City Pink Nailshop - Why are all the options for small size hands squared? Where's the variety?

I'm writing this review as someone who was a complete newbie with press ons nails. But I used to do…read moregel nails, not professionally on others, but my own for fun. Let's hop into it. ATMOSPHERE I've found City Pink in 2 malls thus far. American Dream has a storefront, while Garden State Plaza has a little booth. I do prefer the store because they have a lot more of a collection and plus everything is pink! The worker I've seen here is nice, but she can hover to an extent. I try not to pay any mind. NAILS I picked up a pair of nails on sale for $20. There aren't many small size options that are cute AND looked somewhat short. Everything was long nails. I'm not a huge fan of ultra long nails, I'm a snowboarder and in general I work a lot with my hands. But as a woman, I like my nails to be cute too. While I can't say there was a ton of variety, it just looked like there was. If that makes sense. Like I said I prefer short, round/oval, and still cute. But everything was in one style. I chose short nails for small size and it was a Hello Kitty design. But they were square. The pinky nails though, they were even longer than the rest of the nails! I'm going to assume each set of nails comes with the little prep pack, I can't remember because it's been awhile since I bought my press ons. But I had a small nail filer, some nail glue, and a wipe of some sort. Again, I used to do nails so I just pulled out my own tools. And I'm gonna assume because I buffed out my nails, used a dehydrator, and then YoungNails Protein Bond before I used any glue is what made my nails stick the longest! The glue was a very generic glue so I had very little expectations of it. I had some trouble opening it and when I did, it started to spill out everywhere. Hence why I said, generic. Also note, the nails are all curved beds. If you have flatter nail beds, highly recommend flattening your press ons a bit before you start applying (there are YouTube videos on how to). Because if you follow the advice of the employee (can't speak for all of them), your press ons will pull at your nail bed leaving you in pain. She literally told me to press them into my nails as hard as possible. Yeah, that's a no, that's horrible advice. While some of my nail beds ARE curved, some aren't and I was left feeling a dull ache and couldn't understand why. I had to remove them prematurely because it got to be too much. It took me almost 2 hours to safely remove. I did preserve the nails. PRICE The price is honestly, in my opinion, worth it. Because press ons anywhere else, for this type of detail or work cost actually around $70+ for a set. If you want to get gel nails or any type of manicure done with this type of detail, you're looking at $100+. I invested half a grand into being able to do my own gel nails from home. But do you know what it also takes? Time. Lots of it! Like 5+ hours. And I don't know about you, I run my own business so I don't actually have that time anymore. These ladies are offering product for a steal of a price. That's why I gave a 4 star and not a 3. Definitely would love to see more variety for small sizes and shorter nails. But I know beggars can't be choosers. NAIL REMOVAL They do sell nail removal solution but here's what I did instead. Warm up some water, warm enough like you're about to take a bath. Add 2 tablespoons of any kind of oil you have. Baby oil, coconut oil, olive oil etc. Stir it in. Then also add a few drops of dish soap and stir that in. This concoction will help break down the glue. Soak for 10-15 minutes at a time, and use a wooden stick or some sort to gently and slowly pry the edges up without inflicting pain. Breaking the seal. And getting the concoction into the crevices. OVERALL I love the fact it's easily accessible. But there's a lack of variety, especially for small hands. The advice was questionable. Would try again, for sure. But I also think I'll stick to my natural nails for now.

They have hundreds of nail styles, from short to extra long, perfect for any occasion. The designs…read moreare absolutely adorable and sophisticated, I want to try them all! The staff was very helpful, even measuring my nails and giving me great tips on how to care for them. There was also a fantastic deal when I visited. I'll definitely be coming back to try more designs.

City Pink Nailshop - Long nails are trendy, but I would choose short cute and functional any day.
