I had the most incredible experience in the Hollywood Ovation store two weeks ago. I was running late for my focus feature appointment and had ordered some lashes online. I called ahead to let them know I was running late and the associate on the phone let my stylist know and when I arrived the team had pulled my online order for me. My stylist Ruby was incredible. I had a magical evening planned at the Magic Castle and booked a focus feature on my eyes (I am 45 and hopelessly out of style for a dramatic eye). I AM NOT JOKING WHEN I SAY THAT I HAVE NEVER FELT SO BEAUTIFUL IN MY LIFE - NOT EVEN AT MY WEDDING. Sadly, there are no photos allowed inside the Magic Castle so I have limited photos of how I looked but it was an incredible evening and I felt amazing. THANK YOU RUBY!!!

Rochelle is the best for your skin needs! Facials, skincare recommendations !! She's your girl. Ruby is the best for makeup!! She always knows exactly what to do without needing much direction. Everyone here is always friendly to me as this is my neighborhood Sephora but these 2 are definitely gems!! This picture is from my birthday makeup by Rochelle. It stayed the entire day and night!!

I just had one of my best experiences shopping at Sephora! A woman named Shahla helped me find the perfect skin care line for my skin. I purchased the face wash and she gave me a few samples of their other products to try. I will definitely be back to buy the other products and she will be my new go-to person for all my skincare questions. She was super helpful and kind!

I've been coming here for a few years; I used to live 2 blocks away and now live a half mile - I…read morekeep returning. Firstly: I am THAT annoying person who pisses off their hairdresser by doing box dye and cutting their own hair (sorry! I can't afford to spend hundreds every other month). Secondly: the staff is always helpful, as soon as I walk in the door, they ask me what they can help with. Today was the best experience EVER though. Yes, I chopped off my hair because of a combination of anxiety and politics . It doesn't look great. Wearing it in finger waves until it grows out. Val was sooooo kind and friendly and did not judge or side-eye me (she smiled, and was like, it happens, don't worry). Since I have textured hair, I asked her about relaxers, as I haven't used them. She directed me to the ones that customers like the most, and answered my questions - "can I still use a curling iron after?" Great advice - not recommended, low heat, but possible. Also when I asked about repairing masks, she recommended one and said she used it and loved it - I was like - say less. Kaynin was also so sweet and and helpful. I was asking for recommendations for a smoothing serum that wasn't too oily but would calm my frizz. I already used it an hour ago and love it. THANK YOU TEAM SALLY!!! I want to say that one day I will stop using box dye and cutting my own hair....but honestly, it's never going to happen. And because of your business and staff, you will benefit :) And thank you again Val and Kaynin. Your helpfulness was everything.

Coincidentally forgot to purchase a product and returned inside. To a big surprise the manager was speaking horrors on why employment was being seeked with the available school hour given. Might as well not have come in to look for a job if school was going to be preferred. DO NOT BUY FROM HERE AGAIN!!! #DEI #TRUMPSUPPORTERS#MAGA#DIVERSITY #NONDIVERSE

I took some time before writing this because I didn't want to respond purely out of emotion. As…read moresomeone who values supporting Black professionals and uplifting other Black men in this industry, leaving a negative review was not something I wanted to rush into. However, my experience at the salon inside Ulta left me feeling embarrassed and disrespected, and I believe it's important to share honest feedback. I came in asking for simple straight-back braids. I was technically a walk-in, but I called ahead first to make sure it would be okay before coming. On the phone, the stylist sounded welcoming and said he could squeeze me in between clients. I didn't mind waiting at all--I was just excited to get my hair braided. Unfortunately, the tone completely changed once I arrived. Instead of a professional consultation, the stylist immediately began criticizing my hair, saying it was "dry" and complaining that it was short. For context, I had just blown my hair out and intentionally did not add product because that's commonly recommended when preparing hair for braids. Additionally, my hair has been braided successfully about 4-5 times before, so I know that my length is more than sufficient for straight-back braids. Rather than offering helpful guidance, the comments felt dismissive and unnecessarily negative. The overall tone made me feel uncomfortable almost immediately. After starting the service, the stylist completed one braid. When he tied it off, he said "no hang time" out loud. This comment was made in front of other clients in the salon, and it felt embarrassing and unprofessional. Being singled out like that in a public salon environment made the situation even more uncomfortable. The braid itself also appeared rushed and below the standard I expected. Earlier in the appointment I had asked if stitch braids were an option, and I was told they couldn't be done because the salon didn't have "the device" to do them. That explanation didn't make sense, since stitch braids are typically done with technique and a rat-tail comb rather than a special device. After the first braid was finished, the stylist asked if I wanted to continue. Based on the comments and the overall energy of the interaction, I decided not to move forward with the service. When the braid was taken down it felt rushed and aggressive, which only added to the discomfort. I was also asked if I wanted my hair washed afterward, but I declined because at that point I just wanted to leave. This review isn't meant to tear anyone down. However, professionalism, respect, and client care are essential in the service industry--especially in a salon environment where people should feel comfortable and confident. I walked in excited for a simple service and left feeling embarrassed and disappointed. My hope is simply that this feedback encourages better professionalism and communication so that future clients have a much better experience.
