helping customers) were unhelpful. I asked about a retractable brush with which to apply translucent powder (retractable so I could keep it in my purse), and the girl started pointing out brushes that didn't have retracting capabilities. When I reminded her that I needed the brush to be retractable, she pointed me in the direction of some decent retractable brushes for, say, blush, but nothing good for full face coverage. When I pointed this fact out, she just sort of shrugged and said she didn't think they had anything like that. When she walked away, I managed to find a brush exactly like I was looking for in the Smashbox section.
Overall, if you need to run in to get something to replenish your normal makeup collection and don't mind dealing with Rice Village parking, go for it. They'll probably have it. But if you want any interaction with sales associates whatsoever, save yourself the headache and go to the Galleria. read more
