I had the most incredible experience in the Hollywood Ovation store two weeks ago. I was running late for my focus feature appointment and had ordered some lashes online. I called ahead to let them know I was running late and the associate on the phone let my stylist know and when I arrived the team had pulled my online order for me. My stylist Ruby was incredible. I had a magical evening planned at the Magic Castle and booked a focus feature on my eyes (I am 45 and hopelessly out of style for a dramatic eye). I AM NOT JOKING WHEN I SAY THAT I HAVE NEVER FELT SO BEAUTIFUL IN MY LIFE - NOT EVEN AT MY WEDDING. This has to be the dirtiest Sephora I have ever seen. I went in the morning, so you'd assume the store hadn't seen that much traffic. The dust in fragrance section was thick and almost sticky. I was just in this store just recently and had the best experience. Everyone that helped me was knowledgeable and quite engaging. Renee helped me with a color match and really knew what she was doing. She had to step off the floor so she put me with an employee, Doretta. I know I am butchering up her name, but if she sees this, she knows who she is. When she said she left me in good hands, she meant it. She was so friendly and really listened to what my needs were. Gigi was such a wonderful person to connect with and when it came to the products she helped me find a way to get me the merit Lip kit even though it was sold out at every location I was near. There were two other ladies who helped me but I didn't catch their names one was blonde and the other woman had brown hair and she who rung me out! The girl who rung me out was very honest and helpful when it came to the products she was recommending me I ended up buying the Fenty concealer with her she had great energy! I just came in here two days ago to get my birthday present which was the Mario lip liner combo (the mini version) while I was out celebrating my birthday last night I accidentally left the lip liner at the restaurant, I came in today thinking I could show them my lipstick and just get the liner replaced since it's a free gift. Cena was the one "helping me" as she was at the front entrance. She basically laughed in my face and was incredibly rude to me! Then she proceeded to tell me that she could show me where the full size one was if I wanted to buy the full version and I was like the whole point was that it was a mini version of that lip liner. Regardless, if they have a rule, were only one person can get one gift, I just had received it and wanted to replace it. If it were me, I would have asked my boss to make an exception or see how else to help. Instead of laughing in my face and then gossiping with coworkers about it. Beyond rude. This is why I love my Ulta girls because they're never rude or racist. Sephora literally follows you around non stop, especially this one. Talk about disappointment...I hardly ever go shopping in person anymore and what I saw at this store today is part of why I stay home. I was totally looking forward to having a little shopping spree here today- had some extra money on my Venmo card and even went online to see if the items that I was interested in were in stock. Sadly, my little spree was not gonna happen. :( One of the items I was interested in purchasing was a collection of miniature perfumes. When I walked over to the fragrance area, not only were the shelves mostly empty, they were also covered with dust and actually quite dirty. There were two mini perfume collections on the shelf, but they looked rather shopworn and unappealing. I think I will purchase this online instead. As I looked around the store, I saw that the whole place was in need of a serious cleaning and new coat of paint. The floors, shelves and fixtures were all dusty and surfaces that weren't dusty, were dirty or covered with fingerprints. The whole thing made me feel very uncomfortable. I would not want to get a beauty service in an environment with such questionable cleanliness standards and left without buying anything. I didn't have any interactions with employees during this visit. In the past when I have been at this store, I've always had more positive experiences, but I think I will either stick to shopping online or visiting the store in Glendale for future Sephora purchases. read more

Booked a 60 min full face and left so embarrassed and immediately wanted to take it off.Leaving this location so many people were staring at me,maybe because my foundation didn't match and my concealer wasn't blended !! Person working the checkout counter was delightful and super helpful. The woman who came over to help me pick out a lipstick was a little dismissive and seemed like she had much better things to do. I shop at this particular location because it is convenient to get to from my place a few blocks away. Every time I shop at this location there is 1 employee and or contractors who somehow manage to insult myself and or ruin my mood due to their incompetence and or they lack the ability to make proper judgement calls. Today fortunately, my credit card company declined the transaction as I was about to pay and head home however this is when I was falsely accused of shoplifting an item that was ironically inside the bag and accounted for on the receipt. I was about to drop roughly $600.00 in this transaction alone but the god's shined on me as I would not spend a dime at this location ever again! I really love this location. The store itself is spacious and has a nice layout. Lots of natural light near the windows. The staff here are some of the nicest Sephora employees I've come across. They always seem to be in a good mood and have no problem helping. This location can get a bit busy so be aware if you are in a rush they might not be available to color match you right away. I had particularly excellent service from Giselle yesterday, took the time to help me find the right color and actually swatch me. The checkout experience was great too, they seem to stay on top of checking people out cause I've never seen too long of a line here. read more

After work on Christmas Eve 12/24/2023 at 6 pm I came to the Sephora store at Hollywood to buy my wife a Christmas gift, standing at the Dior perfume stand I asked the staff for help, the manager her name is JEN #117101(employee) was very rude, pushed me away, She said that she didn't want to sell me anything, it was time for me to leave, because they were closing in 4 minutes, although there was a long line at the checkout instead of selling. perfume for me, she called security and so I was forced to wait in the store and waste time when the guests in my house were going to celebrate such a wonderful holiday, I had to call the LAPD and get a police report to go to court regarding this dispute with the store manager, after 2 hour and a half in the store, I still couldn't buy a gift and I left very upset with no presents for my lovely wife! read more

I had a celebrity meet and greet later in the day and my skin was peeling and flaking. Luckily, I came into Sephora that morning and I had the most incredible makeup artist completely transform my skin and makeup! I'm so grateful that she saved me that day! She also recommended awesome skincare and makeup products, in addition to application techniques. The makeup application was so airbrushed perfect that I got compliments on my skin later that day. This is probably one of the biggest Sephoras Ive ever been to. It's located on the second floor of the Hollywood & Highland mall. When we got in, a few employees were ready to help my friend and I. We just wanted to browse around. We didnt feel any rush or pressure from any of the staff (unlike other locations I've been to). When we asked for help, all of the people that helped us were very polite and actually helpful. When we asked for some samples, they were quick to help us and made sure we knew how to use the products correctly. One of the my favorite things about Sephora is the ability to get samples. A lot of the products they sell are pricey, so it's nice to know you can test something out before you actually purchase it. I love love love makeup and beauty products. This Sephora location is definitely one of my favorites. We took the metro here because it's easily accessible on the ground level. It's very convenient so we didnt have to stress over parking. read more

First person greeting us at the door asked if we needed help. Not 15 seconds later another person comes up and says "And what are we shopping for today". Talk about overbearing sales staff! We finally picked out a few items in the empty and soulless store. I woke up on a Sunday morning needing my makeup done so I called this Sephora store and had an appointment within the next hour. I was totally surprised because I am sure this is a really popular store because it is at the Hollywood and Highland complex. If you are planning to get your makeup done you will need to spend at least $50 in the store on whatever you like--it does not have to be the products you intend to use for your makeover. I was looking for a moisturizer for my face so I was introduced to Sasha who was a skincare superstar. She was extremely knowledgeable about all the different skincare products and knew exactly what to recommend based on my skin type. It was like have a human Siri in store. Awesome!!!!! When it was time for me to get my makeup done I walked over to the beauty studio and we got started right away. My makeup artist, whose name I forgot, was such a sweetheart and really took her time making sure my makeup was perfect. I was told that it would take 45 minutes but it really took about 1hr and 15minutes so definitely plan accordingly. Overall I was completely pleased with my experience and def recommend this store for all your beauty needs. Everyone was upbeat and professional, while the store is hugeeee and clean! First of all, on June 4th 2019, Although I was late by 30 minutes for my full face makeover session, but after making a request my makeup artist Miguel and manager randy accommodated me for full 60 minutes of session. Even though they didn't had to which was completely exceptional and make me feel that they cared about my request and provided me with a high class service. Miguel transformed my face into a beautiful dramatic look with his magical knowledge and turned my overall experience to an extraordinary event. Miguel has introduced me to several new makeups such as Anastasia brow gel, Patric TA highlighting mist & many others. He took care of me and my makeup needs beyond the way I was expecting it. I learned while he used each product on my face. He chat with while focusing doing my makeup which didn't make me feel bored at all. Randy was an amazing manager that I've met. Other associates chat and complemented me about my makeover and how beautiful I was looking. All the associates including the cashier was really welcoming. Miguel took pictures of me after makeover. Randy took pictures of me with Miguel together which was really nice of her for doing that. Overall my experience was above and beyond to this Store. Came here last night with my boyfriend to get my free birthday body wash. I love the fact that you get this small little gift (that smells like CAKE!) for your birthday (the week before, or after, for free). It's a cute little gift and they have something for men too, just sign up to be a beauty insider. I asked the lady if I had to buy anything and I didn't - just give them my email - which my boyfriend said sounds like "a stripper name". Anyways, he was amazed by the size of this place and spent some time playing the the colognes. I pointed out the exact aisles where my favorite red lipsticks are, and can only wonder if he got the hint. Staff is friendly. The greeter is always at the door to welcome you in. I'm one of those people that prefers to shop alone and then if I need help I will go ask for it. I think the staff has seen me in there enough times to realize this from me, but they will still always greet me. I love playing with all the samples and love the nail polishes. I had to stop in quickly to pick up some foundation for on-camera use the other day and was truly beyond impressed with my experience and specifically with Jessica who helped me. Even during covid when a lot of business have to cut back on the customer experience reducing the quality, I felt safe and at ease with the Covid precautions and so pleased with my experience with Jessica. I kind of knew what I wanted- to support a black owned beauty business while also finding a foundation that matched my skin, and didn't look like I was obviously wearing makeup. With EASE, Jessica provided that to me. I was leaning towards Fenty and she helped me color match and she got it right the first time on my non-caucasian skin. The Fenty Pro Filt'r Hydrating Longwear Foundation looked natural and blended in like my skin-but better. Jessica was able to find my shade on the first try and by eye, she placed the foundation on a cleaned and sanitized pallet and I was given hand sanitizer and then was able to spot-test the foundation on my skin. She guided me through what was best for the use I intended- on camera natural makeup, and she made me feel at ease. Since then, I have shot on camera with the foundation and it was exactly what I wanted and needed. I'll be going back and checking to see if Jessica is around because my experience was a joy next time I need something. read more

I frequent this location quite often simply because of the proximity to my home. The store is quite nice, very clean. I am a little disappointed that they do not carry some of my favorite brands such as shiseido and La Mer, but their selection is pretty good. I've had mixed feelings with the staff over the years, but it seems as though they have replaced the rude ones I had the pleasure of meeting. I will say that their customer service has improved, they even gave me a replacement eyeliner the other week when I discovered the one I bought had no actual liner inside! A tip...the parking garage is plentiful but you only get 7 minutes of free parking with validation! You will pay around $2.00 which will buy you a least an hour..not bad for Hollywood parking! read more
