I can't thank Alex enough for helping me pass my Road Test Class 5 exam. For those of you who are still hesitant about it, I would highly recommend you to try Alex as your driving instructor and make an opinion about him for yourself. Being an instructor myself, it was not easy finding the right person to teach me; however, I am glad that I found Alex from SenSen Driving School. Alex lessons are highly personalized. Being a driver myself, I had two fears namely the reverse stall parking and parallel park. I was using my own style and was never getting it right. Alex devised a simple formula and strategy that you must follow step by step and voila, this was easily mastered. Another thing that I highly recommend you all is his blog! As Alex says, "you have all answers for your exam on the blog". Read it, read it, read it and take lessons with him, it all connects well and help you more while driving. Whether you take his lessons at 08:00 am on a Sunday morning or at 5:00pm on a weekday, he is full of energy and passionate about teaching you the right way to drive in BC, Canada= as I say, the ICBC way. He spots every single mistake you make on the road and uses logic and humor and devise the best strategy for you to remember it and master the required driving skill. For example, when I did a mistake on the road, he mimics my mistake and by doing that I understood the gravity of the mistake, then he did it the ICBC way and sometimes he also showed me the blog and the ICBC driver's manual to complement my understand. Then I made another attempt and mastered that particular element. From my observation, he quickly adapted his style to the way I learn best in this case-experiential learning. Other strong assets of Alex are he is patient, punctual and professional and he prepares you for the exam, with an ICBC checklist of what they mark you on exactly. I also took the road test package that he offers, and I highly recommend that. That 45 min warm up before your test, he really iterates all your mistakes that you normally do and help you above and beyond and remind you not to do them on the road test. Apart from the mistakes, he tells you and coaches you everything that you might miss and help you prepare better for the exam. Also, he gives you the full support and above all he believes in your skills, so if Alex says you are ready, then definitely you are. Passed my N test today on the first try (though a lot of SenSen's students do that)! I cannot recommend SenSen enough! Excellent pricing, easy to schedule, friendly and approachable staff, and the way they teach can't be beat. I got into some car accidents as a kid so was super terrified when I started out, but right when I got in the car with Alex his laid back, yet professional, demeanour totally put me at ease. He's always watching everything that you're doing and that's happening around you, yet is able to joke and converse as he does it. The teaching style is intuitive, friendly, funny, and he constantly checks to make sure you fully understand what you're being taught. There is an economy of words when new things are explained that makes everything clear, simple, and achievable. No time is wasted. Great instructor!!! Alex helped me pass my "N" and I'll be returning to do my class 5. I took some lessons from a random driving instructor on craigslist in the past but I felt pressured into taking my road test and failed. Alex helped me get over my fear of driving. When I was worried about passing my road test (for the second time) but he reassured me that I would pass without any issues. I live in Vancouver but did my road test in Burnaby and passed!! Alex was very patient and let's you know where improvement is needed. Also, his vehicle had double steering wheeled so it made me feel safer. I am truly fortunate to have had Alex as my driving instructor! I passed my N and Class 5 on the FIRST TRY all thanks to Alex (though a lot of his students do)! Not only is he super funny, but he is also truly a great instructor! His patience and encouragement made me feel comfortable and more confident on the road, even though driving is not my favourite past time. His wealth of knowledge on the road tests enabled me to be completely prepared for the road test and everything that the examiner threw my way. Alex is truly amazing! I started taking lessons with him 3 months ago and with just 11 lessons I was able to pass my N test on my first try. He has some really great ICBC tips and is extremely patient. He is also very friendly/funny but can be serious when needed (great balance). Initially, I chose SenSen Driving School because of the payment flexibility, because unlike other schools, you can pay per lesson instead of paying all up front. But I can say I definitely continued to take lessons because of Alex's great teaching style. Alex is marvelous and so professional! As noted by other reviewers, he has a great sense of humour combined with seriousness. I was nervous at the beginning and almost immediately relaxed which allowed me to feel more confident. I've had my Class 5 for 20 years but hardly driven since moving to Vancouver and using transit. His lesson was key for me to start feeling comfortable driving in Van with a newly heightened sense of safety and in general just good driving habits. Alex is the best out there. I've had previous instructors where they would just tell me to drive and that was that, but with Alex he actually corrected and made sure I knew what and why I was doing what I was doing. he's very reliable and patient but strict when needed. also he knows if ur going to make a mistake before it even happens. With Alex teaching you, you will definitely pass the test. Not because you "know what will be on the test" but because you have become a stronger, safer driver. It's also important to know how to ensure your safety around other drivers (other drivers that are simply not as safe, and could use some SenSen lessons of their own), and this is something Alex excels at! Driving in Vancouver can be a bit overwhelming if you come from another country with slightly different traffic rules, so even though I had driven for some time in small cities in Brazil, I knew that I had to take some driving lessons before I went for my class 5 road test, in order to get my BC license. I had one 1.5hr class with Alex and I passed my Class 5 driving test on the first try. I'd actually recommend having two classes, as I was incredibly nervous during my test. Even if you already have driving experience (I've been driving for 10 years). He knows everything there is to know about the test and what to expect, so ask lots of questions!
