The expansion was much needed, as I had some crowded previous experiences and found this to be one of the downsides of the location. The expansion has truly helped the shop to reach its full potential. The demand was clearly visible as I stopped in around 8:30 pm on a Wednesday night and found it was quite busy, with patrons coming and going. I ordered a strawberry refresher and found a cozy reading spot. The barista who took my order was so sweet. I really enjoyed her kind personality. As always the dessert case was filled with appetizing treats, though I did not indulge during this visit, I love getting a look at them. They are always pretty. So happy to see Albunn doing well, as it as a great addition to East avenue. The shop has great hours (love being able to get drinks in the evening) and seems to be enjoyed by the community.

Comfy conversation chairs, a booth banquette with chairs on the other side, chairs and tables, and a bar top along the windows with outside eating for warm sunny days. The cups are a rich brown color with gold probably Arabic writing. The dessert case is filled with sumptuous fruit shaped mousse desserts. The coffee itself is beyond compare. There are boxed games. Things are delivered to your table on wooden trays. It's so elegant. I cannot say enough nice things. The staff is so friendly. I had a Nutella latte and a raspberry dessert. I asked which dessert was best, the lady at the register said the mango. Mango is not my thing but she said next best is raspberry. It's the perfect size. They were happy to do this and just let me know it might take a moment longer to make. The wait was not long at all and the drink was delicious. The dried yuzu was a nice touch. I had the B.B.L. latte which had banana syrup, it was more on the sweet side but not overly sweet (I would avoid it if you don't enjoy a sweet palate, try a latte with bitters instead!) It was something unique to try and I was happy with my choice. There was also plenty of seating which is always a huge plus in the winter in Rochester. We had no trouble getting a table. I should also note that there was a very limited food selection here -- about 3 baked goods offered. So if you're looking for food and coffee, I would recommend looking elsewhere. Roast master told me he does the sourcing, blending and roasting. This one had Ethiopian and Colombian beans. Fabulous blend of earthy and chocolate tones. I bought a pound to prepare with my French Press at hotel and the roaster grinded it to a perfect coarse. Side note: please never drink coffee from those hotel room machines. You can always do better! Come, have a coffee, have lunch, buy beans or ground coffee for your enjoyment at home. This is the type of place that makes café lovers feel right at home, even when traveling.

For me, this cafe was a one and done - not only because of the coffee, but also because of the service. I felt like the barista was a little rude, which I can consider could just be something personal that the barista was dealing with that day. However, as someone who appreciates good service (or at least someone who is kind), service means a lot to me. Overall, the coffee was pretty mid. I think Montgomery Court was a one and done for me.
