5 Stars A Truly…read moreWonderful Place for my Father!!! I found Hillcrest Royale back in February when my research started with this process. It's been months of back and forth trying to get my father open to this idea of living in a senior community-which was a huge challenge. Marian, from day one, has just been incredible! There aren't enough words to say how amazing, kind, patient, and supportive she really is. We recently moved my dad into Hillcrest and we couldn't be more grateful for the incredible experience we've had so far! In such a short time, my siblings and I have seen great positive changes already! From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with open arms by the amazing and supportive staff. Marian, and all the staff here genuinely cares -- not just about the residents' basic needs, but about their comfort, happiness, and dignity. The facility is immaculate -- always clean, fresh-smelling, and beautifully maintained. It's clear that attention to detail and cleanliness is a top priority, and that gives us so much peace of mind. My dad says the food is very good, always warm and nice full meals at each dining time. The transition for our father was something we were nervous about, but the compassionate team made it smooth and reassuring for him (and for us). They took the time to get to know him, listen to his needs, and help him feel at home. We feel incredibly lucky to have found such a caring, respectful, and professionally run home for our dad. Thank you to the entire team for making such a positive difference in our lives!

The staff could not have been kinder, and her primary caregiver, Sarah, was so good to her. I am so happy that we found this place for her. They gave her outstanding care and helped us through the hospice as well at the end of her life. She was just short of one hundred and one years old when she died. We are so grateful to them for all they did for us to help us care for her.

Outstanding Care and Compassion Beyond Expectations!…read more I can't say enough wonderful things about Royal Oaks Inn. From the moment our loved one arrived, the entire team treated my 90-year-old Dad with dignity, warmth, and genuine compassion. The nurses, aides, and therapy staff are not only highly skilled but also incredibly attentive -- they truly go above and beyond to make every resident feel cared for and comfortable. The facility itself is spotless, well-organized, and feels more like a home than a medical center. Meals are nutritious and thoughtfully prepared. Management is responsive, proactive, and communicates clearly with families, which gave us tremendous peace of mind. We've visited other facilities prior to joining the wonderful care of Royal Oaks Inn, but Royal Oaks Inn stands in a class of its own. The staff genuinely care about their residents -- you can see it in every small act of kindness. If you're looking for a place where your loved one will be safe, respected, and treated like family, this is it. Thank you to everyone at Royal Oaks Inn, especially Holly, Brenden, Lucia, Bernard and Domenica for providing exceptional long-term care and making such a difference in people's lives. I highly recommend Royal Oaks Inn to anyone looking for a safe, caring and compassionate facility for their loved ones!

They are very understanding when it comes to dementia and memory issues, and they treat everyone with respect and dignity. The facility is clean, safe, and feels warm and welcoming, not like a typical nursing home. I also liked that the residents are kept engaged with activities, which helps with their mood and overall well-being. Staff communication is also good, and they make sure families stay informed. Overall, I feel like this is a trustworthy place for loved ones who need memory care.

If you are looking for a place where safety, clinical excellence, and genuine compassion intersect, this is it. First, I want to recognize Ashi, the Administrator. Her leadership is evident the moment you walk through the doors--the team is cohesive, the environment is professional, and the care is top-tier. I spent a significant amount of time with Jessica Torres, the Community Ambassador, and she is simply exceptional. Jessica is incredibly knowledgeable and shared deep, educated insights into the nuances of memory care life. She took the time to truly educate me on what it means to live in a specialized secure unit, providing peace of mind that is hard to find elsewhere. The facility design is one of the most unique and thoughtful I have ever seen. In terms of security, it is easily one of the best I have been in. It manages to feel like a warm, inviting home while maintaining a rigorous focus on the safety of its residents. I highly recommend Silverado to any family in the Thousand Oaks area navigating the journey of memory care. It is a world-class community led by world-class people.

The place seems more like a nice hotel than an elder care center, with beautiful grounds, winding paths, and even bunnies! This was the second place she was in memory care, and there is no comparison. The staff here is so caring and professional. They keep in regular touch with the residents' families, and spend a tremendous amount of time on enrichment activities with each resident. The food is excellent, and was served in a restaurant-like environment before the pandemic. Now it is catered to each room They also hosted a private birthday lunch in one of their small dining rooms for our family and my mother-in-law. Since the pandemic they have done a marvelous job of keeping residents safe. Most of the staff and management have been here a long time, and it's easy to see why.

My five stars go to Sunrise's executive director, Edith Kennedy, and the nursing and admin staff…read more They are exceptional, and I don't use that word a lot. Edith is particularly outstanding because she truly cares and is on her game with details, always wanting feedback (good or bad) to make your loved one's experience the best it can be. Now, with assisted living facilities this can sometimes be like moving a mountain. But, she earnestly tries. She's got your back. However, despite this, we are actually moving my dad to another local facility shortly due to one of Sunrise's bad qualities, horrible in fact, and that is...pricing. Again, to be found at many assisted living facilities but costs at Sunrise are higher than most...and they price differently than most. For example, when you first talk to them they speak of the rent as a flat rate. But it's not. Sunrise charges you a day rate per month. So your cost varies per month based on days of the month. The rent is better in February, September, April, June and November. But the other seven months with 31 days...all higher. And surprise...there are more months with 31 days in a year so the house wins. It's a bad optic. Despite the costs, they serve generic soda vs. Coke and Pepsi brands. Small yes, but at these prices...bad optic. They only have transportation offered 2 days a week while most other places provide 7 days. Again, for what they charge...bad optic. And one other thing. No matter what month you move in, your rent will be increased come January by 5-10%. The contract makes it sound like it's a random event, but it happens every year like clockwork and you will be notified 60 days in advance. And remember, you have your highest leverage to negotiate (the move-in fee, etc.) before you sign the contract. So with Sunrise, the people are terrific. The prices are not. And in the end, it's a shame that a business that exists to provide care often comes across as caring more about the money.

Having been through this process before -- my grandmother and my father both lived in local care homes -- I've seen many facilities and can easily tell which ones are well run and which ones are not. The home Tami chose is an absolute 10/10 and comes at a very reasonable price. I'm so grateful for her guidance, expertise, and compassion during what can be a very overwhelming time.
