I am an ex employee of Sephora I am Never shopping with the company ever again I'll take my beauty status/money elsewhere. They bully customers fabricate stories to their corporate and then a final cherry on top they ban you if you put up a fuss like I did I did absolutely nothing wrong outrageous customer service towards people of different ethnicities or people who identify as LGBTQ+ even though the company prides themselves that all beauty is celebrated clearly not I inquired about an item that they didn't have in stock clearly the sales associate was intimidated by my superior knowledge of beauty cause she didn't have much of a beauty background, now I'm banned for life across Canada I love how they think they won up me for not having to apologize for simple fact that I was right and they were wrong of lack of communication on their part yeah?! sure Sephora go ahead you think that lol and then hilariously one of the store managers that was involved in this matter came to the store that I work at asking for ice cream acting like a psychopath that nothing had happened my boss and staff couldn't stop laughing after she left the store stuffing her face leaving my colleagues and I speechless wow just WTF!!!! read more

Some good experiences some bad. This store has great products for every budget, you can always find something for you. Recently I went in looking for a specific product, my shade was empty on the shelf so I asked an associate to check the back, I waited about 15 minutes and no one came back so I then had to ask someone else. About 10 mins later they told me they didn't have it. Having to ask 2 people and wait that long isn't ideal, the store wasn't busy at the time so I was quite disappointed in the service. After not having the color they didn't offer to check other store or order it for me, this would have been nice to see. interaction between customer and associates is key in retail. Something to improve on in this store. I usually have no problems here with my Sephora rewards. Checking out I provided my phone number and email, after not being able to locate my account they searched my name and said they still couldn't find it, so I said it was fine and we moved on with the purchase. When I got home I logged into my Sephora account using the email I provided, so I'm not sure why they couldn't pull it up in store. Overall this was just one poor experience with the store, I usually know what I'm looking for and can find it easy in the store so I don't need assistance, it's a well organized store and pretty clean. Only issues I have are service, no one wants to stand in a aisle looking hopeless having multiple workers walk past and not offer assistance. This store is great but can use some work. This is THE best place for makeup! Sephora has a great selection of cruelty free makeup. I shop for Urban Decay, TooFaced, Kat Von D, Tarte, Buxom and Anastasia Beverly Hills cosmetics at all Sephora locations but I feel like Market Mall's Sephora is always fully stocked and the staff is super nice! So, if you're one of those ladies (or men) who really care about their make-up products and always looking your best, Sephora most definitely has what you're looking for. This is probably the most make-up I've ever seen in one location. They've got so many different shades of lipstick, eyeshadow, blush, concealer, powder, everything you can think of... and some stuff you wouldn't. The make-up in this place is pretty expensive though. I think you're paying for the name more so than the product. Everything in the store is too expensive for my liking... I prefer good old Wal-Mart brands. I absolutely love getting something from Sephora as a present, but will never buy myself anything from here. I'm torn on the rating here. This particular time I went, I was on a mission, needed black eyeliner, no one even looked at me or asked me for help. Which they usually do. So that was a tad rude, but as mentioned I was on a specific mission, not browsing for new products. That being said I didn't get into make up until 2-3 years ago. And my wifey took me to Chinook's location to get me started. I love their Sephora brand, plus the fact they have lie every brand of make up in there. If you are on a time limit, don't go in. I have been on the quest for a new winter fragrance for the last several weeks. I like Sephora because they have a screen on the wall which allows you to narrow down fragrances by the fragrance profile or the name etc. Unfortunately this Sephora's computer was down but that didn't end being a problem since I was helped by Liz, the human fragrance computer. As a customer I appreciate being served by someone who is really well versed in the merchandise that they sell. She was able to accurately describe the top notes, middle notes and base notes in almost every fragrance Sephora offered. When I described my preferences she pinpointed a couple of perfect options. If I were just to rate her, she would be a 5+. This store itself is on the small side for a Sephora and doesn't carry all of the products that their larger counterparts have, but it provides a pretty comprehensive collection of make-up, fragrance and skin care products. read more

With my old favourite makeup brands no longer cruelty free, I waltzed into Sephora about a week ago in attempts to replace some old favourites I have phased out. While I don't wear a ton of makeup everyday, I have always liked Sephora for its variety. While the staff were for the most part friendly, I get the sense that most of them have more of a retail background than strictly cosmetics. For this reason, when I visited last week, I relied mostly on my iPhone to look up various brands, and double check ingredients found in my selections. What did I go home with? -Some Urban Decay mineral foundation. This brand is incredible. There was a scare earlier this year regarding Urban Decay possibly selling their products in China, where animal testing is required by law (gag). However, after a huge response from their patrons and talks with animal rights organizations, they announced they refuse to sell their products until China until non-animal testing methods are accepted. I feel that turning down such a huge market to maintain their integrity deserves several high fives, and Sephora is the only place I can find this brand. -Some full-bloom powder blush by Too Faced, as well as some TEDDY BEAR HAIR brushes. Yaaaay. -A lip tint from OCC. Sephora has recently begun selling these amazing 100% cruelty free, vegan, gluten free lip stains. They are basically like a really concentrated lipstick that you apply with a brush. I fawned over these online for weeks until I found out Sephora had them in store. Right now this location only carries six, but way more shades are available online. Sephora also carries the Pacifica line of cruelty-free fragrances which are awesome. I also like their Beauty Insider rewards program. Sephora is the equivalent of a candy store for women. You walk in and no matter which direction you look, it's inevitable that you'll start drooling. Whether it's Christian Dior, Givenchy, D&G, Ralph Lauren or any other world renowned designer, Sephora is bound to carry their glam cosmetic and/or fragrance line. So really, when you walk into Sephora, you're walking into a room where all your favourite designers got together to create your own personal paradise. This having been said, I headed into Sephora yesterday to get a headstart on my Christmas shopping. I was looking to pick up a couple of products for my sister but could only remember the designer and the actual product. I had no idea WHICH particular line she liked and was in desperate need of a 'Cosmetics Angel' - Enter Whitney. Whitney somehow, perhaps even magically, knew THE products my sister uses. She walked me through the differences of the other products and why she knew for a fact that the ones in my hot little hands were the ones that my sister had mentioned in passing. Then, we went on to look at some eye makeup and again, Whitney, with SHEER expertise, walked us through a description of the newest products, which one she uses, why she recommends certain ones and why other ones may not work for some people. Whitney was a makeup guru. It's like she was inside my head, knew all the closest people in my life, and knew exactly what I needed to pick up to reign as the 2009 Queen Of Christmas Presents. Whitney is the reason that my shopping experience in Sephora was the best I've ever had. Here's to Whitney, and here's to a third of my Christmas shopping being done in the first week of October! Had a great experience there today! Usually I dread trips to stores like this because people hound and hound and stick to your heels. I like some guidance but at the same time, I like to browse and think things over and think choices through carefully (will I use it, is it a good product, how's the price) and not feel intimidated by salespeople. I went with a friend this time (maybe that's the trick) we were probably in there for an hour and a half, and had a few people check up on us, but not pester! One girl came over at the perfect time, when I was looking for the right shade in a loose powder, she quickly helped me find a shade, and then went off! I loved this! I didn't want her stuck to us for the rest of the trip so it was perfect. I like people to be close by when I have questions, but I don't need my hand held the whole way. Prices are high, but I'm numb to them now, not out of the ordinary, just need to know which brands work for you and which ones are worth the dime. read more

I was very happy when this location of Sephora opened up. I had shopped online before. They carry all the top brands of makeup, Dior, Lancome, Smashbox, Stila, Benefit just to name a few. they also have their own line of makeup and brushes. There is a wide variety of fragrances and skin care as well. I especially love the kits and sets that they come out with. For instance I recently got a Tart kit with 16 shimmer shadows, 16 solid shadows, 16 lip glosses, 4 blushes, 1 bronzer and 1 highlighter for $60, a steal! I bought the best mineral powder foundation kit here, it has lasted me forever! They have great sample kits, usually full of the most popular products from a line. I try to stay away from here unless I have some money to spend. I am happy with all the products I have bought here, some of the most amazing lipsticks and mascaras in particular! Very disappointed in service today at the Market Mall location. Waited for five minutes in Fragrence Department without help. Finally asked at check out for someone to help with Jo Malone purchase. They were to send someone right over - waited for 10 more minutes at which time the cashier said it should be soon. I decided to leave and shop elsewhere. I prefer Sephora in Chinook over this one, however I came here one day because I was closer. I went in to buy some Gel nail polish, and some Laura Mercier powder. I asked the lady working if she had any white Gel nail polish and she takes me to the Gel polishes and takes a look at this one called "Bare to be different" and goes to check if there is more in the back. They didn't have any so then I asked if they had any of the powder I came for also. They were out of that also. I'm really impatient when it comes to makeup, so I decided to drive out to Chinook's Sephora because I called and they had both products I needed. I bought the Gel nailpolish and opened it up only to find out that it isn't white...it's pink. So now I need to go back to Chinook and hope that they return it all because the lady at Market pointed me to the wrong color when I asked for white. read more

I came here to buy a perfume I wanted to try. It's not displayed on the shelf. A sales lady named Deniz went out of her way to look for it for me. She found it in the back. After being told I would like to come with a friend another day to purchase it together with other stuff, she friendly offered to put it on hold for me. That's the professional and qualify customer service we should all expect at Sephora. :-) Update: I just found out the perfume samples given to me by a different girl worked at this Sephora were totally wrong. It was wonderful to have an appointment with a mature, intelligent woman who listened to my concerns and didn't try to force products I wasn't interested in on me. Ugh. I used to love going here. But the new staff sucks. They don't ask you if you need help (except the skincare staff), the makeup girls all just hangout and gossip, and when they do walk by you they don't acknowledge you, instead they go look at products to swatch for themselves. I repeatedly have to seek out a staff member and when I do they act like I'm bothering them. The past few experiences I've wanted to get some samples for foundations; each time I have to go out of my way to ask staff after they ignore me for 10 mins, then get a staff member who picks up a random shade with out even asking or acknowledging my skin tone and they use whatever shade to give as a sample. The one time I asked to be colour matched, the girl picked up one shade and matched to my wrist, when I said my wrists are much lighter then my face and neck she got all pissy and without offering to match to my neck or try a few different shades. I don't know who hired this new staff, but they suck. Avoid avoid avoid. Either go to shoppers, Mac, the bay, order online or if you really need Sephora in store just drive to chinook, staff there is so nice and helpful. I would love for a manger to acknowledge my complaint because I could go on and on about how I have been brushed off and ignored by staff and have watched other customers constantly be ignored by the staff. One of the worst customer service places you can go to. Whoever the new management here is needs to see the atrocious service your staff is giving on the floor. read more

I love Sephora and the policies they have in place to be able to use expensive makeup. I returned some items and the lady was immediately easy going and polite. After my return I proceeded to find a foundation and some skin care, I was approached by a makeup artist I presume and she was acted very hastily to quickly find what I was looking for. She matched me too quickly to a TOO yellow it Cosmetics CC cream and quickly asked is this your shade? When I told her it was too yellow she rolled her eyes back and asked if I wanted to see the fair shade. I nodded and politely asked yes and she headed and quickly matched me once again. I didn't understand why she would match me so fast despite there not being many customers. I headed to the cashier and a young Filipino women checked my items out. When asked for my card, I said yes and to hold on one second. She rolled her eyes and quickly stated to increase my brightness and told me how many points I had. Proceeded with payment and before I could walk away she rudely said goodbye but only to continue to talk to her coworkers. Usually I love coming to sephora but today was my number one worst experience at this location!! read more

I usually like to shop online for products at Sephora but, I was shopping with a friend and she needed to pick up a sample for her sister in law. This was the first time I visited this Sephora location. Usually, I am completely ignored when I have been to Sephora stores in the past. Hence, the online shopping. But, this employee named Liu helped us straight away. She was so knowledgeable and energetic. I ended up loving the sample oils I tried and went back a few days later to buy the products she recommended. read more

The service was OUTSTANDING at Sephora Market Mall. I think I waited a whopping milli-second and the salesgirl actually listened to my whole story about how no water proof or long wear (turns out they are the exact opposite of each other- huh?!) eyeliner ever lasts on my upper lid and magically does this great Chris Blaine disappearing trick or it miraculously gets under my lower lash line. Thanks- but no thanks- I really don't need any help in the under eye dark circle department- I have that covered! Well, one more beauty problem solved...Apparently my under eye cream is really only supposed to be put on my "orbital" bone. In English- you know how you hike up your nylons- don't do that with your eye moisturizer. I was doing some fancy jiggle and dance with my ring finger way too close to my eyeball. Ahh duhh...consider me stooooopid. So, after listening to all of her suggestions I went home and cleansed my face, put on my moisturizer much much lower (think almost your smiling cheeks level) and bought some "Make Up Forever Aqua Liner" and I am in lust. Not only with this product- but Sephora. I will, most certainly go back for more suggestions, helpful hints and more beauty products. Also- huge points for this- she did mention that with the receipt, if for some insane reason (I nodded- but fully expected to chuck the product after a routine failed first attempt) I could return it for a full refund. The salesperson at Market Mall Sephora (in Calgary) would not give me a sample of the very expensive Tom Ford Black Orchid scent. Why would I spend well over $100 on a scent I do not know if I would get compliments on? She suggested I buy the rollerball fro $55, but it smelled different from the regular bottle of perfume and why should I spend $55 if I don't know if it is a good scent for me. I love the Sephora brand and the variety they have in their stores but the customer service is awful. I have been to several different Sephora stores, even in different provinces, and it is always the same. No one will greet you or ask you if you want help. I am usually fine to look around by myself but there is so much in the store I don't know where to start. My most recent experience in Sephora I was looking for a certain brown eyeliner. I looked around for a while and could not find it. No one approached me and asked if I needed assistance. I ended up asking a girl and she looked at me like I had 2 heads. She did find me the eyeliner I was looking for though. I don't know how they are being trained but I have never had a pleasant experience in a Sephora store. I like the layout of this store. They have so much product, but it doesn't look cluttered. They also have samplers you can try out which is always nice when looking for a new product. If you know what you need, then the store is great, but if you need recommendations on products, I feel like the staff are not really makeup artists.
