Sephora is more than a cosmetic store, they have skin care products and carry top-named brand merch. The employees are very knowledgeable and are Certified Makeup Artists (MUA). They offer classes on a regular basis, such as one-on-one makeup and skin care, which are very helpful. In addition to the classes, the MUA can give you a beauty makeover for special occasions (glam) $90, or natural look $60, eyelash application $15. Waxing services are available for eyebrows, lip or chin starting at $13. You can earn reward points, I had accumulated 400 points and redeemed them for a free mascara, sign up in person or online using their app. Creating an account is fairly easy or the cashier can assist you. Now you'll be able to receive discounts and special offers. Many times, the sales are 10 to 50 percent off. Another advantage of using their app, is Curbside Pickup. Place an order and it will be ready in a reasonable amount of time. The store is very clean and organized. The shelves are fully stocked. I recently visited Sephora and had a wonderful experience with one of the sales associates. She was incredibly patient, took her time with me, and made me feel like she genuinely wanted to help me find the right products. Unfortunately, another associate interrupted and told gestured to wrap it up. At first, I assumed she needed to go on break, but after I completed my purchase, I saw her assisting another customer. It gave me the impression that the store discourages associates from spending too much time with individual clients. That was disappointing because personalized service is what makes shopping at Sephora special. Customers should never feel rushed, especially when they're making beauty purchases and looking for guidance. If the store allowed associates to spend the time needed with each customer, they could build loyal, lifelong relationships. Sadly, because of this experience, I don't plan on returning to this Sephora location. read more

I meant to make this review several months ago. I never knew there was a Sephora here in The Shoppes. I LOVE that it isn't crazy busy all the time like the others, it makes me actually want to come and shop here. But the customer service is what really has made me a return patron. First time here Natalie Orosco took her time and actually asked me questions and to really find out my needs and recommend the right products for me (it didn't feel like she was trying to push to sell other products, which I usually dislike). I digress, she was so kind and immensely helpful as I am just trying to get myself made over again. Also, a return on another day with a kind manager. I believe her name was Des. The sales lady Tatiana was very nice to help me and give me advice on what to get and what not to get. She even talked me out of buying a few things. I give this review 4 stars for her. But the store overall, I would give a 2 stars. My complaint was that everything is so messy and dirty. So many sample products were falling apart. They're better off being thrown away. Do they not clean up the shelf and the samples at all? My peeve was the employees busy chatting with each other, having their own laugh and story telling than quietly checking on customers. They should be there to help customers, not to "hang out" with each other. Makes the store noisy and I felt left out (not that I want to be in their conversation). Pretty upsetting experience today. This was my second time ever entering a Sephora. The first time, one of the women working there was sooo sweet and helped color match me. I went a second time today. I didn't wear makeup (which I guess was my first mistake). Most employees greeted me and were kind. One man in a sparkling over jacket stopped me. He asked pretty forcefully what I was looking for. I told him I was having a "me day" and I wanted to just browse. He was pretty pushy and asked if I needed skin care. I told him no, I was just looking around. He pointed at a blemish on the side of my face and told me before I left he would give me a free sample to "address the breakout." He went as far as pointing a finger at my blemish. This was extremely uncomfortable and there were a million better ways to approach me and try to sell me something. Pointing out a blemish with no real interest in helping me was pretty upsetting honestly. I left immediately and do not plan on returning. I'll most likely just buy directly from sellers from now on. She was super knowledgeable and helpful in helping me find the right makeup that suits my skin and what steps I needed to take in order to prep my skin. I normally don't come to Sephora as I typically shop at Ulta more frequently. The minute I walked in I was greeted and liked that they had everything in stock. I was able to quickly find exactly what I needed. However, as I continued to browse the perfumes and check out other products- I instantly felt like I was being watched closely. I kept seeing the same 2 ladies walk by starting at me and the shopping basket I was carrying. Did not feel comfortable at all. The cashier was kind and provided great customer service and went as far as asking if I needed anything from the perfume section. I had the worst experience ever at this location, and i often go to sephora for most of my cosmetic needs. I've been a member for years and have accumulated lots of points and rewards. Anyway I went in with my friend and there were lots of teenagers shopping about and I wanted to test the new Haus Labs foundation because I was skeptical about the formula. My friend kindly asked an employee if she could get us samples for the Haus Labs foundation and the Ilia skin tint, she made our Haus Labs sample and promptly gave it to us and walked away without inquiring about the other sample we requested. I found the same girl and asked for more assistance in which she replied just to bring it over here, to the makeover station. I went to retrieve the bottles and came back and she said "i can't make samples of things that don't have a pump, it needs to pump heh." So i went over to get the full size to buy because i felt slightly embarrassed and it felt like she was annoyed i was trying to score free stuff. But i just wanted to try it, i dont know the demeanor was very off putting. As well as when we went to check out, my friend's birthday is coming up so she wanted to redeem her birthday gift, requesting the kaylani perfume set. And the worker replied they didn't have it in and didn't offer a solution for when they were going to be back in stock, if at all. So my friend proposed a similar looking tester on the checkout desk in which she replied, and I quote, "that's actually not the same at all and that's not how that works. Also that bottle is $32 dollars for the tester." What was the relevance for that last comment so unnecessary and rude for no reason. It wasn't like we were going through the store breaking anything or stealing, just two sephora members looking to shop. So unnecessarily rude and based off the other reviews I see this isn't an uncommon experience. read more

I shop here all the time for face products, cologne, and everything they offer. The team is very knowledgeable, helpful, and kind. They always have an answer to all of my questions and/or concerns. I had the most AMAZING experience at this Sephora the other day because of Ashley, she was above and beyond when it comes to not only customer service but care for others. I walked in knowing absolutely nothing about makeup and the kind of products I needed, a total makeup beginner if you will, she not only helped me find the perfect products for me but listened and informed me of the perfect things for me and the skin type that I have. This store always smells soooooo good. I sometimes just walk in to sniff a little but all jokes aside...this location has the coolest staff and is well stocked. Parking is convenient. Came to this Sephora yesterday and I was turned off and mind blown on how some of the employees were desperately trying to sell you items because they get a small commission off it !!!!! I wasn't aware that Sephora did this until yesterday when I was there some of them were trying to selling specific items to people based off the brand they were working for. What???? Here I thought that when someone asked for a product the employee was selling it because it was a holy grail product not because they made a few bucks from the sale. The only reason why I gave three stars was because the girl who helped us was actually very sweet and helpful and was opened to showing us other brands and also there was some what plenty of popular items in stock. I'm happy this location opened up at the shoppes! It is so much more convenient not having to drive to the Montclair mall to return or exchange online purchases! The jcpenney Sephora locations will only give you store credit.. which is jcpenney store credit & cannot be used inside a stand alone Sephora store. Yes, it doesn't make any sense but they say their systems will not allow a return to your original form of payment, even if you have the receipt. I love Sephora exclusives & favorites. I save tons of money buying sets and palettes especially during their holiday collection releases. The employees here are a hit or miss. Some are friendly and helpful and others think their $h*t don't stink. Sorry to break it to you. It does! I took another star off because their employees aren't all that well trained at matching foundation. I was told I was neutral although I obviously have warm yellow undertones. Most of the time I have really nice sales people helping me pick out products or locate shades of foundation and concealer but yesterday I had the rudest sales lady corner me in one of the aisles and speak to me as if I had no reason to be there/ couldn't afford anything. I don't know if that was her sales tactic but it definitely made me leave ! I don't know her name but to the lady with the overlined eyeliner that was drawn out in such a way that resembled a bat, if you're going to tell someone to be foundation matched as they have some pigmentation that should be covered up make sure your own skin looks clear and your make up is not cakey. read more

Shopping at this location is not very comfortable. I enjoy taking my time when I look at makeup, but the employees are constantly staring as if customers are planning to steal a product. I also asked for a foundation sample and the employee informed me that they don't offer samples. I've shopped at sephora for years and that has never happened to me, so I'm not sure why this location doesn't. I'm not buying a foundation if the color match is incorrect. I know you can return/exchange but it seems very wasteful. I'd rather be sure I color match myself correctly (the lighting there is not the best for color matching in natural lighting & most employees don't match me correctly). Pretty disappointing. Today I came in because I was interested in getting a sample for a sunscreen that had been recommended by a dermatologist. A very kind associate/beauty advisor named Lindsey immediately assisted me. I love this store but my experience the other day wasn't the best; I was approached 6 times by employees asking to if I was doing okay. It made me pretty anxious and I ended up not buying a lot of the things I came in for bc I felt rushed. I know the employees do not intend this effect and are likely only asking per request of management, but I wish there could be something in place to make sure that no one person is being asked 3+ times. I came in to find a new foundation to address redness in my cheeks. Tory helped me find an amazing product I hadn't tried before and recommended the brush - I tried it this morning and I am never going back to Fenty foundation. My skin looks airbrushed, i was stunned this morning. She also recommended some hair products which I am so happy I bought because it immediately helped my hair like she had mentioned.
