Here for a long weekend in Kentucky. Got some drinks and dinner and everything was fine. Aperol…read morespritz was definitely NOT an Aperol spritz. A few other drinks did not have the correct ingredients. Food was fine, was a little disappointed in the "steak" that was essentially a hamburger patty. Fries were good, veggies were fine. Inside was very spacious and there was a more casual spot next door.

We've been to Harper House a couple of times, many moons ago when it was located in…read moreHopkinsville...but never made it up to Cadiz when they relocated until last November. I didn't take any photos during that trip for this review and since everything about Harper House said, "Come on back and get some more." we decided to get back up there for another round. Reservations were for 7pm and we got there a tad early, but were seated promptly and probably right at 7pm...I wasn't checking my watch. We started off with a basket of their fried pickles (last time we started with the Group Grazing Board, but we had more in our party). They came out from the kitchen quickly and there's a really good portion for the price. They weren't as crispy as they could be, but they were really tasty. They came with a house made ranch dipping sauce that was just what we expected...ranch sauce. They did bring out some of their house cornbread as well with strawberry butter. I'm not a fan of cornbread all in all unless it comes in muffin form with cheese and jalapenos to eat with some pinto beans...but this was good. Had a hint of sweetness to it as well, which went well with the strawberry butter. My wife ordered the 7oz center cut filet mignon but she subsituted the mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts for Harper House Mac-n-Cheese and Crispy Red Potatoes. Initially, the filet came out slightly underdone, but they quickly made it right. She really liked it, said that it was exactly what a filet should be...and the peppercorn demi glaze made it that much better. I ordered the ribeye and kept the sides as is (baked potato & thin cut crispy onion strings). This was a super flavorful cut with an insanely rich, bold flavor and just the right amount of fat marbled throughout the cut. If you live right there in Cadiz and haven't been to Harper House, head over there to grab a bite. If you live down I24, you owe it to yourself to make the 30 minute drive and give it a shot. It's well worth the trip.

Another option was the soup and salad bar. White bean soup was like wallpaper paste. Broccoli soup was just as pasty but green. Neither had any flavor. Salad bar had bare minimals. Soup bowls were either a tiny butter dish or a ramekin. When I asked for a soup bowl the waitress pointed to my 2 choices. We shared a club sandwich which was ok. Went for breakfast the next day because the nearest town is 20 minutes away. Breakfast buffet was poor so we ordered off the menu. My traditional breakfast was fair. Ham steak was the highlight of my meal. Never got the potatoes that came with my plate. Also a first for me. Got the heal or end of the bread. Whole place is closed next year for major renovations. Should have closed sooner. Dining room overlooks the lake. Too bad the outside desk wasn't open.

Seafood night is just okay, but we wouldn't come back for it. Typical salad bar, dessert table with rotating pie/cake/ banana pudding (hot) & Vanilla soft serve machine. The staff is friendly. They also have lunch portions that seem to be priced just right! They have Cajun and sweet potato fry options with spicy/cajun onion rings. On the phone the woman tried to claim that I lied about the items missing, only after I stated that I had a video of the bag unopened did she tell me that she would put the missing items in the bag upon arrival. Had to drive all the way back and the woman immediately had an attitude when I expressed that I would like the entire thing remade because by then the food was already cold. She then proceeds to offer 10% off of the next order ... what next order? I will not be returning. Wtf is $5 off of a $55 order gonna do after I drug my pregnant homegirl at the house to get her craving. I have never in my life been so utterly dissatisfied with an establishment. Absolutely distasteful behavior from the employees and the manager who was ZERO help on the phone. Then the girl claimed that she threw away the previous order so that couldve just been given to us anyways. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. Dont waste your time if you have an issue because they are useless asf.

This little Cajun market used to have a spot in Nashville's Germantown, a modest building now occupied by a Taco Mamacita. Sadly, Music City lost a reliable purveyor of unique seafood that still lives on in Clarksville in an equally humble space. And thank heavens it does! I've been planning to visit Little's for about 10 years now to complete my experiment with fried alligator and fried frog legs. And I finally got to put their products to the test with a two-hour, round-trip drive followed by a full scale cooking test at home. I acquired the alligator meat and frog legs in the frozen section of this tiny store, items you simply cannot find in Nashville. I also couldn't resists the breaded fried clams also in the freezer. And I went home to commence an extensive culinary adventure. I leaped into Leap Day of 2024 by frying up my secret recipe for Nashville Hot Frog Legs. And thanks to Little's selling frog legs of exceptional quality, this is one of the best things I've cooked in the last five years! Juicer than chicken, good enough to win competitions, and worthy of starting my own food truck, this would have been impossible without such an impeccable product! And the best-kept secret might just be their frozen fried clams, nearly as good coming out of my deep fryer as the best versions I've had in Maine and Massachusetts! The alligator was pretty good, too. Let's just say that I'm an excellent gourmet cook, but I'm only as good as the quality of my ingredients. And Little's did not disappoint!
