I don't typically review large retailers unless an experience motivates me. Today's visit at Nordstrom Topanga did it. The End-of-Season sale was going on so we decided to browse. I'm usually a "leave me alone while I shop" kind of girl, but I do appreciate being acknowledged when walking in an area. Nordstrom does this well in a casual, non-overbearing way. In the Men's section, I found a couple nice pairs of AG jeans and shirt for the husband that I thought he should try on. As we approached the dressing room with another couple, two sales associates appeared to assist. Randy was ours. I sat on a small couch inside the dressing room. As my husband came out to show me the fit of each item, Randy would come in to check if we needed anything. As we exited the dressing room, he was there to take our items for purchase and put back the ones we didn't want. We browsed some more, then made our way back to the register -- Randy was right behind us. I didn't have my Nordstrom card with me. Randy walked me through the steps of securely accessing my account without the faintest sign of inconvenience. This young man was impressively knowledgeable, patient and friendly. I have been here many many times and never wrote a review. It's one of the nicest Nordstrom's within my area and I like coming here more than the Glendale location. It's more spacious and has more brands including high end designer items. The shoe department is my favorite here. I always find cute shoes. Lots of parking including valet parking at this mall. I recently visited Nordstrom Topanga and had a really disappointing experience. I was shopping in the women's dress department and interacted with an employee named Faire. Unfortunately, she was extremely rude and dismissive when I asked for help. It felt like I was bothering her just by asking a simple question, and instead of assisting, she brushed me off and made no effort to provide any kind of service. This is not the level of customer care I expect from Nordstrom, especially given their reputation for great service. I had a really bad experience and told myself i would never bring my business back here again. but i had to eat my words because i had an emergency the other day and had to come to this location but i will say, i had an amazing experience with rosy at mac the other day and today i picked up an order and drew was so helpful and got me in and out so quickly! yesterday, Mari helped me place my order for pick up. She truly went above and beyond for me. On 8/26/25, I visited Nordstrom Topanga to process a return for a designer red blazer jacket. What should have been a routine experience turned into one of the most disappointing customer service encounters I have ever had in over 20 years of loyalty to Nordstrom. Upon presenting the jacket, I was informed by an associate, Ryan, that the item required confirmation from the designer team. After waiting several minutes, he did not return. Despite repeated requests to other sales associates to contact him, they explained they had no means of communication beyond his social media. I attempted to locate him myself in the designer department without success. When Ryan eventually returned, he informed me the jacket had been "altered three inches" and insisted I walk with him to alterations. This claim was entirely unfounded: the jacket had just been ordered by my mother, had only recently arrived, and still bore all of its original manufacturer tags and tickets. As I tried to clarify the situation, Ryan ignored my questions and continued walking, leaving me frustrated, anxious, and feeling dismissed. Fortunately, another seasoned associate eventually stepped in and confirmed that the jacket was not altered, and even if it had been, such an alteration could not have come from us as customers. As a customer who has shopped at Nordstrom for more than two decades, this treatment was deeply disappointing. Not only did the situation trigger immense frustration and anxiety, but it also made me feel as though I was being accused of something dishonest--a devastating experience for a loyal patron. This experience underscores a larger issue: the urgent need for stronger training for retail associates, particularly in customer service, communication, and respect. I love Nordstrom! Julie (in the makeup department) was so kind and patient with me. She did not pressure me to buy anything. I will always text her when I am headed to the makeup department. I only gave Nordstrom 4 stars because the customer service in the activewear department is not good. There are often no associates around for help, and when it comes time to pay, I have found that I have to look for associates to ring me up. Yazmin in that department is not friendly at all and does not smile, even when I try to engage her in a friendly conversation. She is the only associate that is not friendly in the store. I love the shoe department associates; they are helpful and friendly. I would still recommend Nordstrom to anyone. read more

I don't know what's going on with the staff here, the ladies at the fragrance department are so pushy and rude. I wanted to purchase a bottle from the Francis Kurkdjian collection or Perfums de Marly and both sales associates were pushing me to make a purchase. I told them both I wanted to smell the scents without assistance and when I'm ready to purchase I will get either one for assistance as they each work for the respective brand. But nope the Persian lady in the red jacket was fallowing me around as the Hispanic lady from Paramus de marly was telling me she's very knowledgeable and she can help me make a decision. I clearly stated I like to do this my self and I will ask for help when I'm ready to pay. They wouldn't leave me alone, I left without making the purchase. They need to relax, I understand they make commission; all they did was push the sale away. They are just way too pushy, it's obvious they are hungry for sales and $$$ Nordstrom used to have the best customer service now it's just like any mediocre department store. I grew up with Nordstrom and unfortunately it's not like it use to be . Do not order online and perhaps don't even buy from your Dyson from Nordstrom . I can't afford it but I figured I can for once buy my daughter and I this " luxurious " item for Christmas. Unfortunately my last dollars wasted and I blame myself for it . After having some issues with their staff's customer service in the past, I am happy to say this Nordstrom has had a 180 flip with their employees and customer service. Molly, who's on the 2nd floor women's clothing section is awesome!! I see her almost everytime I'm at Nordstrom. Her customer service is top notch, very down to earth and she always has a wonderful attitude. And Julie, who is in the makeup department, was the best. She doesn't work for one specific brand and gives great recommendations on all the brands Nordstroms makeup department carries. I generally love Nordstrom, but the last 3 visits to this location have been disappointing. The 1st two visits, in mid-December and mid- January, I was in the handbag area on 2 separate occasions. I was looking around at all the displays seeing if anything caught my eye. Both times, there were 2 employees chatting away. Both times I was not acknowledged as they continued chatting as if I was not there. My most recent visit was this morning. I was picking up my online orders in which I received an email stating the items were ready to pick up (as of the previous evening.) The young woman who was assisting me, attempted to find my order and was not finding it on her hand held computer. Each time she tried she would look at me and said 'nope', nothing else! She had to have said that at least 4-5 times. I was really taken aback at how unprofessional and tactless that was. I was picking up my order that was a few hundred dollars. Others may be picking up orders worth several hundred to thousands of dollars. I hope the management at Nordstrom takes notice of the subpar service of some of he employees and retrains them to be more cordial, professional and helpful. read more

This Nordstrom location, especially in the "Order Pickup" department is very unkind and unprofessional to their Customers, making it hard to peacefully and successfully shop there. They also make it very difficult to pay on your Nordstrom's credit card bill. They refuse to give service to certain Customers due to favoritism. They give innocent Customers the run around due to staff laziness, discrimination and racism. The store Manager, Brandi is not helpful and is very mean; she's mean, unkind and unprofessional just like her Staffers under her direction. They all need proper company / customer service training so this can finally stop. They all team up on their lovely Customers making it hard, unsafe and stressful to shop there. People are having very rude and non-helpful encounters often, especially people of color. Racism and discrimination should not be active at Nordstrom, or at any other establishment. My wife and I stopped by Nordstrom so she can look at purses. She wanted to look at the Tory Burch brand and it was toward the middle of the store. They did change some stuff around in the store. I remember they used to have racks of mobile pickup area but now that's gone. We mostly stayed on the 2nd floor but it looks like they have a lot of stuff to offer. This three level Nordstrom has a restaurant on the top level near their bed bath and then some section across from alteration, which you can leave and sit in an area enjoying a beverage or snack from the restaurant or your mall adventures. The first/ground level floor is mostly men's and boys and the mid floor is women's and girls with misc department store good on each. The fitting rooms are very spacious and comfortable and you can find some great deals on the mark off racks. Had a great visit! Hadn't been in since 2018 and it's definitely gone up in service and layout with more to come! The entrances from the AMC side seems more inviting and enchanting. Great customer service. read more
