I came into Sephora looking for a specific perfume, but unfortunately this location didn't carry it. I then started to smell other fragrances to see if there was anything similar, and the employees took the time to show me fragrances with the scents I like. A man (I wish I remembered his name) and Nadia were both excited to help me as I smelled different ones. They made thoughtful recommendations without being pushy. I ended up leaving with a Kilian perfume and I've received so many compliments on it since purchasing it! While I'll still visit another Sephora location to look for the original perfume I had in mind, I'm so glad I got this one to add to my collection. I love Sephora in general, but this location in Rice Village is probably my least favorite--mostly because of the parking situation. There are only a handful of spots right in front of the store, and they've always been taken when I've gone. There is a parking garage nearby, so if you really need something, you can park, but it definitely feels like a hassle compared to other locations. The staff here is nice, though not as attentive or welcoming as the teams at the Galleria or Memorial City Mall. I wasn't expecting a Times Square-level experience (which, by the way, I do recommend if you're ever in NYC), but this store feels noticeably smaller than most Sephoras I've been to. That said, they still manage to carry a good variety of products, just in a more limited space. If you're looking for something specific, I'd suggest checking online before you go. I've used the in-store pickup option here and it was convenient, but I don't come to this location to browse. Overall, it's not bad--just not one I'd go out of my way for. read more

A huge shout out to Ida, the Beauty Advisor, at the Sephora in the Rice Village! I was in town for a Wedding event that night, and she did an amazing job on my "full face" make-up application at 1pm in the afternoon. I was pleased with all the cosmetics she used (even the lip stain) that lasted throughout dinner and looked great all night. I've never even heard of this lip (or cheek) stain; "Benetint". I did not feel the need to add eyelashes, as she worked magic with mascara and eye shadow coloring. Ida is so personable. Thank you very much! read more

I went into this sephora location on dec 28th for my 55th birthday makeover, I paid 60.00 for full face makeover plus 7.00 for lashes. Shanta the makeup artist never matched an foundation to my face to make sure it went with me skin color, also I was asked what color I would be wearing and I told her black and I was under the assumption she was asking for that for eyeshadow color but Clearly she didn't care. After I left and got to my car I could finally see finish look better in car and to my surprise it was horrible. Foundation and powder did not match my skin, no color eyeshadow. I never asked for an natural look I don't know were that came from. I contacted Alex who claim to be a manager but no one ever reached back out to me. Please do not go to sephora for makeover. Ok, seeing these reviews I guess it's not just me. Was in the store looking for a number of specific items. There were not many customers but lots of sales associates, all of whom ignored me, a 55 year old woman. Until, that is, I opened a box trying to find the size bottle I was looking for and one of them comes screeching over to me not to open the box. Well, I wouldn't have had to if someone had helped me, and don't talk to me like that! Put the box back, put the other items I had in my arms back and walked the 3 minutes over to Blue Mercury instead. So friendly and helpful there! Also generous with high end samples. read more

Let me just start by saying Sephora is my favorite make-up store, and i even more so love a free-standing Sephora store. I came looking for an eyebrow brush, and I was treated and offer assistance by every representative I saw and although they did not have the brush I was looking for, they were able to help me find a similar brush. I was also able to use my insider points for 10 dollars off. I really love the store location, parking was easy, and they're super friendly. I hate this location. Highland Viliage is the best Sephora to go to up this way. This location is small, could be the layout and they never have as much as HV and if you do find something you like, it's out of stock!! Sales associates can be hit or miss. Not recommended to go to this location. When I visited on the Boxing Day, it wasn't busy as usual. But none of their associates was kind enough to lend their help. They were busy just walking mindlessly the 2,000 square foot store. Some even busying themselves talking to each other. Other was tidying and cleaning specs of dust that surprisingly still there, untouched, after cleaning(!!!). Went to this location on Saturday 2/2/19 with my daughter. We were in there for 30-45 minutes. Not one sales associate said anything to us. There were several of the ladies just standing around talking and laughing. One lady had her drink in her hand while she was walking around. Sephora, Sephora, Sephora! I can get lost - and spend way too much time and money - in this store. I'll admit I'm a lip gloss, lotion and shampoo/conditioner hoarding whore, and Sephora helps me get my fix. Not just for myself, when I'm in a gift-giving bind, Sephora is the perfect spot to swing in a buy your gal pal (or man friend) a gift card to buy their favorite perfume, body scrubs, cosmetics and all that other good stuff. Trust me. It's just as much fun giving these gift cards as it is receiving. Kinda. The ladies at this particular location are always so helpful and seriously full-staffed (ahem, unlike their neigh MAC). The only complaint I have is their early closing time - 7pm on weekdays! My gah. That's so early. This isn't a dangerous 'hood to close up shop before sundown, so that's an unacceptable hour to lock the doors. As for all Sephora locations? I wish they carried Bobbi Brown and a few other higher-end products that department stores offer. However, they have the best return policy ever. You can return anything ... even used. You know that lipstick that you thought you liked but was fooled by the store's lighting? Or that mascara that claimed to not clump up but did? Or the face mask that made you break out? Parking is a bit scarce in this area. You can park for free in the garage which is a 2 minute walk behind the Rice Village shops or park right in front of the store in the compact spots using the meter. I had booked an appointment 3 months earlier to get professionally glammed up for my best friend's wedding. You get a free makeover with a $50 in-store purchase. I came early and they checked me in using a tablet at the makeover mirrors. The tablet is also used to keep track of the products that your artist uses so you can remember what you might want to keep or discard for later. I let my artist Jesse have free reign on my face. He is a pro after all. He gave me exactly what I asked for - gold glitter smokey eyes, peachy cheeks, and subtle pink lips. It looked great in pictures but was very caked on in reality. To be honest it was very heavy on my face. Jesse was funny and skilled. He joked around with a lot of the other employees and patrons and made the atmosphere light. At the end of it I walked away with liner, gloss, and an eye pallet for a whopping $80. If I had bought everything used on my face I'd probably have spent close to $500. Overall it was a positive experience. If you're going to buy makeup anyway and you've got the time, consider booking an appointment! read more

I walked in and there was an employee near the door she said nothing to me, I walked over to order pick up obviously needing assistance and it was like I was invisible. Immediately after another customer walked in who is not my skin color and they were greeted and assisted. I walked around and found someone and asked for help & he hopped right on it. His name was Henry. Thank you for being a sweetheart! As Henry was grabbing my order the employee who originally ignored me walked over and said "Did you need help with something?" in a really dry tone. Managers and employees are always staring you down assuming you are stealing! I understand people do go in and steal but you CAN'T assume everyone is stealing. This has been my go to make up store for years. I have pretty much dropped MAC and department stores because this is an "all in one" stop shop. I only head to the department stores these days if I need something specific that I can't find at Sephora. PROS: 1) All in one stop shop for designer and Sephora products. Face, body, nails, perfume, makeovers, travel size items, etc. 2)If you don't like one brand, try 20 others! 3)There are always people on staff to direct you to what you are looking for (however I have a con on this topic). They will match colors, give you a mini make over on the spot, etc. 4) If you like something, but you aren't 100% sure you want to buy it yet, ask for a sample. They are FANTASTIC when it comes to samples! 5) Rewards/Points System - Earn points and get neat stuff! 6) Birthday rewards - Get a free gift every year on your birthday (be sure to give them your email addy). Cons: 1) If you aren't too familiar with Rice Village you may find it hard to find parking. There is street parking availalbe if need be, just look for signs. Worst case, you park a block or two and walk. 2) Staff can have conflicting views on which products work best, so it can be a bit confusing. I have run into this time after time over the years. Not that it would matter actually- I've been shopping at the Village Sephora on an emergency basis for the past 15 years and I've ALWAYS preferred buying online... at least you don't have reps in your direct vicinity that are far too self involved in their own gossip or trying on the make-up - to ask a customer if they need help. I'm a long time high point (Rouge) Sephora junkie. This location has been my go-to for the last 3 years. However I will frequent it no longer. My last several interactions have been poor. My favorite daily tinted moisturizer-sunblock has been changed . I asked a clerk for assistance in getting the best shade for my skin. She promptly passed me off to someone else. Clerk #1 then just wandered off. The second associate then proceeded to find a shade I liked. Not in stock. Instead of offering the ability to order on-line or find a sub she wandered off. I flagged down person # THREE. Three found me an alternative and actually put it into my hands. Great. Neglected to tell me about a gift with purchase (3 skincare samples that were SUPER) being promoted. I saw the end cap display and managed on my own. Fast forward a couple of weeks. While the samples were great and I enjoyed using them, the original product was terrible. Returned to Sephora and on my own found a great product. Significantly more expensive than what I was returning. While they accepted my return they initially were not going to credit the original amount because they were charging me for the GIFT. Luckily I had the used samples in my purse to give back. The sour clerk, lack of service previously and the ridiculous parking charges at Rice Village mean that henceforth I will be frequenting the Galleria store or ordering online. read more

I have to say, going to this specific Sephora location was one of the best customer service experiences I've ever had! Sheila, super friendly red head, was really helpful. I think she went down at least half the wall of the fragrance section with me since I was looking for specific scents. A couple of the ones on display as testers were misplaced and she actually went around the store looking for them so I could test them out. Plus, it's really helpful when a store employee in this type of environment can actually help you with what you're looking for when you can't articulate properly the scent you're looking for. She could name the top and middle notes like counting from 1-10. Unfortunately a few of the perfumes I wanted weren't available there, but she did let me know they could order them for me if they were in stock at another location. I went online to my Sephora app and found the ones I was looking for and bought 5 different perfumes when I initially intended to buy just one. But that was how helpful she was. I found new fragrances that I didn't even know I needed! And my husband definitely appreciates going to a free standing Sephora vs fighting busy traffic and impossible parking at the mall! read more

After reading numerous positive reviews, I decided to give this place a shot in my endless journey for a good eye cream. As a first timer here, it was a very pleasant experience. Located in the heart of Rice Village, it's a good size store with plenty of selection and a great organized layout. I was immediately greeted and helped with my selection. After I found what I had come there for, I decided to wonder around and see what this mecca of beauty had to offer...and HOLY COW, do they have alot of products! I was impressed by the "digital preferences search screen" located in the back of the store that helps you find which product is best for you off your skin preferences, NEATO *gotta love technology ;) I am not one to buy alot of beauty products but I could definitely get sucked into this store. I recommend you sign up for their rewards system, they have 3 levels. Beauty Insider: you get promotions, free beauty classes, etc... VIB: if you spend up to $350/yr in products. Better promotions, private events..... VIB Rouge: spend up to $1000/yr. Better promotions, ridiculous perks... My only downfall, the products can be alittle pricey but that comes from someone who isn't use to buying all these different types of brands and products. I am definitely excited to upgrade my status to a VIB and I'm sure that won't take long. I am/was one of those girls who finds that one type of powder, blush, lipstick..... and will stick to it until it discontinues. It took way longer than I had hoped because the sales rep would not get out of my way, I understand you're helping someone out but do you have to apply their makeup right in front of the foundation selection even after I've told you I just needed to grab one thing from behind you? I feel like this is the case with every sephora location, all the sales rep are oblivious to their surroundings. Not everyone needs help, some people just need to grab something from the aisle that you are blocking. The person ringing me up was much nicer and bubbly but extremely slow in exchanging my item. I am DEFINITELY a die hard Sephora fan! I really dig this location, and my biggest complaint is that it's too small. That said, it's maybe 15 minutes away from my apartment, and they have about 85% of what I need, so it's not a complaint I voice often. The people here are nice, and they're used to me, so it's cool to walk in and get such a warm greeting from a familiar face. Unfortunately, a lot of the people I was used to have since been promoted and/or transferred to other stores. I do have to say that with all of the employee turnover, customer service isn't quite what it used to be, which makes me sad, because Sephora is my nirvana. So, they get 4 stars, instead of 5 for that (and I don't give out many 5-star ratings, anyway). But sometimes, it depends on who you ask for help. A couple of weeks ago, I asked the cashier about getting my new VIB Insider card (the new silver one), and she said that it wasn't showing up on her computer screen, so she didn't give it to me! I won't resort to name calling, but seriously? I'm going to LIE about needing a new card WHY? So, I talked to one of the managers who has known me since she started working there, and she got me squared away. I just get in trouble every time I come here, because I never just buy the one thing I need. They have a variety of brands here and even their own brand which has a nice selection of makeup and products for a little cheaper. Some new items I recently bought are the Dior mascara and Dior lip shine. The colors are beautiful and really stays on your lips. The mascara is awesome too. I would recommend signing up for he free rewards with them if you buy here a lot. You easily rack up points that you can apply towards a number of gifts. The gifts get bigger and better with the more points you have. I'm still holding off on mine. They also have a true color finder to match your exact color of your skin with many of their brands. I really didn't like how I was treated at this location. I'm guessing they judging and think I wasn't going to buy anything. I really was want to buy the honey naked pallet and needed a little help putting colors together. I ask the manager for help and she's said it's a paid service of 30 dollars but we can get you some brushes you can do it your self . Than I was like well can you help me to recommend a natural looks . She said a gentleman will get you some brushes and recommend some colors for you. Then I ask you don't do eyeshadow she saids no I'm the manager. I'm like oook She was helping everyone else I saw but couldn't help me. The guy just brung me brushes and walked away. If you want to be ignored when you ask for help. My advice: do your research, stick to what your skin likes, don't let them convince you of what is "best." I agree with other reviews that the customer service here is bad. I came in to exchange a foundation and needed help color matching and wanted recommendations. First I had to walk around the store to actually find someone that could help me and then once I did she called over someone else that could help me instead. Um.. first off she had an attitude and seemed annoyed by the fact I was asking for help. Then she said that be me a few minutes. No one came to help so I approached another lady and she also had a bad attitude! I've worked retail for years so bad customer service really gets under my skin.
