The worst customer service ever. I'm a huge Sephora customer but I have to warn others for their perk treatment . This is a joke. A cold spray on the face then a small harsh plastic with low suction (that did nothing) is pressed on your face by a young employee that said it was going to take out the pores. When she came to the eye area she still pressed hard and I had to stop her after 4 min of agony. Now I had red small circles around my eye sockets. She then said that's how she was trained and was going to talk to the manager. Came back to tell me next time it will not be something I can cancel and was having a tone. I said there will Ofcourse Not be a next time and how you are treating the sensitive eye area is wrong. And pores don't even open with cold water. She said that how she was trained. Sephora need to stop with that horrible machine. I needed to buy makeup for 200 dollars because I'm out of everything, (that why when I heard of this I thought why not) but I was so upset I went out empty handed. read more

He made my friends 17 year old daughter look totally natural in full foundation & blush paying special attention to young girls skin issues . He is helpful , a great makeup artist & super fun personality . Everytime I am in this location I am followed around the store. I love Sephora and I usually only go when I know exactly what I am going to buy. I was asked if I needed help 4 times (one girl asked me twice). This did not include the times I caught employees staring at me or hovering over me as I was swatching eyeliners. My sister caught one guy who I'd already said "no thanks" to (he kept asking me to try Urban Decay eyeliners---been there, done that) standing over me as I was swatching the Fenty eyeliners, he walked away awkwardly when my sister caught him staring at me. Sephora TOPANGA location: There's usually 1-2 people who have amazing customer service. So kind and knowledgeable on their product. The others floating around are just working for their dollar. Totally fine. 5 stars for the wonderful person "NiNi" and 1 for this Sephora having such poor customer service overall. I had an exchange + a purchase which I'd be spending at this store #730. The lady at register did not have an inviting attitude. It's like the moment I told her I had an exchange is when her attitude changed. This isn't the first time I've experienced bad customer service here. I just go with hopes that it'll be more fun "next time". It's not ever fun in this Sephora. Usually I just go to Sephora to get product and leave but I figured it was finally time to really get my foundation match and figure out what to do about my dry skin, too. One of the girls with short black hair (I don't remember any names, I'm sorry!!!) helped me to my foundation match for both myself and my little sister. We are SOOO happy to have ended our foundation search that matches our different skin colors/textures. She was so helpful and friendly and got the correct color spot on for both of us. As for skincare, I have dry skin, as well as my cheeks are red and irritated. I went in knowing nothing about skin care and one girl with long blonde hair helped me pick out a cleansing oil and matching cream. I've been using the products for not even 2 days now and the irritated red patches on my cheeks are already beginning to go away. I asked for assistance and they placed me with a guy, who was probably in a hurry because he took some skin scanning to find my color then quickly got a foundation, spread it on one cheek and that was all. I take my make up students to visit the Topanga Mall location at the beginning of the course so they can shop for anything they need, we have had a great experience. Store associates are knowledgeable and very gracious helping the students as needed. If the register is busy they will bring a mobile credit card terminal to the students to speed up their transactions. read more

I don't need advice, I don't need to know everything about everything, I just want to buy one thing and leave. That's why I was so happy with this Sephora location. I had read online that Sephora was carrying a new tattoo cover up, so I went in and asked about it. The sales girl took me over, got me the right shade, and just like that I was done. Up until this week I would have given them 5 stars but that's because I walk in already knowing what I want. I love going in and playing with all their make up then going home and researching it before going back to buy the products. I like to know exactly what I'm getting into before putting down my debit card. I love that it's always clean and that the staff is never hounding me. However, all that changed this week. I had some questions regarding a few different products I'd read about in the current issue of Allure. No one greeted me as I walked in and I couldn't fine a salesperson on the floor other than the two cashiers who were busy. I stood around near one of the brands I was curious about. Eventually someone came over and asked if I was doing ok. I said "No. I have some questions about this brand." She looked so scared! I was trying to decide between 2 colors and as I was explaining myself she kept looking around the store. She also seemed really nervous. She kept saying "Mmmhmm. Uh huh." while she looked everywhere but at me. When I was done she was like "So what exactly was your question?" I said, "Well I'm not sure which color would look best on me." She studied me and said "With your complexion you can't go wrong with either shade. It's really up to you and what look you're trying to achieve. Did I answer your question?" I said, "Yes, thanks so much! I guess I'll just keep looking." I'm not gonna lie, I'll keep coming back. I love Sephora too much as a whole to let this deter me. I had a big dress up event, so I decided to take the plunge and have my makeup done (for the first time in my life). I say "take the plunge" because I am a complete minimalist when it comes to make up. I've been doing my makeup the same way since college and I'm now 42. And, I've never really been shown how to DO makeup. Needless to say, I was a little nervous about my appointment. Boy, did I luck out! After arriving about 5 minutes late (parking that this mall is a nightmare, particularly on a Friday afternoon), I was greeted at the door by gorgeous Norma. When I told her I had an appointment, she said that she was waiting for me (but not in a rude way). We commiserated about the parking situation as she got me settled in. Norma listened closely as I told her my tale and she put me very much at ease with thoughtful questions to find out more about what i was hoping for for that evening. Throughout the whole process, she carefully explained each step and product and answered my many questions. There was no pressure to buy any particular product. I ended up buying an eye gel and the lip stain that we'd used that night. I found the staff that I interacted with to be nice, but Norma, especially, is quite a gem. My rating is based on my experience with Miguel. He is by far the best makeup artist/associate I've encountered. I went into the store to find a foundation, he tested two on me and selected the best one that matched my complexion. When I asked him advice on a everyday eye shadow look, he seated me at the makeup station and picked out a product for me and taught me and another associate how to apply it. I've been to many other makeup stores and he's got the best technique and eye for picking out the colors that looked good on me. He definitely knows his stuff. I walked out of the store looking like a million bucks! If you are like me and don't know what products to get, ask for Miguel and he'll be able to help you. I love love love the selection of make-up lines, but honestly, I have the worst luck when it comes to them having in stock the exact item(s) I want. This happens almost every time, and I use several lines. and many different items. I think this is the best Sephora (Topanga Plaza) compared to the other stores in Southern Calif, but I agree with Nicole A........the employees are either very helpful or not helpful at all. It's kinda crazy that way. I'm fine browsing on my own, but when I can't find something and want assistance......but can't get any.......guess who becomes irate? By the way, it was just last week at the JC Penney Sephora in Northridge that I had an issue with the cashier. She didn't ask me for my Sephora card or identifying info to log in for points, so when she finished my transaction, I said to her, "You didn't ask me for my card." She then tells me she forgot and that now that the transaction was complete, she'd either have to do a credit of that purchase and then re-enter as if I had none, or she'd give me a phone number for me to call to fix it. Not only that, she had an attitude about it. I told her many's a time that the cashier logs in AFTER she rings everything up, but this one insisted it was because they're inside JC Penney, and problems would ensue. I cut her off because that wasn't what I wanted to hear. I was angry because it was HER responsibility to remember to ask me for my ID info......it wasn't my responsibility. Love Sephora! So much make up, and I love that you get to try basically everything out here before you have to actually spend. I come here a lot because I can actually try out their stuff and know how it looks on me or how it feels on my skin. My favorite brands are Josie Maran, Urban Decay, Too Faced and Nars. All of these brands are amazing. They are all on the pricier side, but so worth it! Their stuff last wayyyy longer than other brands and pigments are much better which is why they are so expensive. All the naked palettes are so worth it. I have 1,2 and 3 and the smaller basic one too and I'm not even close to finishing any one of them! Make sure to ask for any samples you for any make up may be thinking about but don't want to try on at the store. I usually do this for face cleansers and toners since I don't want to try them out in the store and they always give you a small little container and a baggy with the brand and product labeled for you. That way, you can try it at home a couple of times, see how it looks or reacts with your skin, and then see if it's worth the money. Also, even if you do buy it and realize it's not for you, you can exchange it for something else. It can be used, but just don't be rude and use like more than half or a quarter, lol. If you ever need help, all the beauty associates are there for you. You can even ask them for a makeover and they will work with your skin type and what kind of look your looking for. I always do this which is why I've been getting better with my make up. Some associates are better than others, but that's just based on your make up preference. I say just take a look at everyone's make up, and if you see someone with make up you actually like or want something similar to, ask! They are more than willing to help. I always go for the more natural look so I found one girl who had minimal but gorgeous make up at a different location which led me into trying out the Josie Maran brand. Don't be afraid to try new brands. I used to sick to MAC cosmetics all the time because their colors were closest to my skin tone but I was always breaking out. Not worth it. Try out new brands. This Sephora is really really annoying! I used to live near by and never found myself visiting this store. I was home for Christmas and stopped by to pick up a couples of gifts for my family. At check out, I wasn't asked if I was a rewards member and by the time I remembered to tell the girl ringing me up she said, "It's too late, your purchase already went through." Maybe it was too much of an inconvenience to go back and add my points, maybe there was really no way for her to do it. But at least be apologetic about it. This is the local Sephora that I go to near my house. I would agree with some of the other reviewers on here that the customer service is kind of hit or miss. Sometimes, the customer service is great and you get somebody who is knowledgeable and eager to help out. Other times I feel like I have to really track somebody down to get a sample or to ask a question about something. What commonly happens to me too is that someone would ask me if I need help right when I walk in but when I'm browsing around and actually want to get a sample of something, there's nobody available. Another thing to note is that this Sephora is a little smaller than the other ones and I do find that it is a little disheveled. I personally do not like to go to the make-up stations at the kiosk ends to find that there isn't tissue available to wipe something off or the trash bin is dirty. I would like to give some credit though to this Sephora. There are associates here who are very nice and helpful. The trick is just getting one when you want one. read more

If it werent for the love of my make up products I wouldn't bother to drive and visit the store and just order online even if it takes later to arrive. I was reluctant to try this Sephora because of some of the recent negative reviews, but I decided to judge for myself, besides, I really needed some new products! I was greeted and asked how I could be helped and I shared that I needed a moisturizer and foundation that not only would not aggravate my roseacea but treat. Shay quickly came up with three options for the moisturizer and we checked out each one. I was thirlled with the one that I went with, Dr. Jart's Tiger Grass Cream. She then took me to someone with a ton of experience with makeup to help with my foundation. Thomas was also amazing! He knew exactly what would work, IT CC cream, would help with the roseacea in addition to providing good hydration. I love this product. It looks great and so far hasn't aggravated my skin. I felt so confident in his abilities and I enjoyed his demeanor that I asked him if he could identify a blush, lipstick and eye shadow for me. He shared this neat product by Bite. It's all 3 products in one. I never would have thought that something like this would work, but it did and I'm really enjoying it. When I checked out I was just so impressed by the entire experience that I asked to talk to the manager to tell her how very different it was from what I thought I might experience based on the reviews. I love sephora and the vast array of products but after reading some reviews here I agree their customer service isn't up to par. I feel like although they ask if I need assistance it's forced and the cashiers aren't as warm. I don't normally get greetings when coming and leaving. They don't have a lot of stock because the products I buy usually get sold out and they never seem to know when new stock will arrive. I'll still be a faithful customer but they do need to improve their customer service and stock. read more

Not entirely a huge fan of Sephoras in general because in my opinion, it's expensive. Some of their items however are the same price on amazon and at other retailers, and their selection is vast so I end up coming here when I need something. Agree with other posters that the people who work there have attitude, but I never have to deal with them really so it's not that big of an issue. They're always rearranging merchandise which throws me off when I go in, too. Hopefully they come out with some coupons in the future, I'd be more inclined to shop there if they did. read more

I almost never have a sales associates help me when shopping beauty products. I usually do research and purchasing online and then if I absolutely have to go in to a store I try to get in and out as fast as possible. I always feel like the sales associate anywhere have thier own agenda and aren't really working for me. Today I really needed help and decided to seek it out from one of the sales associate at Sephora and I am so glad I did. Christina was amazing! She really took the time and listen to what my concerns were. I really appreciated that she was able to show me the product I was looking for in different price ranges that all worked great. I ended up purchasing the more expensive choice but I loved that I was introduced to a budget conscious alternative. Christina was so helpful and knowledgeable and another thing I really loved is that she introduced me to some of her favorite products and made some great recommendations for future purchases. She even took the time to show me how to apply products I have purchased in the past and had no idea how to use properly. I will definitely be coming back to her for all my future beauty concerns. I just wish all my interactions with sales reps everywhere were this painless and positive. read more
