Has the usual Sephora stuff, but the staff is especially helpful and pleasant. I thought I would run into snooty LA staff, and was pleasantly shocked by the engaging, nice people working there. I needed a lip balm, without SPF as it was irritating my lips, and I wont do a lip balm in a tin, as the thought of sticking my fingers in it and then on my lips grosses me out. It's a MRSA infection waiting to happen, and I can't wash my hands every time before I apply lip balm. The 12 dollar lip stuff in a tube that the woman recommended for my exceedingly chapped and painful lips has worked well. Hooray for Sephora! read more

I was at Hollywood & Highland so I decided to stop in Sephora. My dermatologist wants me to switch to hypoallergenic makeup. I am using Neutrogena and Almay, but I wanted to look for a few others. Sephora carries Clinique, but they did not seem to have a good selection of eye shadows. I asked a sales clerk what other brands were hypoallergenic, and her response was "All of them. Every brand we carry is hypoallergenic." My response was "Huh?" And then I explained that my dermotologist wanted me to switch to hypoallergenic only.... and thats when she decided to ask someone who actually knew what they were talking about. This second woman explained that hypoallergenic was makeup specifically tested to make sure it did not contain any allergens. She and the other sales clerk had to go into the computer and actually look it up. They finally told me that Clinique and Smashbox were the only two brands that were hypoallergenic in the store. Then I asked them if they had those "gifts with purchase" like the Department stores do. And she said no, they do not do the gifts with purchase, but you sign up for their card and then you will get points. I looked around at both brands. Clinique did not have the colors I wanted. And Smashbox was just too expensive. If I am going to buy something in that price range, then I will go to a dept store where I can get a "gift with purchase''. I will keep an eye on their website and see if I find any deals on Clinique or Smashbox on the website. Maybe I will go back to Sephora at a later date, and try it again. I just wasn't impressed with either the sales staff or the products at this visit. read more

This is a big store and in the middle of hollywood blvd so very convenient. I forgot some skincare items at home so I popped in to see if I could get it. The check out line is long because it's a tourist center but the cashiers are fast so there's no wait. I did get a feel of many tourists and being the creeper I am, I saw some ppl from tcl theater to there sooo. I'm sure when it's hotter, ppl come in to escape the heat and to buy cosmetics. I was debating on the 3 different rosebud balms because the original was is raved about by my beauty expert sister so I asked for assistance. Boy, did the lady sold me on the strawberry one because it smelled so good and reminded me of my childhood obsession with strawberry things. She was soo nice! To pass the time during our lunch hour, sometimes me and our receptionist will stumble over to the mall and try out a bunch of scents just for kicks at this Sephora. This is one of the biggest ones I've ever seen and it's never too busy. I bought my Light Blue there and they were really nice to me and fast. I recently moved to Hollywood, and I must say this location has very chipper employees who are eager to help, and have definitely stood out amongst other Sephora locations that I have previously shopped at. Brittany (on the sales floor) was incredibly helpful in helping me find the right foundation. I had purchased one brand a few weeks ago, but was unsatisfied with it and she made sure to give me recommendations based on my feedback. She also recommended I take home samples to try between 2 brands, which I would not have thought of otherwise. Esteban at the register was very friendly and welcoming and made the checkout process incredibly quick and easy (even when I didn't have a receipt for a return!) Overall great experience. read more

Sephora used to be my one of my go to make up stores. This location is not it. Stopped by back in early March to pick up some products I needed. I was greeted at the door and went about my way. I was browsing around and realized not a single associate has asked me if I needed assistance. It wasn't too busy but the thought of at least asking me would be appreciated. I found the product I was looking for but didn't see my shade and asked one of the workers to see if they have my shade in the drawer. She lazily looked and said "no we don't have it". Then I asked her about another product and told me to go on the app and color match myself. So I decided to walk up to someone and ask if someone on their team can help me get color matched, she said yes but be patient we're a little short staffed and someone can assist you. I waited almost 30 minutes to help only to find out I was skipped. It was so frustrating that I had already spent an hour in the store. I decided to just get the things I needed and checked out. I was looking for a birthday present and found something really cool for a decent price. Surprisingly Sephora's brand has more to offer than I remember. My husband even got a collection of all-over washes in scents of creme bruleee, chocolate cake, and pink frosted layer cake. And its so nice how you can try everything on, I had fun trying stuff on before deciding what to buy. Not to mention the awesome freebie that day--good size benefit cream eye shadow liner. read more

Walked here right after my trip to Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf for magnetic polish. The workers here seem a little distant. I asked where the polish was located and she seemed a bit spacey considering that it was displayed awfully close to the door. Since the 3 packaged polishes was a better deal than sold individually ($30 for three packaged v. $16 a bottle) I bought it instead. The guy at the register was a wee snotty. Despite the bad attitudes I'd come back. They have a perfume that's no longer sold at Macy's for a good price and I want it. Ignore the attitudes of the workers; your experience will be much better. read more

My bf gets scared anytime I say I want to go to Sephora. lol. Ok, one of my guilty pleasures is going into Sephora and blowing over a hundred bucks on metrosexual beauty care. Yes, it's true. From face buff to beard lube, I've got it. In stores like this you often feel very uncomfortable as a dude, but not here. I don't even feel embarassment when they ask me if I'd like to sign up for a Beauty Insider Card (their version of a Ralph's card), and I reveal that I've already got one. My one and only minor complaint is that they seem to change the location of the men's products and the arrangement of the hair care every damn month. So, every time I have to look around for a minute to get orientated. However, I understand that it's probably so I'll look at new products, so I ain't hatin'. read more

The staff, on the other hand, I cannot attest to--though if I recall correctly, when I last visited, I was underwhelmed. I went back here in February and the service was so bad I have not gone back. My bday was in January and I received an email saying I could get my gift at any location within 2 weeks of the date. I grabbed what I needed after being approached by a not so knowledgeable lady in the skincare dept. That wasn't bad cuz I kinda already knew what I needed. So I go to checkout and mention to the cashier that I would like my free birthday gift with purchase, please. She tells me it's too late because I have a January birthday and it was February. Yeah, okay it was the 1st and my birthday is the 18th so it's still within the two week time frame. I politely mentioned this to her as stated in the email I received and she got super annoyed and talked to her supervisor via her earpiece and kept me standing there while she was asking if it was okay to give the shitty little lip gloss sample as a gift. After the little fiasco, I ended up receiving it and as she placed it in my bag , reprimanded me saying "Next time, just make sure it's in the same month". Hate your job much?! read more

REALLY BIG SEPHORA!!! They have everything under the sun here! I didn't like the fact that I asked a sales girl for help with false eyelashes and she pointed to the wall as if I was crazy. She looked at me like I was stupid, I had no idea it was to the left of me. There's so much to look at here and I wasn't really paying attention as I was blown away at all their products and the great lighting. My visit started off great and ended badly with her lack of customer service. So needless to say I purchased my eyelashes from MAC. The only reason why I gave this place another star was because of cleanliness and organization. Other than that its just a 2 star. read more

It was very busy when I went into the store and I needed help to find the right colors for my face so I wouldn't come out looking like a kabuki ghost or like I just got a DEEP tropical tan, as is what USUALLY happens when I buy makeup on my own. EVERYONE on staff was working hard with a customer so I had to grab someone for help. I ended up asking a GREAT sales associate (who was on her break but NICE enough to stay on the floor to help a co-worker out for a moment) for assistance and she was awesome. Her name is "SARAH D."- I understand there are a few Sarah's at this location- but the "D" helped me FINALLY find the right colors! I spent about $70 on face powder, blush, & 2 lip colors- A LOT of money to me (hell probably to MOST people) but thanks to Sarah D., I finally spent money on colors that were RIGHT for me. ...AND SHE WASN'T EVEN ON THE CLOCK AT THE TIME! The location's HR guy reached out to me and it's clear that they've read the yelp reviews regarding the potential racial profiling issues and that they really care about making things better. Still not the best Sephora location because despite its large size, it doesn't seem to carry as many product lines as other locations. Also, I think that instead of having a dedicated security guard, like other Sephora locations, they should hire more staff to both help customers and monitor for shoplifting. read more

I love this Sephora. If you can find Victorio -one of the sales associates- you'll be set cus he is the most helpful! He was very patient with me and spent a long time helping me find various makeup items and fragrances. He spent a while trying to find the price on a contouring kit and found that it was really expensive and helped me put together my own for a much better price. Ran in there frantically to spritz a little hair spray in my hair and buy some falsie lashes before I needed to meet my boyfriend at a his documentary's red carpet at the Dances with Films Festival next door in the Dolby Theater. Victorio sensed the frantic look in my eyes and took me under his wing. He had me sit down and in 15 minutes I was perfectly done up. He was so funny and sweet and hilarious along the way. He matched the perfect red lipstick for me (as we all know.... a maddening task), and my boyfriend said he loved the way I looked. Say hi to Victorio. He's a gem. read more

Okay sooo I used to hate going into Sephora because I was followed around, racially profiled and judged, but boy oh boy have they changed! I had the pleasure of being helped by Brian and Dave today and they were both so amazing!!!! I loved birth of their energy and knowledge. I trusted Dave fully and he wasn't trying to get me to buy any and everything just to make a goal. BRIAN was fantastic he is honestly the reason why I spent way more today than I would have! Very clean brightly lit place to find make-up. Everything is so over whelming to choose from but what makes it so nice is being able to try the trials. Aside from makeup up they also have nail polish and perfume that for easily in your purse. They have dual perfumes that have an easy roll on and it's very light to carry. The only thing is they are pretty pricey and just for one thing it's anywhere from $15- up. They also have a rewards card that you can build points to get discounts and they send you emails. read more

Oh my god. Both times I've been here felt like I was a kid in a candy store. This store is waaaayyyyyyy bigger than my local Sephora and has more products/brands as well. It's like 3x as big!!!! Even though I hate going to H&H because it's smack dab in the middle of tourist hell and the parking garage is a pain, this location is my favorite because it's the biggest Sephora I've seen in the area. I go to this Sephora just for the fact that I can walk here, otherwise, I would avoid Hollywood/Highland like the plague. Aside from how crowded it can get, and the parking if you have to deal with that, I'm really happy with this Sephora. The only downside I have is that they often have reps out for brands they carry. I'm sure all the stores do this, but this one always seems to have reps at their store, and I personally can't stand this. I just want to find the best product for my needs, and not feel pushed into something because a rep has to meet a quota. Also, if you have a chance get a makeover from Miguel. He is absolutely fantastic. I hope he never leaves the store. I've walked away with some bad makeovers before, but Miguel is amazing. He doesn't push any products on you, and is just a great makeup artist. read more

This location has always impressed me with the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. They also have a great selection. I stopped in just before they were going to close, and everyone was still very accommodating and really took the time to help me with each item I was looking for. Unfortunately I didn't get their names, but I had a very helpful girl help me with picking a Charlotte Tilbury foundation shade, and then another very helpful girl that helped me to pick a cleanser for my dry skin, and actually she was the same girl who helped me a while ago and recommended the SNOW mushroom serum by Volition Beauty that I still swear by to this day. The girl that handled my check-out was also very friendly and helpful and even asked if I had parking to validate. Also, the girl working the door was very sweet and welcoming as well!! I LOVE Sephora! They have a huge selection, free makeovers and a helpful sales staff. I rarely wear makeup so it may seem odd that I'm reviewing a beauty store. But when I do actually wear it, I like to buy top quality. I used to love Chanel and still do but Sephora has introduced me to all kinds of brands and products through free samples and helpful reps. I love bold colorful hues and tints and am not disappointed by the pigmentation of brands like urban decay. Also love makeup forever foundation, Kay Von d lips and Nars concealer. read more

I have been to this Sephora a bunch of times, and I have never felt stirred to write a review, however I was there the other day and I had a great experience. I had just finished working out and I needed shampoo. They had just opened and it was a Saturday morning. I went in sweaty and disgusting and I was greeted warmly at the door, mid-way through my walk to the back (where the shampoo is) I was asked politely if I needed help by another employee. I didn't and she was cool with that. When I went to pay, the girl who helped me was great! I wish I could give a 3.5 based on previous experiences which were not horrible, and nothing to write home about either, but if the awesomeness that was happening in there last Saturday is the new standard, consider me a fan! RACIAL PROFILING. A few days ago, my friends and myself went to Sephora and right when we walked in all staff had their eyes on us. We kind of brushed it off and kept on roaming around but then one the the employees told one of the security guards to "keep an eye on us" . Yes I understand that I am Mexican but that doesn't mean that I'm going to steal make-up. I can think of other thing to spend $50 worth of lipstick for. Had a fragrance specialist suggest a couple of scents she was very helpful but when I asked for help looking for foundations she referred me to a make up consultant who was an idiot. She basically just suggested the most expensive items without offering to color match me or even ask me about my skin needs. I walked away from her and went to explore the store on my own. I am a VIB Rouge member for years and I've never had an issue really with this store location with the exception of my make up appointment last Saturday. I arrived on time hoping to get a very great experience. However 20 minutes later my make up artist had still not arrived. I got prepped by an assistant because my make up artist was so late that they wanted to make sure that I was getting taken care of. However when my make up artist showed up he was not only super late... there by making me late for my appointment! But also rude and unapologetic of his really unprofessional attitude. He began to ask me multiple questions as if it was an interview versus a consultation and getting to know your client. I was expecting him to apologize for extreme lateness and for making me wait so long. Unfortunately that was not the case. He began to give me attitude and went as far as halting the preparations that he was doing and letting me know that I was being difficult and so he was going to ask his manager to give me a different make up artist. At this point I didn't know if I should just scream or get out of there. I didn't know what to do really, I was so shocked with the unprofessional level of treating ones client especially for someone that spends so much money at that store. I finished my appointment with a different make up artist. I don't think that I would return to do my make up there. I had a very terrible experience and I really do not recommend getting your makeup done at Sephora. I don't even know if I'm going to continue to shop there it's sad because I really like one of the workers she's always been really helpful. This just left a terrible taste for me. I told my friends and relatives about this and they will not be shopping as well. Super disappointed with the level of customer service. read more

Shopping for makeup is always fun but this time I got to see the talented makeup artists with their painted faces for Halloween. It was so amazing. When we realized we went back and they were not helpful at all. I definitely do not recommend the Hollywood location. Other sephora locations are very helpful and nice.
